I have not been to this temple, but I will be visiting Jamaica after 36 years and I would love to visit this spiritual and historical place. What a testimony to victory over adversity and the ability of the Jewish people to take their light and hope where ever they go. Hopefully with a new rabbi there will be a beautiful revival in that hallowed space. Why not Jamaica has 2 million people and many are more connected to the Jewish people than they know. With a Christian majority there was a famous one called Jesus.. Take care Rabbi and keep doing what you do!!

Shaare Shalom is Jamaica’s only synagogue which was built in 1911. Being the country's only remaining Synagogue, they welcome Orthodox, Reformed and Convert Jews. You can organize a private tour, which comes with a Tour Guide for 5 to 20 people, just call ahead to book it. The hall houses a gift shop and the history of the Jamaican Jews, from Christopher Columbus to present day.

Our sweet Jamaican history. Our motto - Out of many one people Our historians have told the story. Sha'are Shalom built on Duke Street in the traditional Sephardic style in 1912. It is noted as the only synagogue in Jamaica. Please hurry and add to your listings.

Fails to address the prominent role of Jews in the slave trade. That is shameful and dishonest.

I can't believe I am just now visiting this historical Jewish site. I learned a lot from the guides and it was very interesting to see and learn more about the Jewish/ Judaism and how they worship. All very intricate. The site itself is all still quaint but in it maintained in this fashion for posterity and authenticity.

Beautiful. Parking is a little hard to find though. Parking space accessible from a little alley on the back end of the church.

👍👍 Always leave here with market bags of fresh vegetables, ground provision and fruits. I walk and compare prices and freshness, I have a couple stalls that I always stop at to get the necessary produce, all in all a good stroll among stalls of fresh produce and different characters as they beckon you...

😐 Having gone to St. George's College we were encouraged (or rather made) to go to mass at this church. Structurally this was a excellent structure and always seemed so big. It had an organ at the back and somehow seemed a bit dark and had an 'old smell'. All in the all it was a good experience for me...
