It's a holy place for the Sikh community. Bhai Mati DasĀ (Punjabi: ąØąØ¾ąØˆ ąØ®ąØ¤ą©€ ąØ¦ąØ¾ąØø; died 1675) along with his younger brotherĀ Bhai Sati DasĀ wereĀ martyrsof earlyĀ SikhĀ history. Bhai Mati Das,Ā Bhai Dayala, and Bhai Sati Das were all executed atĀ kotwaliĀ (police-station) in theĀ Chandni ChowkĀ area ofĀ Delhi, under the express orders of emperorĀ AurangzebĀ just before the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Bhai Mati Das was executed by being bound between two pillars and cut into two. Bhai Mati Das is regarded as a great martyr by theĀ Sikh. Ā The date of his martyrdom, is celebrated in certain parts ofĀ South AsiaĀ as a public holiday.Ā Bhai Mati Das' martydom finds explicit mention in the daily supplication prayers ofĀ Ardas. The Bhai Mati Das Sati Das Museum was built in honor of Bhai Mati Das and Bhai Sati Das in Delhi oppositeĀ Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Chandni Chowk the spot where they were martyred

This was a Fuwara Chowk earlier, I have no idea that when the name was changed. Weather it was changed legally by the authorities or Gurudwara Prambandhak Committee did this from their own. Also, why Gurudwara has encroched and started doing their rituals with adding their boards, putting some additional religious material. Due to this Devotees visit inside and pray. My only concern is that the area is already very conjusted with full of traffic all the time till 9 on. Then why authority has allowed them to do additional activities at this chowk. Converting Historical places into some other shape is not right when modification become an obstacle for the commuters. Covering that point with grills is illegal and obstacle to traffic. Installing religious "Nissan Sahib" on an existing structure is the disrespect of "Nissan Sahib". Gurudwara Commeettee should have renovate or beautify it with its original format like fountain should be a fountain. Adding additional structure, I mean our religious Nissan Sahib is not looking beautiful/good on a dead/nonfunctional fountain. Note: I'm a big fan of sikh religion and do all type of Sewa at BanglaSahib Gurudwara. I do Langar Sewa, Joda Sewa and always visit Gurudwara Sheeshganj Sahib whenever visit Chandani Chowk. Why, I didn't like the idea of converting this Fuwara Chowk area because earlier it was only a shape of Fuwara with Water arrangements. Also, it was covering less space incomparison of current situation. The beauty of complete Old Delhi is being ruined everyday due to encrotchment. It's really SAD! Nannd

An historical museum of Sikh community. If someone want to know about sikh community then come here. This museum located close to Bhai mati das chowk or Gurudwara Sis Ganz sahib. Bhai mati das is a sikh martyr. He was executed by mughal emperor during 17th century. Very good and peaceful place. Please visit with your family or friends. Old Delhi is the most charming old quarter of Indiaā€™s capital city. Over here, you will have a unique experience by breathing the atmosphere of its bazaars and visiting jewels such as Jama Masjid or the Red Fort. In other words, for those history lovers, here you can learn about the origin of one of the most populated megalopolises in the world. From the beginning, when you walk through its narrow streets and overwhelming bazaars, youā€™ll feel like youā€™re taking a trip back in time. Most important, be sure to delve into the remote era of the Silk Road.

It is a sacred place for Sikh religious history - as here only Bhai Mati Das (companion of 9th Sikh guru Guru Tegh Bahadur ji) was executed by the orders of Aurangzeb. Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala were too executed here. It is a divine plane at the junction point. People stop and pray here. The nearest metro station is Chandni Chowk.

Bhai Mati Das Chowk is situated on the adjoining point of Zorabar Singh Marg with Main Market Chandni Chowk Delhi. A historical chowk in memory of Bhai Mati Das is very near to Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib. A very big chowk in the Asia's biggest Market Chandni Chowk Delhi. Previously there is Kotwali Police Station which is now shifted to other place. 1 km away from Red Fort and 1 km away from Fatehpuei and also 1 km away from Delhi Main Railway Station.

This is the place where Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dayala Das were brutally Martyred by the Mughal Muslims on 9th of November 1675 (Two days before the martyrdom of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji). This holy place is situated just opposite to Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib.

Bhai Mati Das Chowk, just in front of Sisganj Gurudwara in Chandni Chowk area, has a memorial of Bhai Mati Das who was an aide of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Bhai Mati Das,Ā Bhai Dayala, and Bhai Sati Das were executed at aĀ kotwaliĀ (police-station) in theĀ Chandni ChowkĀ  under the express orders of EmperorĀ AurangzebĀ just before the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. Bhai Mati Das, the first to be martyred, was asked if he had any final wishes. He replied that he desired to be facing towards the guru on his execution. #BhaiMatiDasChauk

This museum has got the paintings representing the Great Sikh History. Museum is well maintained and just next to the Holy Martyrdom place at Chandni chowk. Bhai Mati Das Niwas is also here.

The Sisganj Gurdwara in the Old City of Delhi is one of the most revered Sikh pilgrimage centers in India. The Gurdwara (Sikh temple) holds a special place in the heart of the Sikh community as it is believed to be the place of martyrdom of Tegh Bahadur (1621ā€“1675), the ninth Sikh Guru. It is prominently located on Chandni Chowk, the main street of Old Delhi. Across from the gurudwara is a square with a blue-and-white colonial-era fountain, now converted into a Sikh temple attached to the gurudwara. Popularly called Bhai Mati Das Chowk (Bhai Mati Das Chowk), it is the place of martyrdom of three followers of the Guru. Close to these two holy places, at the same intersection, is the Bhai Mati Das Museum, which is the subject of this essay.

Good collection of literature about Sikh religion. Located close to Bhai Mati Das Chowk in Chandni Chowk and Sis Ganj Gurudwara. Bhai Mati Das on who's name this chowk/circle is named is a Sikh martyr. He was executed on the order of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb during 17th Century (exact date not known) because he refused to convert to Islam. His younger brother Bhai Sati Das was also executed with him near Sunehri Masjid near Chandni Chowk in 1675. Bhai Mati Das-Bhai Sati Das Sikh Museum displaying rich information on Sikh religion and its Guru's is located near Bhai Mati Das Chowk which is used to be very crowded, in fact it is very small place just opposite Gurudwra Sis Ganj in Chandni Chowk. Do pay homage to martyrs and visit museum.
