Maharajas' Express to travel like a Maharaja: If you want to experience the palace moving on rails, take the Maharajas' Express train and you will understand why it is named Maharajas' Express. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has been operating such a luxury train service since March 2010 to attract not only domestic but also foreign tourists. It is known as the most luxurious train journey in the world. This luxury train has 23 coaches. It offers all the amenities of an all-star hotel, including accommodation on the train, dining hall, and bar. All these coaches are "specially designed" to help in luxurious train travel. The shock absorbers of the coaches are high so there is no vibration. It also has facilities like LCD TV, Wi-Fi, eco-friendly toilet facility, direct communication. Helpline, individual climate control facility, safety deposit box for passengers to keep their valuables etc. It has 43 en-suites in 14 coaches and can carry 88 passengers. While traveling on this train, you can visit Mumbai, Ajanta, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Rathampore, Agra, New Delhi. The tour plan is 7 days and 8 nights. This tour program is named 'Heritage of India'. Treasure of India (3 days 4 nights): It is designed to travel around Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur. I just saw the video's of this train and very much proud to be Indian. As we have this type of train that attract foreigners to come and enjoyed their life journey. It's really nice too see the red carpet when someone wants to get down or arrived because we always read about it in Bollywood only. So keep enjoying the biggest hit and best train travel of India that cover lots of historical routes of India. Jai hind jai bharat

Just returned last night from a wonderful 12 day trip to India with 3 girlfriends. We traveled on the Maharajahs Express train for 8 days through Rajastan on their "Heritage of India" Journey. Just wanted to post that it was the most interesting trip I have ever taken. We loved the experience and the train. We started in Mumbai and ended in Delhi, visiting the Ajanta Caves,(Amazing!) Bikaner, Udaipur, Jodphur,Jaipur, Rathambore, Tiger retreat, (could have skipped that one, no tigers visible and it was very cold. We are spoiled, as it looked a lot like our Colorado) and Agra, home of the Taj Mahal which was completely fogged out, but once inside the building, you could see the absolute elegance and enduring grandeur. The train experience was just the best and we felt the only way to be continually comfortable and safely travel to all of these places with minimum hassle. The train only had 38 passengers although it could go up to 88 and we were treated like royalty. The accommodations are good and the staff created a luxury feeling with their constant good will and treatment. Food was good and they offered Continental as well as Indian Food, Vegetarian and Meat offerings. They said it was all organic, but we were still careful to avoid the raw vegetables and uncooked foods just to be safe for our American stomachs. The alcohol was plentiful. They included house brands all the time and then you could buy top shelf if you wanted to upgrade your taste. Lots of special experiences were included and beautiful dinners and luncheons in elegant hotels and palaces as well as an amazing banquet in the desert dunes. Modes of transport included Camels, Elephants, Tuk Tuks, Rickshaws, Jeeps and good tours. Good Guides daily were included and optional additional tours were available if you wanted to go non-stop. I am posting as it was really a remarkable experience that others should know about. We saw it on CBS Sunday Morning TV Show and decided to book and were really glad we did it!! Husbands were not as interested and they really missed a lot, but it was actually really fun with the girls, who were much more patient with the shopping needs! I would highly recommend to all! Janet

From the beginning to the end I found this was the most magical experience I ever had traveling. Felt like a true maharani from mini parades arriving to each destinations and the staff addressing any concerns . The chef was great since I’m allergic to certain foods he went above and beyond to give me the best dishes without any drama . Anil was amazing and funny as he kept me company at the bar all the time and Lakhpat was on point and kind as my butler . Overall you guys are rockstars and thank you Raj . Would definitely be back

One of the first few members to be on the train and experience it first hand. The train runs from Delhi Safadarjung station and does five itineraries currently doing only four. It is one of the best trains and has one several laurels for the country including the best train in the world consecutively for four years. The train has two dining cars each unique on its own and has to launch cars which are set on different teams one of the launch course also acts as a discotheque. The train runs from the month of October till the end of March every year and can be taken for charters as well. It’s once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel on this train and experience journey. For those of you who are into the mainstream line of opulence this is the train to be must do must experience once in your life time

On board Maharajas' Express, it is easy to forget you are on a train. The sheer size of the rooms, the amazing dining areas and the lounge big enough to be your neighborhood 's only hangout place, just about everything about this train is wonderful. The luxury is unmatched and hospitality, well, you have to experience it to believe it.

I travel a lot and I've had several amazing journeys, but the one in Maharajas' Express is clearly the most memorable. I had a fantastic time visiting some of the most prominent tourist spots in India and exploring the vast cultural heritage. Furthermore, the world-class services offered in the train ensure complete comfort. From the luxurious suites to the classy restaurants providing delicious food from multiple cuisines, each and every feature of this train is simply excellent. The suites are equipped with a multitude of facilities like cabin-controlled air conditioning, LCD television, DVD player, wardrobe, personal safe, dial phone and Internet connection.

We booked and paid a substantial part of the fare. For covid reasons the journey was cancelled by the train company several times. We decided to claim a refund and rebook when things returned to normal. The Maharajah web site itself clearly states that refunds will be made in full. After considerable effort and trouble, we received some of the money back, but the company withheld around $US700 for administrative costs, bank charges and exchange rate fluctuations! I should add the company we booked through - Luxury Train Club - gave very good service and I am happy to recommend them. But the Maharajah company itself, apparently owned by the Indian government, were appalling. Excuses, various unspecified and dubious costs and a general lack of customer service. I would strongly recommend anyone be very careful when booking in these uncertain times. Because you will be charged for a lot of money for whatever costs they incur!

There is more to a holiday than just cool destinations and luxurious hotels. I realized this when I traveled in Maharajas' Express. While the train covers several exciting tourist spots, it also provides an amazing traveling experience. The train truly personifies luxury with its lavish cabins equipped with a plethora of facilities like LCD TV, DVD player, temperature control, dial phone and WiFi Internet connection to name a few. There is a mini-pantry at the end of every coach, along with a valet who promptly responds every time passengers need his services. Furthermore, we also got to savor delicious food offered at the two classy restaurants in this train.
