I get a straight razor head shave weekly from Gonzo. He does an excellent job, gives hot and cool down towel services. He’s very attuned to his clients’ needs and is super personable. Highly recommend!

I want to give a huge shoutout to my man Gonzo, who delivered an exceptional service today. Not only did he go above and beyond with his customer care, but he also engaged in great conversation throughout the haircut. He took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and provided me with the best haircut experience I've ever had. I'm absolutely thrilled and will definitely be returning to this fantastic spot in town. Gonzo's expertise extends to the hot Steam Towel Street, Razor Shave, which was incredibly relaxing and showcased his impressive skillset. Highly recommended!

Best barber shop in the region. When I first moved back to Eastern, NC in 2015 I would still drive 3 hrs to Chapel Hill for a haircut because I couldn’t find a decent shop in the area. But Gonzo at Total E Clips changed that. I no longer have to drive 3 hours. The vibe in here is one anyone can jive with. A beyond professional cut at an affordable price, but it’s the people that make the difference. The folks in the shop are full of conversation and respect all walks of life. I’ll never go anywhere else and recommend them to anyone who will listen. I’m an educator and a good clean look is important. Ask for Gonzo, he’s the best barber I’ve ever had.

I called asking for pricing on a shampoo/hair wash no style and was quoted $5 on the phone by Gonzo. Upon arrival, I asked if there was a wait or if someone was available for walk ins. The lady to the right (I’m assuming Gonzo’s mom or the shop owner,) was busy multitasking clients but hollered to Gonzo to take care of me. He was very nice and personable however the service experience was extremely uncomfortable. He mentioned he was messing with the water temperature to make sure it wasn’t too hot for me and I couldn’t even feel the water because it wasn’t touching my scalp. He used a total of three products on my head. I assume two shampoos and a conditioner however each time he placed the soap and his hands on the top surface of my head and down the hair shaft, NEVER scrubbing my hairline or anywhere on my scalp. I never felt his hands, soap, or water go below my parietal ridge or even into my nape. I’ve also never had conditioner applied to the top of my head, but after rinsing me all three times with the lowest water pressure in existence I was left with a soaking wet greasy mess. He brought me to his chair to comb out the tangles, without every ringing out excess water or attempting to towel dry at all. I still felt greasy, but giving him the benefit of the doubt I decided to flash dry my hair when I got home which only confirmed my suspicions… the top of my head was sorta clean while the sides and everything below the crown was untouched. I forgot to mention while I was receiving this ice plunge on my hair, the lady (again I assume the owner she never introduced herself) came up to me saying “I know we quoted you $5 on the phone so we’ll charge you that today but for future reference it’s $12.” Which I thanked her for telling me but received no clarification as to the miscommunication on their part considering when Gonzo originally quoted me over the phone he asked others around him before telling me. Nonetheless, even $5 plus tip felt ridiculous for the service I received. I’ve never left a salon with dirty hair 🤦‍♀️ I’m new to havelock so I was trying this on a whim but hoped to establish a connection so I can get a haircut and color service once I give birth in November but after this experience I’m not even sure they’d be able to wash all the color out.

Joe is the guy who always cuts my hair! Super nice very easy to speak to and also does a great job! One of the best haircuts I’ve ever had in my life (not hyping it up) the other ppl seem to do a good job from what I’ve seen while getting my hair cut.

Sam was awesome! First time there. First experience with braids as well. Price was reasonable. Hair took hours. She was kind and patient with him.
