A hidden Malaysian Chinese restaurant in lane way of Broadway. I have visited this place many times, before and after the change in chefs. This restaurant has a casual vibe, not hawker style but also not like those wannabe up market Malaysian restaurants which charges an arm and a leg. Malacca Straits is popular for students and local staff and one of the long time restaurants in the precinct. The Har Mee has a strong prawn flavour, and recommend the angel prawns and ayam percik. This chicken curry has tender pieces and strong aromas. The chik ku teh (which we usually order as well) is addictive. The let down is the rice - it's a big hard, but is ok if you eat it with the sauces. Overall recommend this restaurant for a casual lunch or dinner. 👍😋

Wasn't expecting the Gado Gado dish to be so sweet, very unlike the indo taste. The Kuih Ketayap was extra sweet and overtook the pandan flavour. We got prawns, spring rolls, chicken chestnut, Salt & pepper tofu, okra, roti, veg curry. Overall reasonably priced and variety of options available. BYO drinks please.

Coming from Malaysia, we found the best Malaysian restaurant not in any part of Malaysia but in Sydney. Look like Australia has hijacked our best chef. They served most of Malaysian favourite like nasi lemak and hainanese chicken rice. We ordered all the chef’s recommendation on menu board. Their Kam Heong prawn and Har Cheong chicken are full of flavour. Silky tofu also very unique like eating taufu pudding. But the most unforgettable dish is curry fish head. It was the best I ever tasted. The sweet and savoury aroma of curry, a perfect balance with spiciness and creaminess couple to huge meaty long dan fish head. When long for taste of home on holiday, Malacca Straits on Broadway is a place to go.

Been in Sydney a week and a half. In that time, we visited this restaurant 3 times. Outstanding food. While the tables and chairs are very basic and it’s not swanky, this is right up there as one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. Portions are very generous and I’ve had several starters and particularly enjoyed the Kapitan chicken, the Malaysian Curry and the Masaman curry. Salt and pepper prawns are also awesome. I’m leaving for home in the morning and will very much miss this restaurant.

Really enjoyable dinner, wirh Chef Tan suggesting several of the 4 dishes we shared between 4ppl which along with chicken rice was the right amount. My fave dishes were the Kam Heong prawns and the melt in the mouth tofu dish. The Murtabak and succulent Hainan chicken also on point. Will definitely be back soon.

THE FOOD IS FANTASTIC AND THE SERVICE IS UNMATCHED. This is the third time I have tried this restaurant and every time the food keeps getting better. I ordered Nasi Lemak with beef rendang, the beef is so tasty and I finished it in a sec. The beef is soft and the chicken is tasteful but not too spicy. I ask them if they could give me more rice and that said sure (without hvin to pay more). They even added more curry to me for free as they saw that my rice is a bit plain. I assume it’s a family business and all the waiters are very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this to anyone !!!

Ordered the char kwa tiew, mee goreng, ayam goreng and hor fun. Food taste was very average, borderline bland. Unfortunately I was not impressed with what we got. The mee goreng was decent enough.

Pleasant staff and pleasant experience. Quality of food pretty close to Singapore/ Malaysia cuisine flavors.
