The one bedroom villas are so worth it. Really large dining area, with kitchenette and Living room space and a separate bedroom. I would recommend taking your food and making it there or exploring the parish for great dining options. We enjoyed Great huts (for dinner) and Geejam. Also the kfc and the local jerk men at Boston jerk.

Beautiful beach, with an adjoining river. Such a peaceful spot. If you want a getaway to just free your mind in the beauty of nature, this is the place for you. The food is also A-class. I had the fried fish with festival, highly recommend.

This is a beautiful River/Beach. It’s great for an intimate trip or to travel as a group. It’s great for photos! They had a nice bathroom area, you don’t find many beaches with a proper facility so I was surprised. The food was not bad, I ordered burger and fries. The burger gave me reggae jammins vibe. Overall I enjoyed our group trip here.

Very nice property but it is extremely old and needs a little renovation.... the beach is literally the best in the country... overall it was a great experience. Great friends and great vibesπŸ™Œ

I didn't visit the resort I went to Frenchman Cove Beach. There is a river that's there, the water comes from the sea but it's not as salty. It's cool, clean, the swings are awesome, it's picturesque and doesn't leave your skin prickly and pickled. I went there in Feb 2023 admission is $1500 and to rent a lounge chair is $300. The lifeguards are cool, money spent is completely worth it. Also they open at 9.

I did not go to the resort, only the beach recently. The river and sea combined were awesome. What wasn't so awesome was the hamburgers and hotdogs. The staff in the kitchen were overwhelmed with trying to keep up with serving food on a timely basis to people who came to the beach. The bathroom and changing area definitely not designed to handle the kind of crowd I experienced this Sunday gone June 26th.

Service was a bit slow. The cost is $1800 JMD to get in but the beach is very pristine and there is a cold water bath lake as well. The chair rentals are also available. Definitely a nice relaxing day to spend the day.

the hotel is not the best but the location is well worth the it. just go with your own soap and coffee and you will have a great time. due to the road to the hotel there is not much open for food to eat but go to Boston there are places to eat and although they look run down the food is very good and the people are so so nice

French man cove (the beach) is very exotic and beautiful! Has life guards, a restauraunt and a cool river which flows into the sea. However, people are disgruntled by the fact that despite paying an entrance fee, you are some what restricted from doing so much things namely: No MUSIC NO GAMES AND YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE ANY FOOD/ DRINK INSIDE, etc.........NOT A GOOD LOOK MAN! I have taken many trips to the beach because of it's beauty and invited a few persons who didn't knew of it But upon seeing all the Rules they vowed not to return.

I've been coming here for years. I guess due to social media the popularity of thia place grew so going on weekends, during the summer and holiday will for sure mean crowds of people. If you come during off season and during the week (minus summer time), this place is peaceful and magical.

Frenchmans cove is absolutely beautiful and refreshing. I loved that it had a river and a beach. The beach can get a tad rough but it's absolutely safe and fun. Matter of fact that's what a lot of the beach goers loved. If that's not your speed then the river is Nice and lazy. Would recommend it any day. What I wouldn't ever recommend is staying at their accommodations. We went in July for a 2 night stay and there was a dead roach right by the entrance which absolutely ruined it for me. Plus it was there for the entire length of stay. Terrible experience. The rooms are very meh. The hot water works well, the ac and fan didn't. There was no TV in the rooms. Data was spotty. Truly it's the beach that gives it such a high rating

We just went for the beach which is beautiful. You can rent loungers. There is beer at a reasonable price but I would suggest eating before or after a beach visit as our group of 4 were disappointed with one exception. Jerk chicken was good but the fish, chicken and beef sandwiches were prepressed hockey pucks.

I only visited the beach but it was a great experience. For locals, its a really long and tedious drive to get there but I think the view and beach makes up for it a bit. The workers were also courteous and the environment was nice and quiet.

Lovely place for a family picnic. Scenery is great and the water is relaxing. You splash in the sea and then wash off in the river. The food is yummy.

Frenchman's Cove was a great experience.πŸ‘Œ πŸ‘πŸΌ Only visited the beach but did not stay at the resort. From the soft white sand to the clear water on the river side, different colors of blue on the ocean side and πŸ˜‹ food & drink items. The only down side on this Sunday when we visited in January was the roughness of the waves and what looked like debris in the ocean side, but, this didn't stop people from going in the water and having a good time. Being served on the beach was a definite upside and enjoyable experience. Will definitely return to this spot.

We weren't staying there, but we only went there for a half-day trip. Beautiful place, but very overpriced... 1500 JMD / person... You enter it through a guarded entrance, you go through a beautiful park... It was interesting to throw yourself into the waves in the bay... Excellent place for beautiful photos and videos.. .

By this time I forgot how may times I visited this attraction. It's always a beautiful scenery and a breath of fresh air. If you like where the river meets the sea, then Frenchmans Cove is the place to be, Trust mee!

Unfortunately my visit to this idyllic spot was for the sole purpose of going their beach so I am unable to share any feedback on their accomodations and our interaction with their team was limited to the parking area. That being said, when you come across reviews that say that this beach is one of the most beautiful in Jamaica, they are not lying. Mind you, the parking lot is a distance from the beach but I tell myself the trek was worth. Be prepared with cash beforehand, as there is limited to no use of POS and with food not being allowed unto the property, be prepared to make your purchases from their Grill. Beach chairs available at a cost and it is recommended that you get there early for the best spots. Although I gave a perfect score, there were two areas of mention- water management on the property needs to be improved as well as the sand is finer than usual so be cognizant that it will be difficult to remove whether from your person or personal items. Other than that... amazing spot for a day trip with friends.

Although the waves were rough today the beach was enjoyable and the river was nice. The grounds also had a botanical feel and was scenic.

The rooms are a little outdated and need a deep cleaning; but for the price and vibe it's worth it. Just a lil sprucing needed. The grill on the beach (which is run independently) however, hmmm, the service wasn't great, the food is subpar and the gentlemen sorting out the beach chairs straight up lied a few times to try and scam us into paying more than what was needed for the amount of chairs we had. Giovanni, a lifeguard, was far more helpful and respectful. A waiter also forgot an order from us to give some white tourists a tour. No apology, no food or drink, just an 'oh had to do a tour' then walked away.

Went on a staff trip and we all felt as if we were trespassing even though reservations and payment were paid. It was raining and we were told to disembark outside the property. We had to rent the.lounge chairs but due to the heavy down pour fun wasn't possible. We stayed but was disappointed that there wasn't even an offer of tent for shelter πŸ˜•. Food is not allowed yet the food provided was tasteless and took time to be served. I definitely won't be back.

The A/C isn't working, the fan can’t regulate speed, the kettle doesn't work, the glass sliding door of the balcony won’t lock, plus there is NO telephone can calling customer service and NO television, I feel like I've gone back half a century, even there is strange smelling from bathroom at night, a smell of decay. HERE IS THE POINT, 2 people only in one room, you have to book 2 rooms if you have a little kid in your family, their manager said β€œI don’t care about how does your 3 people family to stay, kid stays with Mom or Dad or alone, anyway you have to separate in to 2 different rooms.”this is a strange idea that I have never heard before. And they have a false message: the price include breakfast. Unfortunately, there is NO any breakfast, bring something to eat with you or you will start new day with hungry.

I love Frenchman's Cove, the water is beautiful and the river is right there with cool water. The food sold at the beach is also pretty good!! very relaxing!!

Tasty food, great scenery. The water is clear and cool, the sand is soft. My only negative about the place is that they should invest more effort into the cleanliness of the restroom facilities. The bathrooms seem old, and are stained and have an odor and therefore gives the impression they're not cleaned often enough.

Love Frenchmans Cove Resort, been visiting since 2003 I've started in the Villa and the hotel. The property and rooms definitely needs better maintenance. But the beach is breath taking! Follow my ig _Teeze_

Lovely beach, clean and peaceful. Relatively small though. But great to get in touch with nature. I would go back. Customer service was ok. I didn't try their food so can't comment on that. The restroom (specifically the female restroom) needs revision though. The door to one of the stalls was right next to the main entrance which made it difficult to exit.

It was great. Stayed here with a work group and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were small but comfy, clean and air conditioned. They had a nice lounge area where we played games and a beautiful lawn. The ambiance was great. My favorite place was the balcony overlooking the lawn and the glass bathroom. Definitely making another trip hear and it’s just a little walk to get to the beach so it was well worth it.

This is a beautiful getaway spot for some sun and relaxation. The River meets the see and creates a great little spot for taking photos. I'd definitely go back with my family whenever we're in Portland again

  • 3/5 Anything E. 1 year ago on Google
Only a few years back I would have given this place a 5 easily, but I'm not sure what's happening. The location is great; the beach is probably the best in Portland, and the property is breathtaking. Mother nature at its best. However, the maintenance of the rooms have been falling, which is sad as the cottages are of wonderful architectural designs, with lovely carved stone walls and very spacious overall designs. There is a restaurant on the property by the beach (which is not operated by Frenchman's Cove), the food is ok but is very pricey. With all the disappointing notes, this is a place of choice for me and it will always have me coming back..... Great place for some alone time too , as it is peaceful and relaxing.

Lovely beach. Wonderful river. The environment was clean. Food is gonna take you some time so order early. The road to get there is at its worst currently, so prepare for a little delay.

Too good to be true. Another version of Jamaica is not a real place. Has both a river with fishes, and a cove. It also has guests houses to stay which are reasonably priced as well as a restaurant on the beach. They also seem to allow individuals to book events like parties and weddings. My only disappointment was the road to get there. Very bad. But everything else was perfect. Along that stretch of bad road there are several other attractions. Also visited Boston Jerk Centre which is just down the road from it.
