A
modern,
on-campus
stadium
was
something
the
Gophers
had
lacked
for
decades.
When
this
stadium
was
built,
many
statements
were
made
about
fan
support,
recruiting
gains,
and
overall
success.
While
some
of
these
have
been
fulfilled,
or
improvements
have
been
made,
the
U
still
has
work
to
do
to
be
a
perennial
Big
Ten
contender.
While
this
stadium
leans
toward
a
more
modern
appearance
on
the
inside,
its
exterior
pays
homage
to
Memorial
Stadium's
brick
facade.
The
arched
entries,
named
for
Minnesota's
counties,
are
an
excellent,
and
appropriate,
touch.
The
sightlines
are
good
from
most
any
bench
or
seat,
and
the
scoreboards
and
ribbon
boards
provide
pertinent
game
information.
Concession
offerings
aren't
expansive,
but
serve
what
you'd
expect
at
a
football
stadium.
The
NHL
Stadium
Series
games
between
the
Wild
and
Blackhawks
were
very
enjoyable;
it
was
so
exciting
to
again
see
some
of
our
North
Stars
heroes
back
on
the
ice
for
the
alumni
game--I
never
thought,
as
a
kid,
heartbroken
when
they
moved,
that
I
would
see
it.
To
have
the
Wild
beat
the
star-studded
Blackhawks
amid
flurries
that
Sunday
was
as
it
ought
to
be!
As
a
native
Iowan,
UI
alumnus,
and
ardent
Hawkeye
fan,
I
enjoy
coming
here
for
football
games
to
see
our
teams
battle
for
the
Floyd
of
Rosedale
Trophy.
While
the
pig
loves
his
Iowa
home,
we
must
endeavor
each
year
to
retain
him.
βWe
figured
weβd
take
Floyd
with
us
and
leave
the
timeouts
here."
