ABOUT ASOKA MISSION Asoka Mission is an organization which was formed to propagate the teachings and values connected with Buddhism. It is a Buddhist organisation that follows the Asokan Legacy to promote and propagate the value-based teachings (Dharma in Sanskrit and Dhamma in Pali) of the Buddha, for over six decades. It was founded in 1948 by Venerable Dharmavara Mahathera, an eminent Cambodian monk. It is a registered society headquartered in a centuries old heritage campus spread over an area of around 12.5 acres in New Delhi. It was taken over and revitalized by Most Venerable Lama Lobzang in 1975, after Venerable Dharmavara left India to establish centers in the USA. In order to promote Asokan Legacy, Asoka Mission has over the years organized many national and international conclaves, cultural exchanges and conferences including a Global Buddhist Congregation in 2011. The Global Buddhist Congregation in 2011 led to the formation of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), in 2013. Lama Lobzang’s dedication to promote living Buddhist heritage and his work associated with Engaged Buddhism has transformed him into a living legend, and has established the Asoka Mission as an important Centre for preservation, promotion and propagation of Buddhist heritage all over the world. Over the years Asoka Mission has assumed importance as an Organisation working in consonance with the teachings of the Buddha. True to its name and purpose, the Asoka Mission has been tirelessly working for taking forward the legacy of King Asoka the Great, the true follower of the Dharma (Dhamma). Ashoka Mission has been tirelessly working for propagation and Promotion of Buddhism over the decades. Ashokan legacy is one of the key components under these noble efforts. Health care for the poor and needy is one of the key focus areas of Ashoka Mission. Free Medical Camps at Leh and Kargil are being organised every year under the Asoka Mission Health Care Initiative, with the support of Super Specialist doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, belonging to different medical disciplines.

From providing education and healthcare to underprivileged communities to offering vocational training and empowerment programs, Ashoka Mission is actively addressing the most pressing issues faced by marginalized individuals. One aspect that sets Ashoka Mission apart is their holistic approach to development. They understand that true transformation comes from addressing multiple dimensions of a person's life. By providing education and skill-building opportunities, they equip individuals with the tools they need to break the cycle of poverty and achieve long-term sustainability. Additionally, their focus on healthcare ensures that communities have access to essential medical services, promoting overall well-being.
