The food at Mangrove is great especially with their new menu BUT the big problem is their customer service. When taking our order, the waiter didn't repeat what he wrote on the ticket. He brought our food and instead of giving the specific person the food he just puts all of them on the table, I had 3 friends who got chicken wings with different spice levels. My friend who can't eat spicy chicken ended up eating the wrong one. The girl who served us tea brought us an extra tea we didn't ask for. We told the girl about it and she told us we need to pay for it. Imagine someone telling you to pay something you didn't ask for. Later the guy waiter brought fries which we also didn't ask for, we told him we didn't order it but guess what.... he said we need to pay for it too because it was written on the ticket. Bruh we didn't ask for side order fries. Whoever the manager is needs to train these workers ASAP!

Excellent food at reasonable prices, including a selection of sushi and sashimi.

The food and view were priceless.

This bar is a getaway from everything. On it's own little extension and providing everything the little island has to offer and then some, come here for a few drinks, unwind, talk to the locals, and eat. All great!

I had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here at Mangrove and while this isn't the best restaurant in the world, it's definitely one of the best in Pohnpei. The breakfast of pancake, bacon and egg was definitely good, but the pancake could have been a bit more moist. My lunch was tuna poke and this was really good. Generally the tuna in Pohnpei is good since they catch it freshly. So, definitely worth a visit!

One of the best restaurants in Pohnpei. The seafood salad is good, the sushi is great, and you can’t beat the price or flavor of their chicken sandwich.

I had lunch/dinner and all food at Mangrove restaurant are delicious. Enjoy the environment and view.

Fantastic location with really good sushi and good selection of beer. Nice staff. But please stop serving plastic straws - they are a hazard for our oceans..

We stopped in here a couple of days for lunch after morning diving with Ponhpei Surf & Dive Club on a Saturday lunchtime, and the place was really filled up with locals and looked like the development sector crowd. Specialty of the house looking at everyone else's tables, was the deep fried chicken wings and fries. Apparently comes in huge, huger or ginormous servings LOL. First day we had Ponhpei Sashimi and Tuna Ngiri, both a success, but novel. Ponhpei Sashi is large chunks of tuna (more like large poke) with raw onion slices and sprinkled liberally with salt, we're not sure if we were to have it with added sodium in soy sauce or wasabi, but it all seemed to match. Tuna ngiri looked great, the tuna was well presented, but IMO the rice was under seasoned, just not enough vinegar/sugar etc. 2nd day there was a more limited menu, scribbled on a bit of paper, but we liked that, as half the time in Ponhpei we always kept a Plan B menu items for WHEN one of the choices was unavailable :) So we went for the Crab Sushi Roll and the "Chicken Wings". Crab Roll a winner, except it arrived with unexpected hot sauce daubed on top. The 15 piece Chix WIngs was just too much, and was greasy and heavy, but freshly cooked and piping hot. French fries were cold, I reckon cooked first, before chicken. Overall I recommend stick to the sushi and sashimi with the icy cold beer here.

Spent many meals here on our two month stay in Pohnpei. Service was all over the place but nice enough. Last night my wife forgot her phone on a corner table out of the way of everyone. Came back 20 min later, barman had cleared the table and no phone he said. Owner said it was everyone’s own responsibility to look after their own things. Honesty and integrity aren’t important to him I guess. Shame but avoid.

Fresh fish, hours to plate! Kumar delivered mahi, yellow fin tuna, wahoo frequently. We loved dining at his restaurant and enjoyed the bloody Marys as well as the fresh sushi rolls and local knowledge. My husband and I rate this place not to be missed.

Cool place to get some fresh food.

a nice view. I had roll for lunch and grilled tuna for dinner. Roll is okay but grilled tuna is not grilled as it said but more like seasoned. salty, spicy and sweet. not recommend for tuna

Perfect place for ocean lovers.

Beware of young girls especially those who say they are 16 or 17... many girls in Pohnpei look older than their actual age. At the sametime beware of attendants and other local people they will report every activity going on around you especially with girls - you might end up in prison accused of sleeping with underage - the legal age is 16 in Pohnpei, Yap, Chuck and Kosrae (Micronesia)

We were pleasantly surprised by the food. Our kids loved their hamburgers, the fish burgers was also really good. Not many vegetarian options on the menu.
