This place is awesome! Small business that makes great food. Come early so you can get the hash brown casserole. I highly recommend the corn fritters, dirty corn and the brisket. We will be back to try the Sunday breakfast. Say hi to Brian, he was so helpful and made the experience delightful!

The customer service here is top notch. There was an honest mistake that delayed our lunch but Brian was able to mitigate it flawlessly. Seeing his passion for the food there dissipated any agitation I had. It was really nice to see how much he wanted us to, at the very least, taste the food, and for good reason. The fries are absolutely amazing and the burgers were not shy about giving me a heart attack lol. The Mac and cheese was good. The housemade mayo is to die for. All in all though, I just want to commend Brian for making it up to us. 10/10 will return.

Don't walk, run to check this place out! It came highly recommended to me, and it didn't disappoint! Everything I tried was flavorful and unique. There is thought, purpose, and skill behind every flavor and dish on the menu. From the preparation of the wings to keep them juicy, to the incredible sauces to even the pickles and condiments. Hands down my favorite was the Bok Pok Wings. So much flavor, spice and heat. I love it when American restaurants embrace full flavor and heat. Incredible service. Love that I was able to buy the sauces retail after we were done eating.

We were missing Texas BBQ, and based on the reviews, this place was a close second to that. Wrong! First, they don’t sell BBQ on Sundays, we didn’t know that coz why would a BBQ place will not sell bbq on one day of a week. Nevertheless, we decided to try other things. They were out most of the food we wanted to try, frustrated, we ordered a burger and the ribs with waffle. The burger was 3.5 out of 5, but the ribs, I haven’t had this much dry ribs ever before. 2 at best out of 5. I never saw a place serving waffles without any syrup. No syrup on table either. On top of that, the service is bad. The person who takes your order, the blonde lady, not very competent or she just straight up decides to ignore the customers. Waited for a good 20-25 mins before she decided to come to take our order. And this person only takes orders and checks. No serving. Overall, very disappointing experience. Definitely not a good bbq and DEFINITELY NOT anywhere near TX bbq.

Cool little joint in Anoka with a nice sit down area. But I did take out so I can't really say anything else besides that. Now, onto the food. I got sausage, wings with the holy Trinity sauce, brisket, a whole rack of ribs, Mac n cheese, coleslaw, and brisket beans. The food is decent, but if I were to compare it to other Texas style BBQ joint I've tried down south, I would say it can't quite compare. The best meat out of the 4 that I got has got to be the wings and ribs. The sausage and brisket were not juicy enough and were dry. Refer to photos for context. I really don't have anything wowing to say about any of the sauce either as it was just meh to me. Something I'd taste once that isn't bad, but I wouldn't crave it. The coleslaw was not that good, but the rest of the sides were decent. 3/5 for food. The cashier was nice and the place was clean.

Great burgers but even better BBQ! The homemade burger patties are full of flavor while the unique poppy+sesame seed buns are so soft and yummy. The mac & cheese has a queso flavored cheese sauce and explosion of flavor in your mouth. The best thing though is the BBQ - pulled pork that is so tender, juicy, and packed with delicious BBQ flavor!! The fries are also seasoned well and have a hint of heat at the end. Will definitely be returning to try more of the menu! Others around us had the fried chicken which looked so crunchy, it made our montage water. Quick and friendly service from the waitress too!

So far the second best bbq I’ve tried in Minnesota. They know what they are doing with brisket. Cool aid pickle was a nice touch and the hash was excellent. I love their more traditional thick bbq sauce. Good stuff.

Food is really excellent. The quality is 2nd to none. I think the "Large" size offered on some of their sides is more like a medium. Also, the BBQ is smoked with a dry rub - totally opposite of what you'll get from a Famous Dave's. It was delicious, just know this upfront. Finally, I thought the young woman working the counter, was very impersonal. She wasn't rude, but not welcoming at all.

Every single thing they make is delicious! They're great people and my order is always perfect and tasty. All the sauces are homemade and full of flavor. I don't really know how to pick favs but my take out "go to's" are the heart attack sandwich, jalepeno popper burger, dirty corn and her collard greens are bomb! They have great specials and I love that there's always something new to try. Don't forget to grab some jars of hot sauce and jam!

Came in from out of town and this is the first place we stopped. Can’t say enough good things! Eclectic, cute atmosphere. Incredible food all around - brisket tacos, fried chicken sandwich, and black and blue brisket sandwich. The dirty corn will change your life. Incredible service - we left with tons of recommendations for things to do from staff.

I visited mid week for lunch. I've heard a lot of great things about Jellybean and Julias from friends prior to coming so my expectations were quite high. I heard they were known for their bbq, so I ordered the brisket. I was surprised they didn't have a lunch plate or basket option for sliced brisket. I ordered 1/2 lb and when it arrived I was a bit disappointed. There were 3 slices and most of what I was served was unedible fat. The brisket, what I could eat, was good as was the side of Mac and cheese. I'll probably be back, but might not go for the brisket.

Sassy, funky fun. Try all the sides. Hash brown hot dish I will dream about! This is such a fun experience. Ribs check, pulled pork tacos n corn tortillas check. Calling all goddesses, green goddess sauce on the tacos...they are not fooling. Perfect date night! Great prices, great service. Get there early for pm as it is the hot spot in the north metro. THANK YOU!

The waitress was upfront about the coffee being old which I appreciated. I didn't want them to put on a full pot at my account so that was fine. The food was great, I had the original heart attack sandwich, some beans, some fries and some of the cornbread fritters. The food was all delicious, with the exception of the fries, I would skip them next go around. All in all the place is clean and nice with a lot of cool local stickers and posters and the food is wholesome and well prepared.

We arrived as a big gathering after a funeral. Great service and great environment all around. This place is accommodating for large crowds if booked in advanced of course. Most of the food was fantastic but the Kool Aid Pickles were off-putting to my taste. I do know that a good amount did appreciate the pickles, however. I also wished there were more Spicy Barbecue options to the sauce rack. Overall, great place with great staffing.

Best pastrami (sandwich) I’ve ever had. Probably the best pulled pork in the Twin Cities and the brisket was very good too. The side dishes all have a unique and interesting flavor. Looking forward to trying the ribs sometime.

A secret gem in Anoka with a great menu. Recommended by my daughter who is a "foodie" and loved everything from their chicken breakfast waffle to their sandwiches. Our small company had a holiday luncheon and ordered pulled pork, macaroni, coleslaw and yummy "Calico" type beans. Everyone raved about the flavors which included unique sauces. Don't let the small diner fool you. Perfect for takeout in the year 2020!

Wow. The food here is amazing. We picked up our order to go and it made our car smell amazing. Couldn't wait to get home to eat! The sauces are so great I love the habenero one! We had the brisket and it was so flavorful and tender. Some of the best I've had in the twin cities. The pulled pork was really great too! Flavorful on its own but adding the sauce made it better!! I usually don't order mac and cheese at bbq places cause it's bland, but this mac and cheese was fantastic!! 10/10, would eat there again!

We've gotten take-out once and ate in once and both were delicious! The first time we got sandwiches on special and the second time we got ribs and brisket. My husband's exact words were, "why don't we go here more often??" I recommend following them on Instagram so you can see the specials that they post! When in doubt, order the brisket - yum!

Decided to pop into Anoka on our way back from up north. J&J's popped up as a highly rated venue and the rest is history. Smoked coffee is unique and flavorful. Cornbread fritters had sweet crunchy outers and warm savory inners. Beans were the right kind, heavy on variety. PB&J brisket was fun and filling. Not pictured, but the wings were my personal favorite. The dry rub was excellent and we will be sure to stop back for $0.99 wings during happy hour!

Delicious BBQ! The brisket, pork, and ribs are all delicious and moist! The pork has a slight, pleasant sourness to it, like a mix of vinegar and mustard. The ribs were barely hanging on to the bone, and were pleasantly seasoned. I know our waitress highlighted the sauces, but none of the meats needed the sauce! The Kool-Aid pickle was inventive and creative. The walls were decorated playfully with wind chimes made of kitchen utensils, jar lids and cake pans. The benches had lots of brewery stickers. Fun and delicious place! Will come back!

Love the atmosphere, a mix of 50s, oldies and Bobbie McGee. Mismatched chairs, church pews made it laid back and enjoyable. My server was very engaging. She did great. I had the brisket sandwich and I thought it was delicious.

We ate here for the first time last week. I’ll start out with saying the food was very good. I got a brisket sandwich. The girlfriend got a “heart attack”! Both were great. As for the environment of the place it was a bit tight. If you sit on the far side of the restaurant the tables are super close to each other. Almost feels like your in there personal space while eating. The décor was awesome to look at. Lastly our server wasn’t to attentive with the tables she was serving. The folks next to us were getting a bit annoyed as well since both of us didn’t receive refills until our meals were almost gone. That’s the only complaint. Will definitely try it again 👍🏼

Good food and good service. Enough said. I picked up a full rack of ribs,.5 pounds of brisket and a sausage link. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful and soft the meat was. This place beats many bbq joints hands down.

Always amazing food and service. I don’t make it here as often as I like but worth it when I do. I had the Ribs, Beans and Corn Bread fritters. Ribs fell right off the bone. Beans had a nice smoke flavor. And the Cornbread Fritters with Jalapeño Jam are delicious every time.

The BbQ is by the the best in the Twin Cities!! Small quaint place. Brisket has always been moist. Pulled pork has a sweet smoky flavor. Recommend the sampler platter. Sides (beans) are the so tasty. They have the best breakfast bad well!

First time we tried. Burgers overcooked and over salted. Expected Trucker burger to be loaded with onions and cheese. Not the case. Good fries. Coleslaw is not creamy which is my preference but still good. We will come again to try something else.

  • 5/5 David R. 3 years ago on Google
I'll make this simple and layout everything that was great and everything that was bad. • Brisket sandwich - GREAT • Pulled pork - GREAT (had a different texture due to the very fine shredding) • French fries 🍟 - OMG GREAT - hot, seasoned and crisp to perfection • Drunken Corn - GREAT - creamy with incredible flavor • Mac & Cheese - GREAT • Corn bread w/ jalapeño jam - GREAT - very unique, almost like a mini donut, but might be the best cord bread I've ever had. • Not being able to stay and eat forever - BAD Bonus points for their disclaimer about the music (see pic) - "...we will not change our music because you don't like it..." 😎🤙 Small menu, tucked away location, but this place is incredible. Cool vibe inside and amazing food. Eat here. Eat here now.

Great food! Stopped by for a late lunch. Had two of the daily specials: a pulled pork burrito, and a bacon and jam burger. Got greens and dirty corn as the sides. Food was ready really quickly and it was delicious. I think I prefer my greens to have a bit more of an acidic bite (like vinegar), but it was still good. I’d recommend and I’ll be back for more

Absolutely delicious lunch. Chopped brisket sandwich with hash brown hot dish and I added a cornbread fritter since I had read the reviews and so many people loved them. Fritter comes with some super tasty, only-a-touch/barely spicy jalapeño jam on top. DANG this was some good food. The bourbon-whatever-it-was mild BBQ on the side was flavorful, and the brisket was so good it didn’t need the sauce. Even the bun was good, and properly grill-toasted to give it a nice buttery crunch. Hash brown hot dish was very good and didn’t feel like a breakfast food like it can at other places. I was at another store in the strip but the smell of BBQ drew me in, and I am very glad it did. Highly recommended!

  • 4/5 Ruthe L. 2 years ago on Google
The burger was really good, and the fresh buns are amazing. The service was good even though they were busy. The meat had good flavor, the only downside was they cut the brisket with the grain instead of against the grain so you couldn't pull it apart, and it flaked apart in strips like roast beef. Overall it was a good experience, and we would love to try it out again!

Unassuming BBQ joint. You won't see it from the highway. You probably won't even see it from the Main Street that runs past the strip mall it is in. Great barbeque and it looks like everything is made in-house. Sauces, sides, amazing smoked and pulled meats. Stopped in for a quick lunch takeaway and it was quick. Brisket, pulled pork, a side and a few different sauces to try. Their social media stories highlight a lot of their specials. Beers for dine-in are available as well. There were taking orders for Smoked Turkeys (Thanksgiving) while I waited and I plan to try any of their turkey next time I am going through town.
