My husband and I were celebrating our 15 year anniversary and he mentioned that he stayed here quite often (even though we live nearby). I was excited to finally experience where he was spending so many nights away from our family and let me tell you…he’s been living the LIFE! First, we met Brenda at the check in counter. She immediately recognized my husband and addressed him by his first name. She gave us a complimentary upgrade to one of their smoking suites (my hubby smokes the cigs). Another guest who must’ve been a frequent of the Regal Inn, helped us to our room and gave us a mini tour, she knew so much about the property and my husband I was just in awe. Such an experience! The room was everything I hoped for. A working and retro-feel television for us to watch the morning news, great ambient noise to help us fall asleep, and the perfect lighting for beautiful love making thanks to the purposeful light fixtures with no bulbs. My main bugaboo about hotels is the lack of being with nature, those cockroaches and bed bugs made us feel like we were in the middle of Maine or southern Alabama. 5/5 would come back as I know hubby has a stay planned for tomorrow with one of his work clients. Great time!

I wish I could give them 0 stars. This is the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in! Also the lady was so mean! Terrible customer service! She literally yelled at me. Right when I walked in here it was so nasty! Then I asked for a refund and they said no refunds. So I started cleaning the floor with the towels. Then I walked down to the front desk to ask for some clean towels. I brought the dirty towels to show them how dirty it was. Then the lady at the front desk told me "your room is clean". I literally just showed her how nasty the towels were. She then told me there are no extra towels, in a very rude way. How do they have ANY extra towels! I'm so beyond mad. DO NOT stay here! It is so awful I've had the worst experience here.

Housekeeping is poor and needs to clean more thoughly, didn't even want to take a shower in nasty tub. I've had a poorly cleaned room more than once and have complained. I was told the parents were cleaning rooms at one time i called to complain. They're old and that's unacceptable,no wonder they couldn't clean the tub at least one of those times. Broken fixtures need to be fixed and replaced, Mattress was dented and felt springs and was very uncomfortable. They make enough money to do better and upgrade, alot of people visit and stay so they make enough money to do better and should. It's not great but less ran down than the other motels and there's gas stations and a couple food spots in that area is the only nice thing I can say.

This place is absolutely repulsive. Doesn't deserve 1 star. I don't mind "roach motels" too much. When you're poor you gotta do what you gotta do. This place is a whole other level of horrible. There are constant junkies outside the doors. The staff is even on crack and offering it to everyone. They have rats crawling around in the ceiling. Roaches everywhere. Nothing actually cleaned. They do the absolute bare minimum and charge outrageous prices for what you get. Honestly you'd be allot more comfortable sleeping in your car. Unfortunately, they really take advantage of the type of ppl (the poor, mostly) that need this place

Its got newer more secure entry system with key cards. Have mini fridge, tvv, smoking rooms, and ac units. The noncarpeted floor was nice and felt cleaner than other places. There were dead roaches in mini fridge...room smelled of cigarette smoke...only cash...and only 1 sheet on bed. The bathroom window was sketchy at best and shower head stopped working during shower.

One of the worst motels in the worst part of the city. It's the kind of place where you have to avoid eye contact with other guests to avoid being threatened. The front desk clerk told me they require housekeeping to come at least once a week, but then housekeeping told me it was every 4 days while pestering me after only two days. When my representative from the city government apparently miscommunicated a payment arrangement, the motel staff said I had until 1:30pm to pay. When I went to pay at noon, they told me that they were going to kick me out for not accepting housekeeping service, whereas I had just allowed housekeeping the previous day. They changed their story again and said it's required daily, which is absolutely absurd for any motel. That same day, housekeeping came to change our towel and trash, but refused to change the bedding despite telling them to do it. I have to wonder if the real reason they're treating us like this was because they don't like something they noticed about me and my romantic partners that's legally protected, because the staff's behavior toward us was completely irrational. My room didn't have a phone, "do not disturb" sign, nor even a shade. The walls are gouged up. The shower tiles are cracked. The keycards randomly stop working. The hot water takes 5 to 10 minutes to get up to temperature. The driveway is an extremely narrow bridge not wide enough for vehicles to pass. They apparently never wash the duvets despite constantly pestering me to let them change the bedding. They have German cockroaches and bedbugs here. One of the cabinets didn't have a knob on it. The shower curtain rod was mangled. The ceiling above the window was damaged. Wires dangled hazardously from the ceiling outside my room. The balcony railings are dangerously low. The bathroom was missing a towel rod. The TV had no signal. My WiFi calls kept dropping because of the unstable connection.

For the price it's not bad. If you need a cheap place to stay you get what you pay for.

I always try to give the most fair and reasonable reviews I can, with that being said this motel is lacking in a few areas. We'll start with check in, lady was nice, transaction was pleasant and brief (the way I like it). Parking was tight but there was a spot for us. Let's move into the room. The first thing I noticed was sagging/crooked floors with a cheap laminate floor. The flooring was also popping up in many places. Let's move into the bathroom. I liked the way it was done, floor was of good quality like granite tiles, however one was cracked and there appeared to be many burnt/Brown spots. I assumed from people cooking up drugs, no biggie to me. There was also quite a large toothpaste swipe on the wall by the toilet paper roll dispenser and two poorly patched holes on the bathroom door. The mattress was sagging and crooked, it made for an interesting night of sleep, although the linens were absolutely clean. Noise level was not bad at all, a.c. unit helped block out noise very nicely and worked good to. In the morning I looked under the bed to check for a pair of my pants and ooomg wow nobody ever cleans under it, somebody's dirty shoe insert was under it, along with other little odds and ends and about a 1/4 inch of dust. Over all, it wasn't terrible but I had a much more pleasant and clean experience down the road with the Hampton Harbor Inn. I would most likely not stay here again or recommend it to a friend.

The Regal Inn, New Haven, CT - An Unassuming Treasure My visit to The Regal Inn in New Haven last July revealed a delightful surprise. Tucked away in the Amity neighborhood, this motel offers a charming and unique experience that sets it apart. Prime Location: Located at 1605 Whalley Ave, the Regal Inn enjoys a strategic position in the heart of Amity. Its neighborhood rating is well-deserved, offering guests the perfect spot for sightseeing and enjoying local activities. The motel's proximity to transit and airports makes it a convenient choice for both tourists and business travelers. Effortless Check-in and Comfort: The check-in process, beginning at 2:00 PM, was smooth and welcoming. The staff's friendly demeanor added a personal touch to my experience. My room was a pleasant surprise – it was clean, well-kept, and offered a peaceful retreat from the bustling city. Exceptional Value: One of the most striking features of The Regal Inn is its incredible value. With affordable rates and the flexibility of free cancellation, this motel stands out as a budget-friendly option that doesn’t skimp on quality. The ability to contact the property directly for rates and availability adds an appreciated personal touch. Overall Impression: My stay at The Regal Inn was thoroughly enjoyable. This motel combines simplicity with comfort, creating a welcoming atmosphere that’s often missing in larger, more commercial establishments. It's perfect for travelers seeking a straightforward, comfortable, and affordable place to stay. Recommendation: For those planning to visit New Haven, consider The Regal Inn. It's a great choice if you're looking for a convenient, simple, and charming accommodation. The motel is a shining example of how a modest setting can deliver a satisfying and memorable experience.

Walked in at 2am to get a room for the night while driving though. Had already seen the rooms going for 52 online. Asked how much for a room was told $70 told him the rooms were going for $52 online. He responded back "Never come here again." No worries there i left.

Location was close to the beach which was nice but a bit pricey for what it is. Building appears rather outdated. Super tight parking, so be careful with your car. No elevator. Sketchy people hanging around. Probably a good idea to make sure the door is locked, often felt the need to check, although police seem to patrol the area at night. Room seemed clean and decent except for a hole that seemed to have been punched into our wall. Thin walls, not very good privacy besides for some dinky blinds. Bed was alright, no weird stains in sheets. Not the best wifi. Not a bad place to stay for a single night.

If u need a bed and four walls then this is the place for u. Other than that it sucks. A very skeevy vibe. Very uncomfortable bed thats not connected to headboard so it rolls across the floor every time you sit. The linens were super dirty. The bathroom had mildew. The neighbor was arguing loudly with her boyfriend all night.

It's is my go to place it can be a little bit noisy but it is the clientele. But it could be a better place if it was a good place to crash for a couple of days and they could make it more secure and add real motel services like ice machine and drinks soap and other amenities for the guest room are very nice and comfy and I will have to say I did get my rest on the two occasions I visited the hood is not welcoming but I just stayed inside. The price was a surprise and it was a great value for what they gave us the staff was the typical Indian personality but they were cool as long as you pay your things they offer in the lobby
