My first visit to this zoo with my family! Do not underestimate this place reserve at least 2 hours for exploration. Pros - Large terrain to cover thus lots to see! - Lots of exotic animals - Petting Zoo especially great for kids - Relaxing environment… you forget you’re in Kingston - Lots of rest and relaxing stations Cons - Limited parking - Lions will only be up and about around feeding time ~ 3pm

They have improved drastically which makes it more welcoming and all age-friendly. We all enjoyed our time. Most say that I'm going to walk with a bag next time to get more Bombay mangoes at my entrance fee coat (free.... Eat what we grow😁). My only issue is why do I have to pay for parking when I'm going to park at the zoo location and pay an entrance fee?

Great opportunity to teach your child(ren) about the various animals while spending quality time. The Avian offering was great and children love it. Also a good opportunity to get some sun and steps in as this was a great walk around. The child play area is also great for kids. Overall, a great family "outdoor" experience.

This is just a piece of heaven. It's simply beautiful. The Garden well manicured, nice shady trees to just relax and breathe fresh air of nature. Beautiful space for a picnic. I went to the Chinese Garden and discovered a bit of mystery. In the Chinese court there is a centre piece that when you stand in the centre of that centre and speak your voice is amplified in such a way that you can feel it but those listening will not hear the difference. A bit weird but Kool.

It was entertaining and fun. The kids were having a blast seeing the animals. The lions were great and actually walked around and gave us a show. The zoo was clean and I was happy to see some new animals frkm the last time I went. My favwere the lion and the lioness, the kangaroos and the ostriches.

Great place to go. Needs a bit of maintenance. I hope that corporate Jamaica and other organizations locally and international can help in the development of this Zoo. Went there with my son and I definitely enjoyed myself. This is a place for the family and also a mental health getaway with nature and animals. I would recommend to any and everyone!

We had a nice time at Hope Zoo. The area would benefit from more investment from the government to make this a really great tourist destination with better signage and larger enclosures. The security gentleman at the entrance was very friendly and helpful. The cashier lady however did not even greet us, smile, or tell us the entrance fee. She just stared in our eyes blankly and then took a phone call as we were standing there waiting for her to engage with us. Very rude and unwelcoming first impression. Everything after that was okay though. The grounds and foliage are lovely and shady. It is a nice place to spend the morning or afternoon. Better signange from the main road is much needed.

Nicely upgraded and bunch of new animals. They also have a play area for children and a snack shop. It was a pleasant surprise based my memory of the place from years ago.

Hope Zoo, what can I say except its absolutely beautiful. This was my first time visiting after 20+ years, looks smaller than I remembered but still a beautiful place to visit with the family or that special someone. The gardens are well kept, my only disappointment was seeing that main fountain not working, as a child growing up that was the spot to take photos, but overall it was a wonderful feeling being back at hope Gardens.

There aren’t a lot of different animals. Lots of different kinds of birds. The animals looked not cared for and the crocodile looked very dry. The staff were not very friendly and seemed to hate their jobs. I would not recommend this zoo.

Big and beautiful! The place was missing more animals and directional arrows, but do definitely recommend visiting. A few "popular" animals are there, but would have loved to see a tiger and a few other. However place is well kept, and ambiance is amazing. As nature lover, this is a must visit.

The Zoo is well kept. The animals appear well taken care of and properly fed. The grounds has a series of maps which assist with finding where you want to go. There is a Kiosk that sells snacks and refreshments (a life-saver in that humid location). There is also a play area equipped with monkey bars, jungle gym, swings, seesaws and seating. This allows visitors to get a break from walking the vast grounds as they look at animals. The downside to the zoo experience is that you are on your own. No guide or anything. Just you and other wandering visitors trying to view the animals. I don't believe that it's value for money when the is no kind of guidance as you traverse the grounds. I believe there could be set times of the day or the week even when there is a guide and persons can choose to have the guided tour. LetsGuide 👣...Live the Experience letsguide@IG

The only reason I did not give a five is because the zoo is loosing reptiles and animals alike. I wish them all the best. I have not entered this place in over 30 years and the property was clean and beautiful. Apart from the sounds of the Macaw birds it was tranquility at its finest. Jamaicans need to step up and patronize the only zoo this side of Ja.

I loved this place from I was a child, I can remember my mother taking us there. It's very beautiful; the flower, the animal and everything about the place is an adventure. It's great for wedding, school trips, a picnic or just a day out. My children enjoy visiting whenever we are in Jamaica.

Small and cute. This is not where you’ll find a barrage of animals. Instead, you will find beautiful scenery, lots of birds and a cool calm atmosphere. Great for younger children as their first zoo experience.

Visited here on Emancipation Day with my son who was absolutely ecstatic about this outing. $1,500 for adults & $1,000 for kids (2-11). We explored the zoo on our own but I think we would have enjoyed it more had it been a guided tour. Lots to see & it's pretty easy to end up going around in circles & still not seeing all the animals. With all the activities they offer, my son was only able to partake in feeding the barn animals, more specifically, a goat because: 1. The cows had just eaten. 2. Petting, another activity, is only accommodated on Saturdays and Sundays (we visited on a Monday). 3. When the tuckshop attendant tried radioing to see if we could feed a budgie, no one picked up.... My son enjoyed visiting though so that made the trip worthwhile.

Title: A Perfect Photo Safari at Hope Gardens Zoo! Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I recently visited Hope Gardens Zoo for a photoshoot with my clients – the birthday girl, her parents, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The backdrop of diverse animals provided the perfect setting for capturing memorable moments. The lions, zebras, giraffes, crocodiles, parrots, birds, turtles, and cheetahs created a dynamic and visually stunning atmosphere. The vibrant and varied scenery allowed me to capture a wide range of shots, providing my clients with a unique and unforgettable photo collection. Beyond the picturesque settings, the zoo staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, ensuring our visit was enjoyable and stress-free. The well-maintained enclosures and the overall cleanliness of the zoo added to the positive experience. I highly recommend Hope Gardens Zoo to fellow photographers and anyone seeking a picturesque location with a fantastic array of wildlife for their special moments. It's a hidden gem for capturing the beauty of nature and creating lasting memories. I'm looking forward to returning for future shoots!

I haven’t been to hope zoo in years!!! It was very green and fresh, nice tall trees lots of shade. Spacious and clean. They needed more captivating animals and also tour guides for those who request it. Was somewhat hard to find our way around. Needed more signs and directory. Also for a place that doesn’t allow food there wasn’t much meal options

A lot of birds (parrots, parakeets, pheasants, budgies, Macaws, doves, flamingos, swans, ostriches, Falcons, toucans), it's basically a bird sanctuary. There were donkeys, zebras, miniature horses and a pony. They had malnourished looking mongooses. I saw squirrel monkeys and another There are no Bobcats, even though there's a sign that says there is. There were 2 kangaroos. They had 2 white tailed deers. Sheep and goats in small enclosed spaces. There were snakes at least 8. Saw a crocodile and 2 alligators, several iguanas and turtles and 2 tortoises. My favourites were the lions. One of each gender. The lion was smaller than I expected. The lioness was gorgeous. Would definitely revisit, but by myself. Its really peaceful and green.

The place is clean and beautiful with several animals to view. The landscaping work makes the location provide a beautiful ambiance with seems to be consistently maintained. There is a Zeba, many different types of birds, snakes, monkeys, rabbits, crocodiles, donkeys, ostriches, ponies and an iguana, deer, kangaroos...those are the animals I can remember off the top of my head. A grounds man told me that they would soon have camels. Be prepared to meet the peacocks and pea hens casually walking around the grounds. Birds are the most common animals at the zoo from flamingos to ducks, from hawks to owls and many wonderful vibrantly coloured macaws. If you are lucky you may hear a birdie say hello or 'Waah gwaan'. There are many gazebos available to sit and grab a bite or relax for awhile with family and plenty of space for children to run about.

We spent 3 hours in the zoo and absolutely enjoyed our experience. It's a a little sad that a few, like 4, animals had died, but the experience in the petting zoo - holding and petting the crocodile, the snake and feeding the sheeps and Candy the goat - certainly add to it. There were also several peahens and a peacock roaming freely which added to the experiemce. The lions were much livelier than last time and their roar was heard throughout, and that also added to the thrills. Plus, the number of birds greeting you with "hello" as you passed by certainly made us feel welcome. There's a kiosk for snacking inside the zoo and a play area for toddlers and older kids probably up to 10/12.

They need more animals....they could introduce some local animals to boost inventory . For example there are so many people who have never seen a cow or a mule in real life-just on TV or pictures. I felt the loneliness that the poor Zebra is feeling . The vegetation was green and lush though.

I visit hope zoo on Monday August 1,2022 with my family. There was no one there to show us around. We had to be the ones showing ourselves around. Half of the animals where sleeping and I was so excited to see a alligator only to see a turtle in its position. The swings were dirty.. The place is beautiful but needs better customer service and more animals. Disappointed I drive for about 3 and a half hours for that.

This was a childhood moment relived when my family. The animals looked well and th grounds are immaculately kept as staff tend to different areas. Kudos to the staff and entire management who are doing an excellent job of bringing pieces of the world to Jamaica. The play area was not limited to children as adults, including myself, made great use of the swing and other equipment ☺️
