Could have been organized better we have been asked to leave from there by the Cops rather very rudely as this place is closed by 11 pm. But no one stopped us at outside gate 5 minutes back. They should block the outside barricade 15 minutes before so that no one enters and had to leave or rather chase by the cops.

Must visit to pay homage to great warriors. Located behind India Gate. To visit walk through behind India Gate. Well maintained memorial park. After reading the narratives written on the stone , the heroic deeds can be visualised of the great Army men to fought to save the nation.

Not popularized as National War Memorial but this should be as respected and famous as NWM because it houses the bursts of Param Veer Chakra Awardee and the Amar Jyoti monument which was placed between India Gate is now in it's center. This must be visited if you visit India Gate.

The complex comprises busts of war heroes, and a precinct of four chakras, with each one signifying different values of the armed forces. The Amar Chakra (Circle of Immortality) is the innermost circle. It has a 15.5m tall granite obelisk with an eternal flame to pay homage to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Then comes the Veerta Chakra (Circle of Bravery), a gallery depicting scenes from the battles Indian forces have fought. Nearby is the Tyag Chakra (Circle of Sacrifice) made of granite bricks with names of 25,942 heroes, their rank and regiment, etched in gold. Besides soldiers who were killed in wars of 1947, 1962, 1965, 1971 and 1999, the names of heroes who died while on Indian Peace Keeping Force Operations in Sri Lanka are also inscribed at the Tyag Chakra. This structure is fringed by 600 trees that act as a wall representing the soldiers who protect the country, and hence called the Rakshak Chakra (Circle of Protection).

The Param Vir Memorial has been rebuilt recently. So, i have visited there. If we go in flashback, we got to know that the complex is a commemoration of the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers since Independence with the names of 25,942 martyrs etched in stone forever. Speaking about entry to the National War Memorial complex is free for all, but the main area and Param Yodha Sthal will have timing restrictions and will also play host to retreat ceremonies every evening. I believe you can stay till 11pm, lastly. The views to see are like obelisk, veerta, rakshak and tyag chakra, etc I haven't captured all the things but this place is so photogenic currently. They made several ponds and lots of lights and plantations. Lastly I would say you should visit and revise the old days here with your family. #indiagate #delhi #cp #india gate #paramvir

Very nice place. As a normal person we don't even realise that we are busy in our work of earning few bucks and we are so engaged in that work that we are not even aware of the facts that there are so many brave hearts who are sacrificing there every moment of life to keep us safe. I am amazed to see that how ignorant we are, that so many police officers, army personnels and paramilitary forces persons sacrificed there life for keeping us safe and we don't even know about there sacrifices. This memorial is the least what we can do for those martyrs and each of us should make ourselves and other citizens of India about the contribution of these martyrs for us. This memorial will definitely bring an awareness among common citizens of India about the sacrifices of our brave hearts and our future generations will respect them and will feel inspired by them.

Anyone who wants to know that how many brave hearts has sacrificed there life for keeping our country safe should visit this memorial atleast once in there life. As an Indian it's our responsibility to be aware about our forces and educate others about this and this small contribution of us can do wonders for our country because once people's see and understand the sacrifices of our forces the will know how to take responsibilities and act accordingly. If the sense of responsibility seeps in all of us that will transform our nation into a great nation.

Loved it! During the 1962 Sino-Indian War, 13th Battalion of Kumaon Regiment was stationed in the Chushul sector. C Company, under the command of Singh, was holding a position at Rezang La. In the morning hours of 18 November 1962, the Chinese attacked. After several unsuccessful attacks from the front, the Chinese attacked from the rear. The Indians fought until their last rounds, before eventually being overpowered by the Chinese. During the battle, Singh continuously moved from post to post reorganizing the defences and boosting the morale of his men. As he moved between the posts without any cover, he was seriously wounded, and later succumbed to his injuries. For his actions on 18 November 1962, Singh was awarded the Param Vir Chakra.
