National Museum has several conserved things from the oldest civilization 'The Indus Valley Civilization' and other popular dynasties of India. There are cultural outfits of different regions like North East. I have visited the Museum some 3-4 months back and most of the museum was under construction. Canteen for staff only- • There is no canteen for tourists and you will not be allowed to carry any bag with you ( can carry only a water bottle). • There's a water cooler near the canteen. • There are restroom nera the museums on the same floor. • There's a locker room for the bags to keep them safe.

A great place to visit if you like to learn about Indian history. It has a great collection of artefacts and other historical subjects; vast enough that you'll spend hours walking in the galleries and still not see everything! The galleries and exhibitions are beautifully designed, there are also extra activities to do here like a photo booth, free postcards, jewellery making station, colouring and painting station, etc. There are touch screen surfaces too which you can interact with to learn more about history.

I recently visited this place and these are my following observations: 1. I was really surprised to see how well they have maintained this place. 2. The artifacts, paintings and sculptures are well kept and they are in good condition as well. 3. The paintings and sculptures belong to ancient as well as mediaeval times which includes Gupta's, Delhi Sultanate and Mughals. 4. I will recommend this place to all the history geeks as well as art enthusiasts. 5. I have one criticism and that is about the cafeteria. The staff there was poorly trained and unprofessional. The options for eating were also quite limited.

National Museum of India, I think this is one of the must visits in the Delhi city. There are so many things to look and learn. The museum consist of many sections and they all categorized. You must visit this place if you are interested about Indian culture and the whole civilization. There was some kind of a cultural event going on at the time of our visit. It's really good and pleasant. I would say this national museum is fairly priced even for the foreigners. Well maintained. Clean wash rooms. Add this place to your visit list if you are visiting Delhi.

The fully Ac museum. It's the best museum if you wanna know the culture and heritage of India. For Indians the ticket price is 20 rupees only and for foreign nationals the price is 500 or 600 not exactly remembered. The museum contains architecture, history, monuments, currency history, foreign nations relationships, art work, Caves knowledge etc. One can easily spend 4-6hours in this museum. Also washrooms are well cleaned. Kids can enjoy it there a lot as there are diy tools for making some art. There is a cafeteria also with reasonable price. Overall, it was a very good feeling when you know your heritage and culture and that's too in just 20 rupees.

It’s a massive museum. Could only cover 1 floor in 3hours. And there are 3 floors to cover. Strongly recommend to visit the museum to understand history of India. They also have these interactive kiosks where you can create art and craft and take home as souvenir. Will definitely be visiting again soon to cover rest of the floors.

A nice place to visit. Very informational place. A place where you are able to know and explore the history. This place is big, so if you want to explore each and every thing you need 2-3 hours. The place is divided into different sections which make things more easy.

Nice museum. One of Delhi's must visit places. Good collection of Indian heritage and history. The Museum presently holds approximately 2,00,000 objects of a diverse nature, both Indian as well as foreign, and its holdings cover a time span of more than five thousand years of Indian cultural heritage. Best time to visit is around 11:00 am in the morning and complete visit in around three to four hours. Bags and baagage can be kept in the cloak room outside the museum building.

Entry ticket required that costs 20/- per head. Good place. Those who have a keen interest in history and cultures should surely visit the place. You may find interesting arts and crafts. Inside the museum, you'll various culture's museums as the Harappa museum and all. There is a skeleton of a woman with bangles in her hand that depicts she was married. Few may find this museum boring like me. But you can have little fun there if you are going in a group. And can click good photos there. Also, there are few works in progress.

The national museum in Delhi is one of the biggest and most informative and explored museums the preserved items from BC 2700 to date. The collection of stone works from metal and paper to cloth, coins to medals, small boat to modern ships are a great collection with foot notes and detailed description really helpful to understand the eras and culture of that times. The antiques are preserved with great efforts and the staff are so polite and cordial. Many more things to be added soon.

This place is permanently closed now. I have fond memories of this place from my childhood. It's a pity that I am unable to show this place to my kids. The security guard even told me that, there is a possibility that instead of the museum, they may built a new auditorium. It is sad

Soon after Gandhi's assassination in 1948, an attempt was made to preserve the objects attached to him. But the existing museum was established in 1961 at Raj Ghat, New Delhi. It was inaugurated by the then President Rajendra Prasad. History: - Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948. Shortly after his death, Gandhians started searching across India for anything related to Gandhi. Personal items, newspapers and books originally associated with Gandhi were taken to Mumbai. In 1951, the items were moved to buildings near Kota House in New Delhi. The museum then moved into a mansion in 1957. In 1959, the Gandhi Museum was moved next to the tomb of Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat, New Delhi. The museum was officially opened in 1961 on the 13th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, when it was formally inaugurated by the then President of India, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. Operations: Till 1965 it was operated by Gandhi Memorial Fund, on whose grounds the museum is situated. Gandhi Memorial Museum Committee was formed in 1965. Now he sees the operation of Gandhi Museum. The current director of the committee is A. If you're eager to discover your cultural and architectural roots, this museum is an absolute gem. It's a fully air-conditioned haven for diving into India's rich history and heritage. For just 20 rupees, Indians can immerse themselves in a treasure trove of exhibits spanning architecture, history, art, currency evolution, international relations, and even cave knowledge. Allow yourself 4-6 hours to truly absorb it all. Clean restrooms and a kid-friendly zone with DIY art tools add to the experience. Don't miss the reasonably priced cafeteria either. Unveil your heritage and culture for a mere 20 rupees—what a heartwarming journey!

Our country has a rich tradition of art and culture. We’re fortunate that we have a large number of beautifully preserved remnants from multiple eras and dynasties. The museum is the best way to glimpse this abundance, from the comfort of your own city. Indians, unaware of their glorious antecedents, will certainly feel proud of their heritage by paying a visit. It’s also a wonderful excursion for children of all ages, who can see their country’s legacy in a new light.

The largest and finest museum in India. The museum is well structured and will give you a journey from ancient period to modern technologies. The museum could give you a clear idea on the development of Indian territory and they ordered in a fantastic way. Many items were transferred and not returned yet after the G20 summit. This place will also be enjoyed by the kids. You can get the refreshments from a small canteen there. Also the entry fee is very reasonable. If any research scholars are there in history, you can earn plenty of knowledge from there. Because I took more than a day to visit every area and understand deeply. But anyway you should spend at least half a day to see everything. Ofcourse this place is a Pride of our Nation.

Museum was too advanced. Every type of historic moments are memorable there. There is a huge place and things to see in museum. Actually we need about 3-4 hours to visit whole edges of the museum. There is facility of paper, colour and pencil means if you want to draw any design or paintings you may try there. Different types of things which were found during the harappan and mohenjodro time that all are here and we were very surprised to see that types of old things. Every painting and sculptures have a label which inform us about them and there uses in historic times.

This museum houses lots of interesting artifacts and good historical information. For those who are curiously thirsty this is a good place to quench that need. It is located in a nice area where you can visit other museums when you are done with this one. I would recommend giving yourself at least 3 hours to get through most parts of the museum. On the flipside, it's so sad to see a museum with such amazing artifacts so poorly placed and managed. Poorly kept bathrooms and the building lacks a lot of maintenance work. Exhibit glass cases were dirty with rag stains, dust in and out of the exhibits. Rude security staff. I was asked several times if I was even Indian. Even felt like the visitors of the museum just came in to take selfies in front of the exhibits and continuously conversed in full volume. Even if half of these issues are taken care of, this could be a stunning castle that houses priceless Indian heritage.

The State Museum, Lucknow, located within the premises of the Lucknow Zoo. This magnificent museum extremely impressive with its etchings, decorative arts, woodworks, housing sculptures, paintings, bronze statues, includes Egyptian collections including Egyptian mummy, pictorial records of first struggle for independence, old photos, lithography, documents, model of Residency, and the objects like swords, medals, guns, shields, rank badges, and cannons and so on from the ancient epoch. This review is difficult to write.. because while the museum is indeed very well set up and would undoubtedly be an enjoyable experience for art and relic lovers, I did not find it interesting at all as I didn’t expect the National Museum to be just another art museum. In the capital of the country, bearing the title of National Museum, I would expect it to expound on the growth of a nation. I would expect it to detail how everyday life changes from the early days of the land to the advent of the British to achieving independence, not to mention everything in between like Ghandi, The Partition, etc. I’ve visited museums all over the world and have always enjoyed their stories of nation-building. Thus, I find it strange that I am unable locate a single museum in India that share its progress from the past to the present, and I cannot believe that I am the only person who is frustrated by this void. Why is one of the oldest civilizations in the world not telling their story?

It is not a proper Museum but Gandhi Darshan, it showcases life of Mahatma through 100's of photo-pictures. The different phases of Mahatma's life are categorized and given a separate compartment. Special Attractions: the boat used during Dandi March 1930 and the vehicle used to carry his mortal remains, miniscule Sabarmati Ashram models. This premises is mainly visited by Gandhian Scholars, Drinking water available. The Mahatma Gandhi Sangrahalaya is a museum themed on the martyred 'Father of the Nation' Bapu Mahatma Gandhi, located just opposite to his memorial at the Rajghat. It is a large complex with an upasanalaya themed upon Sabarmati Ashrama, exhibitions of the 'charka', and a huge collection of photographs of the life of Gandhiji and things he used in his lifetime. Photography/Videography is not allowed within the museum. This place is basically a visual biography of Gandhi. Every event of his life is represented by an image which is either a photograph or a sketch. One can quickly lose interest here as the texts for the images aren't placed conveniently, has no air conditioning, no guide, no audio tours etc. It's highlight is that one may find documents and rare pictures of Gandhi which is not easily available online. Remembering the father of our nation. You'll be able to see a lot many things used by the great man, including the dress with the blood marks (used during his final moments). It will be a journey through the life and lifestyle of the great Mahatma. You'll be reminded of some of major incidents in our struggle for independence. A learning opportunity in the areas of our history.

I thought the National Museum was a bit of a mixed bag. The entrance fee is okay by European standards, but by Indian standard it’s really expensive. The entrance come with an audio guide. Some of the commentary were very good, while other bits were ridiculously repetitive and the same could be said for the exhibits. Some of the sections were excellent, while other parts were distinctly average. The stone and bronze sculpture sections, miniature paintings, the Mauryan and Gupta sections were all very good with equally good commentary in the audio guides. The special exhibition on Chinese religious artifacts was exceptional and leads the way in what the museum could do. The rest of the museum was very average or closed. As an example, the Ajanta section was nothing more than reproduction photocopies of the paintings from the famous cave temples. Overall I enjoyed the visit, but I had to minus one star for some of the sections that in my humble opinion are unworthy of being in a national museum.

There are many historically relevant artifacts are kept their ranging from pre-historic era to modern times. It was established in 1949.This gallery exhibits arms from the Stone Age up to the Moderen Age. This should be the jewel in India's cultural crown, but it is shockingly poor in facilities, and in presentation, and simply does not compare with similar museums in capital cities elsewhere in the world. Why, when India has such riches? Why doesn't the government care? Why are those visiting posing only for selfies, rather than study or appreciation? Educationally, it is far behind, revealing a vacuum in teaching, appreciation, and content.

Audio players to tell information about the main attractions is available at the entry counter. There is a small canteen in the premises to have your meals or snacks.

The national museum is a wealth of information. It's divided into three floors. From extensive pottery, dancing girl, tools, storage jars, skeleton of a lady of the Harappan times, to Mauryan history, to Buddhist times to gupta age to maritime history, coins, paintings, to name a few, it definitely is a place to visit if you want to know about the history of our country. It is huge, so would suggest taking out a lot of time to visit. Also houses a canteen within the premises.

A very informative place to visit... It gives an insight about our past history dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization... We can also get the information on about the different tribes of the country from this very place. A visualization of our past is what one can expect from this place. People of all ages irrespective of the place of origin must visit the NATIONAL MUSUEM.

So many things to explore but very little jaw dropping sections, Harappan civilization section was really very nice and has so many tools and equipment of that age. Arms and Ammunition section is closed nowadays and other section don't catch the eyes. Also bronze sculpture section is also a view catching section. A kind of not up to the level of national museum feeling can be found here. The cafe behind the museum premises is really nice. You can go there and eat with variety of food available. Place is really peaceful and nice.

Museums is like a boon companion of mine! Still not over how MAGICAL. If you're in delhi, it's a must visit. And I'm attaching my foremost; Harappan civilization, Mughals, east india company, Buddha, and medals. And getting here is untroubled, it's situated near to Udyog Bhawan metro station, You can exit from gate number 2, and then 4-5min walking distance.

One of the best places for you if you love history and are interested in how sculptures evolved over time. Make sufficient time for yourself to visit the museum as it will take almost 3-4 hours to visit the whole place. It remains closed on Monday and on other days it opens from 10-5. There is also a food court in order for you and your family to enjoy at the end. 🌈⚡️

This is such a wonderful place for a full day picnic... Besides the star attraction "Skyshow" in English at 11:30 and 3:00 and in Hindi at 1:00 and 4:00 it is a perfect place for full day picnic. The complex has a huge garden, a Mughal era monument and an open air cafeteria on the roof. Kids will have so much fun running around or playing games like cricket or football.

This used to be crown jewel of museums in Delhi. The fire 2 tears back destroyed it completely. Invaluable artefacts chronicling the vast history of Indian subcontinent were sadly lost to the flames. What's even more disheartening is the fact that in addition to the neglect which lead to the destruction of this priceless treasure the government even now is showing little enthusiasm to restore this important monument to its previous glory. Even after 3 tears the place is just mangled remains scattered hither and yon.

Special Attractions: the boat used during Dandi March 1930 and the vehicle used to carry his mortal remains, miniscule Sabarmati Ashram models. One of the best Museum of India. Spanning across 3 floors, it showcases the sculptures, paintings and various artifacts from Indus Valley Civilization upto the Indian Independence. There is a good management due to which it never gets crowded. The museum is fully AC which makes it a good place to visit in Summers 😁. The entry ticket is Rs 20 for Indians and Rs 620 for Foreigners. There is a canteen which has good quality yet very cheap food. Photography is allowed here so feel free to use mobiles but only without flash. The museum is very Big, so it takes around 5 hrs to complete it. I would recommend everyone to visit this Museum and try to soak in as much knowledge as you can.

A great place to see the historical data, artifacts, statues, sculptures, etc. of ancient times, it's mind blowing experience, a very good place to visit here with friends, family members, etc. and the place is kids friendly too. The only issues are parking space, aggressive behaviour of staff, restrooms are not functional, poor hygiene, and drinking water is hot. These regular public conveniences are necessary and needs to be fixed quickly. Otherwise, rest things are good.

A versatile mix of Royal and Natural History. This museum has the largest collection of coins from prehistoric to modern era in all of Asia. There are also ancient sculpture displays from early BC years, buddhist and jain artifacts and weapon displays from prehistoric to British era. Download the Uttar Pradesh State Museum app before visiting and you can get access to an electronic guide once you connect to the museum's local WiFi on your visit. All in all, it is worth a visit of 4 hrs if you really want to see and read everything on display. I would suggest starting from the top floor and coming down so you know to time yourself properly.

The NMNH owes its genesis to Smt. Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister, who while considering new projects to be initiated in 1972 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of India's Independence, decided that the country needs a Museum of Natural History to depict its flora, fauna and mineral wealth to provide an out of school facility for education of children and to promote environmental awareness among the masses. The NMNH opened its doors to the public in a rented building in Mandi house on 5th June 1978, coinciding symbolically with the World Environment Day. From a single Museum located in New Delhi, the NMNH has extended its geographical range by establishing Regional Museums of Natural History (RMNH) in many parts of the Country such as Southern Region (Mysore), Central Region (Bhopal) and Eastern Region (Bhubaneswar). Two more Museums are being established in Western Region (Sawai Madhopur) and North-Eastern Region (Gangtok).

A good place for history lovers. At a meagre entry fee of Rs 20, you get to learn a lot. Photography is allowed. Huge lawns and cafeteria greet you near the entrance. At the auditorium located near entrance of the main building, you get to watch a documentary on history. Ground floor contains a lot of information on Indus Valley civilisation. Building is circular in layout with vacant space on inner side. It has 3 floors. There's a lot of information on art, culture, architecture, paintings, etc. for later periods of Indian history. Indian mythology also finds space in the museum. I was surprised to see a sculpture in corridor on which it was mentioned that it was Goddess of I'll luck, i.e., deity for bad luck ! There's a separate section for NE India. One section is dedicated to maritime history. Tables have been arranged for children to make greetings cards, do colouring, make book marks, etc.

I would suggest that there should be guides in the museum as they can tell the stories and background about the object beecause it is not easy for everyone to understand the value or importance of any object place there they will remain just stones and people can get bored. I strongly suggest the authorities to have guides in the museum because I have seen people get bored there and just leaving the site as soon as possible and I don't even blame them.

A museum is a place where old relics are kept for public show. A visit to a museum adds much to our knowledge of the past. Yesterday, I had a chance to visit a museum in New Delhi. I went there with my friend. It was a huge building divided into various sections. Each section had different exhibits. We went to the museum. First of all, we saw our own galaxy of stars. There were stars painted on the dome ceiling. It was a very good scene. It was felt that we were actually in the galaxy of stars. After that, we saw another section. This section contained weapons of the olden times. There were bows, arrows, swords, daggers, helmets, and spikes. The things were arranged to show the battle scenes. The adjacent room had the household goods of ancient times. These things were dug out from the historical sites. The domestic life of the ancient people was at display. One could see pots, pans, silver ornaments, musical instruments, clothes, and many other things. There were many Indian made things. These have been made by Indian scientists. Solar cookers, solar light system, models of dams and hydroelectric projects were being displayed. After seeing them one can estimate how Indians had made progress after Independence. Now we were tired. We returned to our home in the late evening after enjoying the day.

It was amazing experience to see the culture we have a long time ago. It contain things of Harappan civilization. At that time, which type of utensils, games, coins they are having. Most things are similar to us. It was quite interesting for me to know they also have chess and ludo with a bit difference. Along with this, it also have Buddhist museum inside it where you can find his belongings.

If you like history or even if you like knowing about our country, this is a must visit place for you. I loved the collection from Indus valley civilization. For me the extra bonus was the digital interaction, where 1 can learn about the figures in details. I feel there should have been some collection from the recent past, ie British era. Also I felt sad that many places were closed for people.

There are many interesting parts in the museum, like the coin museum, where everything is displayed like how they were made in the early era, the barter system. The coins of various dynasties. Other than that, the archeological work where all the paintings and pieces from the early era are kept is also beautiful, you’ll be mesmerised by seeing the intricate work details on some of the items. For food, there’s a canteen outside, where outdoor sitting is also available and food was okay, the prices are also normal. It’s definitely worth a visit. Washroom hygiene:4/5

It was a lovely experience to visit National Museum. One can come across great artefacts of Harappan and other periods. If you are willing to find pieces of archaeology such as Dinosaur / Animal bones and fossils then you will be disappointed. You will have to visit Museums of Kolkata, Gujarat and Mumbai for that. This museum has most of the artefacts dedicated human history, which contains large numbers of artefacts from Buddhist history as well as Harappan history including the latest excavations at Rakhigarhi.

Awesome place to visit. It will take around 4h to complete it. There are different sections and all of them are superb. You can't miss anyone. All sections have different significance and i am sure, you will definitely love them. For example, arts section, coins section, painting section, Different emperors of modern India, Different God, pots of ancient time from smallest to largest one, etc etc. Cannot define here. Simply it's awesome place.. Love it... And last one. Canteen is situated outside of the Museum, so better is eat before visiting the museum.....

Amongst the finest museums in the country. The Harappan gallery is awesome. Wish the items were displayed with more love and better captions. The historical significance of the findings needs to be clearly stated. The section on development of Indian scripts is an eye opener. Audio Guide is excellent- with clear descriptions and crisp diction. More items should be included in it.

Oh wow what a place!! National Museum Delhi is a great place where you can find a large number of historic antiquities. It's multifloor, with each floor it has many sections.. Here you can find ancient paintings, statues, coins etc. It has Harrapan Civilisation's antiquities too. It's a totally adventurous place where you interact with things of different times. The most likely thing here is that it has a large variety of items but also it makes you to spend a lot of time in looking each item carefully. If every item is looked for a while then it may take nearly 3 hours. It has a human skeleton too. And also miniatures of many monuments and ancient bulidings.

(Translated by Google) Ghandi Museum. . You may not need to be told who Mahatma Ghandi is. . Here is a brief reflection of you about the truth: . "What is the truth? . The matter contains its difficulties. As far as I am concerned, I have resolved them by saying that it is the internal voice that speaks to us. They will ask me: How does it happen then that there are different spirits that conceive dissimilar and even opposite truths? It happens that the human spirit has to go through countless intermediaries before drawing up a conclusion, and its evolution is not the same at all. * The truth never hurts a just cause. * In truth, I perceive beauty: I discover it through truth. All that is true, not just the exact ideas, but also the frank faces, the faithful portraits and the most natural songs are objects of beauty, and even of immense beauty sometimes. There are very few who know how to discern the beauty that emanates from the truth. " . From Ghandi we learn the importance of hearing our inner truth. The need we have to listen to ourselves in order to become integral, coherent and transparent to others. (Original) Museo de Ghandi. .

This complex houses various things which I will mention below: Generic information first - toilets are neat and clean. There is a mini canteen inside the complex and a full service canteen in the parking lot. Food is good, quantity sufficient and prices reasonable. One can also buy evergreen Choley Kulcha for Rs20 a plate outside the parking lot from a street vendor. Parking is free. Souvenir shop is there in parking lot. This complex along with Rajghat, deserves a day worth of visit. Museum - it consists of hundreds of photographs and paintings of his lifetime of work with detailed descriptions. It is structured in rooms in progression and also houses the boat in which he traveled, the jeep in which his body was carried for cremation and more things. Entry is free. It is very well ventilated which makes it difficult to spend sufficient time during extreme winters or summers. Journey through sculptures made of mud - they are also in the process of installing touch screen informative computer screens. Khadi Outlet - this is where various types of garments are made from Khadi cloth and are sold here too. Decent collection. Library - tons of books, free for all to read here. Books outlet - where they sell books. IGNOU - Office of Indira Gandhi National Open University. Always crowded by College goers and their parents to collect books and other work. Khadi Gram Udyog Training Center - where trainings are conducted on various things often sold through Khadi Outlets like honey business. Industrial Training Center - an excellent place which offers short term courses for a long list of vocations. Incubation Center - which organizes half day workshops on various businesses followed by active assistance in guiding to scale and run a business.

For a national museum this was disappointing as it is poorly maintained and staffed with minimal exhibits although it does have some items of interest. Do not expect anything on the order of the British Museum or the Prada or the Louvre. There is one room where there are models of some of the more interesting temples/buildings to be found in India. Does have clean bathrooms.

Train tour= ₹25 for adult. ₹5 for children. A guard is available on train. An emergency button is also available in each coach.

This is one of the best equipped museums in India. Has several sections including Harappan civilization, bronzes section, miniature paintings, sculptures from maurya, Gupta era, Buddhist art, north east section, maritime museum, ajanta paintings etc. There are three floors and lots to see and learn. Now reopened after covid lockdown. Entry fees rupees 20 for Indian, 500 foreigner. There is an app that can help to navigate the museum. Also has a canteen. Good for spending a few hours for all the collections.

There were paintings of Rama, Laxman and Sita, Draupadi Cheer Haran, Krishna with his Gopikas, Yashodhara etc There were paintings belonging to Mughal period beautifully painted There were manuscripts of Mahabharat, the Bhagwat Puran, the Quran etc. There were items from Britain, U.S.A., U.S.S.R., Germany etc. On the next floor achievements of states like Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh were displayed. The National Museum or National Museum of India in New Delhi is one of the largest museums in India. Situated on Janpath Road, the museum is a hotspot for people who are indulged in art, culture, and history. After granting the appointment from the Government in India, in 1946 the Maurice Gwyer Committee laid the foundation stone of the National Museum. The National Museum of India was completed and inaugurated on 15th August 1949. This marvel functions under the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India.

I felt that one can take one section at a time and read, study (paintings from himachal with each city depicting a particular trait, harrapan civilization, Mughals civilization and monuments from various states with a particular message etc) and then visit the museum, it will be a great learning! It is an huge space. They have an excellent collection of sculptures, coins and paintings. There is also seperate galleries dedicated to musical instruments and ships. But they need to work on the overall infrastructure and displays. Also, I feel they should have directions for movement so that people don't miss galleries. The toilets are clean. There are lifts and ramps for good accessibility.

So, firstly let me share my thoughts about this place. Located in the heart of the city. Just beside Ministry of external affairs. Place is pretty awesome. People having any more of transport can go here. I mean to say that they can drive their car and bikes as well. So parking is sufficient. But again if it's crowded you have to think about it. So, the first impression is cool kindoff. Cause located in the best place and its constructed nicely. Like in the year 1969 may be. But around that for sure. Also, there is a good security and all. People who are interested in Indian artifacts and relics and monuments, coins, paintings, history, civilization, mainly can go and visit. If you are a person of not much into this, this is not your place. I'm so very much enthusiastic towards kings and kingdom, armory and all but this isn't there. So, enjoy if you are into all of these. I'm posting some cool photos see and enjoy.

This place is a blessing to appreciate the real art... it would be a good idea to decide a day, put your phones in pocket and take a tour of this museum..treat your eyes with real deal of art instead of the screens.. trust me it would be worth it.... You can thank me later 😉 I've attended workshops here too, I was also awarded for my painting so I've a special personal connect to this place! This is in the heart of Delhi.. quite near to India gate.. so covinient to reach here, drive your car, get a bus ride or get down at Udyog Bhawan or Central Secretariat metro station.. easy and accessible for all.. it's a treasure for people pursuing art and crafts, inspiring paintings and creatives take your heart away.. this is a must visit for local Delhi-ites like me or people travelling from other States!

Amazing place to visit, if u r a history fanatic, or just an Indian having the temper to know about their country's rich past. The artefacts and collection at the museum is fantastic, also if u really want a great experience, keep a lot of time at your hands. Even a day might not be enough to visit the museum thoroughly. There are also culture and art shows at different times. Some galleries like Buddhist art, centran asian art, were closed due to renovation. But, nevertheless, a must place to visit!

Last time I visited National Museum was in year around 2004(school days). Since then a lot of things has changed here and that's a Good change. Now visual effects, large screens to explain via animations is the best thing. Very informative. History will not be difficult and boring if you visit here. Astonishing arts, sculptures, ornaments, musical instruments, tribal arts, dresses and so many other things . Nearest metro station Udhyog Vihar (Yellow line)

National museum is a great place to go. The ticket price is just rupees 20 and free for school students. It covers most of the Indian history and has dedicated sections to paintings and bronze statues. The jewelry section is not open always. So you might wanna ask that with the authorities. There is a very beautiful projection room where one can watch Ramayana. There is a dedicated area for indian maritime security forces and their evolution. My favourite part was the varanasi section and the Harappa civilization section. You can also your mobile phone as a guide. There is an application which you can download to access all the information.

With more various galleries and an interactive digital guide, National Museum provides a deep insight into Indian history and heritage. It is not only a major tourist spot but an heaven for students and scholars who study historical objects and themes related to past. Spread over two floors the museum contains various artefacts ranging from decorative items to scupltures, coins and much more. Over the years the museum has changed a lot and recently opened its door to public with a new look. With multiple digital sign boards and an amalgamation of modern ancient architecture, the museum beautifully carries the essence of past and future. The museum contains an auditorium, library and a shop as well. It is equipped with proper washroom facilities and proper cleanliness protocols are followed at all times. It is a must visit for all!

It's always nostalgic to visit the National Museum in Delhi. Expertly curated, it's a great visit for anybody learning or looking to revisit their history lessons from school. The museum claims to have free guided tours daily at 1030 and 1430 hrs but there was no guide around the day we visited. Audio guides are no longer available for use (Covid rules) but many artifacts have a QR code that you can scan to listen to an Audio description.

The National Museum of Delhi is a treasure trove of ancient artefacts dating back to the Indus Valley Civilization. There are prehistoric bronze and terracotta sculptors that are around 4000 years old. The museum also hosts a coin collection showing the evolution of coins from the sixth century BC to the present times. Indian crafts and handicrafts hold a prominent place in the world

A museum is a window into a country's culture and heritage! A very clean and neat museum with wheelchair accessibility. It houses rare findings from the Harappan civilization to jewels and thrones of kings and rulers! I deduct the one star for I feel there is a lack of lustre that should be attached to such royal and ancient history! I hope the Govt and Ministry find people like us to ideate and bring up the experience for increasing footsteps. I feel it is an excellent day out spot and should be the go to for youth instead of bars!

First of all i would like to mention that the security check is more than expected and up to mark. The officials are friendly but not way more. The museum depicts the Indian heritage and culture, the painting, the literature, the currency, the religious and the traditional aspects. The cafeteria is little bit expensive and food is disgusting.

  • 4/5 Madhulika L. 1 year ago on Google
The National Museum spreads out over two floors of the massive National Museum building near India Gate. You enter from Gate No. 3; just before you enter, there’s the ticket counter. Past security, you turn left and go towards the main museum. On the way, a path leads towards a relatively recently inaugurated annex which includes, among other facilities, a cafeteria and a souvenir shop. Free guided tours begin from the main foyer of the museum, on the ground floor, at fixed times, and are regularly announced. On our latest visit to the museum, in May 2022, we only wanted to visit two special exhibitions, so we skipped this tour, but if you have limited time and only want to see the highlights of the collection, this is probably a good option. The museum has many galleries spread over two floors; there are also frequent special exhibitions. The museum building has toilets on every floor, drinking water, benches at strategic locations, and—a big draw with the kiddies—little DIY stations in the main corridor, beside the windows, where you can do everything from making paper necklaces (like the ones shown on famous old stone statues, materials and instructions provided) to colouring illustrations of museum exhibits. If you live in or around Delhi and can visit the Museum frequently, I’d recommend exploring this over several visits. There’s so much to see, doing more than (say) three galleries at a go can make it too much to absorb at one time.

The National Museum in Delhi is like a time-traveling adventure through India's history and cool stuff. When you walk in, it's like stepping into a place where old things tell stories. There are super old sculptures and paintings that show how India was way back – like, ancient times. You can check out cool stuff from the Mughal period, where kings and queens were all about fancy art. There's even a part that talks about the time when India was fighting for freedom, with pictures and things that belonged to important people. And it's not just about history books; there's also a bunch of beautiful things to look at. Imagine a gallery full of super old bling – jewelry and sparkly stuff from different parts of India. Plus, they've got a special section that's all about the really, really old Indus Valley Civilization. It's like finding a time capsule! The museum is set up in a way that makes it easy to walk around and see everything without getting lost. Sometimes, they even bring in new stuff for special shows. So, if you're into history, art, or just curious about India, this place is like a big, fascinating playground of the past. Totally worth checking out!
