My family (2 elementary school students and dad and mom) stayed for 2 nights at the Sydney Marriott on September 24, 2022. This hotel location is so great!!! Because, Circular Quay Pier is 5-10minute walk from the main lobby and there are Harbor Bridge and Opera House, and you can go to various places by ferry. We have Marriott Gold Tier. The room size is reasonable and the bed is large. Also, room view is fantastic with partial view of the Harbor Bridge!!! We were satisfied with the use of the executive-lounge for breakfast and dinner, small buffet, alcoholic beverages (wine, beer) and a variety of soft drinks!!! The swimming pool includes a sauna but no heated pool... Our family was happy and satisfied during our stay! So, highly recommended for families visiting Sydney!!!👍

The room was satisfactory and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The service was the worst service I have ever experienced in any country or hotel in my lifetime. I have travelled extensively and stayed in every 5 star hotel across Sydney and this is at the bottom. My partner and I brought a 1 year old child with us and after a long day we finally retired to our room and requested a jug of milk which took 40 minutes to arrive. Instead of knocking or using the doorbell the phone was called and disrupted our son. The following morning we requested the milk again early in the morning and after 3 attempts to get the milk we were told it had been brought up twice already and nobody answered the door. I can’t see how that can be the case when we were near the door, had a doorbell and clearly the room service host doesn’t have an issue calling the phone late in the evening. Finally we got a cup of milk which wasn’t enough for him. This may sound pretentious however we had a schedule this morning and we had to change our plans. We got no blanket or pillow with the cot our son was also a guest I don’t know why he wasn’t treated like one. We were offered a complimentary bottle of wine which we never got. Plenty of other guests were complaining also so I’m glad it wasn’t just me I began to think I was being fussy. We will never ever be back to this hotel

Breakfast and location were great. Breakfast was a great range and very plentiful. We loved it. Location right on Circular Quay was excellent. I think for a 5 star restaurant the rooms were hugely disappointing. I have stayed in numerous hotels and the room would best be described as one up from a motel with wallpaper peeling off the walls and dirty carpet which was very unexpected. My $600 room that was meant to have a bridge view had a view of a building site and you could only see the bridge by leaning against one side of the window. I think that advertising these rooms as 5 star with a bridge view for that amount of money is outrageous. Disappointing that lashing out for a family night out was not as luxurious as we expected.

This was our first stay in this hotel and it was largely a very positive experience. We enjoyed a Bridge View room on an upper floor. While it is the case that building demolition was taking place directly opposite our room, this did not negatively impact our stay and the view of the bridge, although it required looking sideways out the window, was quite appealing. We found the room clean and well-equipped. Owing to Covid restrictions there was no mini-bar and limited reading material. We did feel that more information, for example regarding room service, could have been provided on the TV, though we eventually found a QR code that provide the relevant information. We found the breakfast very satisfying with a good range of food to choose from and very tasty made-to-order omelettes. We were a little disappointed that the Three Bottle Man bar had very restricted opening hours. There seemed to be very limited options for an after-show drink inside the hotel. Nevertheless, the service overall was very good and the location, a short walk from Circular Quay and the Opera House is excellent. We look forward to staying there again

This is not the best hotel experience, I would give an average. Firstly, the good part is the room on arrival was simple and clean and with a nice view of the Sydney Opera House. Hotel bathroom was clean and nice, but it could be better. I found the bathroom layout was on poorly planned, as we find it really annoyed when there was insufficient storage for us to put amenities. From the shower room, not giving enough thought to the location of accessories such as towel rails/ hook hangers. There are few unpleasant experiences that we had here. 1. FOOD POISONING My partner got FOOD POISONING from the dining services he ordered. He got really bad diarrhea and lasted for more than 2 days (still going on), meaning he couldn't attend the conference (which is the reason why we came to Sydney and booked the hotel in the first place!) He was informed that the operation manager would contact him on the day we notified the hotel. But we heard no one until TWO days later. 2.The food tray WAS NOT CLEARED (the one he got food poisoning). It was left at room hall way and left it uncollected until next evening. Whenever we walked by to the elevator, we can still see that food tray that reminded my partner of that unpleasant meal experiences, did not make his stomach feel better. 3. Poor COMMUNICATION between the staffs and departments! We sent a shirt for hotel laundry services and we were told it would be ready in the next day. Next day 9.30pm, we asked receptionist about the shirt, she told us it was already sent it back to our room. We checked and it was not there. We called housekeeping and been waiting for more than an hour to hear it back from them. They told us they will send the shirt right it back to us. I waited til 12am , I heard no one and I HAVE TO CALL AGAIN IN THE MORNING 1030am and chase / remind them again!!

Stayed here during Vivid. Couldn't fault it! Location is perfect, 2min walk to Circular Quay and 5minutes to the Rocks. Got 2 x double beds and we all slept like baby. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Room was clean and great views of the harbour bridge and the city lights. Breakfast was good and service was excellent. Definitely a 5 star hotel experience. Well done Marriott! 👏 Will return again and will recommend to others.

Rooms and the hotel structure are all aged and a bit tired. A bed with peaks and valleys may not comfort you enough to sleep through the night. You will experience slow lifts that randomly reset themselves refusing to take you to your floor. Also, calling a lift takes forever. The hotel management should open the staircases for everyone. It would be quicker to walk down 15 floors than wait for an overloaded lift and you may need to wait for the next one because there is no room anyway. Don't plan anything without a 15-20 minutes lift delay buffer... It is a major pain. Prompt service. Great food for a conference. Perfect location. Breakfast is decent. Espresso coffee order not always there when you need it. Staff can be forgetful about your simple coffee order. My room had an average random street view, but not everyone is getting the opera house picturesque panorama from their small room window... Also, I hear that my view was a decent one in comparison with an alleyway or a construction crane view also available...

Nice hotel in a very good place into the Sidney best area with access to anywhere. Service was very good and the breakfast is awesome! Everyone was so nice and respectful! The only problem is the elevator, don't know why but always take to long.

I stayed here in April 2023 on Level 29. The room was very quiet and has a great view of the Harbour Bridge and to the west of the bridge. The hotel is very convenient if you want to go to The Rocks, Circular Quay or the CBD itself. Trains, light rail and ferries are only a few minutes walk away. The service at front desk and in the restaurant was very good. The food and service at the breakfast buffet was great too. My only complaint was the musty/damp smell on Level 29. If it wasn't like that I would give it 5 stars.

Was welcomed by Trang who was absolutely lovely. Our room was nice could have been larger as I was with 3 people. The bathroom was rather small too. Beds were not so comfortable and I did not like the pillows, but that’s up to the individual I presume. View was nice however you had to go to the side of the window to see the bridge view otherwise straight on was buildings, but couldn’t complain, as I was offered an upgrade. Went to dinner and had a great waiter named Lewis. The entree was lovely but the main meal was awful. Not much selection either. $71 for 2 courses $81 for 3 courses. The dinner was very A la Carte. Too trendy for my liking as I had lamb and it was so rare and the others had the duck, rare too. We didn’t like the taste at all. However, the breakfast was fantastic. A lot of selection being hot breakfast and continental. Very handy to Circular Quay and Sydney Harbour and I found all the staff friendly and wonderful. The staff actually made my stay very pleasant.

The hotel itself isn’t the best. The location is absolutely great and in a fantastic spot. Also, the lounge and breakfast area was very welcoming. The elevators are EXTREMELY slow. I had to wait around 10 minutes for one to arrive which is also a big safety hazard. The breakfast buffet was rather miserable. I asked three times for a cappuccino until finally it arrived. The waiters weren’t professional at all either. The tables in the breakfast room were so closely together you couldn’t get past and with no privacy and people near you hearing your conversation. The most disgusting thing was the recreational level of the hotel at level 4. It was not renovated at all and it was old, the water in the pool was FREEZING COLD. The spaces were extremely small and there were only 5 beds to rest on. There was nothing to refresh people like bottled water. Also, the sauna area was very old and dirty. To be Marriott, I would have expected better since it’s a very big and popular chain around the world. But the position it is in is the best. It really is and I really recommend it. But for the price I payed, I won’t be coming back.

Not a lot to complain about at all! Overall we had a great stay! The staff where the true highlight of the stay! Extremely friendly, welcoming and informative! They where what made it a great stay! The affordability for such a prime location was excellent, the room was neat and tidy nothing too fancy or special but it wasn’t bad! The buffet breakfast was a stand out aswel! Extremely friendly staff and delicious fresh food! The eating area was also impressive! Ultimately I can highly recommend the Marriott for a short stay in the city! Well worth the money! Had to be a 5/5 stars from me!

It’s a “5 star hotel” yet the rooms are that of a cheap hotel, no parking on site. Parking available down the street is upwards of $180 per night. The food was average at best. Upon arrival they asked us to pay for our stay in full which we had already done over the phone two days earlier, so we couldn’t understand why we were being charged again, apparently they accidentally charged us $1000 instead of $100 for the security deposit so they refunded the full amount so we needed to pay again, we checked out bank statement and have not received that refund we were told to “take it up with our bank”. The most pleasant experience for us was leaving the lobby.

First time staying with this brand. It was a fantastic experience. Despite some minor confusion regarding total bill, the service provided was fantastic throughout. This hotel is in a really good location. If you are travelling via Train Link or a Sydney Trains service from airport, simply use a city circle service and alight at Circular Quay; hotel is walking distance from station. This is a great hotel to consider for location and price point. Our accommodation included daily breakfast, which was of restaurant quality.

Such a beautiful hotel with super friendly hospitality! Great food! The saunas are open late which has been a wonderful warm up and relaxing experience at the end of a long day exploring the city. There is public transportation super close by and lots of yummy eats within walking distance. The entire hotel smells amazing and everything is very clean and well kept. We stayed for 9 days and enjoyed it immensely! The view was spectacular!

A 5 star hotel with a genuinely 2 star experience… waited over an hour for check in (with no apology) only to find out room wasn’t ready (despite being past 4pm) and then wasn’t even shouted a drink while waiting a further hour in the bar for the room key. The duty manager needs to seriously consider if they are in the right profession if they consider this reasonable service.

Lovely experience. Close to Circular Quay and the Rocks. Really close to public transport: Train, light rail and Ferry. We found the room excellent and service friendly. We had breakfast included in our booking and it was buffet style and very nice. View wasn't "crash hot", but we didn't come to Sydney from regional NSW to sit in our room looking at views 😁

Very nice hotel in a great location. My room was very nice and very comfortable. It has been mostly updated, and my only complaint is the lack of electrical outlets near the bed. Close walk to multiple restaurants and two subway lines. I will definitely stay here again.

Solid 4 stars, room was decent quiet and comfortable although showing signs as aging. Executive lounge was basic. Elevators are very slow, such that you’ll be warned about them at check-in. Excellent location.

This hotel and its staff was impeccable! Daniel at the front desk was incredibly friendly and had a wealth of knowledge to share about where to visit and what to see. Daniel was a great first impression - Marriott is lucky to have him. The executive lounge was also impressive - a very large spread for breakfast and dinner. I highly recommend.

Very disappointed with their rooms and customer service. I believe even 3 star hotels would have better facilities than Marriott. imagine the standard if you are calling house keeping to inform bathroom has no toilet paper and they would say oh sorry due to renovations happening around maybe it got missed, lol. Parking is an additional big issue for the hotel which is extremely inconvenient for their customers. Feels like they are losing their legacy even on cents. Definitely not worth it.

I was underwhelmed with this hotel. Its an old property, next to noisy construction site, with a poor elevator system. There was a stain on my sheets. Explore other options in the area which you will find will have better service, views and are more up-to-date.

Old property, next to noisy construction site, with a poor elevator system that takes forever and is noisy as well. Had to also follow up to get an invoice, which I had been assured had been sent to my email. There are other options in the area which have better service, views and are more up-to-date.

Excellent location for visiting the city, within walking distance of all the major things you'd want to see as a tourist, but also not far from the business district as well. The hotel itself is also very well done, with nice touches that you'd expect from a high quality establishment, although the rooms aren't particularly big. I appreciated the executive lounge, which isn't quite as nice as those found in Asia, but still offered good service and a decent breakfast.

  • 5/5 Michael A. 8 months ago on Google
The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. The gym was nice with lots of options. The breakfast was amazing. However the elevator system was being updated and was terribly slow. Otherwise 5 stars!

We walked here off of a cruise ship. This property is just blocks from the cruise terminal. The lobby, to me, is a little small for the size of the property, but we checked in without an issue. As we waited, another member of our group discussed some things with the Concierge, who was VERY helpful with not just places in the immediate area, but in the city, as well. The only wrinkle was the elevators. One is blocked off, and from my personal observation, another was out. 3 lifts were left, and they were VERY busy. Signs were up telling guests to prepare, so that was something, but we never observed work on the out-of-service lifts. When we made it to our room, we were pleased. The shower was exceptional (especially after being on a cruise ship for 18 days). The room had plenty of room and storage. Internet worked well for streaming on the TV (easy to set up on your device). We purchased lounge access, so we made our way there to look around. Beer, liquor, and wine are complimentary (but don't be stupid), the food was laid out nicely with an incredible selection, and staff made sure to clean up very quickly when a dish was dirty. Staff was also helpful with general questions about the property and there is also a Mac and PC connected to a printer in the corner. VERY nice area down here! Checkout was again easy, we were out in no time, cabs are typically available as they queue close to the entrance. We opted for an Uber to the airport and they were there quick quickly. This property is close to plenty of shopping and food choices. This is an incredible property for cruisers, first time visitors to Sydney, or even for business meetings. The Concierge desk is among the best I've ever used, and the staff is amazing. Finish the elevator maintenance, and I wouldn't have a thing to complain about!

This hotel deserves high marks for its inviting lobby and amazing buffet style breakfast. Staff were always helpful and friendly and the food quality (including the coffee) was amazing. The location is also excellent if you want to be within walking distance of the harbor. The rooms are okay. Our bed was comfortable and the amenities were good (coffee, tea, water, toiletries). We had a view of the bridge and of the construction across the street (note that we didn't hear any unreasonable construction noise). The shower had a lot of mold especially on the caulking around the door. This isn't acceptable at a 5-star hotel. If we had stayed longer I would have requested a room change.

  • 4/5 Will H. 5 months ago on Google
Great location for tourists or anyone doing business in the city. Staff were excellent. Breakfast buffet was also good. I would avoid staying here until they fix the lifts - spending 10 minutes in a hot and sweaty lift while more people try and cram on is nobody's idea of fun. Watch out for extra charges after you've left - apparently they stock every room (except mine) with a power adapter, and if housekeeping don't see it, they assume you've taken it and will charge you for it. No email/call to confirm first.

Wondering if it's just a thing in Sydney but what's up with the old mattresses where you fall into previous guests body imprint? Although the service was great and desirable location, the rooms were dated and could use renovating. We wanted the opera house view, but it's pretty far away so really not worth the additional cost.

Great hotel with friendly and attentive staff who will go to great lengths to ensure your stay is comfortable. The room service is delicious and comes in huge portions. The bar down stairs had a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The only thing I disliked was the lifts. In the morning and afternoon, you can sometimes wait up to 30 minutes, and with no one there to coordinate it, people push in or don't let you in the lifts. The lift situation was a huge problem for me and my colleagues. If you get the right room, you get one of the best views of the Harbour Bridge.

We recently had a nine night stay using only Bon Voyage points. Soon after arrival we knew we made the right choice. We arrived at 9 am after a red eye flight. Although a room was not available, we were given keys to an early arrival suite. We were able to take showers and change clothes, then stored our luggage at reception. The room was great, with a view of the Opera House and harbor. The Executive Lounge had great breakfast choices and variety every day. The evening food and drink options were always good and served as our dinner 8 of 9 nights. The location was amazing, only a five minute walk to the Circular Quay and the ferries, trains, trams and buses. We went to a performance at the Sydney Opera House which was less than a 15 minute walk away. The Concierge staff gave excellent suggestions and was always helpful.

Great location but the elevators need to be fixed asap. During peak hours, expect a 10 minute wait and stops at every floor. It’s best to take the stairs down if you are in a hurry.

Very nice hotel. As you expect for a Marriott. Our room had a wonderful view of the Opera House. Comfortable beds, pillows, sheets. Close by to all sorts of different restaurants and pubs. Service is good

You claim i stayed. Maybe you should have let me know. You obviously purchased my details from somewhere to send the request to me. Pathetic way to get a review. I give reviews to places i want to without being asked. However i can say in all honesty i have done work at a Marriott Hotel..."not as a guest",and what was seen has to be the biggest rat i have ever seen. Thank you for sending me this request. Doubt you will allow me to post it

On arrival I was greeted and checked in by the lovely Karol. She was energetic and an asset to have on the front desk. Aimee was amazing too as she knew me from the last time I stayed. Beds are always great and Aimee and Karol gave me an unexpected upgrade to the opera room which was a delight and one that I appreciate very much. Pool was also a bit warmer than previous stay however lifts do take some time still due to the one elevator still being in repair. Hopefully that'll get fixed soon. Still an amazing stay would happily stay again. Anniversary amenity was tasty and a nice treat as well!

We had coffee at the outlet downstairs. We were seated at the lobby lounge and ordered more from the bar . Obviously, we stayed longer than anticipated as the coziness of the lounge was very relaxing. Will make a point to check in the rooms on our next visit to Sydney.

Friendly and comfortable hotel with a breakfast buffet the kids are asking to come back to again! The room was comfortable for a family of 4 with two large-ish double beds (though why the extra long pillows was a mystery). Tried the pool which was a touch on the cold side for the kids, but the gym was really good

  • 5/5 Medina P. 10 months ago on Google
It's the best hotel to spend the weekend or holidays with your friends. If you upgrade your room to the opera house you can also get access to the executive lounge. The view from there is also beautiful, and instantly you will feel relaxed while seeing the view. You can also see the sunrise and sunset from there. My friends and I had a great time there.

We stayed 2 nights, in an executive room with club access, during Vivid. The location is fantastic and can’t be beat. It is so close to Circular Quay and the Trams that take you all around the city. We had an amazing view towards the Opera House which wasn’t utilised properly as the bed was on the opposite wall so our view was of buildings. The room was fine but the bathroom was overdue a renovation. Check in was slow and we had to wait in lines with our luggage. One lift was broken so it took ages to come and go especially on check out. Way too many people crammed into the lifts. The club room was nice and the selection of foods and drinks were good but below standard for the price. We were told if we ate breakfast in the busy main dining room we would have to pay extra. We have never had to do that at other hotels. Overall we enjoyed the location of the hotel for seeing Vivid. So did a lot of other people. So if this location is not important there are plenty of other nicer hotels in Sydney to stay for the price.

Very busy hotel, full of retired American tourists. A lift ride can take ages. However, service is professional, Australian hospitality at its finest. Great views and ideal location.. definitely pricey though

Great 3 night stay! Super friendly and informative staff. We were upgraded to a room with a view to the opera house and access to the executive lounge. The room is a little tight for 3 people but clean. Housekeeping was also very good in responding to our request. Location is perfect, close walking to major attractions, public transportation, and many restaurants.

Stayed here for 4 nights, everything was great 👌 My room was upgraded to Opera House view and I enjoyed sunrise every morning! Laundry and Room service were just fine, no issues or delays. Lounge was good, average across all Marriott hotels 👍 Building seems to be old (like every building in downtown), but no issues with that. Interior is fresh and nice looking 🙌

Excellent location in the middle of everything. Good pool but the best is they have 2 saunas! Rooms starting to look dated but the staff more than makes up for it, everyone had a smile and were very patient. Special mention to Karol to make my stay better

Overall an excellent stay at the Sydney Harbour Marriott! You cannot beat the location. The rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Our sole complaint was the elevators took quite some time during rush & the executive lounge is only open in the evenings. Be sure to get the inclusive breakfast. Worth every penny for the fresh eggs, fruit, pastries, and overall abundant spread.

Phenomenal team Winnie, Jessica, and P. at the front desk goes above and beyond without you having to ask. Barbara checked us in with ease. Best of all Honey did an exceptional service recovery today. Amazing team! Vegas level service, frictionless, warm and kind. Highly recommend the people/team. Looking forward to my entire stay more weeks with these fine folks make everything better. Marriott brand is well represented here.

It's a 5 star hotel but the decor of our room was dated. Not quite up to the latest 5 star styling. A bit bland decor, especially the hallways and lighting. Very clean though. Excellent service. We had twin double bed room that was smaller than expected and expensive for what you get . We chose it because of its location and view of harbour bridge and that's what you pay for. Unbeatable 5 min walk to Circular Quay and heart of Sydney tourist area. Be warned, currently as of August 2022 there is major construction opposite that is noisy. Overall we love it but will probably try for more luxurious rooms.

Definitely not the bonvoy service standard. We are on a road trip and stayed here a night. Firstly, parking is ridiculously priced at $80 a day. For a 1 night stay it was $160 for parking! Plus the cost of the room? I could have easily stayed somewhere else. Valet parking also doesn’t exist, only self parking. Secondly, when we arrived the doorman just stood there. Didn’t ask if we were checking in, etc until we opened the boot then he saw the bags and helped. Checking out, we had to load all our bags into the car ourselves. Not a concierge or doorman in sight. Thirdly, the service staff (with empty hands) at breakfast walked pass our tables 3 times and didn’t clear our plates when the kids have clearly finished their breakfast. Not attentive at all. Feels like a training ground for Marriott staff. Notable items: We got a nice view of the Opera House, breakfast had a good spread and I could pack some snacks and juices for the kids and a trail mix for the road. Executive Lounge and Welcome platter for Titanium Elites. Rooms like what everyone else mentioned are a little dated (if you mind, we didn’t) but clean.

We stayed here on a weekend getaway to Sydney. The hotel is as you would expect from Marriott hotel. It was clean, upscale but wasn't anything special. The room was neat, clean and had all the expected amenities but everything was basic and you can tell the room is starting to age. The views from the room were amazing. We were lucky enough to be on the 27th floor facing the Harbour Bridge and I think this made the stay worth it. The location was excellent with easy access to public transport and numerous food options surrounding the hotel. As such we did not eat at the hotel restaurant so I cannot comment on this aspect. The service was good as expected. The staff we dealt with were attentive and helpful. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and I would recommend it to people who are looking for a clean room in a great location but if you're looking for something luxurious maybe look elsewhere.
