If someone asks me, which is the most peaceful place in Delhi? I say, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya Dargah. I am absolutely in love with it, it's a very peaceful place with a lot of stories around it. And when I say a lot it means, A-LOT. When you go there the essence is different, like out of the world. The beautiful fragrance of itra [perfume] is all around the place and in the air. I can spend a whole day over there. You will see people of every age, every religion there. A holy place that unites each and every. BEAUTIFUL FEELING. Must go!

The vendors literally scream at you to buy their products. Not a professional way. Don't pay heed to the vendors. Don't get swayed by their manners. Food at some joints is nice... The place however is a bit stinky, walk at your own risk. The lanes are small. But you can buy many things there. Street food can be the main attraction for foodies.

It's the dargah of the famous Sufi saint - Nizamuddin Auliya (as the name suggests!) Many people visit here and feel at peace. A lot of pilgrims often visit too. When you enter here, you'll find a lot of food stalls in the lane leading to the dargah. Tip: submit your footwear at the counter right outside the dargah. When you enter inside, you'll first witness the shrine of famous poet Amit Khusrau, one of the chief disciples of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. The beautiful love story (folklore) of the two of them, is something one should hear/ read about! It's a beautiful place, but it felt somewhat uncomfortable to me due to the overcrowd. The famous Thursday Quawali has also been discontinued due to some online websites selling bogus tickets for the same, a beautiful night that used to go on for free since generations. It's worth a visit and witnessing for yourself!

Nizamuddin Dargah is the dargah (mausoleum) of the Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238–1325 CE). Situated in the Nizamuddin West area of Delhi, the dargah is visited by thousands of pilgrims every week.[1] The site is also known for its evening qawwali devotional music sessions. The descendants of Nizamuddin Auliya look after the whole management of dargah Sharif . Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya (Urdu: سید محمد نظام الدین اولیاء‎‎; sometimes spelled Awliya; 1238 – 3 April 1325), also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Mahbub-e-Ilahi (Urdu: محبوب الٰہی‎ lit. "Beloved of God") was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar, Sufi saint of the Chishti Order, and is one of the most famous Sufis from the Indian Subcontinent.[2] His predecessors were Fariduddin Ganjshakar, Qutbuddin Bakhtiyar Kaki, and Moinuddin Chishti, who were the masters of the Chishti spiritual chain or silsila in the Indian subcontinent. There is something about faith and the virtue of faith and this place transcends normal religion and moves towards spirituality. Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah is one of the holiest of SUFI Shrines in Delhi, with hundreds of threads being tied on the lattice windows, carrying worshippers' prayers. The serenity for the soul is attained at this place. The scent of rose water and incense sticks and the qawwali in the background will take you to the magic lite feeling.  You can find the poor of the poorest and the richest of the richest here who come here seeking the blessings and peace. There will be a vegetarian food served for all the people who come here to this place. It is believed that all your wishes and prayers will be granted by the Sufi master. Thousands of Muslims including Hindus, Christians and people from other religions visit Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah every week. The mausolea of poet Hazrat Amir Khusro and Mughal princess Jehan Ara Begum are also located within the Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah complex, and Inayat Khan's mausoleum is just around the corner. It is the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin and a pilgrimage site for Sufi devotees and other people from around the world.

Syed Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya was one of the most famous Sufi saints from the Indian subcontinent region. Also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin, and Mahbub-e-Ilahi (Beloved of God), he was a Sunni Muslim scholar and Sufi saint of the Chishti Order. Like most of the Chishti Sufi saints, Nizamuddin Auliya stressed love as a means of realising God. He believed the love of God implied a love of humanity. He had a major influence on the Muslims of Delhi and the world over.

Another visit to dargah.. peaceful place.. People of every religion visit dargah.. Symbol of unity in today's world of hate.. Must visit. Beware of fake khadim.. they will just call you and will ask you to write your name in their register.. now they will ask for donations which will go into their pockets. Don't fall into the trap.. just visit dargah, pray and ignore them.. Suggestion: There should be a centralised donation system for maintenance of dargah premises and to help of needy people..

*Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah A wonderful experience at the tomb of the Sufi Saint Nizamuddin Aulia in Delhi, which is right opposite the much more famous and more visited huge tomb and garden of the Emperor Humayun Visiting Dargah Nizamuddin Auliya is not just a tourist experience; it is a transformative journey of the heart and spirit. It is a place where people from all walks of life come together to seek solace, find inspiration, and experience the power of devotion. My visit to this sacred shrine was a humbling and spiritually enriching experience that I will forever cherish. What struck me most during my visit was the inclusive nature of the dargah. People of all faiths and backgrounds were welcomed with open arms, fostering an environment of tolerance and acceptance. It was heartening to witness individuals from different walks of life coming together in a shared quest for spiritual enlightenment and inner peace. * there are some annoying things # Everyone is asking for money. Its crowded and a place buzzing with people. 1)About visit to the main shrine: i. Men as well as Women are advised to cover their heads while entering the dargah. ii. In case if the Dargah is crowded, it is advised to visit the Dargah with Khadim, because then you will be getting quick darshan along with the Khadim. Now, Khadims are the local preist of the Dargah who can take you directly inside so that you can offer your prayers. iii. At the end you are advised to give some offering, either you can give the offering/donation to Khadim himself or you can ask him to take you to Dargah office where you will get receipt of the offering which you give. We prefer the later method of giving donation. iv. Sometimes if you are lucky enough, you can see live kawalis going on in the Dargah premises. Hope my review will help some fellow pilgrims in their pilgrimage.

Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah is one of the most visited places in Delhi. The place is dedicated to the renowned Saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. The tomb was built in 1325 after the death of Hazarat Nizamuddin. He was one of the world's most influential saints of the Sufi Chishti Order. He was the spiritual successor of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer. The was renovated and decorated by Firoz Shah Tughlaq, as well as by later rulers. The present structure was constructed by a nobleman named Faridun Khan in 1562 AD. The structure consists of a square chamber surrounded by verandahs, which are pierced by arched openings. The dome on top of the tomb is decorated with vertical stripes of black marble and is crowned by a lotus-cresting. This grand tomb has lattice screens, marble arches, and courtyards. Devotees tie red threads to these screens with the belief that their wishes would be granted. Inside the tomb, the shrine is covered with scented dark green cloth. Devotees offer prayers, shower rose petals, and light incense sticks before the shrines.

The Dargah is Historical.!! Being a Hindu it was my first time visiting this Dargah, but most of them inside the Main Dargah where polite with us. Suggestions to everyone who is new, don't keep you Sleepers or Shoes at the beginning of the road to dargah, as you have to walk for around 100m from main road.

Anyone can visit this shrine. There is also a masjid inside. The shrine is usually overcrowded, so make your plan accordingly. Be active in your senses, pickpockets and khadims may block your way. Do not donate unnecessarily, they have separate donation boxes there.

It is a spiritual place/cemetery where many Muslim spiritual leaders of the part are resting, one being the famous sufi saint nizamudddin Aawliya. Anyone can enter and pray at the cemetery irrespective of religion. Like other old Delhi area, this place also represents and reminds medieval old Delhi. The narrow way and the market by the roadside make the place a bit crowded.

A magical visit to this dargah. Was filled with peace, Sufism and culture. Visit to this place bring in a lot of peace to the soul. You could enjoy Sufi music here and see around some art and culture and revive the old memories. Hazarat Nizamuddin is the nearest metro station to this dargah and is around 2km to the dargah. To listen to qawaali, you could visit anyday in the evening. There are kind of festivity if you visit this place during basant panchami

When you reach Dargah, shopkeepers will force you to keep sleepers at there shop so they can ask you to buy flowers. Buying flowers is up to you.

The Dargah, first time visited a place like this and it was a good experience indeed. It is one of the must visit location being considered as a prominent place for visit for a Muslim. I'm not sure if every Dargah has restrictions on entry of women near the main area but I did wanted to experience it closely. However, just few processes that I was not aware of was helped by my travel buddy. She suggested to take oil polised on our hands from the people where we burn intense sticks. Also when you submit a minimal donation as they write in the diary, your name will be read out loud in the prayers (heard from her) . Qawwali was something I wanted to see but it didn't happen. Maybe as written over internet it's a Thursday thing. But people doing namaaz altogether is something that I witnessed there and it appeared altogether a different experience.

The descendants of Nizamuddin Auliya look after the whole management of dargah Sharif. The tombs of Amir Khusrau, Nizamuddin's disciple, and Jehan Ara Begum, Shah Jahan's daughter, are located at the entrance to the complex.[4] Ziauddin Barani[5] and Muhammad Shah are also buried here.[6] Overall, the dargah complex has more than 70 graves.[7] The complex was renovated and restored by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture around 2010.Nizamuddin's tomb has a white dome. The main structure was built by Muhammad bin Tughluq in 1325, following Nizamuddin's death. Firuz Shah Tughlaq later repaired the structure and suspended four golden cups from the dome's recesses. Nawab Khurshid Jah of Hyderabad’s legendary Paigah Family gifted the marble balustrade that surrounds the grave. The present dome was built by Faridun Khan in 1562. The structure underwent many additions over the years.[9] The dome is about six metres in diameter.[10] The dargah is surrounded by a marble patio and is covered with intricate jalis (transl. trellis walls).[6] The dargah complex also has a wazookhana (transl. wash basin).[11][12]Next to the dargah is the Jamat Khana Masjid. This mosque is built of red sandstone[13] and has three bays. Its stone walls are carved with inscriptions of texts from the Quran. The mosque has arches that have been embellished with lotus buds, in addition to the facade of its dome having ornamental medallions. The structure was built during the reign of Alauddin Khalji by his son Khizr Khan. Completed between 1312 and 1313, Khizr was responsible for the central dome and hall, and was a follower of Nizamuddin. Around 1325, when Muhammad bin Tughlaq took over the reign, he constructed the two adjoining halls, each of which has two domes. The southern hall, chhoti masjid (transl. small mosque) is restricted to women and features a wooden door. The large dome of the mosque features a golden bowl that is suspended from the centre.

To escape from the frenetic city life, people from all walks of life to seek solace and blessing of God visit the Nizamuddin Dargah. Situated in the Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin is the dargah (mausoleum) of one of the world's most famous Sufi saints, Nizamuddin Auliya (1238 - 1325 CE). Inside the dargah complex, one can find the tombs of poet Amir Khusro, Mughal princess Jehan Ara Begum, and Inayat Khan. Best Time to Visit: Throughout the year; specially on Thursday because of evening qawwali session. To see the dargah in its full gleam, one should visit here during the Urs Festival death anniversary of the Sufi saint, Amir Khusro Transportation: #By Road: There are regular buses from other major cities of the country to New Delhi. From all the major bus terminals and railway stations of Delhi, an auto or bus for the dargah would be easily available. If commuting by Delhi Metro, the nearest metro station would be Indraprastha (Blue line) and Jangpura (Violet line). #By Railway: From all the states of India, trains are easily available for New Delhi. Once tourists reach any of the railways station in Delhi, they can take a taxi, cab or auto. And can even hop on the Delhi Metro. By Air: Indira Gandhi Airport is the nearest airport to reach Dargah. From the airport, one can take a cab or hop on the bus. Delhi's airport too has a good metro connectivity.

Nizamuddin Auliya was one of the most famous Sufi saints from the Indian subcontinent region. Nizamuddin Auliya was born in 1238 AD in Baduan, Uttar Pradesh to Syed Abdullah bin Ahmad Al Hussaini Badayuni and Bibi Zulekha. His father died when Nizamuddin was just five years old. At the age of 21, Nizamuddin went to Ajodhan (present Pakpattan Sharif in Pakistan) to become a disciple of the Sufi saint Fariduddin Ganjshakar, also known as Baba Farid. Every year during the month of Ramzan he would visit Ajodhan in presence of Baba Farid. On his third visit to Ajodhan, Baba Farid made him his successor. Soon after his visit, Nizamuddin received news that Baba Farid had died. Nizamuddin lived at various places in Delhi, before finally settling down in Ghiyaspur. He built his Khanqah (place of worship and holding Sufi rituals) which was thronged with all kinds of people, rich and poor alike. Some of the famous disciples of Nizamuddin includes - Shaikh Nasiruddin Chirag Delhavi, Amir Khusro, and the royal poet of the Delhi Sultanate. He died on April 3, 1325. His dargah (shrine) 'Hazrat Nizamuddin Aauliya Mehboob E Elahi Dargah' was built in 1562 and is situated in the Nizamuddin West area of Delhi. Nizamuddin Dargah is visited by thousands of pilgrims every week. The Dargah is very famous for its evening qawwali devotional music sessions.

My first visit to Hazrat Nizamuddin was a surprising one. I wanted to go to this serene paradise for a long time but some hurdles were occuring repeatedly, but one day one of my friends told me to come to his home and he said that we'll go to a place. I didn't have much to do on that day, so i went with him. He unexpectedly brought me to this incredible, scared place where i always wanted to come. How lucky huh! I can't say what i actually felt when i entered into the narrow streets on Hazrat Nizamuddin. It was like a whole new experience for me that i never experienced before. So surreal and full of enthusiasm. I was filled with immense excitement and curiosity to know what actually this place is about, in fact I've already heard about its value and holiness before but i wanted to see that in real life. I finally reached the main gate of it where i had to give my shoes to a person to keep them safe as long as I'm inside the dargah, so i gave them to a person who was behind me and kept waving at me. When i got into it and saw the dargah at first time, i completely stunned! My mind just started wobbling and my soul rose till the height of mountains. After spending some time and observing people all around me who came to ask for blessings of Allah there, i started to feel a sense of deep attachment to this place like I've been coming to this place for a long time. It didn't feel like a first time to me and that was the kind of impression i got there. I took only 2 to 3 pictures there because it was prohibited to take photos of dargah, so i didnt try to go against the convictions of People. So many devotees were there, crying, chanting, praying for blessings, praying for mercy, asking for goodness, health and some were just seeming fulfilled like they don't need anything else. I talked to only few people there due to the fear because i was seriously not accustomed to such an uncanny behaviour that i saw of many locals there. Anyway, it was an amazing visit to see the holiness of dargah and why it has a very special place in people's hearts. After that impromptu visit, I've been to Hazrat Nizamuddin several times. Go there, spend some time and you'll experience a different energy there.

His holiness Hazrat Nizamuddin still laying his pious hand on people in need. And near his holy feet there lies Amir Khusrau, the beloved of Hazrat Nizamuddin. You’ll know what devotion means once you’re here.

Hazrath nizamuddin dargah is a religious place where so many pilgrims comes to visit. They pray and pay their respects. Most girls or women are wearing scarf to enter the dargah. I also did wear scarf. The shop people will make u buy flowers and cloths to show respect to the dargah. It's personal choices and not a necessity. Its said that Tuesdays are the qawali day. I went to visit there at a Friday evening yet i got the opportunity to witness Qawwali ( i think some shooting was happening there). It was beautiful. A belief i found intersting there was that u can buy thread to knot at the grills taking a wish in ur mind and it may come true in life. It was really nice atmosphere there.

Such a good diving vibrating place. You can feel the positivity irrespective of which religion you are. So calm and peaceful place. If you sit some time idle it will be awesome. I prefer to sit alone and hear sufi songs like - Khwaja Mere Khwaja, kun faya kun, Arziyan etc., water flows through your eyes. So, many eateries there on the way to this place. We can try varities of non-veg.
