My experience is in line with many of the the reviewers. It doesn’t matter whether you are the only one in the waiting area or 1 of many, the wait will be extremely long. I have been sitting for over an hr and was 1 of 2 patients waiting. There is a congregation of nurses at the registration desk and even as i type I am yet to see any sign of seeing a doctor any time soon. When i arrived I was 1 of 2 and it is safe to say they have seen 1 patient thus far and i am still sitting looking. I suspect they are waiting to have critical mass but either way i might just be here till 8pm and i got here approximately 2:15pm. This is the norm. The patient has emerged and is back in the wait area. No sign of a doctor, not a word from any of the nurses. The crowd of nurses has been dispersed but occasionally a nurse waltzes by. This is the norm.

Medical Associates is one of the better private hospitals in Kingston/ St. Andrew. The entity can be accessed via HWT Road or Ruthven Road. Service is good for the most part. There are some nurses that need a bit more compassion. Place under some restorative works. All treatments have to be paid for up front, or a deposit made, even if you have a health card. Pharmacy is not 24 hours. I was screened by a nurse almost immediately after arriving there. However, on the change of shift, one of the nurses hardly checked-in, unless someone goes to her. The Doctor was thorough.

Extremely long wait time, zero empathy from nurse and staff irrespective of the severity of your situation, zero professionalism.... they will only muster the energy to drag their feet to look at you after you hand over your credit card, for them to do with whatever they may. Seems like anyone can call themself a nurse or doctor nowadays and work at this place. The less people skills you have, the higher your chances of employment. It’s unfortunate that google doesn’t allow a zero star rating because that’s what I would really like to give them. If you’re having a medical emergency, please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else... anywhere else or perhaps even stay home... you will have a better chance of surviving and at the end of it all, at least some money left in your pocket.

Whilst the care provided to my mom recently was reasonably satisfactory, I could not help but observe a couple of operational deficiencies, as follows: a. Patient privacy appears not to be center and front of patient care; triage is conducted in open space and within earshot of other patients and support relatives. b. Disparate service delivery can easily lead to cost confusion e.g. having been given an initial bill to settle, only to be told that blood test is a separate service and must be settled within a different department. I also found the practice of handing the blood vials to patients/ relatives to take to the lab a strange one! c. I happened to have needed to use the restroom and came across a notice asking that sanitary napkins not be disposed of within the toilet bowl, yet, a sanitary disposal unit was not visibly present, again, a very peculiar practice/request.

The guy in the registration room that works the night shift is very rude and lack professionalism. They need to fire him because for that single reason I will never come back to this hospital !! No wonder Jamaica can’t get better with people like this working along side decent people. He needs to be picking up garbage somewhere on the road side. They are like dogs there !!

Trying to get information from A&E is a joke. Persons answer the phone says hello then proceed to talk to someone else without even telling me one moment. Secondly, get through to another person and before I could explain my issue I was placed on hold.

Went there 1 o clock this morning and they were like slugs moving . It was as if I had bothered themπŸ˜•.. I wasn’t even given a proper diagnosis. $24,000 in total ( X-ray) all just to hear oh MAYBE it’s *** . There’s no compassion or respect.

The Nurses at the accidents and emergency section is very rude and they speak to persons in a condescending tone. They do not want you to ask any questions and if you do you can feel that they are annoyed. They are very slow and act as if you are beggng them. This is especially the case if you are not high colored.

I would first like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff who took care of my husband while he had his first surgery. You all made the experience a good one. Special acknowledgment to Nurse Stevens, Nurse Parchment, Nurse Lafray and Miss Wilson keep up the good work.

Absolutely disgraceful hospital. Do NOT go there if you have an emergency. My family member is at the ER with a life threatening emergency and has been waiting HOURS and yet to see a doctor. Do you not know what the "emergency" in "emergency room" means? How many people have died from your negligence?

Excellent hospital and staff. When my dear mum had a stroke, they acted swiftly, efficiently and effectively. This was on a private basis and overall, very good value for money. I've trusted no other hospital with my mum after having bad encounters with UWI. Definitely wouldn't recommend attending without medical insurance albeit, they do provide a reasonable grace period in emergencies.

My review was based on a visit to the Lab for annual blood work, My brother a stroke patient was asked when was his last meal and what it consisted of he incorrectly told them a chicken sandwich and was rightfully refused the fasting test I interjected to remind him that he had stewed peas with rice. I explained to the tech his misunderstanding of the time and meals, it went downhill from there. He is not senile she said and have to take what the patient says I told her he is a stroke patient and I prepare his meals and knew of the 10 -14 hr fasting requirements since doing this since 2019 she continued in her condescending and admonishing tone relenting that she will instruct the process be done but she will write chicken sandwich on the report as the last meal. The redeeming stars in the review was that a different tech came and did the draw and was pleasant and understanding. I really don't know how these people retain jobs dealing with the public. Just listen and understand. Be firm but kind and don't seek to punish. There in lies one of the problems with Jamaica today.

Insane wait time during the day even with an appointment. Sometimes there is only 1 doctor available. Hopefully the new owners will make some changes. If seeing a doc by appointment and you want to a avoid long wait times, see the night duty doc instead [the 10/11pm shift].

Terrible experience, came in suffering from debilitating vomiting and diarrhea and it took over an hour to see a doctor, during that time I was suffering from muscle cramps and pains and the nurses were no help whatsoever πŸ‘Ž finally saw the doctor and she started questioning me while I was having severe muscle cramps in my legs without atleast helping me to relax it first πŸ€¦πŸΎβ€β™‚οΈ

Took an someone here who was wheezing and having breathing issues due to the poor air quality we have been experiencing. After waiting an hour and half, I went to the nurse to enquire why she had not been seen as yet. Only to be told they had no nebuliser to treat her and she (the nurse) would have to speak to doctor as to way forwarder. The nurse returns to advise that they will have to refund me and we would need to go elsewhere. There was zero remorse or empathy nor acknowledging the fact we wasted valuable treatment time and if I had not gone to them and enquired why the wait was so long they would not have given us an update at that point. God knows I expected better.

I’m not quite sure how a hospital never has any doctors available. If I went with a fatal infection, I’d die before even seeing the receptionist. A private hospital should not be providing worse care than the underfunded pubic alternatives while still charging an arm and a leg (which they would let necrose before noticing that I was in the waiting room). Never again. tl;dr: IF YOU HAVE ANY EMERGENCIES GO LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. might have better luck going to med school and learning how to treat your ailment yourself because you’d still finish before you get to see a doctor (much less get treated/diagnosed)

πŸ‘ Only issue I had is the long wait. I went there 3 times for ultrasound. I think the price is now 4500 or 5000. The ultrasound technician was processional and welcoming. The place was clean. Also wish there was more space there to wait.
