I had a really nice experience with Desire hostel, Delhi. All the staff members are really kind and helpful especially Nihal, he is really friendly and helpful and treats everyone nicely. And also the place is safe for girls. Overall a great experience. Will definitely recommend.

They gave me good discount and took care of me very well. Kudos to the staff for keeping the good work going. Location and social life are the biggest assets for this hostel, and the management is coordinating well with these two criteria with great pricing. I would suggest everyone to stay in this hostel atleast for a week to completely absorb the vibes it has. I will visit this hostel each and everytime I visit Delhi.

Great place for a short stay. Close to metro stn and overall a very pleasant and nice locality. There are plenty of good coffee shops nearby as well. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and everything was like a typical backpacking hostel. Hot water was available 24*7. The people are also very nice and place also looked safe for solo female travellers. You can get locker facility by paying for a refundable deposit.

One word, DINGY. Only god knows how this hostel affords a 4.3 rating which should ideally be around 3. That bearded receptionist is rude and unwelcoming. He must mend his way and be at least diplomatic in his dealings. Second, cleanliness is unheard of. Being a clean freak hurts when you have to leave within hours of checking in. Third, the place is dingy and not well lit. At one point suffocation is felt. Only plus is the location. Overall not recommended in the above INR 500 segment. As an Indian I urge the owner to pursue the suggested reforms as this is the very first impression a jet lagged foreign traveler experiences and perceives India after a long tiring journey.

It's a fine place, but not very safe for girls if you're staying in a mixed dorm so do watch out for bad guys. I also felt that the staff were contemptuous and highly unprofessional. The locality where the hostel is placed is actually nice with nearby markets.

Desire hostel is a place you would desire to live in. The thought of living in a same place as 8 people and using the one washroom can sound very unhygienic but this place took hygiene to another level. They take care of all your needs. One can feel safe while living there.

Place is not clean. Most things are either not working or broken. There are no dorm rules, anyone uses any other dorms washroom, so booking of a 6bed dorm is useless.

I had booked a private room owing to prevailing covid situation. Upon arrival I was told that the room was unavailable as another guest had extended his stay. They offered me a room but in a different location (around 5 kms from there). This messed up my itinerary, so I chose to remain there but in a dorm of 6 beds. The dorm washroom wasn't clean and was ill equipped. The mgmt is not very professional and possesses a relaxed attitude towards everything. I have stayed in hostels before and I understand the compromises that entail , but this was a poor experience. One of the dorm residents had severe cough and kept talking to his colleagues over phone about his symptoms & that did scare me as I certainly didn't plan to contract Covid ( atleast ask for rt pcr and health undertaking from guests). Changed my abode the very next day to a better place. I think I prefer only Zostel and The hosteller now Edit : I'm Covid positive after landing home , thanks Desire Hostel and it's covid positive guest. Seriously ,screw you.

Illegal business . There is no board outside about this hostel . This is a common practice in Malviya Nagar. Room full of mosquitoes. Unhygienic conditions. Taking money and giving unexpected poor quality. If you cannot afford to give basic clean amenities, please stop this hidden business! Location is good but no use if your guest cannot survive at all.

I have been travelling to many places and have been staying at many hostels but this one gave me a very bad experience. To point out a few, lack of cleanliness, things are a little bit different than the photos shown. Management could be more enthusiastic Altogether, won't visit that place again.

The best part of this hostel is the location, very elegant neighbourhood with world class market at disposal. I were a staff and it's been a pleasure working here. The management treats us with sheer dignity and respect, making the work place a homely vibe. The reception staff is polite and tackles grievances very maturely. While working here several guests have become my friends, especially the female dorm squad. The hostel is highly safe and comfortable for women of all ages. I have learnt valuable lessons working in the hostel, and I wish luck to anyone looking for careers with the hostel. And for the guests, the whole communal vibe is impeccable. Should visit here if you are looking for a low-key but pleasant experience...

People are fraud here, i have booked one bed and then after confirming everything on mail, i have been told that the bed has been given to someone else, these people are asking for payment before i could even visit. Now they have cancelled my booking stating that someone has made the payment for the bed hence we have given the bed to that person. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH ALL ONLINE HOTEL PORTALS. GUYS BE AWARE, IF YOU GOING TO THIS PLACE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SOME OTHER BOOKING ALSO OTHER WISE THESE PEOPLE ARE JUST GOING TO UPSET YOU BY SAYING THAT YOUR BED HAS BEEN ALLOTED TO SOMEONE ELSE.

It has very affordable price as compared to other hotel in South Delhi.The place is cleaned daily.Staff is helpful if they are present. Something which bothers me is receptionist is not always present there seems like there business is running on auto mode and the bedsheets, towels, matress and blanket seems very old. I think they should renovate or use new ones. Heater was not working properly.

Honestly speaking, I'm disappointed. Place looks much different than the photos. The property isn't clean, sheets aren't clean, with smell. It was freezing, and no heater in the room. There were 2 old men outside the female dorms speaking loudly and continuosly making noise in the middle of the night, which was unbearable and disrespectful (and didn't feel safe). Not worth the money in my opinion. Won't recommend

I was so lucky to find Desire Hostel! It was the first place I went in India and as a solo female traveller, Sunny & Aniket (both work at the hostel) made me feel so welcome and safe. I can't recommend this place more highly for backpackers and travelers. So accommodating, friendly and patient. Thank you so much for such a wonderful introduction to India!

Dear friends, If you are coming this place mostly on weekends so I'll recommend this place guys, this place has positive vibes then other places I visited many places I'm Delhi but this place has given me different vibes . If you need to get the groceries you can easily go by walk the market it's just near the hostel about less them 500 mtrs. Around the hostel full of greenery trees and The Metro Station is near its called Malviya Nagar from hostel it 2 Km it is. Management has good manners to communicate with the guests and they also help you to book the bus or train tickets if you having any errors with your account and all. They also have shared kitchen you can cook your own food there free of cost. I had an amazing experience with Desire Hostel thank you guys. See you soon with my next trip.

Had a shocking stay. I have been coming to this hostel most probably for over 3 years now. But I had a terrible experience this time. The fact that I knew that the cleanliness and hygiene is not maintained at all, and they have also increased the prices from 350 to shocking 700 just for the sharing dormitories. I was shifted to the female dorm and I had a difficulty in sleeping due to some notorious guests making noise at odd hours in the morning plus not maintaining attics. If told them to remain quiet, they would rather act aggressive and ill mannered. And those people like to entertain notorious people and not take action towards any cleanliness and hygiene. They threw my new shoes away and a pack of clothes in the disposal area of the dustbin , I found out about after returning from outside. I could sense very well that the cleaning boy or someone else who worked there must have disappeared them. Later on they found out. He/She kept the shoes and my top was in the dustbin. They give out dirty used blankets to people, not sure how many different people would use it for is a big disappointment. They recently employed a man called Rohit who just sits all day along and drinks right day and night in the reception itself and woos and passes bad comments on women guests whoever checks in which is a shame too. He doesn’t do a thing and would rather make faces if you ask him to take care of cleaning or to maintain the place point out to someone else. He is very disrespectful towards the guests and he made a great scene , not accepting the fact that they should take care of notorious guests and stop entertaining them. I am sure due to his presence , the atmosphere must have got strange a bit. They should hire someone decent who takes their job by heart. I would suggest Mr. Kapil Mittal (the owner) who runs the hostel to replace him with someone else who really likes to do their job. Apart from all that, I am nobody to comment on anybody’s personal lives. Atleast don’t disrespect guests and try to maintain peace and be clean! My stay was very aweful this time due mannerless staff called Rohit!

May be my expectations was high. I usually like everything but not sure this place look clumsy, washroom not proper clean and there was not mob to clean. No hanger to put clothes. However stayed for multiple times here in private room. 2 private rooms available for guests as one of back side got improved immensly. So I stayed in side backside private room with spacious bathroom for 1 night offline booking from 20 Feb to 21 Feb 24. I found immensely disturbing that one of new reception staff post Sept 2022 shouting in front of feemale dorm located by side of private room post midnight. Staff section very disorganised here at the desire hostel and disregard completely private room guest when price of room quite decently costly at hostel level. When staff so mismanaged at hostel then how people living in dorm under 30s behave as per standard of hostel. Reception staff room area and service unreliable. Kitchen located on two floors mostly unused and wasted.

Manager of the hostel looks like she would like for you to drop dead any minute, shower didnt't work, sheets weren't clean and smelled. People in the dorm were extremely inconsiderate. The only good thing is the location i guess.

It's not 2 start hostel or anything No food available, not even tea if you want hot water you have to go to the kitchen heat water yourself... No room service, caretaker were rude.. I just checked in and my bed side where really dirty I told her she said to take cloth and clean it yourself. Then I insisted I will not be doing so and is that how you treat your guest then she clean herself. I reached two hours late bcz of rain.. they didn't even offer me to sit or water untill I did their payment.... And I choose a female dorm I thought the common kitchen will be on same floor but she said me to go to 1st floor and at 11pm I sat alone on 1st floor and boys were smoking there it was super uncomfortable.. people in dorms were nice except few in my case one.. she didn't even allow me to eat in the room bcz she can smell it and other told me that she herself eat in the room. I have class full day from 8am to 10pm. She complains both times that you guys are creating so much sound.. I were using bedside light and doing everything in dark very cautiously still. It was three days and I booked to only sleep as I had 12hr classes daily and here it was mentioned that breakfast lunch dinner is available but that was not the case. If you go and ask anything they refuse. Even I asked a chair for little time they refused eventually they give me cup to drink hot water. If you want literally just a mattress then you can opt for it. Otherwise don't. Next I will opt for hotel room only this was my 1st time in hostel and it was not good They even stole my pillow and towels but luckily I got it back. I heard this is not the 1st time it happened. I am pretty sure that they used it

Its a very good hostel. Which have nice room, quality food like home made and good staff.

The place is situated in a nice and safe locality with a main market nearby. Staffs are really friendly and helpful. It has a nice rooftop where you can chill after the sunrise. Only thing I didn't like, is a guy who roams around the hostel half naked without any dignity. Whenever I try to go sit in the basement, this guy stay with his girlfriend lying together and making other guest uncomfortable to sit there. Come on get a room and keep your intimacy private. The hostel should have strict no PDA policy, it doesn't look nice if you are a first comer.

I found this place filled with extremely friendly people (both management and people staying), the rooms and bathrooms are clean and there are proper hostel etiquette followed by everyone staying which makes it a pleasant stay without much interruptions and I was able to get my work done peacefully even though I was staying in a shared dorm. Another nice thing about this hostel is that it's situated in a very nice neighborhood which made my to and fro communication from nearby places super convenient. I think the place has some inclination towards techo music though, but i ain't complaining! :)

It was my first ever experience of staying in a hostel, spending a night sleeping in bunk bed. And I did it just randomly. Its a cheap, pocket friendly accomodation. I did pay for the breakfast too but I didn't do that as I got up late and was in hurry. The washroom had cockroaches. I'm sure the management will take care of it.

1. This place is great and liveable. 2. The bathroom facilities (the most important thing for me) are fine except that the jet sprayer in the toilet was in need to be washed. 3. The room space is good. 4. Hygiene is not good. We could see the dirt on the quilts and bedsheet.

Stay was ok. However, the owner charged 200 INR caution money for lending a lock, saying he will give it back. It's been a month since my visit and I haven't gotten a single penny back. I have tried contacting, my family tried contacting. No response.

Location is good, but the service offered is not , the person responsible for managing has no sense on how to talk to people , online they mention that the dorms are Air conditioned yet everytime you want to switch on AC you'll have to go down to reception and request them as they say we only turn on during sleep hours . There should be transparency b/w service you offer and what you mention on online sites. Replace the immature people hired at reception (just passed out of school ) with etiquette on how to talk to people and respecting their private space. Additionally if you book this be ready to share you rooms and washroom within you allotted dorm with the staff as they keep coming in your room checking for God knows what and probably they don't have a separate washroom for staff.

This place have some issue with water supply, within 5 days of my stay i have to face water supply issue twice. Apart from that the place is nice. And one more point to note is that AC run from 9 pm to 9 am.

Based on our (group of 3 girls) 2-day stay: If you're expecting a vibe like Zostel or The Hosteller, you probably won't get it. It's a row house converted into a hostel stay in a residential colony. It's pretty dull place, figuratively and literally. A kitchen is available for you to cook your own meal. It's fine if you need a place to just to keep your stuff and crash at night. Management was not great either. There was no one to attend to us at the reception while check in, keeping us waiting for over 30 minutes. None of the contact numbers listed were answered. Comforters weren't replaced for the next guest. We booked a mixed dorm since the female dorm wasn't available. We were not allowed to lock the door even to get dressed, which was inconvenient because dorm-mates and even the helper staff walked in multiple times without knocking. The water purifiers were empty all evening and night. The manager seemed to keep giving the benefit of the doubt to those staying for longer durations, because these dorm-mates, who were all there for over a month, gave us instructions (no locking doors, no playing music, etc) as if we were crashing at their house, which was unnecessary and inconvenient because we did stay pretty decently without causing others inconvenience.
