Went for the first time to attend the Aadi Mahotsav. It is very big, most importantly you can park your card inside. The stadium is not in proper working condition as the Poola and all were closed but it is best for all these kind of activities as in that way you can move in easily. This Aadi Mahotsav which is help till 27 Feb is an amazing place to be. The tribes showcasing their product is simply amazing. There are cultural program every evening around 6pm and you can get various authentic cuisines from all over India. Overall amazing experience

Major Dhyan Chand previously known as National Stadium is just opposite Zoo Delhi. Gate No.5 is opposite to Dargah Matka Peer shah and to be here if you are coming Metro than get down station supreme court and take an auto ,because it's a little far for walking to gate no.5 or 3. very spacious place for events and all 👍

Attended the jashn e rakhta event at this venue. It was mesmerising. Have been here always to watch hockey matches. But this was something else. One complaint the washrooms were totally unkept and absolutely stinking.

We went with our Family to the Indian Cocktail Fest day 1 in 1st April 2023. Surprisingly it was raining Cats and Dogs so we thought the event gonna be a flop, however, when we reached there, the crowd was in abundance. The event was managed well. There were staff for assisting with parking, doing checkins, managing the crowd and for other activities. The events was organised well. Since Day 1 was impacted by rain, they allowed day 1 tickets for Day 2 too. Check the vibe below. You should visit the Event once. Cheers!!

The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, commonly known by its former name National Stadium, is a field hockey stadium in New Delhi, India. The stadium is named after former Indian field hockey player, Dhyan Chand. It served as the venue for the 1st Asian Games in 1951. The stadium is spread over 17,500 square metres in the 37-acre (150,000 m2) complex. It has three synthetic pitches — two conform to international standards and a third is for practice. A new polygrass turf was laid on all pitches equipped with new sprinkler systems. The main field has a capacity to seat about 16,200 spectators. The second pitch outside the main arena has 900 permanent seats and with a provision of 1,600 temporary seats. The two competitive pitches are flood-lit with foldable floodlight towers (hinged mast lights) which will provide 2,200 lux illumination during the competition. This will enable high definition TV transmission.

Nice place to attend Melas and Exhibitions, Ample of Parking Space inside the stadium premises. Not too busy so you have space to walk and enjoy the mela. Keep informed about the event calendar of the stadium, so you don't miss the fun of the exciting mela organised by different govt institutions. Worth trying, best thing entry free and free parking. I attended Adi Mahotsav focussed on All tribal communities across India from different participanting states with their unique crafts and natural produce. Mesmerized with so unique regional food it offered. Truly enjoyed it.

Overall the stadium structure is good and the staff are also fine but there is no water in toilet. Even sometimes the water is not present in washroom. Otherwise it is good or atleast average. I was visiting there in jashne Rekhta program.

The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, commonly known by its former name National Stadium, is a field hockey stadium in New Delhi, India. The stadium is named after former Indian field hockey player, Dhyan Chand. It served as the venue for the 1st Asian Games in 1951. The stadium was built in 1933 as a gift for Delhi from the Maharaja of Bhavnagar, it was originally a multipurpose stadium and named the Irwin Amphitheatre. It was designed by Anthony S. DeMillo and opened by Lord Willingdon. As per the original plans of architect of New Delhi Edwin Lutyens there was to be garden at the site, to provide a clear view of the historic Purana Quila (Old Fort) in the backdrop, as it lay perpendicular to the axis beginning from Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's House) through Rajpath and ending at the India Gate, his plans were however overruled. It was renamed National Stadium before the 1951 Asian Games, Dhyan Chand's name was added in 2002. On 24 January 2010 it became the first venue for the 2010 Commonwealth Games to be unveiled. The stadium was revamped at a cost of Rs 262 crore, 50 crore more than originally budgeted. The stands, which were earthen embankments, were demolished and a new rectangular seating bowl was constructed in its place.

Major Dhyan Chand national stadium is situated near India gate and is very Astheticly built by government. Nice stadium with all required stuff for sport, trained professional coaches and training on demand is very good here. The stadium covers a massive area of 17,500 square metres in the 37-acre (150,000 m2) complex. It has three synthetic pitches out of which two adhere to international standards and a third is used for practice purposes. In recent renovations, new polygrass turf has been laid on all pitches and they are equipped with new sprinkler systems. The main field has a seating capacity for about 16,200 spectators and the second pitch outside the main arena has 900 permanent seats and arrangements can be made for 1,600 temporary seats. The two competitive pitches are flood-lit with foldable floodlight towers (hinged mast lights) which provides 2,200 lux illumination during the competition. This assists in enabling high definition TV transmission. Both the pitches are outfitted with amenities like changing rooms for players, easy lounges and a VVIP lounge. The stadium is full air-conditioned and has lifts; there are obstruction free provisions for athletes and spectators who are physically challenged. The stadium gets steady power supply from two grids which has a backup based on generator sets and battery uninterrupted power supply. The renovation also includes some ‘Green Initiatives’, like Recycling of turf curing of water, Thermal insulation of roof, Rain water collection and reuse, Use of waterless urinals etc. One can avail of shuttle services from Pragati Maidan, Udyog Bhavan, Mandi House, Khan Market, Central Secretariat, Barakhamba Metro Station to reach National Stadium, Delhi.

I attended Jash ae rekhta here. Clearly this place has a very less space to host a cultural event like Jash ae rekhta. But the management and arrangement was so soothing that it doesn’t matter. Also, the beauty of Jashn ae rekhta is the audience they have. Everyone managed to enjoy the performance by calmly placing them wherever possible. Washroom in the building was not maintained. Whole corridor was stinking. And most of the urinals were blocked.

The hockey stadium, pulsating with the raw energy of the game, provides a riveting experience for fans of field hockey. From the moment you step into the stadium, the vibrant atmosphere envelops you, creating an electric backdrop for the on-field action. The seating arrangement, strategically positioned around the field, ensures an unobstructed view of the dynamic plays unfolding on the turf. The stadium's design, with well-maintained facilities, elevates the overall spectator experience, blending modern comfort with the thrill of the game. The field itself serves as a canvas for the graceful yet powerful ballet of field hockey. Players showcase their agility and strategic prowess, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with each sprint, dribble, and decisive strike towards the goal. The stadium ambiance transcends the intensity of the game, fostering a sense of unity among fans. Whether passionately supporting the home team or appreciating the skill of rival players, the stadium becomes a communal space for shared enthusiasm and sportsmanship. In summary, this hockey stadium, dedicated to field hockey, not only hosts thrilling matches but also embodies the spirit of teamwork, athleticism, and fan camaraderie. It stands as a testament to the timeless appeal of this dynamic sport and provides an immersive platform for enthusiasts to revel in the joy of field hockey.

I went to Major Dhyan Chand Station just few days ago to celebrate Jashn-e-Rekhta foundation day. I really enjoyed that day and the stadium because talking about that stadium is really good and very big. It's one of the most popular stadium in Delhi because it's a hockey Stadium and Hockey is the Indian National game.

The stadium was constructed in 1933 and was opened in 1951 when it hosted the 1st Asian Games in the same year. The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium is spread over 37 acres and has three synthetic pitches, in line with international standards. Was there for Adimahotsav 2023 . Enough parking , central , Had a glimpse of the sports facility and they were decently maintained . Had enough space for events and we'll organized. Toilet was in a messy condition . ( Needs staff attention specially when you have guests/ footfall coming in high volume ) . No pics/ only videos of the event @ venue. Gate no 5 was the entry.

I visit it during Jashn-e-Rekhta 2022 by looking at the crowd present on that day it looked small but its off course a great stadium. We have seen it in games and also in Shah Rukh Khan staring Chak De India.

I went here to attend jashn e rekhta event which happened after 2 years of break due to COVID. Too much crowded to usse bachne ke liye we enter to main stadium and a hockey match was going on, it was more entertaining than jashen e rekhta. Team won the match by 6-1. Rest I tried litti chokha there and it was really delicious.

It's a huge and comfy place for holding big public events... It's located near India gate and is very easily commutable via metro, bus, cabs, auto, etc. I visited there to attend Jashn-e-Rekhta 2022 and enjoyed myself very much!

Stadium is connected with India gate and it has multiple practice grounds with main ground. I was visited for official purpose 1st time, but it's good to share that there are multiple gates for entry in MDC stadium and most of them are closed. Gate no. 7 from the side of coast guard headquarter is always open for entry and if you are visiting 1st time than you should search on google map coast guard headquarter instead of MDC stadium to reach there.
