Jay’s Family is adorable and we even found local supporters from Lyon’s football team here! It is a all inclusive experience: if you want to go for a hike on the blue mountain peak or have a tour on a coffee plantation they will organize everything from transportation back and forth, dinners and excursion.

My stay at Jay’s Guesthouse in the Blue Mountains was the highlight of my trip to Jamaica. Jay is very responsive on WhatsApp and helps out with many things beyond just providing a bed. We met Jays family who are also very hospitable and make you feel at home there. The views are incredible and you can hike to the Blue Mountain Peak in about 3.5-4.5 hours from the guesthouse. I also want to address negative reviews that mention hidden costs/overpriced services. There were no hidden costs, you decide which services you will purchase. The $20 fee to enter the national park is not in the host’s control. The $15 dinner is very good and prepared fresh by the housekeeper, there is no chance you can buy a meal like this anywhere near the guesthouse in the mountains (but you can try if you want to avoid spending $15 on a great dinner). As I was traveling on a budget, I didn’t opt for other services such as a hiking guide or transportation from Kingston (took public transport to Mavis Bank and walked from there - takes half a day). The price of every service is stated before you buy it.

Jay takes great care of his guests! The food was excellent as was the coffee. The hiking route to the top of Blue Mountain Peak was straight forward albeit steep but that's why it's a special place. I drove to Mavis Bank in my rental car and got a ride up the rest of the way with Jay's friendly dad. The road was 25 minutes of jarring bumps and steep turns. Don't try the drive without good clearance and grippy tires. Everything about my three day trip to Jay's was magical.

This was our first stop in Jamaica after Kingston and we absolutely loved our stay at Jays Guest House. This is more than just a ho(s)tel, this is a true home stay and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by Jays family and friends. Jay organised transport for us from Kingston and onto Port Antonio (we were VERY glad we didn't attempt the drive ourselves), as well as the sunrise hike with a local guide which was just an incredible experience - we got very lucky with a clear sky at the peak. The homecooked food was some of the best we had in Jamaica and we loved seeing the running of the farm and guesthouse. It was truly a special 2 days and we were sad to leave. Thank you for everything!

Jay is very communicative and responsive via WhatsApp. He lets you know fees and activity options ahead of time, so you feel safe and clear of expectations. His family made us feel welcomed and appreciated. His mom Angela was so warm and always has a happy positive energy. Beautifully located with a great view of the blue mountain peak where guests can enjoy homemade breakfast on the big balcony facing the mountain. Highly recommend trying the homemade no sugar added sorrel and ginger juice with dinner, spiced oatmeal for breakfast and of course jay’s family’s own blue mountain coffee. A pleasure to stay and meet you all! :)

We love Jays! From the start we were flabbergasted at the beauty of this location but also by how friendly kind and caring The whole family was to us. Getting to the location is very difficult unless you have motorcycles like us so I suggest contacting jay to arrange transport. The food was fresh and cooked with love by the sweet Ms Sandra in the kitchen who not only cooked but also made fresh juices which was the highlight of the dinner. The coffee for breakfast was the absolute best coffee you’ll ever have and grown right outside the house and the beautiful coffee farm. Blue mountain coffee is the best in the world! Angela and her husband were very helpful, kind and patient we felt like they were our parents for our stay the way they cared for us. Truly amazing people and I can’t say enough good things about them. This is a great getaway for couples tamiles or even solo travelers. Safe and comfortable. The rooms are super clean and comfortable with cozy blankets and due to being located in the hills there’s no need for AC and yet it’s not too cold. Perfect climate and so peaceful at night. The veranda has an incredible view and seating to relax and maybe even enjoy some locally grown herbs as the sun sets. I recommend this because wow, it was such a vibe. WE WILL BE BACK. My boyfriend and I even discussed getting married here since it’s just such an amazing view and peaceful environment. This would be great for weddings or honeymoons especially for nature lovers and those who like to get a real country experience apart from the regular tourist attractions. 10/10 recommended:) Thank you Jay!

High Prices and services on the bill nobody asked for. All in all feels like scam. And they were bringing us stuff we didn’t order and than had to pay. That’s not the way it should work! What we actually paid: 120$ for picking us up and bringing back from/to Mavis Bank 40$pp for a Bed (120$) 45$ for Diner for something like Jerk Chicken Menu (everywhere else it would cost around 15$) 9$ for juice we didn’t ask for Everybody just need to know this and can choose if it’s worth it.

I have had an amazing time in the mountains. It’s nice and quiet, the view is amazing and miss Donnet is a really good cook. You are really taken care of. The coffee is also really good!

Jay organised transport from Kingston to the guest house as it is off of the beaten track. This place is incredible, the hospitality, the options to go hiking, see the coffee farm or just chill and listen to the birds. The food prepared by Mrs. Jackson was so tasty, all prepared ‘off the fat of the land’. Chicken, banana, coffee, avocado, mango & cherry all used to prepare your meals and drinks is from the farm. Can’t recommend the place anymore, thank you to the Jackson family & Lamar for hosting me. Henry

Maybe the kindest people in Jamaica. Mrs Jacksons smile and laugh was a special highlight for us. Very authentic experience. The house was nice and clean. The guesthouse arranged a tour to the summit of blue mountain with sunrise and we had a great trip. The food was good and was made of local and traditional Jamaican crops.

The Guest House has wonderful views on the Blue Mountains. This is the real Jamaican experience. We visited the farm and enjoyed the fresh fruits straight from the trees. You are treated as family, food is also delicious. Highly recommended

I stayed here 10 days and was helping with the coffee harvesting. I had a really good time there and Ms. Jackson cooks amazing food!

Went to Jays Guesthouse and had an amazing time and experience. My birthday holiday could not have gone any better. Jays family and friends were very kind. I climbed to the peak, visited the coffee fields and so much more. The hike from here is closer to the peak but still a few hours hike. Jay is easy to talk to so do don’t hesitate to contact him about accommodations or other details. I highly recommend a visit to Jays Guest house in the Blue Mountains. I will return!

Very professional and hospitable staff. The location is perfect for hiking the peak and meals were scrumptious. Definitely recommended.

Jay, and everyone that we interacted with, was very accomodating, kind and courteous. His listing was also exactly as described- neat, cozy and close to the trail peak. He also assists with pickups and dropoffs to mavis bank and the trail peak in a heartbeat and considerately tailors the experience to his guests' desires. The novel Jay and Hercules brand also makes amazing coffee! Definitely a must- tay to enjoy Jamaica's beautiful mountains.

Jay and his family are so welcoming. Was a little worried leaving the “corridor” but so very glad we did. Left our resort in Montego Bay to spend some time in the Blue Mountains and do the night hike to the peak to catch the sunrise with Jay’s cousin as our guide. We got a chance to eat some home-cooked, authentic Jamaican meals, meet many of Jay’s friends and family, eat some chicken feet soup (better than it sounds!), and all around have a far less-touristy experience and really get to know Jamaica and its people. Jay’s house is in an amazingly beautiful spot. Views are gorgeous and the area is peaceful and secluded. The bathroom is separate from the rooms, but has very fast WiFi and power. Definitely don’t take your rental car up there, take him up on the ride. We got a ride from Jay in Kingston. There was a landslide that makes the midpoint town halfway up the mountain hard to reach. Looking back on it, driving there would have been a challenge in a foreign place. If you’re looking for a posh resort experience, this isn’t for you. But if you want to learn what life is like in a small coffee farming villiage on this island, look no further.

ome of the most amazing food I’ve ever had in good portions too! Great people and everything was really clean. Enjoyed the clear water on the river tour and the hike to the peak was a unique experience.

The location is not good if you want to hike to the peak. The guesthouse isn't nice and the staff didn't speak to me. For Beakfast I got only two eggs and beans. Also 60$ for the transport is way to high! You can easy hike the Farm Hill Trail to go there!

I chose Jays Guest House as the spot for my family to stay overnight for my Blue Mountain hike and he didn’t disappoint. He put together and itemize the entire package for me. Communication was great during the planning stages so the only surprise when we arrived was how much nicer the place was than the photos captured. Our driver was waiting at Mavis Bank when we arrived which is a big deal when you are in a new environment. Once we arrived , everyone was overwhelmed with the breath taking views from our wrap around balcony. Dinner was ready as ordered prior to our arrival ( delicious). The price was very reasonable compared to what we paid elsewhere and taste so much better. Jays mom and her assistant were great. Rooms was clean and comfortable. Our guide for the hike Lamoy was on the quiet side but attentive, patient, and answered all our questions. Everyone in my group was happy which is a big deal when I’m the organizer. Thank you Jay.

The welcome and hospitality was unmatched. Ms Angela was upbeat, attentive and thoughtful. The food was delicious for both dinner ( I had the Vegetarian meal) and breakfast. The views are stunning from the deck at Jay’s House II. And most noticeably, the communication was excellent: from inquiry to booking, throughout the experiences to final drop off. All of the activities were on time, from my pick up in Kingston to the start of the tour. I really appreciated that.
