An awesome experience. At this rum tour to your list. Cost is $2500 for locals. Ensure you eat before going because you’ll be offered a complimentary drink and do rum sampling. You see the different process of the rum making. Taste molasses and get sugar cane. The staff is very hospitable and there is a restaurant on the property. You’ll also get a free mini appleton estate rum

Totally amazing distillery - the drive is worth it! Great tours and friendly, knowledgeable tour staff. The free samples and welcome drink make it even more worthwhile!

Prepare to have a wonderful time. The staff is friendly, exuberant even. Have a full meal before you go if you wish to imbibe as you'll be offered a complimentary drink while you wait on your tour (remember to tip). You'll learn about the harvesting, pressing, animals, distilling, aging, flavor notes , storage etc. During the tour you'll walk the grounds indoors and out, upstairs and down. You'll sample cane, rum of different ages, molasses etc. This is truly an enjoyable experience. There's an upscale restaurant on site and a lovely gift shoppe. It's difficult to find the aged rum unless you purchase it here. (Only signature and 8 are at the airport duty free) If you're a JA resident remember your ID for a discount.

It's better than i expected. It was a nice and different experience than a normal exertion or outing. The staff was pleasant from the front desk to the bar tenders and restaurant servers. I can't speak for all tour guides, but the guide for our group was bubbly and made our tour interactive and interesting. So, job well done to Kaydene, our very effervescent guide...overall its value for money, and worth the long journey.

I was impressed with the welcome area; I liked the hotel-like ambience. I also liked the friendliness of the staff. The welcome drinks were good, and the property is very well-keptn giving you a lot of photo opportunities. I also liked that there were samples on the tour. My only disappointment is that the restaurant had closed by the time our tour had finished, so I never got the dining experience. The tour was educational, informative, and fun.

The grounds are very well kept and the reception area was quite welcoming. After signing the waiver and paying admission, we had welcome drinks and those were good. Our guide Tiffany was well rounded and patient with the group. The tour was educational, funny and delightful As a rum drinker, learning about the history of the best Jamaican rum and seeing some of the mechanics of it all was truly amazing. Edutainment 10/10 A time very well spent Would highly recommend

Such a great experience. If you have the chance to go to Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios you definitely should. I did the dolphin encounter and the shark encounter. The instructors are very friendly and informative. They also had stingrays but I did not have enough time when I was there to get into the water and encounter them. The area has beautiful beaches and views from the pool. The nature trail has many birds you can hold and feed and an iguana also. Definitely a great experience all together. Would recommend. If I ever get to go back I'll go the dolphin swim. I would also like to add that all of the dolphins and the 3 nurse sharks are rescued, they have all sustained injuries from other animals or boats. All the animals seem to be treated well and taken care of. This to me says a lot. I hate to see animals in captivity or treated poorly.

Amazing experience!! I would highly recommend the Royal Swim!! The swim was incredible. The staff is Amazing also! Fletcher was the extremely knowledgeable trainer and he made sure that we had fun and got as many dolphin interactions as we could fit into the 40 minutes. Thank you to all of the staff at Dolphin Cove for making our experience a memorable one!!! I will be back!

Great tour off the beaten path. Here you can learn about the art of rum make from beginning to end. Complimentary drinks upon entry…the one with ginger is ridiculously delicious! Tastings are included too! Very informative and knowledgeable staff. Beautiful picturesque grounds. It’s rum heaven!

This tour really is amazing. The whole setup is very professional and immaculate. The setting is perfect and the tour is extremely interesting and informative. The rum tasting is a nice touch and the gift shop is extensive and sensibly priced. Highly recommended for anyone but especially rum lovers!

They won't give you a refund, even when you have email documentation from their customer service saying you will get a refund and you cancel several months before the planned day. There is no way to get your money back unless you take them to Jamaican civil court and hire a local lawyer (who cost several hundreds) to serve as your proxy. Once you give them your money for an encounter you will never see it again if you cancel like we did because of Covid 19. We canceled with several months notice and provided all documentation, had customer service say we would get a refund, and now they won't answer any emails about it. With Covid 19 and other uncertainties dont book with them. They will keep your hard earned money if you have to cancel your plans. Very bad business practices.

The tour is very informative and interactive, giving you some deep history into how the Estate came to be. Upon finishing the tour you are given a bottle, smaller than a flask, of Appleton Rum. So whether you be a rum lover or not you will enjoy this tour and learn a bundle. What I say I learned for sure is that sugar cane is a very versatile plant; making from molasses to particle board.

Beautiful Estate with wonderful tour of the rum processing and distillery and lunch. Rum tasting and relaxing views. Also peacocks roaming the estate and gorgeous flowers Getting there is a rough mountain road trip but worth the effort if you have the time and patience.

Difficult to get to but we’ll worth it! Such a classy, beautiful and informative tour. Great to learn about the process of rum making- and feeling involved in the process with sugarcane tasting, water, molasses till finally- the rum. I’m not a drinker but I had fun eating the sugarcane. Beautiful property too and guide was super informative.

This was a wonderfully well done, multi-dimensional experience into the history and production of rum. While the nature of triangular trade and slavery were not included, take it for what it is and enjoy the excellent work of these people today.

If you are in Jamaica and you love rum and you want to know the history of the rum being made in Jamaica 🇯🇲 this is the place to go. They will break down the process of how it's made to the final product the rum. You will be able to sample the basic rum which is very strong to the finest 12 year old rum which is really strong but so smooth which they produce. Once you have completed the tour you can buy the rum which is ONLY sold there, you won’t find the 32-year-old rum which is a limited edition which is worth a bit of money once it leaves the Estate because it's a limited amount of bottles made. A well worth visit.

The rum is outstanding. Our guide, Shamoy was amazing. We had lunch at the restaurant and the food was really good. The cocktail at the bar was so good. Our group was large with 16 guests, and we were treated as if we were the most important people in the world. Friends got engaged at Appleton and the staff gave them a reserve bottle to commemorate the engagement. The drive was adventurous as it is driving in Jamaica's mountains. We have a great driver from Juta.

Our driver Marvin and tour guide Tia was great! The ride up in the mountains was a truly thrill ride...respect to Marvin who kept us safe on these crazy roads and Tia told us a lot about the island and his people. At the Estate we was greeted with a rum punch. Then tour guide Danielle took over she did an amazing job telling us all about the distillery, tasted sugar can, molasses and of course did a rum tasting. Ended the tour with some delicious authentic Jamaican food.

The tour was fun! Lots of information learned on the history and making of rum. I enjoyed extracting cane juice, the old-fashioned way, and tasting the molasses. The rum tasting was the highlight for me! Lunch at the restaurant tasted good and reasonably priced.

Fabulous! Excellent tour and lovely rum. Wherever you’re staying in Jamaica you’re almost certainly an hour or more away from the estate, down lumpy roads, but even if it’s 2+ hours it’s worth the journey.

This is a must-do in Jamaica for anyone who is a history buff, an outdoor lover, or a rum fanatic. The tour of this facility is informative from their history of the plantation to the production of their famous rum. The tour ends with rum sampling and an explanation of their products. Also the ride to the location is a lot of fun since it is up a mountain.

The design of the estate is immaculate. It almost feels like you're at a hotel in the ticketing and dining area. Love that the estate has a restaurant as I am a foodie. Follow me on Instagram @jamaican.foodie. Love the incorporation of animals (donkey, peacocks) on the tour. Love that there are directional signs along to route that guides you to the attraction.

Both the dolphin encounter and swim are incredible experiences. Friendly trainers and beautiful location. Just be prepared that you can't take your own pictures and the pictures are WAY overpriced: $79/person for five pictures!

  • 4/5 Trudy A. 3 years ago on Google
The dolphin encounter, kayaking, the slides, the pool was awesome. Be prepared to pay a fee for a locker to keep ur stuff, this fee is not included in the package. Also when u take pics with the dolphins there is a cost for u to get them which is only digital copies sent to ur phone or email. The minimum fee for pictures is 70 USD for 1 person..

Overall the experience lasted about 20 min while you wait for everyone to get a turn it starts taking a long time then the instructors aren’t as friendly as you would think they were super rude to a couple before us, the pictures were super expensive then they try to lower the price significantly if you say no

  • 5/5 demzak 3 years ago on Google
Kids love that place. Could be more attracted if you go down with a price. It is pandemic not so many people, coming. $ 49 just to walk around ,general admission $150 and $170 to swim with dolphins. Rip off. Trainers should be more compensated for their job. Every one demands gratitude, it is became annoying.

The experience was wonderful. They curated a "Jamaican Resident" package for a pretty cheap cost until end of Oct. My issue was the $30 charge for pictures that you could only probably get 4 good ones out of. A charge of 500 per picture as Mystic Mountain goes would have been better. No one wants 5 of the same shots.

I went on this tour twice, once with my friends and the other with my parents. Both were amazing. The tour includes tasting alcohol (clearly) however you learn alot about our culture as well. The tour guides are knowledgeable and entertaining. The reason I didn't give it a 5 was not because of the tour but because of a bag I bought in the gift shop. It's a large Appleton bag but the leather straps are shedding and making a mess of the bag and everything else.

The Appleton Estate Tour was nothing short of amazing. Let me first start by saying they take sanitization to another level here. Everywhere you turn you are required to sanitize and I appreciate that during these times of Covid. The tour guide took us on a journey starting with the video on the history of the estate, then a visual of how they used donkeys long ago to extract the cane juice, we were also able to sample sugar can and taste pure molasses. The next stop was the actual top secret factory (no photos allowed inside) where all the magic happens, then a tour of all the barrels and ending with a rum tasting and chocolate paring. They give all guests a little bottle of rum and I received a bigger bottle because it was may Birthday :). I would highly add this tour to your bucket list. ***Note: Be sure to ask your guide how far out the factory is from your hotel at it was about a 2 1/2 hour scenic journey from Negril but well worth it.

It was such an intriguing, enlightening and fascinating tour. First off the lounge area <waiting space> is very beautiful and luxurious. you're greeted and offered rum punch which is a great start to an awesome tour. you then make your way to a lil theater which gives you the history of rum. You taste molasses, eat sugar cane and know all the secret to how rum is processed, fermented etc. Highly recommend and even though Covid is about the proper protocols are maintained. 🎉🥃 Highly recommend to all. Btw it's in St.Elizabeth which is a long drive from Negril end but worth it 😊

Amazing tour, much better than expected. Our guide Rasia was amazing, so personable and gave us so much insight into the world of Rum! A great day out and we loved trying the rum, especially enjoyed the welcome cocktail!

Tiffany our tour guide was wonderful. It was very educational and interesting to learn how rum is made. But the best part was the rum punch we received at the start of the tour, and the rum flight at end of the tour. Yum!!🇯🇲

Been here more than once and I can tell you that you have to go there to experience it for yourself. The tour guides are amazing, the place has a unique personality and energy and the story behind Appleton Rum's origins and production is fascinating!

An absolute must do and in particular if you are Jamaican. The drive from Kingston is roughly 2 1/2 hours but goes by pretty quickly😊. Upon arrival you are asked to select ur choice of cocktail followed by the well delivered tour; ours was done by Rasia who most pleasant and knowledgeable. You also get to meet Paz, the resident donkey who is an attraction in and of himself....go and you'll find out why😁. Definitely recommended and the scenery is just awesome with all the lush vegetation.

Overall it was a really good tour. We had to wait a bit for our tour to start but the rum punches they offered were really good and helped us relax. Beautiful and clean environment, COVID protocol in place, nice staff however I didn’t like that because I had a foreign ID, they wanted to charge me $1500 more for my ticket. Our tour guide was the best! She was very clear and informative as we went through the tour. I would definitely visit again.

This place is excellent. 100% percent in customer service, professionalism and tour experience. Can you say value for money! Peter is the best tour guide ever. Their gift shop has the best prices on rum for those who drink. The Appleton Tour is worth every cent.

This is a must when you visit Jamica. Lovely staff and very informative. Taste three rums at the end under expert guidance.

  • 4/5 Deveisha W. 2 years ago on Google
It covers mostly historical process and tasting. I wish it also covered more about other aspects like blending, operations, and what makes Appleton unique. Secondly I was expecting a longer tour more with a little more details. Maybe a drive on a buggy to see the cane and the limestone water that is crucial for making the product also would like seeing the scorching of the barrels. The ambiance of the establishment is top tier! The bathrooms have up to date technology and were really clean! The staff were also well attired! 👌 Got there late so didn’t get to eat lunch 😩 Good experience non the less.

Great experience. The tour is very thoughtful. Several pleasant surprises. I will not say any that is interesting. The guide is knowledgeable enough. We had a number of specific questions that could not be answered immediately, contacted the specialists and found out. I recommend to everyone. Local store prices are much lower than in the city.

  • 5/5 Ashley M. 2 years ago on Google
This was an excellent tour with great information on this history and process. Our guide, Priscilla, was very knowledgeable and was able to answer almost every random question the group could throw at her. The rum was great. I went as apart of a full day of experiences provided through Chukka tours. They provided lunch here as well as a tour and tasting.

First time in Jamaica, as a rhum drinker, love my first experience to visit a distillery and understand all the processing steps. We had a great guide and very patient with the whole group. The place was beautiful, amazing buildings, very safe for everyone. I left one star off of the cleanness of the bathrooms . Beside that I recommend to everyone this incredible site.

A fantastic experience learning about and drinking some of the finest rums in the world while receiving a history lesson which includes the first female master blender in regards to the alcohol industry. So if you wish to have a great opportunity to sample Jamaican rum at its finest then go on the Appleton Rum Tour.

Spent the day enjoying the ambiance and putrid scent of the Appleton Estate Rum Factory. Great experience for friends, family or just you and your partner. Love the vibes, the staff and of course pretty Priscilla... A+ Day well spent - the 12 year old is one of the smoothest rum I've tasted in a while. Thanks

History, Jamaican Rum and Vibes. Exploring and learning about one of the world's finest rum was relaxing fun. On this scenic journey there are breathtaking views of the fields that makes this all possible. The weather is guaranteed to rain, but that doesn't dampen the mood or stop the tour. The tour guides are phenomenal, knowledgeable and rep the brand well.

When visiting Treasure Beach we took the rum tour. It was informative and entertaining! The complimentary Rum Punch & Stormy Valley were tasty. I enjoyed the tasting with ingredients and explanations. The tour included the history and tasting of the sugar cane and molasses. When I have others visit Jamaica I plan to attend again.

Amazing amazing amazing tour! It was well organized and informative. The tour guides Peter and Romaine were phenomenal. The entire staff from the minute you are entering the gate to when you are exiting are so friendly and welcoming. I will definitely do the tour again.

Great day out at the Appleton Estate, sampling fine Rums and special reserves. Finding out about the process of distillery and production. Trying hot molasses was nice, and taking a walk around the factory. It’s all very secretive and secure in a few areas and pictures won’t be allowed on the factory floor where the end product is actually being distilled. Go slow, all to easy to get smashed on the samples!

This tour is a Must DO especially for Appleton lovers ! I have done it more than once and it never disappoints! The staffffff is GREAT! Our tour guide Tiffany was great, Sedane & Terrick at the bar and Levaughn out in the yard!

Look here, I've been here twice, and now the experience is still as good. The tourguides are engaging, and the complimentary drinks are good. Not even the rain could ruin the experience

Our guide Richard was great, knowledgeable and a great mentor for newly hired guide in training. Loved the passion Richard had for this place. You will have a sample at first of the finished product. Then your off to taste the sugar canes and molasses...key ingredients to your drink. Then we are off to see the rum making process and the storage barrels in the warehouse. Everything is explained. Aging the rum to locations stored. And not to forget the lesson on sampling rums. Everything is explained and taught. Jut follow the instructions and don't eat the chocolate right away..... Then your off to the gift shop. You can buy every type of rum mentioned on tour. Nice place. Well maintained some climbing of stairs. Just remember if the tours going to fast you can ask to slow down!!!!

It was fun, and I did learn a lot. Interactive and enjoyable. My wife and I appreciate that our 3yo could attend the tour, despite it being a "Rum" tour lol. The guide was very friendly and made us feel welcome.

Show us how they make rum from the laces is a great tour. The room tasting a lot of people like it. I personally don't drink so I cannot tell you how good. It was but everybody's face they look very pleased. If you go there should you make A? You should stop the Appletenstates.

A great beautiful estate. Very well kept & staff is friendly. Lunch we had there not only tasted good, chicken had smoky flavor, but prices are very reasonable. Tasting room was a nice touch, it makes you really see the difference in various aged Rums. I deducted a point as I felt entrance fee is a bit high, but I understand need to pay for all the staffing.

Well organized place, they explain all the processes and history of this Company well. Very clean environment. Price also very reasonable when compared with facilities. Not much crowded. We had chance to enjoy more than 15 years old rum and also they have good collection of rum and other jamaican products to buy with reasonable prices. enough parking space and no doubt about security. Learned rum producing process A to Z.

We loved the tour of the rum Distillery! Very interesting to see how rum is made and we got to try a few things. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. The rum tasting at the end was amazing! Definitely recommend visiting this place when in Jamaica :)

The Appleton Estate is a place worth visiting. To see and taste Jamaican history is an absolutely worth while experience. Thoroughly recommend this place. The barrel storage alone is an awe inspiring experience. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The estate is beautifully kept whist maintaining its historical roots.

Appleton Estate stole my heart, I’m not a huge fan of dark aged rums however I’ve always appreciated how ethical they are and how they source ingredients and resources. The lounge was beautiful, the tour was fantastic, and lunch was good too. Just a heads up, if you are a few hours away and have nausea issues take some medicine because 3/7 of our crew got car sick.

  • 5/5 Michael C. 3 months ago on Google New
Top teir experience, I'm not even a fan of rum like that and I enjoyed it. Road to get there is pretty unassuming but the location is breath takingly beautiful. So many photo ops you can't imagine. The tour was about 30 to 45 mins and very informative. Warning tho, when they are fermenting there can be a smell that can possibly be unbearable for some to get close to the still room. Also recommend getting atleast one drink from the bar to top off the shot at the end of the tour, thank me later lol

Immaculate building and grounds with a very nice gift shop and restaurant. If you are interested in the history of Appleton rum, the tour is very informative and takes you inside their distillery. You will receive a welcome rum drink while waiting for your tour to begin, a short video in the theater, several stations at which they demonstrate and explain the rum making process from beginning to end, and then rum tasting at the end of the tour. We drove a rental car from Montego Bay. It is a long drive, so plan for an entire day experience from Montego Bay.
