This rating is for disappointment of communication on our recent event for our 25 year anniversary. We booked the trolley for our special day as to support a local business and the convenience of location to our event locations. Thought all was well until final payment was due, during our party the planner from Trolley came with the bill. Bill was 225 dollars more than the amount disussed at time of booking. Wife paid quickly so we could enjoy our party. We attempted to discuss the discrepancy in the bill only to be given all kinds of excuses "you changed things ect." Meanwhile everything planned was reiterated 2 days prior and day prior with Trolley staff an no mention of any price change until the middle of our reception when my wife was presented the bill to pay. A conversation was attempted to be had with Trolley President and party/event coordinator which excuses continued and lack of conversation was had on Trolley's end. They were great or so I thought offering to assist doing things without mention of any extra cost, and then thrown in my face that they did this and that was appreciated until I was billed for it at a steep rate. And not to leave out I tipped the party/event coordinator $100.00 dollar bill for the extra help, not knowing I was only to be billed extra. I mean from $525.00 bill that was discussed at time of booking to $750.00 dollar was a surprise an big DISAPPOINTMENT. So be careful if looking to "Charter" the Trolley.

Ran by passionate volunteers. Do not come here if you are wanting a super polished and preserved site, this is where real cars are kept and the real task of trying to preserve as much history as possible happens!

Currently during COVID only open 12-5 on weekends by volunteers, this is not a typical "museum". There are few retired/rescued subway trains/buses outside to view. More in the garage under repair. Some history/pictures in the gift shop. That was about it! You can tell the resource is limited and the volunteers are devoting. It's certainly satisfying for a track fan kid and even for adults just knowing what to expect. The trolley goes along the Hudson river between Maritime Museum and the Kingston Point Park. It was a relaxing 20 minute ride.

I enjoyed my experience at this Museum and I enjoyed the video that they had and seeing all the old school train cars that they had. I also enjoyed my trolley ride to Kingston Point Park and my walk around that Park as well. I would love to go back to this Museum if they were able to get a newer trolley car to run.

Awesome place to learn about trolleys and the transit world. Loved the trolley ride to the point. They tell you a lot of the history of NYC trolleys and such. Had a great time.

We went on a trolley ride down to Kingston point...it was very very beautiful. Great way to see the leaves and the river. And the lighthouse. The tour and talk was really informative, my son had been before and he had interesting things to add. It was a good time and it was a beautiful day.

The Trolley Museum of New York in Kingston, NY, is a hidden gem nestled along the scenic banks of the Hudson River. Our visit was an exhilarating blend of exploration and innovation as we mapped the area and captured breathtaking drone footage. The museum's rich history and vintage trolleys add to its charm, while the picturesque surroundings provided a captivating backdrop for our project. With near-perfect weather, the day was a seamless fusion of learning and creativity. A delightful experience that showcased the museum's allure and the Hudson's natural beauty. A must visit location with friends and family, especially kids. I would rate this 5 stars without any hesitation.

It's nice to take a ride in the trolley but I hope that they can get a grant to expand it to the Button Brickyard! Trolleys are a valuable piece of history and this is basically a volunteer organization. I give you all a lot of credit for your commitment! The Rail line is already about halfway to the newly reconstructed facility. This will promote tourism and expand the business to the Rondout dining experience!

The layout is a little disorienting at first but if you like trains this is a must. Volunteers donate time to restore vintage trolley and train cars. From an old German street car to one of two PATH train cars that were pulled from the wreckage at WTC after 9/11 it's worth the admission. Top it off with a (mostly) picturesque trolley ride and it's a great way to spend an hour or two in Kingston.

It was a great experience. It's all run by volunteers that care about preserving the local history. Beautiful little ride down the Hudson past the light house and the museum has lots of original antique trains and pieces. They have an adorable gift shop and area with tons of original memorabilia. Well worth a visit.

A cute museum. Not really much to see but the trolley ride was worth it. It ran along the Hudson and some amazing views.

A very nice museum, run by some very dedicated people with a very good representation of NYC subway and bus history.

This is probably a great stop for train buffs! But was unfortunately only 3 stars for us (tired parents of a train-crazy toddler hoping for an activity that would keep him busy and excited), mostly because of how few of the vehicles were explorable. (We had just missed the trolley ride along the river when we arrived, and it does seem like that’s a highlight for many visitors, so this review is only for the museum itself.) The other reviews helped prepare me for what to expect, and it was as expected: mostly a collection of train cars and buses parked outside, with a few undergoing restoration in a garage. We were only able to go inside 3 of the train cars / busses, which was disappointing for our three year old son. Would have been much more exciting if more of the vehicles had been open to go inside. The whole visit was about a 20-30 minute activity for our family. That said: after 2 hours in the car from NYC, this was a decent stop to get out and eat a sandwich at their picnic benches and then look around before getting back in the car. Also, the museum is clearly run by dedicated volunteers, and we were very happy to put our ticket price toward their mission.

The trolly ride was great. My son loved it so much we rode a bunch of times. The view you get to see is also beautiful. I liked how you can get off and walk around and explore and catch the next Trolley or walk back if you want. It is also a great location so you can walk down by the boats. The one guy gave a bunch of information on the trains and the rails which I found very awesome. It was nice to be able to go on some of the old cars my son loved that. Wish there was a bit more to the shop area for kids to really explore or do but I do also understand it's all volunteer. It was still a wonderful experience.

This museum and trolley tour/ride is a great excursion to do with the Hudson river cruise all in one day. They really feed off of each other's history with the area and I am so glad to have finally enjoyed this wonderful hidden jewel. There are three stops and the volunteer staff are so dedicated to there job that they even offered a ride back to the station so I could get my tickets when I got off the cruise. I can not stress enough how super friendly and wonderful personally these people have telling you about what they do to preserve these trolley cars and railways. I personally hope that everyone can support this non profit to continue there dedicated work. I loved how when it was the last stop and after 10 mins of allowing the passengers to explore the area they did there train magic and switched the seats the other way to go back in the other direction absolutely spectacular, thank you and God Bless.
