It was a nyc experience to visit the Indian parliament. Especially the ambience around it was great. It was often a textbook experience for so long, but now it is a real experience.

The Parliament house of India, such an beautiful architectural masterpiece where Federal Government office situated. Love the environment here. The food serve in the canteen of House was great in quality and in good price. Such a well maintained place, the seat of the Parliament is located in New Delhi. It is open from Monday to Friday and the time is 11.00am to 5.00pm. Parliament House is not open to normal visitors who wish to stroll in. You need to acquire a special visitors pass that can be acquired from parliament security establishment.

The Sansad Bhavan (English: Parliament House) is the seat of the Parliament of India, which contains the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha located in New Delhi.Originally called the House of Parliament, it was designed by the British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker in 1912-1913 as part of their wider mandate to construct a new administrative capital city for British India. Construction of the Parliament House began in 1921 and it was completed in 1927. The opening ceremony of the Parliament House, which then housed the Imperial Legislative Council, was performed on 18 January 1927 by Lord Irwin, Viceroy of India. The third session of Central Legislative Assembly was held in this house on 19 January 1927.[1] Two floors were added to the structure in 1956 due to a demand for more space. The Parliament Museum, opened in 2006, stands next to the Parliament House in the building of the Parliamentary Library. The perimeter of the building is circular, with 144 columns on the outside. At the centre of the building is the circular Central Chamber, and surrounding this Chamber are three semicircular halls that were constructed for the sessions of the Chamber of Princes (now used as the Library Hall), the State Council (now used for the Rajya Sabha), and the Central Legislative Assembly (now used for the Lok Sabha). The building is surrounded by large gardens and the perimeter is fenced off by sandstone railings (jali). On 13 December 2001, the building of the Parliament was attacked by five Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists. In addition to all the attackers, six military personnel and one civilian were killed. A new Parliament building may replace the existing complex. The new building is being considered on account of stability concerns about the current complex.[4] A committee to suggest several alternatives to the current building has been set up by ex-Speaker, Meira Kumar. The present building, an 85-year-old structure, suffers from inadequacy of space to house members and their staff and is thought to suffer from structural issues. The building also needs to be protected because of its heritage.[5] On August 5, 2019, the Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha Venkaiah Naidu proposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have a new building for the Parliament. In January 2020, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla announced that parliament will be holding its sessions in a new building in 2022 when country would celebrating its 75th independence day. Renovation of the central vista from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate is also underway.[6] The proposed Lok Sabha chamber is expected to have increased seating capacity to accommodate more members as number of MPs may increase with India's population and consequent future delimitation. The Lok Sabha may need to have 848 members by 2026. The new complex will be able to house 900 Lok Sabha MPs and 1350 members in total. According to Bimal Patel, the architect in charge of the redesign of Central Vista, the new complex is likely to have a triangular shape. It will be built next to the existing complex and will be much bigger than former one. The North and South Blocks of the Secretariat Building, which currently houses ministries will be converted into museums. The relocation of the Prime Minister's Office and other ministries and a redesign of Rajpath will take place.

In modern politics and history, a parliament is a legislative body of government. Generally, a modern parliament has three functions: representing the electorate, making laws, and overseeing the government via hearings and inquiries. The term is similar to the idea of a senate, synod or congress, and is commonly used in countries that are current or former monarchies, a form of government with a monarch as the head. Some contexts restrict the use of the word parliament to parliamentary systems, although it is also used to describe the legislature in some presidential systems

The Parliament of India (IAST: Bhāratīya Sansad) is the supreme legislative body of the Republic of India. It is a bicameral legislature composed of the president of India and two houses: the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and the Lok Sabha (House of the People). The members of parliament of the Lok Sabha are directly elected by the Indian public voting in single-member districts and the members of parliament of the Rajya Sabha are elected by the members of all state legislative assemblies by proportional representation. The Parliament has a sanctioned strength of 543 in the Lok Sabha and 245 in the Rajya Sabha including 12 nominees from the expertise of different fields of literature, art, science, and social service.[7] The Parliament meets at Sansad Bhavan in New Delhi. The Parliament of India represents the largest democratic electorate in the world (the second is the European Parliament), with an electorate of 912 million eligible voters in 2019. On May 28, 2023, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, unveiled and inaugurated the New Parliament House, located adjacent to the previous one. symbolically and physically places Indian citizens at the heart of democracy. The building features secure and efficient office spaces equipped with the latest communications technology. Close to this there are many tourist attractions spots and many varieties of place to watch. It has a war memorial,India gate,Rashtrapati bhavan, nearby, Please do visit there. Also there are many transportations like Auto,Cabs, metro i would suggest Metro and Auto for sure. They are the best in Delhi for touristers to visit at very economical and Cheap Rates. They charge very correctly. If you know hindi you can just travel blindly by trusting anyone on the go. Also there are many Tamil peoples i met. Who become friends with me.

Inaugurated in 1927 and designed for 100 years but within 60 years It was felt it's not suitable neither it's much spacious nor earthquake bearable. This clearly reveals architects were not so intelligent and due to laziness of Governments this building is now over utilised. Suppose it would be quite spacious than there was no need to built a separate building for library. Material used in this of good quality so it's still in good condition but it's round shape is really tricky from security point of view where are many exit and entry points. Now our PM Shri Modi ji has taken a good initiative to built a well planned, well secured and well spacious Parliament building where each MP will have his own office room and this would be ample spacious for increasing number of MPs.

This is an iconic building from where legislations or laws are passed for the country. It contains both houses of parliament namely the Lok Sabha or the lower house and the Rajya Sabha or the upper house. It was here during British rule, freedom fighter Sardar Bhagat Singh threw a bomb to awaken the British rule. The parliament is considered to be a temple of democracy.

The Parliament House of India has a central hall topped with a domed structure and three semi circular chambers. These chambers were initially assigned to house the council of state, legislative assembly and the chamber of princes. However, the Parliament House now accommodates the ‘ Lok Sabha' or the Lower House of the Parliament and the ‘ Rajya Sabha' or the Upper House of the Parliament and a library. The three circular chambers are guarded by a string of 144 columns that adds to the extravaganza of the building's beauty. The Parliament House is flanked by beautiful gardens and fountains which enhances the glory of the building.

India has a Magnificent Parliament! The power of the Indian democratic system manifests in our Parliament, which weathered the Indian freedom struggle from colonial rule and witnessed many historical milestones. The existing building served as independent India’s first Parliament and witnessed the adoption of the Constitution of India. Thus, conserving and rejuvenating the rich heritage of the Parliament building is a matter of national importance. An icon of India’s democratic spirit, the Parliament building sits at the heart of the Central Vista. India’s present Parliament House is a colonial-era building designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, which took six years to construct (1921-1927). Originally called the Council House, the building housed the Imperial Legislative Council. The Parliament building witnessed the addition of two floors in 1956 to address the demand for more space. In 2006, the Parliament Museum was added to showcase the 2,500 years of rich democratic heritage of India. The building had to be modified to a large extent to suit the purpose of a modern Parliament.

The Parliament of India in Delhi holds immense historical and political significance. Here's a casual review: The architecture of the Parliament House is striking, with its circular design and grand pillars. It's a visually impressive landmark. The Parliament sessions are where important decisions and debates shaping the nation's future take place. It's fascinating to see the democratic process in action. The complex itself is well-maintained, and security is tight, which is expected given its importance. The surrounding area is typically bustling with activity, with government offices and ministries nearby. It's a hub of political activity. Visitors might find the central location convenient for exploring other attractions in Delhi, thanks to its proximity to India Gate and other landmarks. In summary, the Parliament of India in Delhi is not just a government building; it's a symbol of democracy and the place where the nation's laws and policies are crafted. It's worth a visit for its historical and political significance.

After the end of British rule in India, it was taken over by the Constituent Assembly of India which was succeeded by the Parliament of India. Once the Constitution of India came into force in 1950. [1] In 2010, a proposal was made to rebuild Central Vista and to rebuild or relocate a number of administrative buildings, which began a program expected to be completed in 2024. [2] As India aims to expand the membership of its Parliament, new Parliament buildings are being constructed. Designed with a seating capacity of 1,350 members. The new building is expected to be functional in June 2022 while there are plans to convert the old into a museum. [3] Originally called the Parliament House, it was designed by British architects Sir Edwin Lutyens and Sir Herbert Baker in 1912–1913 as part of their broader mandate to create a new administrative capital for British India. The construction of the Parliament House began in 1921 and was completed in 1927. The opening ceremony of the Parliament House, which was then placed in the Imperial Legislative Council, was performed on 18 January 1927 by Lord Irwin, Viceroy of India. The third session of the Central Legislative Assembly was held in this House on 19 January 1927. [4] Two floors were added to the structure in 1956 due to the demand for more space. [5] The Parliament Museum, opened in 2006, stands next to the Parliament House in the construction of the Parliament Library. The construction of new parliament is expected to complete by 2022 when India will complete 75 years of independence Also the existing Parliament building will be conserved as it is an archaeological asset of the country. It will be suitably retro-fitted to provide more functional spaces for parliamentary events, to ensure its usage along with the new building.
