I wanted to try something different and it was. The place was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. The wait time was over 15min so it is best to order before you go. Maybe I'll try again and order something different. 🤔

Turmeric is probably THE best Indian restaurant in all of NOLA and greater NOLA area that I’ve tried so far. Coming from an Indian, the flavors and variety are exciting. We tried the goat biryani, malai kofta, lasuni gobi and tomato shorba. My favorites were the gobi and shorba followed by the malai kofta. The prices are appropriately priced and well worth the value. The two chefs are highly skilled veteran chefs from Mumbai and Tamil Nadu. The service was above and beyond excellent. Durell treated my wife and I very respectfully. We had such an amazing conversation filled with laughter and warmth. I met the Tamil chef, Je and we instantly bonded. I will definitely be frequenting this restaurant often because the food is just excellent and the staff really made me feel welcome and created a very authentic experience for us. The dining atmosphere was vibrant and modern. Very clean space. 5/5 in all aspects. Turmeric is a definite gem. The only negative comment I can make is that I wish there was a second location closer to where I live! I’d be there everyday if that were possible!

The place is very clean, the employees are very kind and nice. The food was good, this is not the Indian food I ever had, but it is a good quality of food. The Mango Lassi was great and not too sweet, the palak paneer was very good, the rice was a bit too dry for us and the malahi kufta had no nuts at all. The place is good and we would come back.

So I tried Turmeric last year for lunch from the menu and the food was mediocre at best so never went back again until last Sunday night dinner buffet (5.30-9p). We tried everything from chicken soup (good) to chicken tikka masala (didn’t taste anything like chicken tikka masala), curry chicken had a South Indian flavor to it, tandoori chicken was fresh and succulent, veggie pakoras were alright, nan were ok. I looked at the vegetarian options on the buffet and they didn’t appeal to me so didn’t bother. The buffet was $18 bucks each and on the check, the waiter charged $5 each for my 1 and 2-year-old. Seriously, and I did ask the waiter about it, who does that and his response dumbfounded me, “customers lie about the age of their babies so we charge $5 each for every child.” Really? I’m pretty sure he’s single and doesn’t have the slightest idea how much it cost to raise a baby, let alone 2 babies In this day and age, probably as much as running this restaurant. Well, I wrote that down on the receipt and considered $10 their tip (I mean, $50 for buffet for 2 adults, hmm). I mean, this supposedly loyal waiter who couldn’t even answer properly when asked, at what age the children eat free? So I hope the owner will take care of him because I surely didn’t leave any tip. Mediocre food and bad customer service, I would advice everyone to skip this Indian restaurant and go to Mantra. P.S. there was no air conditioning so to eat Indian food while sweating it out is your idea of fun, be my guest

Awesome food, but the best part was the service. We were a party of 7 and we got simply the best waiter in all nola. We are here for just a few days and this was definitely the best food and the best waiter. Thank you so much! Even with a few days only left we are thinking about coming back.

I was told by a local that this was truly authentic Indian food, and they were right. The food was great. I absolutely love this restaurant and wish there was one in my hometown. I definitely will be back if i return to NOLA. The heat level was perfect, not too spicy to loose flavor, but definitely still there. The Naan was worth coming for alone.

There is not much Indian cuisine restaurants in New Orleans but this is one of the best restaurant for the cuisine in town. I came here twice already and each time the food were amazing and the service was impeccable. Personally, I am still new to Indian cuisine, there's several dishes I am still not familiar with, so when I ask the waiters they are amazing at taking the time to explain it to me. In addition, when my family ordered a wrong item, the restaurant happily took it back and not charge us. From appetizers to desserts, the food is amazing with plenty of flavors. Samosas, Dahi Ke Kabab, tikka masala, saag, to even the desserts such as gulab jamun and gaajar halwa were all a treat. Again, I am not an expert in Indian food so I won't be able to discern a good and a bad Indian dish. However, what I can tell you is that each dish had plenty of flavors, the protein quantity was good, and we had a good time here. The restaurant is a little warm temperature-wise, idk if that is because management choose not to turn up the AC, but it wasn't an issue for me to take a star off.

First time here and all four of us at the table were very pleased with the food and service. Decided to treat some out-of-town family to something different and Turmeric did not disappoint! Delicious variety of flavors, perfectly cooked breads and vegetables… we all left happy and full. If you are sensitive to smell - bare in mind that they do burn scents here (smelled like wonderful incense as soon as you walk in). Please patron this restaurant. They could use the business… for new/upgraded menus! Also, they just deserve it. The food is too good for this place not to be busy on a Sunday afternoon! Dishes ordered/photographed: Vegetable Samosa, Naan + Garlic Naan, Aloo Matar, Matar Paneer, Mushroom Methi Matar, Vegetable Korma (maaaybe, couldn’t remember this menu item name).

This place is one of the best Indian restaurants in New Orleans. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who would like to try authentic Indian food. Great service and amazing food. We went to this place twice during our 3 day trip in New Orleans last weekend. Tried Lasuni Gobi, Chicken Lollipop, Dal Makhani, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry and Dal Tadka. Everything was really good. My personal favorite was Dal Makhani and Chicken Curry. Also, garlic naan was perfect. Will definitely stop by during our next trip to New Orleans.

Consistently amazing food and service. I've had Stanley as a server a few times now and always have a great experience. In my opinion, this is the best Indian restaurant in the New Orleans area!

First time eating Indian food with family: the staff was so helpful, the food was FANTASTIC and I will definitely be back!!! The tomato soup looks simple but it packed with delicious spices. It’s NOT your everyday tomato soup. The butter chicken is delicious and not too spicy. Can’t wait to try their buffet on Sunday. They have set the bar very high for future Indian cuisine.

Fantastic staff, kind and welcoming atmosphere, and food that'll make you come back for more! A truly satisfying meal every time with so many delicious dishes to try. The owner was extremely generous and provided us with a fantastic experience every time. Would recommend and will be returning!

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. The lamb suka and lamb korma were both soo good. I can't even really put into words the symphony of favors that are all happening at once, but that is why Indian food is such a one of a kind experience. I also highly recommend the mushroom methi mantar, the cashew sauce with mushrooms is too good! Service couldn't be better, everyone is so kind which is really refreshing nowadays. You come here with a few of your best friends and loved ones, and you can eat like royalty, without breaking the bank. Might be my favorite restaurant in the New Orleans area, it's that good!

This was our first time at an Indian restaurant and this place has very good food. We got the basics to start out: naan, butter chicken, and tandoori. Highly recommend, delicious food!!

Excellent high quality Indian food that does not pull punches on authentically seasoning their dishes. I will be driving past closer Indian restaurants to come here from now on.

I haven't been to the buffet, only dinner. It's a little dark, in that old-school intimate way. The tables are well-lit, though. It creates a sort of bubble for your table. The staff is friendly. It's Indian food, so I'm not familiar with most of the menu. The staff answers questions and makes recommendations. Everyone has been courteous, and the restaurant is clean. The food is rich and flavorful. Everything always smells delicious. Be adventurous and ask questions. They want you to enjoy your meal as much as you want to. I've had only good experiences here.

Wow, talk about a flavorful dish, the country chicken curry was on point. I got there a little after 9 PM, and even though the place closes at about 10 PM, I was not rushed, and the service was great and fast. The dish came out in probably less than 10 minutes, highly recommended!!

Grew up in NOLA, and there have been three restaurants that have brought tears to my eyes becuase it was so damn good. Turmeric is one of them. The flavors are perfect and fresh. The proprietors of the restaurant are so nice and helpful. If you live on the Westbank, lucky you. If you're on the East Bank, just take the short drive over the bridge. It's so worth it! You'll become a regular.

I visited the restaurant with 3 of my friends and we just loved the place. Easily the best Indian restaurant in NOLA. We ordered Chicken Lollipop and lasooni gobi for the appetizers and chicken chettinand, paneer makhani and dal for entree. Everything was super delicious and completely authentic. I would highly recommend this place and would definitely go back if I get a chance.
