Such a beautiful place. Must go in the evenings as the sun sets behind the tomb and the sky gains beautiful colours, making the silhouette so picturesque. I've only been there once and I'm mesmerized. It's not crowded at all on hot weekdays and summers.

The place has a large entry gate with ample spaced parked and big dome in the center. The central dome is main attraction of the place. The tomb is symmetrical in the structure. The tomb is under maintenance and the fountains on the side are not working. Best place to view sunset specially during summers. There is free ample parking near the entry gate and entry ticket per Indian adult is 20 rupee. This is one time visit place in Delhi.

Very calm and peaceful place to visit. In summers it gets too hot so it's better to visit on cloudy or rainy days. Also, on weekends the place gets too many visitors and you won't be able to experience the peace that you look for or won't get to click instagrammable pictures when it's crowded. So better to go on weekdays to enjoy the place. The architecture is so beautiful. This place looks awesome during sunset. Also, have seen people disrespect the tomb by sitting on the tomb and clicking pictures there. There are ample of benches to sit , or lots of greenery. Don't sit on the tomb at least.

It's very peaceful place and nature lover place. Beautiful background for taking snap and videos. Safdarjung tomb is very beautiful. There are so many birds here one of them is peacock which will not let you feel alone. When the sound of a peacock speaking comes from behind, it is very joyful. Parking is available here. Visit here for beautiful nature and peace. Tickets only INR Rs 20 IG@alilove07

One of the few well maintained tombs in Delhi. Also tourist visit is minimal during mid day. The tomb has a well maintained garden spanning around the tomb. The tomb is completely symmetrical in structure. The ticket only costs 20₹.Besides it is close to the National Museum..Do visit it to get a glimpse of the famed Mughal architecture. The garden has few Amla (Indian Gooseberry) trees.Enjoy them while you can.

Such a beautiful place, well maintained also. Entry closes at 6:30 however you can sit outside with the view of the lit up tomb. It's usually less crowded than other historical monuments so if you want some relatively peace and quite you should surely visit it. It's also very close to the Jor Bagh metro station in yellow line. Everyone has a favourite sunset spot, A rooftop, A Balcony, A Hill or just a resting place to a certain noble of an erstwhile Mughal Ruler. Amongst all the fabled Sunset spots of the city of Delhi. The one which engulfs the Tomb of Safdurjung is probably the least explored or cherished inspite of it being one of the most beautiful sights in my beloved city. A silence flows through the gardens and the halls of the Sandstone tomb which serenades the ‘Nawab of Oudh’. A whole facade to see the sun vanish into the horizon and bringing in the night. Birds whose names you might not even know and people removing their footwear just to enter the tomb. You witness Lovers basking in the silent warmth of the setting sun or just Someone coming to terms with himself! There’s something for everyone when they witness the ‘Most Underrated Sunset of Delhi’.. The lights on the tomb switch on at 07:00 P.M. Go for the Sunset and stay till the lights come on! Easily Accessible through your choice of Public Transport with Jor Bagh Metro Station, Lodi Road Bus Stand and other access points are within walking distances.. Ticket Price: ₹25 for Indian Adults

Online ticket cost 20 and if you take offline then you have to pay 25, and you can comfortably walk in through the turnstiles without having to join the long queue for on-site ticket. Amazing architecture and very well maintained. Definitely should be on must visit list when in Delhi. Great photo ops at multiple places especially from the corner outside the main monument.

It is situated near Jorbagh metro station. Just 4-5 minute walking distance from metro station. Tickets are compulsory for adults. One can make photography here. There were some repairing works at my last visiting period. Lawns are well maintained , one can spend free time there. This place is family friendly.

Loved this monument, must visit the place if you are around safdarjung. Safdarjung's tomb is a sandstone and marble mausoleum in Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style for Nawab Safdarjung. The monument has an ambience of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red, brown and white coloured structures. The tomb, within a garden, is in a late version of the style of earlier Mughal imperial tombs, most famously the Taj Mahal, with inside "eight paradises" (hasht bihisht) or eight rooms around the main chamber under the dome, and a garden divided into four parts outside. This was the first time someone outside the immediate imperial Mughal family built themselves such a tomb and garden complex, reflecting the greatly diminished powers of the emperors by this date

Very quite and serene as compared to.other hyped up monuments in Delhi. Although there's not much to do here, but as it's located in a posh and diplomatic location,so quite peaceful. Do try to visit preferably in evening as the lights add to the beauty of the tomb and then it becomes more pretty.

Photogenic Service Lane in front of the tomb! Although there were Delhi police’s barricades but they allowed us to take pictures( we went there at 1:30am and stayed for 30mins). You might also get to see a lot of nice cars(Lamborghini, Porsche, etc.)

It is a very peaceful place to visit as well as feel and understand a historical aspect. Earlier offline tickets were also available here but now only online ticket service is available. The ticket price here is Rs. 25. If you really want to feel the beauty of this place then morning or evening time is very suitable. It is one of the wonderful art pieces produced during the Mughal period. It is under the supervision and maintenance of the Archaeological Survey of India. Since there is not much crowd here, this place is also suitable for spending time with yourself. Not only this, this place is also ideal for photography. There is a special kind of illumination on Independence Day and Republic Day, which is based on the theme of the Indian tricolor flag, which lasts for about a week. The nearest metro station to reach here is Jor Bagh. By the way, you can also reach here by bus. You can enrich and enhance your knowledge of Mughal history and also know how the history of Delhi is related to other parts of India. Please note that there is no additional cost for videography or photography. There is a parking arrangement outside the monument but there is not much big parking here.

Safdarjung's Tomb is a historical monument located in Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in memory of Safdarjung, the Prime Minister of the Mughal Empire during the reign of Ahmad Shah Bahadur. The tomb is known for its impressive Mughal architecture and is surrounded by a garden. It serves as a fine example of the late Mughal architectural style. I hope like this place...❤️❤️

This place is maintained very efficiently. Best part of visiting this monument is having online ticket. You can just have to scan a code provided outside this monument and pay for it. Its completely contact less which is very much needed in Covid times. Moreover you don't require to carry hard cash to buy ticket. One thing which i don't like about this place is related to fountains present in complex. None of them have water and they are not working. It would be nice if these fountains would be working

Safdarjung’s Tomb is a beautiful and historically significant monument that is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history or architecture. Its stunning aesthetics, fascinating history, and connection to the Mughal Empire make it a true masterpiece of Mughal architecture, and its popularity as a tourist destination is a testament to its enduring appeal. Ticket can be digitally available from the code or their site. Very beautiful and great monument. Just one issue, the archaeological survey of India should maintain it properly and there should be washrooms as well. Outside the place there is nothing nearby to eat. But overall a good place to visit in a lovely weather.

Safdarjung, a Persian native and a descendant of Qara Yusuf from the Kara Koyunlu, was born as Muhammad Muqim in-Khurasan in 1708 AD. In 1722 AD, he relocated to India. He became the Subadar Nawab of Oudh that is the ruler of the state of Oudh or Awadh province on March 19, 1739, succeeding his maternal uncle turned father-in-law Burhan ul Mulk Saadat Ali Khan I, seemingly bribing Nadir Shah with twenty million rupees. He served the position throughout his life. Emperor Nasir-ud-Din Muhammad Shah bestowed upon him the title of “Safdarjung”. Following the demise of the Emperor, his son Ahmad Shah Bahadur ascended the throne as the new Mughal Emperor in 1748. The ever powerful and resourceful statesman Safdarjung, who proved his mettle as an able administrator relocated to Delhi where he was made the Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan or Prime Minister of Hindustan. From 1750 to 1754 he remained the Subehdar of Assam. He was also made the governor of Ajmer. However as a result of court politics he was dismissed in 1753 and ousted from Delhi. In December 1753 he returned to Oudh. On October 5, 1754, he passed away in Sultanpur near Faizabad. The Mughal Emperor granted the plea of his son Nawab Shujaud Daula to allow the latter to construct a mausoleum of his father in Delhi. Construction of the tomb was completed in 1754

Nice & quiet place to enjoy a well maintained garden & monument. There was some renovation work going on in a few parts of the tomb which is hardly noticeable in the photographs. The boundary wall of the monument was a big disappointment. It had several rooms which were locked and have broken furniture in them. Also the various "Mahal" on the sides of the main tomb were like small bungalows & were not open for visitors atleast when I went there. But it's a very photogenic place and nice to spend an hour or so. Though underrated, it is definitely a monument you must visit when you come to Delhi.

Safdarjung's Tomb is a sandstone and marble mausoleum in Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style for Nawab Safdarjung. The monument has an ambience of spaciousness and an imposing presence with its domed and arched red brown and white coloured structures. Safdarjung, Nawab of Oudh, was made prime minister of the Mughal Empire (Wazir ul-Mamlak-i-Hindustan) when Ahmed Shah Bahadur ascended the throne in 1748. The tomb is located near the Safdarjung Airport at the T junction of Lodhi Road and Aurobindo Marg (earlier name Mehrauli Road) in New Delhi. The structure was constructed in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style Safdarjung. Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan, who was popularly known as Safadarjung, who ruled over Awadh was an independent ruler of Awadh as viceroy of Muhammad Shah. He was very rich and most powerful. With the death of Emperor Muhammad Shah of Mughal Empire, he moved to Delhi. When Mohammed Shah Ahmed Shah ascended the throne of the Mughal Empire in Delhi in 1748, As Vazir he usurped all powers under his control as the king was only a puppet, a figurehead, who was into enjoying life with wine, opium and women. But his control over the emperor’s family was so cruel that the emperor called the Marathas to rid of their Vazir. The Marathas drove Safdarjung out of Delhi in 1753. He died soon thereafter in 1754. After his death his son Nawab Shujaud Daula pleaded with the Mughal Emperor to permit him to erect a tomb for his father in Delhi. He then built the tomb, which was designed by an Abyssininan architect. It was built by Bilal Muhammad Khan, at the cost of three lacs of rupees. To the south of this tomb is the historic site of the battle that was fought in 1386 between Timur of Mangol and Mohammed Tughlaq when the latter was defeated. The Safdarjung tomb, the last monumental tomb garden of the Mughals, was planned and built like an enclosed garden tomb in line with the style of the Humayun tomb. It was completed in 1754.The slabs from the tomb of Abdul Rahim Khankhana were used in the construction of the tomb. The tomb has four key features which are: The Char Bagh plan with the mausoleum at the center, a ninefold floor plan, a five-part façade and a large podium with a hidden stairway. The main entry gate to the tomb is two-storied and its façade has very elaborate ornamentation over plastered surfaces and is in ornate purple colour. There is an inscription in Arabic on the surface and its translation reads "When the hero of plain bravery departs from the transitory, may he become a resident of god’s paradise". The rear side of the façade, which is seen after entering through the gate, has many rooms and the library. To the right of the gate is the mosque which is a three-domed structure marked with stripes. Entering through the main gate gives a perfect view of the mausoleum. Its walls are built high and the central dome, which is the main mausoleum of Safdarjung, is built over a terrace. Red and buff stones are the materials used for building the main mausoleum which measures 28 metres (92 ft) square. The central chamber, square in shape, has eight partitions with a cenotaph in the middle. Here there are partitions in rectangular shape and the corner partitions are in octagonal shape. The interior of the tomb is covered with rococo plaster with decorations. There are four towers around the main tomb at the corners which are polygonal in shape and are provided with kiosks. They have marble panels which are faded, and decorated arches. There is an underground chamber in the mausoleum which houses the graves of Safadrjung and his wife. The ceiling of the mosque has been plastered, painted and ornamented.(Wikipedia)

It's a really pretty historical landmark. It has a scan and pay entry system so it's convenient. There are gardens where you can spend time with your family. It doesn't have a parking as such, so you would have to park your vehicle on the service lanes. It stays open only till the sunset.

Safdarjung, Nawab of Oudh, was made prime minister of the Mughal Empire (Wazir ul-Mamlak-i-Hindustan) when Ahmed Shah Bahadur ascended the throne in 1748

One of many gems in Delhi, Safdarjung Tomb built in mid 18th century marked the last prominent mughal architecture. The design similar to many other tombs including the char bagh or square channeled gardens and the main tomb build on a platform.

Safdarjung's Tomb is the last enclosed garden tomb in Delhi in the tradition of Humayun's Tomb, though it if far less grand in scale. It was built in 1753- 54 as mausoleum of Safdarjung, the viceroy of Awadh under the Mughal Emperor, Mohammed Shah. There's a 20 rupees entry ticket which has to be purchased on phone via a QR code. If you're going in a group, best to book all tickets on one device. Guards might ask for your ID card as well. If you're going here for a picnic the guards may put up a mild objection but are otherwise chill.

Safdarjung’s Tomb is a beautiful mausoleum located in the heart of Delhi, India. It was built in 1754 by the son of Safdarjung, Nawab Shujaud Daula, in memory of his father, who was the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor, Muhammad Shah. The tomb is one of the last great examples of Mughal-style architecture in India and is a popular tourist destination for history and architecture enthusiasts. The architectural style of Safdarjung’s Tomb is a fusion of Mughal and Persian styles, which was a common architectural trend during that time. The tomb is made of red sandstone and is surrounded by a garden, which is divided into four parts by water channels. The garden is well-manicured and adds to the beauty of the tomb. The main entrance to the tomb is a grand gate, which is also made of red sandstone. The tomb itself is a double-storeyed structure, with a central chamber surrounded by eight smaller rooms. The central chamber has an octagonal shape and is topped by a dome, which is decorated with intricate designs and patterns. The smaller rooms are located on the four corners of the central chamber and are connected to it by a series of corridors. The tomb is decorated with beautiful carvings and motifs, which are typical of Mughal architecture. The intricate designs on the walls and ceilings of the tomb are breathtaking, and the use of red sandstone adds to its beauty. The tomb is surrounded by a beautiful garden, which is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the monument. The history surrounding Safdarjung’s Tomb is also fascinating. Safdarjung was the Prime Minister of the Mughal Emperor, Muhammad Shah, and was known for his administrative skills and diplomatic abilities. He died in 1754, and his son, Nawab Shujaud Daula, built the tomb in his memory. There are several tourist packages available for those who wish to visit Safdarjung’s Tomb. These packages include transportation, accommodation, and guided tours of the tomb and its surroundings. Many of these packages also include visits to other famous landmarks in Delhi, such as the Red Fort and the Qutub Minar. In conclusion, Safdarjung’s Tomb is a beautiful and historically significant monument that is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history or architecture. Its stunning aesthetics, fascinating history, and connection to the Mughal Empire make it a true masterpiece of Mughal architecture, and its popularity as a tourist destination is a testament to its enduring appeal.

I had the pleasure of exploring the Humayun Tomb in Delhi and it was a remarkable journey back in time! The impressive architecture and rich history of the monument are awe-inspiring. The intricate artwork on the walls and ceilings of the tomb is a true testament to the exceptional skills of the craftsmen who constructed it. The verdant gardens surrounding the tomb are equally enchanting and offer a tranquil escape from the chaos of the city. I strongly suggest adding this stunning attraction to your Delhi itinerary

A great place to visit in Delhi and it's very near to the Jor Bagh metro station. Ticket can be digitally available from the code or their site. Very beautiful and great monument. Just one issue, the archaeological survey of India should maintain it properly and there should be washrooms as well. Outside the place there is nothing nearby to eat. But overall a good place to visit in a lovely weather.

Had been crossing this place for years while passing through lodhi road, finally got some time to enjoy the beauty of this masterpiece and to sit back and feel the silence. The weather came to help and it was all a mesmerizing experience and memory. The security staff is very supportive and friendly and place is clean💯. Must go place.

The tomb complex is set within a large walled garden, and is surrounded by lush green lawns and fountains. The tomb itself is a square building made of sandstone and marble, with four minarets at the corners. The interior of the tomb is decorated with intricate carvings and calligraphy.

Safdar-Jang's Tomb, built in 1754, is the final example of the architectural style that began with Humayun’s tomb. The square double-storeyed structure, located within a large garden on the charbagh pattern, features a bulbous marble dome. Despite its exaggerated ornamentation and disproportionate design, it stands as ‘the last flicker in the lamp of Mughal architecture at Delhi.’ Entrance fees range from Rs. 20-300 per head, with free admission for children up to 15 years.

Safdarjung's Tomb stands as a splendid architectural gem in New Delhi, reflecting Mughal influence. The symmetrical garden and the grand mausoleum create a serene ambience. The intricate carvings and peaceful surroundings make it a great historical site to explore. However, some visitors note the need for better maintenance and preservation efforts. Overall, Safdarjung's Tomb is a worthwhile visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful escape in the heart of the city.

During my visit to Safdarjung Tomb, it was undergoing renovation. Despite the ongoing work, the atmosphere remained serene with minimal crowds. Ideal for a peaceful solo stroll with music. Entrance fee is Rs. 20 via QR code. Evening visits are recommended.
