This review is not based on the quality of the food, but the repeat occasions where the cashier tacked on a few extra dollars to the final bill and I needed to ask to have it corrected. It's happened multiple times, and it's extremely shady. I won't be coming back, and I highly suggest others pay attention or take their business elsewhere too.

Russo's sandwich quality has dropped over the recent years, while their prices have increased. I paid over $16 for a caprese sandwich that had a few pieces of mozzarella in it. I won't be going back again because it's just not worth it—there are many other local shops that offer a significantly better sandwich at a much lower price.

This review is not about the quality of the food that Russo's offers. Its about the service. You see, I have this habit. Whenever I walk into a shop or small business in this city—which I have been walking into for the past 40 years— the first thing that I do is say hello. "HI, hows it goin" . So Last night around 7:15 pm I walk into an empty Russo's to order a sandwich. I walk up to the counter and I say "hello" . Nothing. The guy behind the counter just looks at me like I got two heads. So I repeat myself. "Hi, hows it going" ? He says, "What do you want? " "May I have the #2 sandwich with Fontina cheese, Prosciutto roasted peppers and balsamic vinaigrette. " "Can't do it." So now I'm thinking, did I just walk into Leopoldi's hardware store by mistake? "We just cleaned up." But its only7:15, and they don't close till 8. So ,OK, he does me the big favor and makes my sandwich Which costs $16.00 and 24 cents. I pay. No Thank You. I'm sorry, but When I pay out $16.26 for a sandwich I expect a thank you. Or put up a sign that says no sandwiches after 7. There are plenty of other places to get a sandwich in Brooklyn. I won't be back.

It's a little pricey for my budget but I can't resist. Panini & wraps are delicious and large for $9 (includes a soda). Great anti-pasta salad bar. Try the prosciutto balls, roasted artichoke hearts, or crabcakes. Good place for vegetarian options. They’ve also got a good cheese case, gelato freezer, a wall of refrigerated pastas & sauces, plus specialty pantry items. During the winter holiday season they carry ALL the Pantone you could want. Credit cards, debit cards, and cash accepted. Wheelchair accessible entrance. Only street parking available. #LetsGuide

I am a fan of their food, but have started going here less often since mask adherence is inconsistent. The staff do not always wear masks, and every delivery person I have seen coming in does not wear a mask. As for the food, I can only speak for their sandwiches and paninis, but I'm a big fan. The portions are large (I find one sandwich is enough for 2 adults) at reasonable prices with good ingredients. Also they don't skimp on the prosciutto! Note the real closing time is closer to 7:45, since the meat slicer is usually cleaned by then (and trash is brought out into the shopping area). Also while they technically open at 9 I have come by multiple days at 9:30 only to find less than half the deli inventory available. When I asked when the mozzarella would be available to buy I was told “maybe in 10 minutes, maybe longer”. After several days of this I had to take my business elsewhere.

This place used to be great, you can find all sorts of Italians products, from dry and fresh sausages and prepared foods, to snacks and drinks, fresh pasta and pasta sauces. Lately though, I've consistently experienced bad customer service from the employees, who simply ignore the customer. To top it all off, yesterday I bought some peppers stuffed with goat cheese which turned out to be fermented and inedible and a bag of taralli (an Italian cracker) which were stale. To the owner: time for staff retraining in customer service and inventory keeping?

I love the sandwiches here, but be warned that they're pretty big, so you may want to split one between two people or save half for later. The fresh pasta and sauces are also great for an easy weeknight dinner when you don't feel like takout or cooking from scratch.

In complete agreement with a review below. Great for pantry items. But staff is surly and prepared items are simply terrible. We got soup that had the whole onion in it, skin and all, and looked like something you’d get in a bad hospital cafeteria. We’ve gotten meat that wasn’t cooked correctly. I hope management could change to make this place good again.

Great food. I love their sandwiches and prepared food. The soppressata is delicious. Fresh baked bread and a nice olive selection. Good cheeses too. Everything about Russo's is top notch,

After years of buying food at Russo's, I became tired of their efforts to sell you expired stuff. The play on the fact that Italian expiration dates are day/month and not month/day, and sell you biscotti or even fresh mozzarella that is totally gone. If you let them know that their fridge is full of expired stuff, they will not replace it. Be careful before buying stuff here. Go to the other Russo on 5th Ave.

I’ve had multiple sandwiches and take home to cook pasta from both this location and the one on 5th. They never miss. Prices, customer service, quality of meats and cheeses…everything is top tier here. No seating options so just be prepared to take your sandwich to go!

Their macaroni salad is so delicious, smoked mozzarella, smoked turkey, marinated mushrooms, artichoke hearts were to die for. It was a miserable rainy night, and it was a highlight to have such a great meal 😋

Delicious prepared foods, you have to try the roasted artichoke hearts! Great pasta & ravioli selection, great olive and cold antipasta selections. Generous portions with the meal platters.

Best sausages of all kinds and smoked mozzarella around. I love the chicken cutlets. Get some vegetables and De Cecco brand pasta and you have a feast! Really expensive but so worth it for one hell of a treat!

Good traditional Italian sandwiches and pasta. Pre made or you can buy pasta to make at home. I usually get a hero. The prices are fair and they taste great. Food is very fresh whenever I went. If u need to have a fulfilling meal. This place will do the job.
