My
mother
moved
into
New
Perspectives-Woodbury
almost
exactly
two
years
ago.
Though
she
was
not
happy
about
having
to
move
out
of
her
long-time
home,
we
took
her
around
to
several
places
to
determine
which
assisted
living
location
might
serve
her
best.
New
Perspective
in
Woodbury
was
different
from
the
other
places
right
from
the
start.
Dave
Smith
introduced
himself
to
mom
and
spent
some
time
with
her
while
showing
her
around.
He
developed
a
rapport
with
her
right
away,
largely
by
listening
and
exhibiting
some
empathy
for
her
situation.
This
sort
of
openness
and
genuineness
was
NOT
something
we
found
in
abundance
at
other
places;
but
as
we
walked
through,
it
seemed
to
be
part
of
the
NP
culture.
Dave
and
the
other
staff
members
made
a
hugely
positive
impression
on
my
mom
and
she
made
the
decision
to
move
in
pretty
quickly.
It
turned
out
to
be
an
excellent
decision!
Throughout
her
time
there,
mom
had
nothing
but
very
good
things
to
say
about
the
staff.
She
got
to
know
most
all
of
them
well;
and
was
very
appreciative
for
the
care
that
she
received.
Beyond
the
staff,
my
mom
loved
the
low-stress
feel
of
the
residence,
and
enjoyed
the
friendship
of
many
of
the
residents.
During
the
last
months
of
her
life,
my
mom
arranged
for
a
hospice
service
to
provide
care
for
her
(beyond
the
care
she
received
from
the
NP
staff)
in
the
comfort
of
her
own
apartment
until
she
died.
The
NP
staff
were
very
supportive
and
respectful
of
us
(mom's
family)
during
those
difficult
last
couple
of
months.
New
Perspectives
did
an
excellent
job
of
communicating
with
the
hospice
service
throughout
the
time
my
mom
was
undergoing
that
care;
and
she
was
able
to
pass
comfortably
and
with
dignity.
Mom
enjoyed
her
life
at
New
Perspectives.
She
would
often
comment
that
her
apartment
was
her
"home"
and
talk
to
us
about
how
comfortable,
safe,
and
cared
for
she
felt
while
being
there.
I
am
very
grateful
to
the
staff
of
New
Perspectives
for
the
genuine
care
they
took
of
my
mom.
I
would
highly
recommend
this
place
for
anyone
who
is
looking
for
an
assisted
living
place
to
call
home.
