My son is 2 1/2 years old, was taken to this facility for ear pain. First time, he was diagnosed with an ear infection and the nurse practitioner prescribed us with antibiotics. Unfortunately she prescribed double-dose antibiotics for his age and weight limits. Luckily enough, my son developed some rash in his back the first night he took the antibiotics so I took him back to the PCP office the next morning. At the PCP office, his pediatrician was able to correct the dosage for us. If it wasn't for the rash, we would've given my son the double dosage of antibiotics for 10 straight days and who knows what would happen. A month later, my son complained about ear pain again (on a different ear). And of course, it is on a Sunday again and no PCP offices opened. So I took him back here. He was diagnosed with inflamed ear canal and prescribed eardrops antibiotics. Within the same night, his fever spiked up so I took him back to his PCP office the next day again. My pediatrician Was surprised how the express nurse Practitioner did not check for his throat and she was ALSO not impressed how they could diagnose an ear canal infection when they were so much wax in his ears. They pumped water in his ears to clean out all the wax and able to determine: his ears were more than fine. They checked his throat and he was positive for strep. Within 24 hours of being given the right medication, my son felt better. Perhaps as a first time mom with little to no experience, I trusted the medical professionals and basically was neglected twice, back to back, from the same facility. I have also left reviews for upper management with a hope they will take a look at this case as a serious matter and potentially putting more training measurements in place for the staffs. At the end of the day, You are in the business of protecting children who are vulnerable. Some are so young to be able to speak up how they feel after taking certain medications. It is dangerous and life-threatening if wrong dosage or wrong diagnosis are given. And perhaps as a mother, I will not take my kids back to this facility again. This review is not a complaint; it is just an FYI for other parents who are desperate looking for a place get your kids check out on the weekend. Im also hoping that upper management will review this seriously. Thanks Updated: I never got a chance to get back on here to provide update. The center director of the facility made a direct phone calls to me, found out details of what happened and provided reassurance he would make sure more training/procedures would be updated. No excuses were made, he made me feel better when he got straight to the solutions of what will be done, rather than trying to defend any parties involved, which essentially what we all wanted: the kids to be safe and taken care of properly. I didn't like what happened, but to be fair, I wanted to provide more info as to how it was handled by upper management.

I had my daughter here today to see an ENT specialist, which was recommended by her PCP to see one considering this was her third time in three months with strep throat. I didn’t realize I would get an appointment so promptly, so I had called beforehand to make sure they would be able to prescribe her an antibiotic after being seen and was told yes because we had already had an appointment scheduled with her PCP that afternoon. So I went ahead and cancelled the appointment with the PCP figuring I wouldn’t have to take my sick child two different places. Got a call to come to the appointment early if I could make it so was there and hour early. When I got there and tried to self register the computer said it was to early to check in, so the ladies at registration were happy to help. We were then called back by the nurse who was very nice to take us to a room. Once in the room a nurse practitioner came in to see my daughter first. She was extremely nice, asked many questions, and seemed concerned as she looked over my daughter. However when the doctor came in is where my visit took a turn for the worst. He quickly looked in my daughters ears, then nose, and lastly a very quick look at her throat which was the chief complaint. He says we don’t start talking about removing tonsils until strep is reoccurring seven times in one year. He proceeds to tell me they do not perform rapid strep tests there in their office and because he can’t give her a diagnosis he will not prescribe her anything. He told me I should follow up with my PCP or try coming back later to urgent care. After that he says to us you guys may leave now and left the room! It happened so quick I actually didn’t think it was real! I literally wasted my time coming there for what? He didn’t even swab her for strep whether it was rapid or not, no discharge papers explaining what should be done at that point. All while my daughter is sitting there with white pus balls in the back of her throat, swollen glands, can’t swallow without pain, and can barely move her neck saying it hurts. It was a complete waste of my time and a joke! After I had cancelled the appointment with her PCP who lives two minutes from my house to come there, I had to call them when I left and ask that she be seen anyway and she had to wait an extra hour in pain and in tears because she didn’t feel well just to see her doctor at that point!. I can’t say anything about any of the other specialists in that department but I would not recommend seeing Dr. Asper there for an ENT appointment ever!

Had my son here 2 nights ago . Very easy and pleasant experience. Scheduled before I left home , texted when I arrived, they called within 15 mins and registered us. 10 mins later we were called back and ask to enter the facility . A nice nurse Jeremy met us in the lobby and took us back for vitals and put us in a room. Within ten minutes a doctor came in and did a exam on my son. The nurse then did test and we were told what happens next . Today is the day for results, praying they come back good and it’s a easy process to view them!! Thank you UPMC urgent care!!!

My son suffered a burn and another urgent care advised me to go here. I called them and explained the situation and asked them specifically whether they will address this case. They said "yes". It was almost a 20 minute drive. I reached the parking lot and called them again. Gone through all screening questions and explained why I am there. Asked me to pay the copay over phone and I did. They informed me a nurse will call me soon. A few minutes later nurse called me and I had to go through the same screening questions and I also had to explained again the purpose of my visit. Finally I was in with my son. He was in real pain. The nurse assistant took the vitals. Another nurse gave Tylenol. Finally doctor came and after observing my son, she said "We don't handle these kind of burn cases here and you have to go to main hospital". I wasted almost 45 minutes including the driving and paid co-pay just to tell me to go to another hospital.

Gwen was an angel. Really took care of us after being transferred from Washington. The rest of the staff were only a step below an angel because Gwen went that extra mile for us. Everyone was so great there. Some people complain about wait times, but that is just the nature of them taking care of us workers who need to their children to see a doctor at night. Thank you for taking care of my little girl. Jon

I took my 5 years, son here for a stomach pain, and they couldn't help him. We left without any help from them. Am not sure what kind of doctors they have there.

I was there yesterdey around 8.30 pm because my daughter had a tick bite. It was crowded and we can see the doctor at 10 pm. They prescript an antibiotic but it was late and pharmacies were closed. The doctor said that we can get it in the morning. Then I was told that it can be picked up in the giant eagle mcmurray. It is morning now and I came to pick the medicine up but the pharmacist said they did not receive any prescription. I am trying to call them but they are closed now. As far as I know, this antibiotics need to be taken as soon as possible after the tick bite. I would recommend you to go somewhere else.

I brought my 5 and 3 year old for blood draws and it went so smoothly. They were quick, friendly and helped me with both little ones through the process. My 5 year old kept saying it didn't hurt like he thought it would and was very relieved!

The specialist was very attentive to my son. He explained the diagnosis in detail. The follow-up was perfect. It is worth mentioning that they helped us with a translator and documents in our first language.

Everything is good except there no online reservations. Every time the wait is over 100mins and you can't do phone registration and have to be in person. Online registration is limited to 10slots mostly will not get same day.
