Firstly waiting on food to be prepared and on arrival food was cold. Catering for outsiders than your guest is not the way to operate. Workers in the restaurant must do a better job of preparing the table before a guest sits down. Rooms should have enough towels & rags to match how many guest occupy the room. Car park too small. Could go on & on but time is of essence

R Hotel was mostly a great experience. The reception at the front desk was very efficient, fast and friendly. The young man who served me made my wife and I feel at home. The rooms though on the small side felt very roomy, very clean, and are well laid out, comfortable and equipped with very good technology. The design and decoration of this hotel are well thought out, especially the restaurant area which includes a bar, pool and entertainment areas. The food was not bad and the breakfast hit the right spots! The sights of New Kingston in both day and night from the fifth floor are very beautiful! The only negative is the really very tight driveway and parking experiences. Our vehicle ended up with a few scratches. It will be good if management can look into this aspect. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

This is not a 5 star hotel if you are a long term guest. Some staff are excellent, others are mediocre and a few, I’m not quite sure how they are employed. The standards are not consistent in part because the 5 star culture is not reinforced or there are not enough incentives for staff. It’s cool for a short term stay 2-3 days any longer your investment and experience is at risk. Internet is problematic for streaming business calls, food delivery takes much longer than expected, hand off of food is often at the door. There are no daily vegan/ vegetarian (non ovo) options for breakfast. The dining area is semi open and has a pleasant view. On Thursday or Friday night, room service is sketchy. I advise you to order upstairs (5th floor), wait for your food and go and collect in person when it’s ready or you may have to wait for 2 hours. AC Marriott offers much better and consistent service for longer term stays. With the reduction in tourists, establishments should try even harder to retain and train their staff to offer the services they advertise. Sadly that does not appear to be a priority here. It’s shame - this place has a lot of potential and some great staff, there are just not enough of them who feel the need to work at a 5 star level consistently.

Three stars is for checkout process, extremely rude when checking out and trying to charge for makeup on sheet/pillow case. If you’re looking for family friendly hotel I’d recommend. Not luxury, budget friendly. Quiet, nice bar area. Check/In was smooth and greeted with a smile and extremely helpful. Overall 3.8!

First of all I would not recommend this so called hotel to any one. This is by far one of the worst experiences ever… It all started when I had to park my car outside on the road side because the parking space was too small…. The receptionist booked me a king size deluxe room but it was the total opposite, the room was equipped with two twin beds joined together 😳 Most uncomfortable sleep ever…. The complimentary breakfast was atrocious, the service of far from the best if I should continue I doubt it end… Hence I would not recommend this place not even to my enemy… 1 ⭐️ not 4 ⭐️

To start with I think what made the difference was the staff, they helped us when we needed help I love the maisonette flat rooms. It’s amazing to have a full working kitchen plus washing machine and dryer. Big bathrooms and closets. The gym has a multi workout machine but also there is dumbbells and a bench with a 20kg bar, plates are under the table (need desk to open them). Something to improve is the AC at the main room, the lowers fan position was stronger than all the others. Also, one of the picture on the living room was not great at all. The ones with the leaves upstairs were great tho. Breakfast was nice, I would recommend the Jamaican version. The pool was small but very long and cool. Overall it was great and they made our stay even better

Big up to Monique@Reception, thanks for your help. The rooms where clean and other staff members where helpful. They gave me and my bridal party the benefit of coming in early and getting ready for my wedding. Thanks again

I recently had the misfortune of staying at "The R Hotel" in Kingston, Jamaica, and my experience was far from satisfactory. I had high hopes for this hotel, especially since it was my birthday trip, but a series of issues, from a persistent odor in the room to problems with the included breakfast, left me deeply disappointed. Room Odor and Uncomfortable Beds: Upon entering the room, I immediately noticed an unpleasant odor. It was a musty, stale smell that lingered throughout my stay. The odor was a significant drawback and made the room feel less than clean and welcoming. Additionally, the beds were not comfortable at all. They were hard, lumpy, and small, making it difficult to get a good night's sleep. This was particularly frustrating, considering that comfort should be a fundamental feature of any hotel. Breakfast Confusion: I booked my stay at "The R Hotel" through my work's website, which included breakfast as part of the package. However, the confusion didn't end there. On the second morning, when I arrived for breakfast, I was told that I would need to pay an additional fee for my companion's breakfast. This was baffling, as my itinerary clearly stated that breakfast was included for four people. The staff insisted that I had only paid two persons, despite my repeated attempts to clarify the matter. Staff Reluctance (2/5): Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of my stay at "The R Hotel" was the attitude of the staff. When I tried to address the issues with the breakfast confusion, the staff seemed reluctant to help or find a satisfactory resolution. They were dismissive of my concerns and showed little empathy or willingness to rectify the situation. This lack of customer service left a sour taste in my mouth throughout my stay, especially since I had chosen this hotel for my birthday celebration. In conclusion, my stay at "The R Hotel" in Kingston, Jamaica, was marred by a persistent room odor, uncomfortable beds, and a frustrating breakfast situation. The staff's reluctance to address these issues effectively, coupled with the discrepancies in the breakfast package, significantly detracted from what was supposed to be a memorable birthday trip. I would not recommend this hotel to others, as it fell far short of the expected standards for a pleasant and hassle-free stay. I do not recommend you stay at this hotel.

The best part the hotel was the lounge on the roof but for the waterway(pool) need to be removed as an amenity because that is not an even a puddle. The bed was very uncomfortable, I could feel the springs piercing my back and the bed was basically on the floor. The access door to the balcony could barely open you had to use all your strength to open it. Hotel was pretty clean by the way Costumer service wasn’t bad either.

This place is terrible do not go there. Be careful swiping your bank or credit card Here. I did and my card says declined twice even thou my balance says more than enough to cover the charge. I then decided to use another bank card and pay when thru. The next day I got notified by my bank that on their end the twice declined transaction went thru and I was charged twice the amount to stay at the hotel. The R hotel when asked about the transaction said they don't have the money and did not know where the money went even thou the bank verified the payment was done and received with their online transactions approval. Sounds more like a scam to me. Do not let this happen to you don't go there, right now I have been told I have to wait 60 days to get my money back. Also, the two double beds put together to make a king-size bed didn't make sense either it sucks this trip was a nightmare. The parking situation is another joke its like can food in a thin. Room for a lot of improvement reminds me why I use Marriott. The R hotel ads it's not what u see when u stay don't believe the hype

Applied a rate higher than quoted at time of booking, kept the $100 room deposit (lied "refund is on the way"), the cab they provided did a lot of driving in the opposite direction of where we were going. Room was fine. Restaurant was OK too but overall - not great.

This hotel is lovely I stayed here twice on my trip to Jamaica. It's very modern the staff is super friendly and helpful I do recommend if you're in Kingston and looking for a modern boutique hotel. The rooftop restaurant is good breakfast is included which is a plus and they also have night time entertainment if you wanna chill

I paid so much money and not even a blow dryer was in my room. Couldn't use the pool which was not communicated before hand had to go out n eat as i was told kitchen close at 12 I booked 10 pm and when I went to to the kitchen I heard it's close n they have private function. If I was told these things before hand I would not have booked I could have just booked into a airbnb Q

We loved this hotel. We wanted a place we could stay in the downtown area, it had a very modern look and the rooftop restaurant had some of the best food we could eat in Jamaica. They do have a pool on the roof and a gym in the basement, but they are small. The rooftop pool is more for decor but if you have kids or want to jump in yourself you can. It's like one lane of a pool. They have a bar and dj area as well. Great for romantic dinners and we had family stop by while we were staying so the 5th floor is also open for people not staying at the hotel and there is parking for them.

The hotel is beautiful. The location is close to restaurants and plazas. The room was very nice and the balcony looked at the mountains. They had a restaurant on the 5th floor. The only downside was every time we left and they cleaned I was unable to use my key card to enter my room. I had to go to the front desk to have them recalibrate it. That was very annoying and to top it off they never told me why.

Very spacious. Feels like home. Two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. Plus a balcony to sit and look out. It's a hotel I look forward to returning to. 4 stars because when I went to the gym, I was spooked out. Yes,it was midnight but the atmosphere felt spooky so I went to my room

A hidden gem in the heart of the city. They offer all the amenities expected from a comfortable and clean hotel, however, it is their attentive and warm hearted staff members who make the experience memorable! Highly recommended. Their chefs are also doing an incredible job of serving delicious dishes; their menu boasts of numerous traditional Jamaican favourites. Do try their garlic lobster and oxtail dishes. Their breakfast menu is great too!

Hotel in New Kingston trying to give NYC vibes. I said try because most of it's decor had NY influence. I was not impressed at all and here is why. 1. The twin beds are tiny, like toddler tiny so don't ever book a twin room and they would not upgrade me once I realized how small the beds were. 2. The pool and location of it is laughable. It's this narrow strip of water between the bar and the restaurant on the 5th floor. I'm sorry but that is not a pool. 3. The food is "meh", for breakfast you get a small plate of food and if you add a extra piece of food you have to pay for the extra piece. Overall I was disappointed because the vibe represented online definitely did not match the vibe once I got there. I personally would not stay here again, but if this is your type of vibe then go for it.

We had a great stay at this location. It's been well over a month since we stayed there but the location was clean, well maintained and secure. The breakfast on the roof was awesome. Special thanks to Loriann for the great service. We will be back.

WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!!! Beautifully designed, very clean and well kept rooms. Friendly and helpful services and staff. Washer and dryer as well as free detergent and softer. On-site gym and great restaurant. Has partnerships with great car service that is very professional and reasonably priced. Very close to embassies, Devon House, knutsford Express bus services, Bob Marley museum, etc.

I'm from the states but hold dual citizenship here. I've stayed at many hotels in the new Kingston area. Not to bad of a review on them but no other like the front desk staff at the R. very calm and positive attitude which i usually don't get when i come back home. sad to say. I appreciate the hospitality and customer service delivered by your front desk especially! It created a fresh start for my short stay. Monique was very nice IVE NEVER FELT SO WARM waiting for my room and the wait wasn't long. Nicolene was amazing i saw her talking to a guest so patient and it was a breathtaking. Thank you for making the hotel industry succeed here.

One of the better hotels in Kingston. From check in to check out, the service was impeccable. The restaurant and rooftop bar were also great, with delicious food and cocktails. The location was ideal and walkable. Definitely recommend

Centrally located close to the business district as well as nearby attractions like Devon House. Clean and comfortable boutique styled hotel, with free parking, wifi and a complimentary breakfast that starts at 7am daily. Rooms are cozy, and comfortable with a great bed. I had a room with a kitchenette and coffee maker and microwave. On the 5th floor there is the restaurant that overlooks the Kingston skyline with amazing sunset views.

The stay was good we really enjoyed our Jamaica trip. The front desk needs training on how to welcome guests. The room was not up to standard, the bathroom shower doesn't have pressure, don't take included breakfast. We order a veggie & cheese omelette, barely you can find veggies in that omelette. The cheese was added to half of the omelette only. The dinner server was helpful. We order jerk chicken as Appetizer, and it was not cooked, test like sweet chicken. The main course Salmon was perfect, fries were soggy.

Hidden gem! Stayed at the R Hotel the last week of June. Customer Service was top notch, as checking in and out with Nicoline was quick and seemless. She was very warm, welcoming and informative of all the resort had to offer. The rooms (2) were both clean, fresh linens/towels provided everyday. A/C was on point, tv worked perfectly and the fridge/kitchenette was a welcome addition. Breakfast was amazing as the chef KNOWS! how to thrown down Jamaican breakfasts, think ackee/saltfish dumplings, pumpkin calaloo, escovitch fish etc. Our favorite waitress Kimberly (you ARE THE BEST) was very attentative, answered our questions and gave us some ideas on things to check out. We had to leave early 630am for a funeral and again Kimberly and Chef delivered! Made our breakfast fresh and early, packaged to go! We are forever grateful! The pool was a bit disappointing. Great to look at but at one lane its a bit out of place in the middle of the restaurant/bar area. Parking was also a bit limited but I came to understand there was more off the hotel site. Overall our stay was a welcome calming atmosphere out of the hustle and bustle of Kingston. We definitely will be returning as this is now our go to hotel once in Kingston. Thank you Nicoline, Jodi, Kimberly and Chef❤!!

Great place to spend the night if your in town from outside the country. We spent our honeymoon here and it was lovely! The staff was friendly a gift awaited us when we first entered our room. The accommodation was "breakfast included" and that was the first time I understood that it was an all you can eat breakfast buffet. Lol Would recommend to all travelers! Ps. Don't use the washer\dryer if you're pressed for time (it works slow)

I stayed here for Jamaica's carnival. The hotel restaurant was closed (for lunch and dinner) for most, if not all, of my stay. I was only able to eat breakfast at the restaurant. The food was okay. The pool was small and in the ground covered by glass, and it was located in the dining area so that the pool nor the dining area could be opened at the same time. The pool was only open a few hours of the day and also was closed for some days of my trip. We did lose power for a few hours, too.

This hotel compromised my security and others from checking into the hotel. They over booked and didn't have the 2 rooms I booked available at 7pm, 4 hours after check-in time when rooms should be readily prepared. They gave me the keys to another person's room with all their personal belongings inside. Then we had to be concerned about them giving our keys to another guest for the remainder of the stay. After correcting, we still didn't get the 2nd room we paid for until nearly 9pm when we were exhausted from traveling all day. Why on earth are rooms not ready for the guests 5-6 hours after check-in time. They're extremely short staffed -- resulting in being told to get things yourself etc when that's not my responsibility/job when I'm on vacation and PAYING for the stay. The bar staff specifically was amazing but front desk is far from what I expect when I book a hotel advertised by American Express vacations. I am originally from Jamaica and the experience and service compared to Iberostar, Riu etc in Montego Bay was a joke. The pool they advertise is for show - there's no easy access to a beach in Kingston so having a hotel with a pool is NECESSARY. No opportunity to sunbathe poolside ...so much for vacation. Restaurant not available on Monday and Tuesday, so you have to venture out to get meals...Insanely disappointed, wouldn't recommend and will resume staying at an All Inclusive in MO Bay like I do when I come to JA every year.

VERY uncomfortable bed!!!We anticipated a king-size bed only to be given two single beds joined together with a huge gap between the two. Stayed for one night but they charged our debit cards THREE times !!! We are still trying to get our money back . If you MUST stay here I recommend that you pay cash. I wouldn't want you guys to go through the hell we are going through now in an attempt to get back our money !!! Poor customer service and I totally detest the nonchalant attitude of the concierge supervisor!

The hotel is okay but gave them 4 stars because I had the most pleasant experience at breakfast. Trudy-Ann was our waitress & she truly understands what customer service is. She was so pleasant, polite & attentive. The did her job with so much joy & I got the feeling she wanted to be there. If I should stay again I hope it’s on a day when she’s working. Don’t be fooled by the reviews they post in their website. Here’s my true experience at this hotel, it’s definitely NOT a 4-star. It felt like they were playing games with me at the restaurant and dudes walked into my room, didn’t knock. This hotel and the restaurant located in it lacks professionalism and customer service. The garbage collectors walked into my room without knocking. The restaurant staff and cooks are unreasonably slow. It took over ONE-HOUR to get a simple bacon and eggs breakfast. How could it get any worse? Well it did. The server took my order at 9:44am and told me to return to pick up in 10-15 minutes. I returned in 15 minutes, only to wait for another 45 minutes in the restaurant. On top of that their “free” breakfast is only eggs and toast. I had to pay for bacon and another side. I felt so embarrassed and treated like a second class customer I wanted to run to my room and eat. The server offered to come collect the cash payment later. She called my room two hours later saying she’s on her way then doesn’t show up for another hour, while I was trying to nap. They did not offer me anything at all for the worst inconvenience I’ve ever experienced by a restaurant anywhere. I still had to pay for the “extras”. This made my stay bad from that moment on. I doubted ordering food again. I stayed at this hotel because of the restaurant and I expected top quality service for the top dollar I paid. The front desk staff did nothing to offer me any sort of customer service. Everyone was like “oh well”. They did not care about how that made me feel nor did they try to ensure that the rest of my stay would be comfortable. I will never go there again.

Room was nice and spacious. The breakfast was also amazing except that the serving was kinda small but tasted good. The pool is a joke. It’s just for decor. Parking is a little tricky. There’s this hill u gotta go down. They took around an hour to prepare dinner that I ordered that came cold with 2 little pieces of dry chicken and some rice. No veggies nothing that was overpriced. Wish I had went outside for food. The front desk staff and waitresses were very pleasant tho.

Visited the restaurant on July 9, 2022. My first time. The ambiance was good and we placed our order at about 7.20 pm and got the food at 9.08pm just at the time we were making our complaint. To add insult the the order was incomplete and the supervisor had to back to kitchen to retrieve after long wait. The attendant came only once to tell us food would be ready within 5 to 10 minutes which came half hour later. The experience was not I was expecting and the excuse I got from the supervisor made me think twice of the returning. My cousin from N.Y. was also disappointed.

Excellent customer service, lovely clean quiet rooms with great internet, and they maximized every inch of their locations available space, which you'll appreciate despite the tight turns when you can park out of the sun in the underground parking and enjoy spectacular views of Kingston and the hills from the rooftop restaurant which has mouthwatering food! Room service was mouthwatering and with excellent service as well, TV a nice size and the room a perfect temperature and appointed with a very modern kitchenette including flat top electric stove and great coffee bar well stocked... All just what we needed for test and relaxation after a disappointing experience elsewhere and after running up and down dealing with various government agencies in Kingston and Spanish Town all day Friday. They saved our 1.5 day turnaround in Kingston because we booked with them on the spot and last minute after the AirBnB we booked for the night in Kingston left us stranded by the owner not showing up to let us in and when reached him said he didn't even realize he had a booking, asked if it HAD to be that night (!!?!!!!), and wasn't even in Kingston to open the door. Big fail with both of Kingston and Mobay AirBnBs but the real MVPs of our trip like the wonderful staff and amenities at the R made up for all of that! Thank you, if we are ever in Kingston again we will definitely want to stay here! This was me, my husband, and daughter. Open a branch just like this in Montego Bay's business district please!

I had lunch in District 5. Iconic venue by name and nature. No mocking bird in sight. Excellent glass room design, high ceiling and spacious table top. All meal courses were on point and crafted by Chef Lumley. Many thanks to the servers for taking the time to notice the little things.

Experience here was good except for the security office at the gate who was rude. Chef Lumley was warm and welcoming while we celebrated a friend's birthday. The food was good and perfectly portioned. I would go back.

We had our evening dinner at District 5. Our meals were delicious! The DJ played excellent! The security, receptionist and waiter were also courteous and attentive.

This place was wonderful. Their before care was wonderful. A young lady named Monique began inquiring about my trip the moment I booked it to make sure that everything was successful. After being stuck in an air port all day and night, the staff made sure that the trip was still a success. This hotel made my fiancé 's birthday memorable from start to finish. Thanks Monique and the R hotel. They are really close to a Starbucks, might I add. If you love coffee as much as I do!

We had a two night stay here and it was nothing short of magnificent! We had the best dinner in the rooftop restaurant/bar area. Nicole was an attentive, delightful server. The breakfast up there was also phenomenal. Excellent place to stay in Kingston!! 👏🇯🇲😁

R Hotel is nice. It's across a big apartment complex. It's good if you're just looking for a place to stay for a few days or if you have business meetings to attend or if you're just looking for a place to have dinner. Plus most times they keep small parties. But it's not really a vacation spot.

The scenery and decorations in the lobby and rooftop were very nice. The elevators, lobby, and hallways in the hotel smelled lovely. Also, the customer service was great, they answered right away and provided you with what you need efficiently. The rooms are also kept clean and the AC worked great. The view on the balcony was beautiful. The food was good as well. Also, the pictures are true, it’s exactly what the hotel looked like. However, there were a few issues. For one, sometimes in the bathroom the vents smelled funky making the bathroom smell like sewer. The bed was rather firm not as soft as I would've liked it. It was a spring bed. The TV would have issues and would always disconnect from the signal so we’d have to call room service a few times. Also, there’s not a lot of channels available, screen mirroring is also only available for those with androids. The WiFi was decent but there were a few instances where we’d have to reconnect. At breakfast the food at the buffet table is usually cold, but the food that’s served to you is nice and hot. The pool on the rooftop isn’t really a pool, it’s more like a long lane of water that olympians swim back and forth in. Personal preference but I also feel like the hotel rooms could’ve been a little more homey and comfy. There’s a lot of white colors wish they incorporated some warmer colors in the room but other than that the hotel was good and the staff were friendly and nice.

First time back to JA in more than a decade. Spent 3 days at the R and I must say overall the staff and their attention to the word hospitality was excellent. Breakfast was thumbs up and again staff was amazing. Only downside for me is the location Of the pool!! It didnt make you want to just chill by the pool!! so no one used it.
