Me and my girlfriend drove out to seaside boardwalk stopped here beforehand. Was not disappointed . Food was super fresh and the family who runs the business showed great hospitality. A must if your craving fresh delicious food.

Very delicious food! Got a little packed when we got there so service was a little slower than expected, but completely understandable. Definitely recommend this place. The lobster Mac and cheese was amazing and the oysters were very fresh.

Great seafood from a local place that is both a seafood restaurant and fish market. We ate dinner there. I had the crab cakes, and my wife had the coconut shrimp. Our sides were cole slaw and roasted baby potatoes. Everything was fresh and prepared with care. Both dinners were excellent. Friendly staff as well. After dinner, we bought some flounder to take home. That was also fresh and delicious. We'll be back...

Came here yesterday at 6:45 just 15 minutes before closing. I enjoyed the fried catfish sandwich and my guest had the lobster roll with corn nuggets and we grabbed a quart of lobster bisque from the fridge. Each sandwich came with fries & coleslaw, the catfish had tartar sauce on the side as well. It was very good, cooked perfectly, packed great. The display was empty because they were closing up in minutes. Restaurant was immaculately clean and all set for the next day. The owners son took care of us and he was very friendly and polite. Pops and his son prepared the food freshly while we waited and mom packed everything up to go. The only reason for 4 stars was I was not able to sit inside and eat so I can't rate the wait and table service. Also all the fresh fish was put away for the night so I did not see their display which im sure is perfect. I'm guessing that would be #5 star but they will be reviewed again and updated to earn it because I will definitely be back. This place is a gem. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a good fish fry. I traveled home for 30 minutes and the food remained warm, that's on me but again eating inside (some day soon) will be the test. For now, this place is good, very good. To be continued!!! For now, go check it out.

Today was our first time at Monte’s and I can say unequivocally it is NOT our last. We had the most delicious, perfectly cooked, and Fresh seafood we have ever eaten in a restaurant. I highly recommend the stuffed clams and crab cakes. You will not be sorry. The menu has lots of tasty dishes and I plan to taste them all. So I guess that means we’re coming back- over and over again. And next time we’re bringing the son and daughter-in-law. Thank you Monte’s Fish Fry. Oh and did I mention the fried flounder. The serving looked like it could have been the whole fish! Oh and I suggest that you wear comfortable clothes. You’ll want some extra room at the waist. 😃

Living on the Jersey Shore you would think that there are a lot of seafood resturants but actually there very few. I discoved this place on a Google search and based on reviews I went there. This is not a fancy resturant but it's a fresh fish market that serves fresh caught fish. The resturant was clean and had about 10 tables. The menu offered a variety of fish dishes. We ordered corn fritters as a appetizer and they where sweet and well prepared. My wife has the fish and chips and she got 2 very large cod filets , I had the fried scallops and they were fresh and prepared perfectly. For dessert we had a fresh cannoli. I highly recommend giving this place a try. PS they have weekly specials during the week

This place is PHENOMENAL!!! Customer service, cleanliness, menu options, quantity, FLAVOR, price... everything was absolutely amazing!!! We ordered "The Kraken" seafood boil, shrimp scampi, a chicken sandwich, and a few more things, and everything far exceeded our expectations (which were already super high because we heard such great reviews). We've lived 10 minutes down the road for 4 years and have never heard of this place, but there's no doubt at all that we'll be back alllll the time!!!

First time here after hearing good things. Some off the best seafood I have ever had. The staff were all extremely nice and many of the customers were greeted like part of the family. Will definitely be going back again and again. Got the Full Monte meal and was only able to finish half.

My mom and I come to this place all the time and the food is phenomenal. I always get the hot lobster roll. I do wish they had another store they just dedicate to their cooked food as well, maybe on the side. The uncooked fish is also always fresh. The customer service is also excellent. I can’t wait to see this place grow and expand!

This place is GOOD! Family owned. Proud of their food and it shows in the flavor & freshness. Great service. All the seafood was FRESH. Nothing was overcooked! Snow crab 🦀 shrimp, scallops, flounder, clam strips. The place does NOT smell of greasy old fried oil (as many do). ** They breaded the clam strips as they make them!!!!!!!! Made to order seafood here!!!!

My husband had the shrimp po boy with the old bay fries I had the captains platter with cod. The platter came with a generous portion of cod, shrimp and scallops, for sides I had the roasted potatoes and green beans. The shrimp po boy had plenty of shrimp and the roll was crusty on the outside and soft inside, perfectly done! The old bay fries were very good, not dry. The captains dinner was perfection, cod was battered and flaky not overdone, the shrimp were very good but the scallops were amazing! The green beans were delicious not hard at all. The roasted potatoes were the little yellow golden potatoes and were seasoned just right. Only downsize I could find if I had to was the tartar sauce they were out of any extra. I whipped some up quickly at home so really not an issue. Pricing was fair, definitely coming back soon!!

Definitely a hidden gem! Ever since I went to Maine last summer, I've been searching for a lobster roll locally in NJ that tastes as good and I think I've finally found it. Wish I had snapped a picture of it before I gobbled it up. The bun was toasted perfectly with just the right amount of butter and the lobster meat was fresh with huge pieces included. The fries and coleslaw the came with it were yummy as well. The lobster roll was much better tasting, bigger quantities of meat, and definitely better priced than any of the other spots I've checked out including Spike's, Shore Fresh, Red's, etc. I don't ever write reviews and would definitely come back just for the lobster roll, but I wanted to take the time to shout out the staff and owners for their service. We recently went to Monte's to celebrate my godmother's birthday and not only was all the seafood delicious and cooked to perfection (I hate when people overcook tuna bites, shrimp, etc.), but the staff was friendly and super-thoughtful! They gave my godmother a birthday appetizer on the house with huge shrimp (not those lame small ones). When I asked for an extra bowl so my young boys could split a chowder, the waitress kindly accommodated and more than split the soup for the two of them. When it was time to sing and have cake, we didn't realize they were closing at 7:00 PM, but they didn't rush us out at all. We will certainly be coming back and I hope others support this local business!

I stopped in today after my daughters soccer game with a friend and his daughter. Everything we ordered was so good. The quality and the portions were amazing. It’s a small family owned business. They were very friendly and appreciative. If you’re a seafood lover like us, you will love this place as much as we did. We’ll definitely be back.

Amazing is an understatement! Food was fresh. Portions were perfect. Each dish we tried had a unique bold taste yet seemed simple. Perfect comfort food. We were so busy enjoying it we didn’t take pictures lol

Very tasty meals here and good portion sizes. Have ordered the crab cakes several times and they never disappoint !! Also the steamed clams and Manhattan clam chowder were delicious! Interior is a little Spartan. We always take our food to go.

Was very excited to try this place from the reviews but we were very disappointed with the outcome. We ordered fish tacos which were gross and no flavor at all that came with jar salsa and chips. Shrimp and scallop Alfredo which made my husband sick. And fried clam strips which were actually the only good thing out of the whole order. Don’t think we will be trying it again sadly bc we love seafood. I get it’s the off season but old fish is gross to serve. Do better and I’m just being kind with 4 stars it’s more like 2.5/3 but I don’t want to disturb your map reviews.

From Michigan, found this out of the way place and decided to try it because of all the excellent reviews. Reviews were spot on, even a gal from Virginia found them online, we both had excellent meals. Don’t miss this family run gem if your in the area. Thanks for a great dinner. Had the Full Monte with an 8oz Lobster side. Owner came out to see if dinner was what we expected. Bravo

Food cooked to perfection. We were heading to the Boardwalk and happened upon this place to avoid busier places. My husband ordered the broiled platter with a lobster tail and I ordered coconut shrimp. My only disappointment was we didn't find this place sooner nor take pictures of our meals. Great staff, friendly and personable.

It was my first visit to this restaurant that was a favorite of one of my clients. I paid with cash to avoid the fee charged to credit card users. I ordered a seafood appetizer in marina sauce. I requested it to not be spicy as listed. It came out in a huge bowl with two pieces of grilled garlic bread. The shrimps, squids, and scallops were cooked perfectly. I mopped up every bit of sauce with the bread. It was a meal for me. With tax and tip the total was under $25.00. Service was pleasant. Take out is available, and dining in is casual. Unpretentious in a strip mall with free parking.
