This is the real Govt. of India Tourism Office. They don't sell anything. You go in there and these lovely people will help you with your trip planning and suggest things to do. You can go in and ask them anything about travel in India and Delhi. I've been there multiple times and the staff are very sweet. Please be aware that there are many fake tourism offices in this area trying to scam tourists. Don't trust anyone on the street when they say they'll take you to the Govt. tourism office, they'll take you to a fake office and make commission off you and you'll be overcharged and put in high pressure situations in these scam travel agencies.

An elaborate scam involving multiple parties including friendly strangers in the street and tuktuk drivers who all work on commission to drive business through this fake tourist office. We spend 1,5 hour sightseeing in Delhi with our driver and "friend", before we were driven to the Tourist Information. After leaving the place knowing it was a scam, they wanted us to go to a different tourist information that they could guarantee wasn't a scam.

An elaborate scam involving multiple parties including friendly strangers in the street and tuktuk drivers who all work on commission to drive business through this fake tourist office. It is In fact an overpriced travel agency which gives a “free map” while telling you your original plans are dangerous/ incorrect/ risky/ expensive/ wrong, while they can organise quick, easy and reliable trains, planes and hotels. Remember, this is all a lie. The people in the build up may masquerade as friendly students/ passers by when in fact they are getting payment based on how much the fake tourism office can rip you off.

Scam! Elaborate one though :) We were helped on the street by a guy who “worked in our hotel” ( must have followed us from the hotel), then he suggested us to go to “the official government tourist office” to arrange the rest of our trip ( Agra tour), as they are the only genuine organisation run by government 🤦🏼‍♀️ He put us in a tuk tuk, suspiciously clean one, and the driver also kept convincing us we need a one day Agra tour. We finally reached the office which did say Tourist Office run by the gov of India. ( fake). They outlined a whole tour and almost when we were about to pay (£500), I looked at the Google reviews of this place :) and we walked away. So a happy ending, but could have been quite a bad experience.

We met an Indian guy who we hung out with for part of the day and then he recommended we go here and get some free information. He wanted to speak a little hindi to the guy first to explain for us which we thought was fine... Turns out the office only really exists to scare foreigners into canceling their plans and booking expensive tours through them! We heard also they give commissions to Indians who bring tourists there. The guide working there said they were officially licensed by the govt and that our tickets via 12goasia were not properly valid as we are not Indian and we would be fined - this is a LIE. Avoid at all costs.

This is a tourist trap and unfortunately I fell for it. Avoid at all costs. I wish I had read the other reviews here before being loured into their office by people pretending to be helpful but work on commission. They pretend to be representing the government of India. They are not. They are just a scam travel agency. The hotel I was given was nothing like the pics and overpriced. The train tickets were supposed to be flexible and penalty free. They were non refundable non exchangeable .

This is only one government run office in Delhi!Refer to the pictures and note the address is 88, Janpath, Janpath road, Opp. Janpath Market. REMEMBER THIS PLACE DOES NOT SELL ANYTHING! We were approached numerous times by scammers telling us that this place was closed and that there are other offices around. One even offered a 20 rupee ride to the office. Don't fall for it! There is the one true giveaway that you may have been taken to a 'fake' office, when they start 'selling' you things. Although there is a lot of improvements needed for the service side of things, we definitely felt safe coming here. Remember this place only provides information, so remember to ask the right questions and make discreet choices. Also, do your own research before coming to India as there are many scams on foreigners. Watch YouTuber's like Karl Rock and he will save you from so much heartache. Have a safe journey everyone :)

Beware: this office is a tourist scam. I wanted to book a train ticket and they refused. Instead they wanted me to buy a three week train pass for about 400$. Everybody who knows train prices in India knows that this is astronomical.

My friend and I touched down in New Delhi and wanted to walk to our hotel which is near the train station. We were told that we cannot access to the area due to on going riot and political issues. We were told to get a free protection pass from the authority in order to enter the area where our hotel is. We were quite worried as the rail way station itself looks quite chaotic. So But we end up in a small office and the guy was trying to sell us overpriced tour package. So we left the place. After we left the place, a guy approached us and told us that he will bring us to the real tourism office. We agreed and used Google map to track the location. But end up he brought us to fake tourism office which is near to this real India Tourism office. The officer told us New Delhi is safe and no riot or whatever. The officer helped us to contact our hotel and send people down to pick up. This is the only place where you can talk to people can be trusted. They only provide information and will not sell you anything.

Scam, people on the streets guide you there saying things that scare tourists. (e.g. maleria plague broke out in the neighbourhood we stayed at). They could provide us a nice hotel, and a complete booked trip including train tickets, accomodation, food, etc. If we cancelled everything and booked overpriced with them. Definitely a scam!

Any ‘scam’ reviews on here are from people who mistakenly clicked to review this one, or from scammers themselves downvoting here. This IS the genuine government tourist office.

The legitimate tourist office, they will not sale anything, they will just give you good advised on what you can do on your stay in India, and if requested, recommend a decent travel agency where you can get a driver, plan your whole trip, or what ever you think your experience in India should be. Weird thing about the other reviews is that those who have reviewed this agency with one star are Indian people, I hope I 've made my point.

SCAM. They say they are governmental organisation, which is a total fraud, even the driver hired by this office is a fraudster taking you to places where he is comissionned. Only if the places were worthy, they of course were not! Waste of time, and continuous scams.. I got charged 90 USD for this fraudster driver for 4h trip, the entrance fees and tour guide service were excluded even though they were supposed to be included. The stupid fraudster driver was just driving me around..trying to rip me off as much as he could. Worst experience I’ve ever had. To avoid absolutely

What great service!! The staff could not possibly have done anything more to help us. This is the government tourist office. They are explicit about the fact they do not make any bookings or take any money. But they will give you all the information you need to go do it for your self. Anyone who put the bad reviews about a rip-off were not at this place. So if you find yourself being asked for payment leave because you are not in the right place.

This is the real official Tourism Office, run by government. It took me quite some time to get there. Many people gave me wrong directions or Tuk-Tuks brought me to the wrong offices (to private ones). Hardly no one will give you a right direction. They won't push you in the government Tourism office and as far as I know they don't sell you anything. But you'll get good information. Good luck to you

They also created a great travel rout through Rajasthan, wich was the first trip during my 6 month in incredible India. There was a guy named Karan. If you got scammed by a different travel agency claiming to be governmental, you must come here. This office helped us to get a full refund from a scamming travel agency. They saved us over 90000 rupees. Thank you thank you thank you.

I think people who have left reviews of this place being a scam are mistaken as to where they were actually taken. We couldn't get a tuk tuk driver to take us here (but they insisted they had taken us to the 'real office' of course) at best they dropped us off at a fake Government office nearby so we had to walk. This office however is a REAL OFFICE and definitely worth the effort in getting to. They were able to answer many questions we had about booking train tickets as we kept getting lied to by scammers. They didnt book anything for us and instead showed us how to set up our own online account to book tickets directly through IRCTC. They printed off information and gave us phone numbers for their office as well as local and federal police so we felt more secure leaving there (we had lots of issues with scammers). The office is large with many counters. If you are taken somewhere small you are at the wrong office.

(Translated by Google) WARNING! We went to India for 1 month in August. We went to India Toursim Delhi which is touted as the one and only official tourist office in the city by the backpacker and we would not qualify this office as official. We were lied to indicating that the trains were full for the next 2 weeks, we were offered a 2 week tour with driver and the last week's trips by sleeper train. We were told that we could go anywhere with the driver, make the route as we go, "you are the boss", which means that we were really disappointed when the driver replied that the detours were 50 kms maximum around the planned stopover towns ... For the last week, we had asked for category 2A for the train, we were finally surprised to find ourselves in 3A. The man who was our ASIF contact kept telling us that we had misunderstood, that we had to take advantage, that train seats were complicated to book, and yet we met other travelers who had booked their tickets. places 2 days before ... We also paid an incredible price, the pseudo adviser manipulated and bamboozled us in less than an hour taking advantage of the fact that we are in an unknown country and inviting us to trust him! In short, we wanted to alert because we relied on this office on the pretext that it was official and we have a more than bitter taste of this experience, it spoiled part of the trip, if we could avoid that it happens to others! (Original) ATTENTION!

Hope less staff at ITDC Janpath. Today on 07Oct, 2019, I visited the office just to enquire about procedure for getting parmit to enter Lakshdweep island. The official sitting there gave me computer prints of write up on Lakshdweep, which pertains to year 2010-2011, means 8 year old data. They don't have replies to our querries nor they make efforts to arrange information for visiting tourist. Better search on internet your self.

(Translated by Google) Really disappointing experience, is not an official office at all. We were bungled by two tuktuk at the exit of the airport in this agency while we wanted to go to our hotel. They first made us believe that the hotel was full by calling one of their friend and then finally telling us that the hotel was concerned that we had booked it on booking. We insisted on going to our hotel and the staging where he shows us a bad street and one of them stops the tuktuk and tells us it's too dangerous. Back to the agency, they wanted to offer us a tour and change hotels. Can not access the wifi or phone. We ended up finding an uber who took us to our hotel which is great! I have visited North India twice in the past 9 months.I have found India has a lot to offer but the attitude of the some shopkeepers, street sellers ,rickshaw operators and taxi drivers puts tourist off and discourages us from recommending india as holiday destination to our friends and relatives. The instant hiking of prices by the above vendors and the pressure put by them on the tourists,is a discouraging factor in recommending India as a tourism destination.Richshaw and auto drivers fighting amongst them to take on the tourist is a real sham.Forcing people to sit in their rickshaws or autos is real shameful. We, tourists from other parts of the world, though we may be of Indian origin, find it very disturbing to be harassed and cheated.Prime Minister Modi is doing a great job trying to improve India. The people of India need to become honest and stop cheating tourists if they want to make more money from tourists.A happy tourist will go out of his way to give extra money anyway, so instead of using dirty tactics, honesty and fair play will ultimately lead to more benefits for the tour operators and guides..I hope the tourism board of india puts in a concerted effort in trying to standardise the rickshaw ,auto and concerned transport operators and market/shop sellers so that tourist find it free to move and shop around.

(Translated by Google) It is a good place to take City Tours, they will not fool you like in the other office that makes you scam. Notice that it is the place of the photo. (Original) Es buen lugar para tomar Tours por la ciudad, no te van a engañar como en la otra oficina que te hacen scam. Fíjense que sea el lugar de la foto.

(Translated by Google) (The reason for many negative reviews is that other unscrupulous traders have temporarily deceived location information.) The photo location is correct. It is local price even from price. I think that it looks a little damaged because the appearance is a frosted glass that doesn't look like a travel agency. In other reviews, it was criticized as “official work” and “not motivated”, but when I listened to it, I listened to hope carefully and told me the recommended tour.

I think this is the real government tourism center. There is a lot of confusion over which one is real, but this one is real. Karl Rock has linked this center as real from his video description.

This real Government of India tourism office in Delhi. Negative reviews are given by scammers to divert tourist to fake ones.

They tell you lies about stuff going on in the city to convince you to buy overpriced travel packages. Don‘t go there if you want to save money!!! Also this Tourist information is NOT from the government, just SCAMMERS! Viele Grüße

😠 Terrible Management We travelled to Jaisalmer and Longewala from December 23 through December 27, 2022. Mr. Sumit, the man who organised our trip, was a violent and nasty person. Because a few of my members arrived a little later than the scheduled time, he verbally and physically abused me in front...
