I
had
the
chance
to
do
the
Blue
Mountain
Coffee
Tour
while
in
Kingston
early
March.
The
experience
was
amazing,
and
Karen
was
a
great
tour
guide.
We
were
picked
up
at
our
hostel
in
New
Kingston
on
time,
and
had
a
wonderful
ride
through
town,
and
up
to
the
coffee
estate
in
the
Blue
Mountains
of
Jamaica.
Karen
was
helpful
in
pointing
out
local
foliage
and
wildlife,
as
well
as
giving
the
history
of
places
we
drove
past.
Arriving
to
the
estate
slightly
earlier
than
the
rest
of
the
tour,
Karen
was
kind
enough
to
show
us
around
the
property,
and
the
the
back
story
of
the
estate
and
it's
coffee
production.
The
tour
included
a
coffee
tasting
to
start,
and
a
briefing
on
the
beans,
farming
procedures,
exportation,
and
cultural
history.
After
this,
we
were
guided
up
the
mountain
trail,
making
several
stops
along
the
way.
The
gentleman
leading
this
portion
of
the
tour
was
very
knowledgeable
about
the
farming
practices
in
place,
the
cultivation
of
specific
coffee
species,
and
the
history
of
the
estates
owner.
After
reaching
the
top
of
the
estate,
we
were
able
to
see
several
workers
clearing
banana
leaves
for
the
next
crop.
At
the
end,
we
were
able
to
purchase
coffee
from
the
estate
(which
is
only
available
there,
and
in
Japan),
and
to
wonder
around
the
property
a
little
more,
before
Karen
drove
us
back
to
our
hostel
in
New
Kingston.
The
experience
was
amazing,
and
I
would
highly,
highly
recommend
it
when
you
have
the
opportunity.
