Frenchman’s Cove beach is a very unique beach located in the parish of Portland, Jamaica. This place is often referred to as Paradise! The grounds at the cove spread about 42 acres with villas throughout, however, the actual beach is relatively small. This is not a problem because this beach is rarely crowded. What makes this beach so unique is the amazing river that meets the ocean – such a sight to see! The sand is soft and white and the water is crystal clear. You can choose to swim in the very calm river or the ocean. The ocean water can get wavy and rough at times so when you are done swimming, there are an abundance of chairs on the beach for rent. From the beach you get a clear view of the villas on top of the surrounding cliffs. The villas give a great view overlooking the ocean, beach and river. Once you are done relaxing on the sandy beach, just a few steps away, you are able to rinse off in the pure river water. Don’t be surprised if you are swimming amongst tiny fish. Take this time to relax and enjoy being surrounded by the small and secluded jungle. Kids and adults can enjoy the swing that hangs above the river. Food and drinks are served here. You have a selection of Jamaican jerk chicken, steam fish, burgers, fries, rice, etc. Many agree that the price is reasonable, especially when served with a warm smile. This place is a great one for photos. I have taken many photos here and people are always amazed and immediately ask where this gorgeous place is. Please observe the no topless signs here – Frenchman’s Cove is very family friendly. There aren’t enough words that can describe the greatness of this place. Come to Frenchman’s Cove if you simply want to relax and take in your surroundings. You will not be disappointed!

This place is very beautiful. The sea weaves will fill your innermost with exotic. But, The entry charge is JMD 1800 which seems slightly higher than its arrangements. Else everything is fine.

the stars are for the beach. Beach is nice, the river runs through the ocean. which is very interesting. You have to pay at the gate which is $1000jmd which comes out to about $12us. I personally think they’re charging way too much to get in. then you have to walk along way to get to the beach and river. beach chairs are $200jmd that’s reasonably, which comes out to $1:75us. the beers and food is pretty pricey one red Stripe was $450: the waitress/waiters are all ready to serve you. they need more training. to know you don’t hangover someone while they’re looking on a menu. they should know you give someone a menu, leave. wait a minutes and come back. A nice place to hang out and spend the day if your a beach and nature lover.

We arrived at 9am and it was amazing to be first people on the beach. The freshwater river is beautiful lush green and the beach is a perfect Caribbean cove. Stunning nature. Restaurant had good jerk.

Fantastic Beach. Our entry was included with our stay at another hotel close by, but I'm told it's less than US$10 each. You rent a lounge chair for J$100 for the day. Plenty of nice inexpensive food and drink available which is waitered to your chair. The water is sublime. Warm Caribbean sea water with cold currents making the experience unforgettable.

We enjoyed everything about Frenchman's Cove. You get to enjoy the River and the Sea. Don't forget you have pay to enter but it is worth it. The food is tasty.

Portland is hands down my favourite parish to visit! The beach is beautiful, nice white sand and a cool river. The food from the kitchen was great! Huge, fresh and well cooked fish.

One of the best experiences I've had. It's beauty captivated me from the moment I entered till I left. The environment is beyond magnificent, the water is clear, clean and something out of a magazine. The service impeccable, Our server Greg deserves an award for being patient, kind and hospitable..The only drawback is the bathroom/changeroom, those needs to be separated. Can't have ppl changing in the toilets..But, great overall experience and don't forget to ask for Greg.

This is a wonderful small sandy beach that is privately owned and requires a reasonable entrance fee in order to gain access. The beach is well maintained with crystal clear waters that are perfect for bathing. A pristine river flows into one side of the beach and offers another alternative for bathing. There is ample parking available that is a short walk to the beach. Visitors can rent beach lounge chairs for a fee and there is an on-site restaurant that serves refreshments and food. I have been to this beach several times over the past few years and have always enjoyed my time here.

I love this place, the beach is wonderful and the river is cool, relaxing and just plain awesome. Now you can't take in food so prepare to purchase, but if you dont like spicy food, you might have a problem. Update. Visited again, and it was still a great experience. The road was still being worked on, so just prepare for that delay. Otherwise, a great visit it was.

The place is gorgeous. It's where the river enters into sea. So the sea water isn't that salty. The river water wasn't clear because the river bed is mostly sand but the river itself is clean. You have to pay for entry so the beach wasn't crowded and with that there wasn't any vendors to pest you about buying from them. The French Man Cove hotel is right by the beach so you can always make a reservation there.

The beach and the river were both clean. Really enjoyed playing beach ball with my friends in the river. The personnels on the beach are very helpful and the view is beautifully. Second time being here and it’s always fun with friends.

The drive to Portland was very long and stressful, given that we live in Clarendon and some parts of Portland road is bad. Upon arriving to the beach there were alot of rules to adhere to which was kind of annoying because I hate restrictions when I’m paying for something. The cost to enter wasn’t bad can’t recall the amount tho. The scenery was beautiful and quiet very cool and clean. The river water was beautiful and clean I didn’t go in the sea part as it seemed too rough at the time. My faults were tht we had to pay for chair to sit on and they were the plastic veranda chairs, a flat beach chair would have been more suitable and u didn’t get why we had to pay for rental and we already paid to come in. It should have been accessible to patrons. Also one of the rule was no food but we brought it anyways and luckily we did cause there was no food at the time. Don’t think I’ll be going back

This is an amazing beach nestled in Port Antonio Portland the grounds are well kept and it’s an amazing nature park. The ocean is warm and it’s just the greatest vibe to enjoy a relaxing evening on the beach. There is a bar and grill on property and the food is affordable.

Unbelievably gorgeous 😍 just know that if you order food here, you'll wait a while. Not that that's a problem - the time is easily spent enjoying the area.

One of the BEST beaches in Portland. I've been here countless of times and it never disappoints. Has a lil river adjacent to the beach as well. Restaurant is also on the property, food is alright but not the best i've had especially in Portie. Worth the drive to just go to Boston Jerk after the beach

One of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The cove is flanked by a crystal clear river to the left, and provides a magic blend of cool river water and warm sea water. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and the colours are rich and captivating. Restaurant on site was good and fairly priced. This is an absolute must visit for anyone passing through Portland Parish.

The beach and stream are stunning. The resturant only geylts going around 11:30. I went early and there were very few people around. Tye cost for entry was $1500 Jamaican for a foreigner.

Visited in November 2019. It's like making a journey in a fantasy place, back in the era of the pirates! Very clean and well organised. It requires to by a ticket to get in. There is a safe guard and catering facilities. Bonus highlight, the small cold stream that joins the sea...

I love beaches where the river meets the sea. The water is very cool and unlike many other Jamaican beaches. But not in a bad way. I love the flora in the surrounding location and the curve that hugs the land. Twice times coming here and I love it.

This is a beautiful spot. River meets the sea. Calm shallow river meeting ocean with tree swings over the river. Beach has nice white sand. Food options are decent and not tourist prices really. Pay to enter. Free chairs and loungers.
