I visited two of the museums here: The Natural History Museum & National Museum Jamaica. I also got to see the Dolls of Japan exhibition which is a traveling exhibition. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. A lot was learned about Jamaican culture and heritage.

Just go!!! A visit is essential. Extremely informative collection of institutions. Fantastic resource. They have so much valuable information, and the staff is helpful, efficient, and friendly. The only negative is that it is located downtown which makes it a bit of a hassle to get to. I cannot say enough great things about this place!!!!

Our visit to the institute of Jamaica was quite educating. My students enjoyed the tour and asked a lot of valid questions. They particularly enjoyed the music museum and Treasures, mysteries and stories. I suggest they add a cafe that sells Jamaican food and snacks.

As usual, the Grounation series held every February to celebrate Reggae Month started off with thought provoking presentations and lively music.

Had a really disappointing tour of the National Museum in which the tour guide seemed to not know much about the exhibitions or Jamaican history. She also gave contradictory information about different displays. I think she was not the official tour guide but I wish she communicated this because we would have been fine walking around by ourselves reading. Also thought the displays could be better as we went from the Taino to Africa then to Port Royal and then a random miss mash exhibition. Where was anything about the Spanish colonial period, the English colonial period and independence? The museum could really be invested in and promoted as a place folks can learn about Jamaican history

It was an experience. Saw some things that would have escaped my memory from childhood days. It was also fun to show my kids some of Jamaica's history.

Breathtaking experience learning about Jamaican and Caribbean history. Tour took about 1.5 hours and they are still adding new sections and exhibits. I had a few misconceptions cleared up and appreciated the team for their professionalism and courteousness. New exhibits are being added so will have to return to see the new stuff. Building is comfortable, air conditioned and rest room facilities available ....just in case that was a concern. Parking may be a bit tricky but security is present to provide assistance in that regard.

If you are someone who likes to know your roots, know your history. This is one of the museum to go. The artifacts are labelled, the space is clean and the aura is relaxing. They also offer cultural services to kids such as dance, speech and arts.

Well,it's a museum with many artifacts There are tour guides to give tours of the artifacts. Different exhibits such as the taino and port royal exhibits. There is also a lecture hall where you get lectured on different topics concerning the island's history. Schools can plan trips there or people just pay a visit. Just make sure to eat before because they dont serve food. The rooms are air conditioned as well.
