I spent a week at the Ambassador on a work trip recently. First, the good: it was clean and comfortable enough, the staff was excellent, the food in the restaurant was good, the price was good, it was extremely safe, and the location was excellent. The not so good: the hotel is pretty dated and (though clean) the rooms could really use a refresh (it looks like the bathrooms have been renovated, however). The pool is out of service and the amenities are fairly minimal compared with other properties. Overall, I was pretty happy with my stay, but for me it lost a star with the condition of the property. That said, I'd have no issue going back and staying there again.

Very disappointed with the Hotel. The pictures appear to be when the property was freshly painted. They are misleading. The hotel is old, drab, smelly carpets, old rooms and furniture. The lift can take hardly 3 people. Very disappointing for a 5 star hotel priced at what it is. Made a mistake in booking this property. May never come back.

The property is extremely good, with superb location. Very close to Khan market with very polite and supportive staff. You might run across a celebrity in the hallway as well. It's a 5 star hotel with 5 star rates. Food is very expensive. The property is old but very well maintained.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Ambassador, New Delhi - IHCL SeleQtions, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This luxurious hotel is a true gem nestled in the heart of the bustling capital city, offering a perfect blend of modern comfort and traditional charm. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff, whose hospitality exceeded my expectations. The check-in process was seamless, and I was immediately struck by the elegant and classic decor in the lobby. The hotel's old-world charm is evident in every corner, with its vintage-style furniture and art pieces that pay homage to India's rich history. The room I stayed in was spacious and exquisitely appointed. It boasted modern amenities, a comfortable bed, and a well-designed bathroom. The view from my room overlooked the lush gardens, providing a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The attention to detail in the room's design and cleanliness was impressive and added to the overall sense of luxury. One of the highlights of my stay was the dining experience at the hotel. The various restaurants on the property offered a diverse range of cuisines, from traditional Indian dishes to international fare. The breakfast buffet was extensive, with a wide selection of fresh and delicious options. I highly recommend dining at The Yellow Brick Road, a charming restaurant that serves delectable Indian and international dishes in a cozy, vintage setting. The Ambassador, New Delhi - IHCL SeleQtions also has excellent facilities, including a well-equipped fitness center and a serene spa where you can unwind and relax. The outdoor swimming pool was a perfect place to cool off and soak in the sun. The hotel's central location in New Delhi is another notable advantage. It's within easy reach of major attractions, government buildings, and popular markets, making it a great choice for both leisure and business travelers. The Ambassador, New Delhi - IHCL SeleQtions offers an exceptional blend of luxury, comfort, and heritage. What truly sets it apart is the impeccable service provided by the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure guests have a memorable and comfortable stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a top-tier experience in the heart of New Delhi. My stay here was nothing short of outstanding, and I can't wait to return.

More of a vintage property under the Taj banner. Large rooms, clean and great views from the large balconies. However very basic toiletries. No cream, or conditioner provided. No irons in the room too. When asked,it was provided, however was told to return quickly as it seems there was a queue. Surprised one cheap iron in the entire hotel. No ironing board provided. The breakfast spread is decent, but the service is too good. The staff at breakfast bend backwards . The location is good.

I stayed in this hotel for the first time and as Taj always keeps upto the hospitality, so did the hotel. The rooms are lavish and big. The food was reasonably priced and the location is awesome. Heart of New Delhi and just stone throw distance from Khan Market. The breakfast has a good choice and sit outside in the patio im sure it would be nice In winters to visit this cosy place.

Great location and beatiful exteriors however we were given a different room than the one shown on booking. They changed it for us but we did not expect a 5 star hotel to have such old fashioned furniture. Breakfast was great

A vintage hotel, very old property right next to Khan Market. The room has almost all the amenities you expect in such hotels but the room layout, especially the ceiling fan, will remind you of the yesteryears. The balcony is okay for two persons. The breakast spread is good and sufficient but not as lavish as some of the other five star hotels. Some problem in the running water in washroom meant it wasn't easy to get lukewarm water. It was either too hot or too cold and no amount of turning of the tap helped. The toilet seat felt being placed too close to the large sink having the wash basin. It might be a tad uncomfortable for well/heavily built persons. Location is the USP of this hotel. Overall a very good stay.

I donโ€™t know why there are so many negative reviews but I really loved my recent stay at Ambassador, maybe I just got a really nice room, we booked the selection suite and it was Amazing. The property doesnt look very good from the outside but the interiors are good. The location is absolutely perfect. The morning breakfast was not great but its was good.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in The Ambassador. The hotel has a few positives but one massive negative! The location is great. The food is average. The rooms are large sized and good. The service is friendly. The gym is a hole with limited ancient equipment. But the biggest reason why I would not recommend this hotel to anyone is the NOISE. The rooms have extremely basic sound proofing and you can literally hear all of the traffic noise. You can kiss your sleep goodbye.

Iโ€™m not someone to write Hotel reviews but my experience was so bad that I have to. More so, when you have high expectations of someone. Having stayed at a lot of Taj properties, I have to say the Ambassador Delhi (SeleQtions) was unbelievably below the usually very high standards set by them. While the rooms are huge, it feels more like a 3 star property. In fact, a lot of boutique 3 stars are better. This property is very old and unfortunately no one has cared to change anything about it, be it the wardrobe, hard mattresses, dirty carpets, old basins, rusty taps and what not! Unfortunately, the service was not up to the mark either. So unlike IHCL! I would urge the authorities at IHCL to either revamp the whole property and bring it up to 5 star standards, or should I say โ€œTaj Standardsโ€ or give it a 3 star status so people arenโ€™t fooled and disappointed when they enter the rooms.

I stay there 2-3 times a month; mainly because of it's proximity to my work place and to Khan Market. Some positives and negatives; Positives; - Very good location. - Small but nice restaurant. - Friendly staff. - Economical and good value for money. Negatives; - Rooms are tiered. - Electrical issues in room,. - Housekeeping can be better. - Things (furniture, crockery, cutlery, linen etc) look old and worn out.

The Ambassador in New Delhi exudes timeless charm with its classic architecture and attentive service. The rooms are elegantly furnished, offering a comfortable retreat in the bustling city. The staff's hospitality is commendable, ensuring a pleasant stay. The hotel's central location provides easy access to key attractions and business districts. However, some areas may benefit from modern updates. The dining experience is delightful, featuring a variety of delectable cuisines. Overall, the Ambassador captures the essence of Delhi's rich history while providing a welcoming haven for travelers.

I had to leave early for a 6am train and had requested a takeaway breakfast (since it was included in my stay) but the front desk forgot to give it to me. They also ordered a taxi for me that charged 3x as much the going rate and the driver didnโ€™t have Google maps so was requesting me to navigate. Otherwise, beautiful historical hotel with great in-room dining!

Customer services has TOTALLY let you down. After asking the staff at the front desk to please email my invoice, after they all too happily confirmed payment has been made, I sit days later with nothing. I have emailed, phoned and now still sit with no response and no invoice. Old hotel, with its charm, coat hangers would be plus in the room, otherwise fine. But your customer service and professionalism does not even reach anywhere on the scale. So so disappointed. So much potential but.....

My visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing. The staff's lack of support and understanding was quite evident as they struggled to comprehend our order. To make matters worse, our order took over an hour to arrive, and even then, it was not complete. This experience left a lot to be desired and has certainly affected my perception of the restaurant. Think twice before visiting this hotel.

The best part of this Hotel is the location. It is located adjacent to the Khan Market. Ambassador is a business hotel with no swimming pool or other activities but it still makes for a quick family getaway. The rooms are spacious and the balcony view is awesome. They have two nice restaurants Larry's China and Yellow brick road. In addition they have the Insomnia bar. The pastry shops at the reception are also good. This is an old Hotel and parking is a bit of a disappointment. There is a mini park as well.

"Disappointed" is the word. Starting from a very unsmiling lady behind the reception (thanks to Mr.Jaspreet who took over later), the sloppy staff staring at us while we waited for our room, no mini bar or even a fridge (the fridge cabinet was empty where all we could see was a shabby wall behind), to nothing more than a tiny shower gel in the bathroom and a flush that was an absolute pain ! The hotel lacks polish, style and the ability to provide basics (even those things mentioned while booking like an iron! ) For something as small as a bottle opener I had to make 3 calls and waited for over 15 mins. The fact that we had to stay just one night is the reason why we chose Ambassador over our favorites like Oberoi or Taj but even for a night I would say go for something else in the vicinity. The only plus point is that it is walking distance to Khan Market so if that's on your list. Take a chance else give it a miss. They really need to up their game because nowadays even the smallest of boutique hotels or Bnbs take the basic needs into consideration. Definitely a one star for me.

This is not a 5 star hotel by any stretch of imagination. Over a 6 night stay in December, I had trouble unlocking my door at least 6 times and had to walk all the way down to the reception to get a spare key card. Being locked out of my room at night is not pleasant โ€” and their staff had the gall to suggest I dial 9 to get a spare key from the reception (with what phone!) The toiletries are laughable and overall amenities not anywhere comparable to other 5 star hotels nearby. The receptionist were not friendly and quite unhelpful. A manger had to step in to resolve my issue. The only saving grace is the breakfast, which is above average. Overall disappointing and not upto the mark.

Great hotel even if surprisingly for a 5 stars building itโ€™s actually quite old. It seems that the hotel was indeed a beautiful 5 stars in the 80โ€™s but donโ€™t have yet invest in the furniture to fit in today. A simple exemple is the light management : done by the conditionned air box and half of the buttons to stop the light donโ€™t work. Itโ€™s very sad because for the rest everything is very fine mostly the restaurant yellow Brockton road a little bit expensive for India but wonderful. As a resume a little bit expensive for the prestation coming with.

The hotel , no doubt, is beautiful with good service. I was approaching the hotel in my car, after dusk. The entry is not properly lit. The only name board is hidden in the greenery around this place. While driving, you very likely to miss the entry. Once you overshoot, the google maps will take you round the property to Khan market, which is very crowded. It can take you 15-20 minutes extra. Hotel should install some boards to improve visibility of the entry.

The luxury boutiqueย 5 star hotel in Delhiย is an INTACH Heritage Building built in 1947. Along with warm hospitality, guests can experience one of the most stalwart addresses in the country near Khan Market. The Ambassador Concierge offers Heritage Walks around the iconic neighbourhood and on the Delhi Metro Circuit. Feeding Pigeons on Lutyens Lawn in the hotel is another activity thatโ€™s as vintage Delhi as it gets. A spot of High Tea on the Terrace and Dinner under the Stars spins magical moments into your stay.

The rooms are wet and stinking. All my clothes still got this terrible smell even after multiple times washing. The pool is "under construction". The room cards are failing every two days. The reception doesn't answer any emails and is not abl to handle the hotel's own booking system. I guess there are kick-backs from the hotel owner to anyone recommending to stay. Otherwise this place would have been shut down a long time ago.

  • 3/5 Carol A. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel needs to reviews booking sites as they are offering amenities like a pool that don't exist. As many have called out here, it doesn't feel like a 5 or even 4 star hotel, the experience was just ok along with an average room. The staff is friendly except for the receptionists that are not really helpful and don't explain anything about was is offered at the hotel or close by. I think it is in a great location, very close to metro station and restaurants, so thats why it is extremely overpriced. I was looking forward to the stay but is was just an average experience

This used to be my all-time favourite since 2004 however things have really gone down. The accountability and warmth of staff is at pits. Orders take ages to get delivered and the without taking names I would say the girl forgot the order and kept telling us God know what is taking time. Much later Mr Uma said she had forgotten to order. That was terrible. I love the outside ambience and location but I am sad to save it needs major work from management side.

It's part of the Taj Group of Hotels. Has big lavish British era rooms - bigger than any five star hotel in Delhi. Has a famous Coffe Shop with a Bar and an excellent Chinese restaurant too. Couple of Banquet areas and Business centre. Hotel is right next to Khan market and only half a kilometer away from the famous Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi. Taj Group of Hotels took over the management of this Hotel over two decades ago and since then one can enjoy Taj Group's Service standards here at a subsidised cost in comparison to bigger five star hotels in the heart of capital city of Bharat. Its a well maintained British era property with that was owned by a loyal British servant Sir Sujan Singh whoes writer son Mr. Khushwant Singh sold it off to a legendary entrepreneur and most respected Lalaji. His able kids manage the hotel these days in liaison with the Taj Group Staff.

Wonderful place to hold a conference. Huge and spacious round hall seating place. ACs are very effective. Ample parking. Valet parking is also available. Clean washrooms. The food and high tea both were fulfilling and well prepared and served. Food was delicious. There was one coffee house inside the hotel which offered a blend of south Indian as well as continental food. It was fun to sit in its outer area as it was raining heavily so one could feel the pleasure of rainy weather while having food.

"Staying at this luxurious five-star hotel was an absolute dream come true. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm and friendly staff who made me feel like royalty. The hotel itself is stunning, with elegant decor and top-notch amenities that truly exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully appointed with every comfort imaginable. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I had the most restful sleep during my stay. The attention to detail in the room, from the luxurious linens to the high-end toiletries, truly made me feel pampered. The hotel's facilities were equally impressive, with a world-class spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, and a variety of dining options that catered to every palate. I particularly enjoyed the exquisite dining experience at the hotel's restaurant, where the food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The location of the hotel was perfect, with easy access to the city's attractions and stunning views of the surrounding area. I also appreciated the attentive concierge service, which helped me plan and book various activities during my stay. Overall, my experience at this five-star hotel was nothing short of exceptional. The level of service, attention to detail, and overall luxury surpassed any other hotel I have stayed at. I cannot wait to return and indulge in the unparalleled hospitality once again."

Overall, the Ambassador captures the essence of Delhi's rich history while providing a welcoming haven for travelers
