How do I even start? The one star goes to the porters, the cleaners and the decent Security Officers there, because there are a few. The customer service (it's a sin to call what most of the workers at this 'hospital' offer service) is APPALLING. Security Guards, Customer Service Reps, nurses, doctors, just the system of the hospital is just HORRENDOUS. For any matter requiring you to go to Accident & Emergency be prepared for a 7-12 hour wait before you are seen by a doctor who will make a determination about your situation. They issue vague instructions such as "go over there by the curtain to have an ECG done", but while you wait by the curtain for no less than an hour or more, thinking you just have to be patient until someone come starts dealing with you, frustration starts setting in, so you may see a nurse & ask her who is supposed to be doing the ECG and she will tell you with attitude "you have to ask someone to do it". How would patients and their relatives know that? Or, if they tell you to "stand there and wait for your name to be called" again in excess of an hour is when you will finally try to find out what is happening & that's when they will say "oh, go to screening". They, doctors and nurses, offer no helpful information that can lessen the time spent there that's just making ill patients even more ill from just sheer frustration and they are the epitome of lack of care and indifference. Registration staff are sour and unpleasant. Customer Service staff are indifferent and mostly unhelpful. If you don't know you're supposed to get a pass, Customer Service is not going to offer the information to say 'you have to put your name down for a pass back into A&E to see the person you brought in'. They all act as if you know the place and how it operates. So my advice is, if you ever have to visit this place, don't take the instruction at face value and don't stand there patiently waiting, you'll regret it. Ask questions and keep asking questions until someone deals with you. The same doctor who has been dealing with you on and off from the beginning asks the same question over a dozen times. You are screened by the nurse who asked the same question, so if it's not on the screening sheet and the patient has already verbally answered in excess of 3 times about his/her medical history, why continue to waste time asking the same thing over and over? Is it just to look like they're doing something? Some of the Security Guards are another story. Some are good, but a few of them are just sleazy. Nobody have time to be flirting with security when their relative is in medical distress. They need to do their jobs, help where they can and keep it moving. The nurses gossip about their personal business right in front of patients with no care. I don't care if you are just checking the glucose level in my urine, I DO NOT want anyone who's not related to me or serve a medical purpose in the room. This happens at this hospital. All hospital staff should be oriented in a way to understand that when someone comes into a hospital because of medical issues, they are already at a disadvantage, so there's no need to kick the dog while it's down with your foul attitudes, unnecessarily extended and frustrating time at a hospital. You already have the advantage over the patient. The A&E and other sections connecting to it including the waiting area has leaking roof, with the slab sections showing signs of fungus in the roof and the tiled sections showing the water stains on the tiles. For the amount of money these hospitals get the mattress for the bed in the ECG area is falling apart and the place just shows signs of dilapidation. Being at this place is like a punishment and I am now convinced that if hell has a realm on earth, it's called Spanish Town Public Hospital.

Was having chest pain , was seen by the intake nurse quickly , however that is where the quick service ended. I was directed to do an EKG , I was told to stand in a particular spot and wait for the nurse , 15 mins passed and no nurse . I ask someone to do the EKG and her response was β€œI don’t do EKG I am a doctor β€œ , absolutely amazing. I observed at least 12 doctors and around 10 pm maybe 6 nurses and it was not terribly busy , however the service was slow. I am thankful I was not dying. I hope I never have to visit Sp Town HOSP again.

This hospital is the worst in whole Jamaica..I believe the Minister of Health should do a clean out of the bad weeds in this place or lock it down.. Some doctors, nurses really need to look into other work option and the space for those with character to come in

I was born in this hospital and now live overseas. My father has a lot of medical issues and had to be hospitalized on several occasions. The staff has always been good to him and I’m very grateful. This hospital needs a lot of help and they do the best with what they have to help everyone. I’m sure Donations and volunteers would be greatly appreciated by anyone who can assist.

This hospital needs to be shutdown. The healthcare and the employees have no heart. They lef mi uncle fi dead and should be ashamed. Whatever you do don’t come to this hospital, your loved one will not last. I’m begging and pleading, all the amount of money we gave to make sure my Uncle had the proper care and they did nothing to help him. You should be ashamed to even represent Jamaica πŸ‡―πŸ‡² don’t worry no amount of reviews will get my point across. I’m not done yet. 🀬🀬🀬

My son is 2 so idk if he's in good hands or not since he can't talk. Most of the staff was okay but as usual some of the nurses and security guards have attitude. To be honest I cried in secret but only because I couldn't respond the way I wanted to, knowing I need their help. The child ward is clean and comfortable, the lady who bathes the babies was very nice and helpful. They were all helpful but some could really use an attitude check, especially those on the night shift. A far better experience than children's but I wish I was allowed to stay with him overnight. That's why UWI will alwaysvbe my top pick.

My hospital in the U.S has been calling Spanish town hospital and even tried faxing them for over three months to no avail. This is entirely ridiculous! I have even tried calling several times and the line either beeps or goes to busy automatically. Where is the receptionist or why not develop a website then so people can fill out forms online to make things easier? If this is how hard it is to get my medical records I can’t even imagine the treatment people who receive care here have to deal with. It’s a big let down truthfully!

September 25, 2023, 12p Poor quality Healthcare .. unprofessional environment.. security guards are exceptionally rude! I long to see RNs and other caregivers deliver on their pledge and promise in providing compassionate care. Specifically, the entire charge staff, greeter AND THE SECURITY GUARD were disrespectful to the patients and their families! The doctor was very helpful. The welcome center (street-side) was helpful and friendly. The X-ray machines were down. A procedure was required but the equipments needed to perform the essential task were broken. Recommendation: Remember that no one wants to be at the hospital. So, when you see the pat, they are in need. start with a genuine smile... and the compassionate acts will follow. The buildings and entire compound needs to be refurbished. Seek to provide top quality healthcare!

Worst hospital known to man, I swear to God if you go to see the doctor you might sit down waiting for two whole days. That how long it took me to see a doctor, from your case it's not an emergency they are not gonna look at you right away.

Terrible customer service! No care for patient's family or loved ones. Horrendous wait for a specialized doctor or the doctor who discharges the patient. My recommendation is to visit a private doctor while making this hospital your last resort...

Clean. But extremely poor customer service. Not sure why they have so many security guards. There are more security guards than patients. It looks like a prison. Facilities not so bad. There is only one operation Theaters. It has an X ray machine, but NO CT scanner.

Worst hospital ever and linstead hospital too. I don’t know why it’s mandatory to select one star but it’s zero stars for me. If I’m dying or any relative of mine is I’d prefer drive pass this hospital and die on my way to a hospital with professional staff (docs n nurses) that actually cares and attends to the patients instead of sit around a desk and talk while a patient in dying pain in-front of them asking for assistance and take the entire day to get it. These doctors need to change professions and go be garbage collectors where they can take their own little time to pick up the garbage.

This hospital fails on a regular to put the elderly and young children first. My youngest brother has been admitted ,he is weak vomiting blood and dehydrated and a fever that wouldn't break and for 3 days he and my mom had to sit up because there was no bed available . wrongly diagnosed, and neglected. It's just not good enough.

The doctors who checked on me daily and did my C-section were professional and understood the anxiety I was feeling due to my medical issues. However, some of the nurses, mainly the younger nurses, were very unprofessional and had no sympathy for us new mother's when we were asking simple questions we were not sure about. And to top it off, if it weren't for a more seasoned nurse coming into the ward I would still be admitted because I would have continued getting sicker. So, to the senior and more seasoned nurses, you made the stay bearable.

My sister was admitted here twice and the longest she had been here was for 2 months. She would complain that they treated her badly but we thought it was the cancer medicine making her paranoid. They never changed her diapers which sucked because she would have to stay in her waste until visiting hours(we found a loophole solution for this but won’t say here). We had her transfer over to UWI and STH didn’t have a single file for her. When she got to UWI we found out the extent of her condition. Really wouldn’t recommend coming here. Just go to UWI……

On Dec 26 2020 I took my father in law Roy Dunston to the Spanish Town Hospital.being my first time visiting in all my 23 years of living in Portmore I was so impress. Went to the security by A and E and she was so courteous. I explained it was my first time didn't knowwhere to go and the procedure. She instructed me to have the patient sit and the nurse on duty would soon attend to him. LESS than five minutes he was called she did his vitals and sent him over to another section escorted by a porter. Then another nurse came took some blood explained it would rake an hour and a half for the results, while we escorted to do a chest Cray on him. That one was done so quickly I was amazed, we got the film and proceeded back to the isolation area and then they looked on it and advise me they were going to admit him.i had all the confidence that he would be taken care of.now he's out and doing fine. Thanks to the team who worked their backs off to make this experience so amazing.Dr Gordon and his team.Mr Dunston has asked to thank you all and to be strong admidst the struggles you face on a daily basic. Professionalism at it's best.well done Spanish Town. Continue to do what you all do best.may God continue to strengthen and protect you all.
