Captain George is the coolest guy on the bayou. I live in New Orleans and I have been on the tour twice in just the last couple of months. I recommend it to EVERYONE. You learn so much, you get to see the beauty of Louisiana and honestly it’s just relaxing. Thank you for a wonderful experience every time! I will be back soon!

A few weeks ago my cousins and I were visiting New Orleans and overheard some ppl talking about how much they enjoyed their swamp tour with Captain George. We immediately reached out to Happiness Bayou Tours to book first the next day. His wife was a sweetheart and made the process seamless and easy. George was informative and personalized the experience. plus he made sure we got to see some gators. please do not hesitate to book your tour with them. You will not be disappointed!

George was our host, he is awesome and grew up in the area. He has excellent knowledge of the history of the surrounding areas and is a part time crab fisherman in the winter, so he knows the local fish and game very well. George was awesome, the tour was awesome, but we had a very cold, very rainy day that we weren't quite outfitted for. George loaned us his thick jacket for my 7 year old daughter to wear to keep her warm. I have nothing but praise and will be coming back when the weather is warmer. DO NOT believe your GPS when going to this place, as you approach coming from the bridge on the 47 the marina is on the left not the right!

We had an amazing time today with Cpt. George. We learned so much, and he also had great stories to keep us all entertained. I recommend this tour if you want to see the bayou but also learn about the region.

We had a wonderful time on our trip!! Captain George was excellent! He was friendly, informative, and funny. He loves what he does and you can see it by how excited he was to explain the history of the bayou. The crabs were delicious and so were the drinks! If you want an outing for the family or a experience to remember Go !

Captain George and his wife Samantha are nothing but fantastic!! Best tour I've been on, so personal and informative! We got caught in a storm and we're allowed in their camp! Which was also stunning! Small group of three we were with two other groups and we were besties by the end! High recommendation and if you get food at de pope the crab and butter beans are fire!!!!

This was the absolute highlight of our visit to New Orleans! Captain George is the real deal! This guy knows everything there is to know about the bayou. He has so much life experience from living in this area and his stories are so personal and amazing. I asked so many questions and he happily answered every single one. My friends and I know we booked the right tour. He brought us right next to the alligators and even picked one up. We even got to meet his alligator snapping turtle. And his wife Sam is the most amazing woman as well! She was so sweet and welcoming to us. If we ever go back I will do this tour again and again. It was such an amazing few hours. Captain George made the time fly by. Best tour guide I've ever had anywhere! Thank you again!

This tour is a MUST!!!! My fiancé surprised me with a trip to New Orleans for my birthday. I can honestly say our day with Samantha and George (and of course Clarence) made the whole trip. From Samantha’s crab cakes (seriously the best in the entire world) to the Pope’s bar, the sweet people with stories to tell, and the actual tour with all of George’s history and knowledge sprinkled in… it was incredible. We can’t wait to go back and bring the kids!

Truly one of a kind experience. What a pleasant surprise to not get a cheesy gator-only tour but a tour of the bayou and all its animals and history instead. George is a legend. His stories make for an entertaining and informative time. Plus, he is so authentic and welcoming to boot. We couldn’t have asked for a better outing and I can’t wait to recommend him to friends and family that visit. ❤️

Samantha and George truly host a one-of-kind experience! I’ve done the larger, more commercial “swamp” tours before where the guide is on a schedule and does tour after tour a day, where you’re one of hundreds of guests a day. At their place, it feels very personal and comfortable. We got to know the two of them, had an absolute blast, and ate some delicious food. George and Samantha both have story after story of growing up in the area that kept us engaged the entire 3 hours we spent with them. Highly, highly recommend for a local, authentic experience!

Went as part of a weekend trip, easily the highlight of our weekend. Captain George is entertaining and knowledgeable about the bayou and its history. We learned more about New Orleans, its wildlife, history etc. And he’s a gator whisperer. Can’t recommend enough

A big thank you to Captain George for sharing his exciting work with us!! I went for a ride in the bayou and was beyond thrilled with my experience. He's from Violet, so he shares a lot of personal experiences that make the trip even better. After the trip, we had the opportunity to eat fresh crab he had just caught, served by his lovely wife, what a beautiful day!! I also had the chance to see lots of alligator for the first time of my life!! Thank you again for all the beautiful day

I recently scheduled a corporate event for our team with Happiness Bayou Tours in Chalmette, Louisiana, and our team RAVED about the tour and the owners, George and Samantha. The tour was given by George and he spent a full 2 hours with them on the bayou showing them the wildlife (which included George kissing an alligator), local ecosystem and the rebuilding efforts after hurricane Katrina. He has spent his life on these waterways and has an in-depth knowledge of the bayou, which he happily shares. George is extremely personable and is a wonderful tour guide! After the tour you can enjoy some South Louisiana cuisine at De Pope Tavern, which is their on-site restaurant/bar. The team truly enjoyed the food and I believe they tried everything on the menu. The food is made in house by Samantha, who is a fabulous cook. Although all of the food was incredible, our team LOVED the crabs and crab cakes! The crabs are caught fresh by George and then used by Samantha to create these delicious dishes. I have been on several bayou tours in southern Louisiana and the tour with Happiness Bayou Tours is the absolute best. George and Samantha are so easy to work with and could probably earn a fortune giving customer service training to companies. Their follow up and attention to detail is phenomenal. Samantha even called me the day after to make sure everyone was happy. My best advice, if you are reading my review is to TAKE THE TOUR AND EAT THE FOOD at Happiness Bayou Tours. You will get a "slice" of Louisiana's unique culture and Samantha and George's hospitality that will make you want to return time and again for more!

Being a SE Louisiana native, myself, I can confidently say this is the most authentic bayou tour you’ll get in the state. Captain George takes you through 3.5 hours of local wildlife, and has a captivating story to go along with every step of the way!

Captain George loves his bayou and the people in it. You’ll get a full appreciation for bayou infrastructure and environmental history. Because this is a boat and not an airboat, you’ll go through slightly deeper water than the marsh. This is different than other marsh tours I’ve been on that have focused on the education of the wildlife.

I wanted to experience the bayou on a small personal scale, just was not interested in a noisy air boat ride or a big pontoon boat with a captain who worked for a big company and had a scripted speech he gave multiple times a day. Happiness was the right choice, we went early to have drinks in De Pope pub and so glad we did the ladies running it were so nice & funny and we all enjoyed our time there. They also had some great restaurant tips for the remainder of our stay. Captain George had a very nice, clean boat with plenty of shade and comfortable seats. He entertained us with his personal knowledge of the bayou and the history of the parish pre and post Katrina. The trip did not disappoint with multiple gator sightings and a most enjoyable day.

George is so knowledgeable of the area and a delight to listen to! They are so friendly and patient with the family and fun atmosphere from start to finish the tour was fantastic. We got to see some beautiful gators!

Tours can be so dicey.....but this is one you won't want to miss! Captain George is a fantastic guide and host. He shares so much of his families history as well as regional history. You feel like you're hanging out with a new personal friend. This is a family business and it shows in the service both on the boat and at the tavern. FANTASTIC!!! If you're going to go out on a tour of this type, book here!!

This was absolutely amazing! I specifically looked for a tour that was not super commercial and did individual tours. Captain George was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions while telling us all of his wonderful stories and explaining all of the different bodies of water. We got to see him empty out the crab traps which was very unique and cool. He also wasn't very shy with the gators and even gave one a kiss. Throughout the whole tour we were just in awe of the natural wonders around us, we felt safe, and we were amazed by the wealth of information that Captain George had to share. We also met his awesome wife Samantha who gave us a ride back. She was super nice and friendly. We can't wait to come back with the whole family in tow next time!

What a fun day with a boatful of our friends and some alligators. Captain George made the day super informative, entertaining, and after a close encounter with some alligators, very exciting. It's obvious he loves his community and what he does. Tour had easy access from New Orleans CBD. Of the tours we looked at, this was by far the best value. We would do it again, for sure.

This tour was the best swamp tour I have ever been on! It’s not your regular swamp tour it is very interactive and the guide is absolutely amazing! He brings you so close to the alligators and even shows you his crab traps and educates you on crabs and some of the different laws. He tells the most detailed stories of living in the bayou and hurricane Katerina. He even takes you into his camp so you can get a feel of how people live on the bayou. Also if you are a fan of the swamp people you will see Rodneys tree stand and the bayou where he hunts! I highly recommend this tour you can really tell the guide is passionate about his work and this area!
