500 acres of incredible space for the most amazing art experience. 1) We took the hop-on-hop-off tram which was great - or you can also bike around. 2) There’s also a different tram that has a wonderful narration on board explaining all the various art pieces. At different times 11.15 am, 2.15 pm, 3 pm & 4 pm. 3) We loved the walking tour (at 1 pm) which focuses on the art pieces at the museum/visitor center on top of the hill. A must-see experience!!

Great experience for the family. Nice vibes all around. All the employees we spoke to were friendly. Sculptures from small to HUGE, even some interactive. Nice easy walk. There are some nice trail options as well or simply walk the open field to some amazing pieces. Two draw backs to Storm King: Only one indoor restroom area by the indoor museum (all others are port-a-potty). And the Cafe was expensive for very basic food. Neither ended up deterring us from any fun as we mapped out our walk to hit the museum right before lunch. Which we also brought our own food to picnic outside. Plenty of benches, tables, beautiful sights, walking space, bicycle rentals, a tram for easier transportation throughout the park. Just a great way for the family to combine a museum and a park visit in one outing.

Nice way to spend a day with family. Biking would have been a great way to see the whole park. Walked 3 miles and didn't see it all! Some uneven ground, hills, and distances would be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. Also, not much shade in some wide open areas. Overall, a beautiful setting with interesting pieces of art!

We went during a weekday and we arrived a little after 10:00am. It wasn't busy and we had three little, kids with us. The toddlers loved running around and exploring. The adults loved the fresh air, art, and letting the kids tire themselves out. I personally really liked the art and the upkeep of the land. This place is really awesome. My only constructive criticism would be that some of the art was very spread out. I understand that you have to make room for new art, so that didn't affect my rating. We will be back!

Great sculpture park. It will be better to come here in Fall. Just too hot in summer. You can rent a bike, but the it’s not always easy to ride on a rugged terrain. There is an out door cafe where they have simple meals and drinks. Vending machines are your good friend. The best way to visit the park is driving. Prepare your own food and picnic in the beautiful landscape would be a great idea.

Storm King Sculpture Garden is a mesmerizing outdoor art haven. It's a symphony of nature and creativity, with monumental sculptures gracefully blending into the landscape. The sheer scale of the artworks is awe-inspiring, as they punctuate the rolling hills and verdant meadows. The garden offers a unique sensory experience with each visit, be it the play of light and shadows or the changing seasons' impact on the sculptures. It's a sanctuary for art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, a place to wander, reflect, and connect with art on a grand scale. A must-visit for anyone seeking inspiration and serenity in the Hudson Valley.

The beautifully maintained grounds are enough to bring me back here. The sculptures are pretty neat but you can just sit in one place and chill out for a couple hours with your lunch. When you arrive at the parking lot you might be concerned about crowds but the property is so large that you may in fact not even see other people depending on where you walk. I can't figure out what took me so long to visit this place.

Visited this Art Center on a warm August weekend and already planning another visit in the Fall. This place is perfect for those admirers of landscape and art. It is also handicapped friendly (on the paved paths), stroller friendly (perfect for families!), and a perfect spot for a romantic date. I would recommend wearing comfortable shoes, a hat and sunglasses for when the sun is out. Take advantage of the trolley (provided by the Center for free) that runs every hour to see some of the areas where the sculptures are, and then head over to a bike rental kiosk and explore at your own leisure. Water fountain to refill your reusable containers is located by the museum center. Enjoy!

Such a unique experience! It’s about $23 per person to get in, but if you have 3 or more people in your car, it’s about $65 for all of you, I believe. You can rent a bike to see the 500 acres, and it’s about $30 for 2 hours, with a 2-hour minimum for the rental. It was hot today, but the staff was so nice and accommodating. It would be nice if they had water fountains around and if the trams would come more often, but other than that, it was great. You have to wait every half hour for a tram. It would be nicer to take the tour. I wanted to learn more about the pieces of art. They have an elevator to take you to the higher section and a gift shop, as well as restrooms. None of the soap was working in the restrooms though. We got tons of sunlight, fresh air and exercise, and I heard they’re open in the winter too.

Add this to your list of must see places. We had perfect weather at Storm King. The entire center is well maintained and gorgeous. We had a great experience with a gentleman on staff showing and explaining some of the more hidden nature pieces.

Such a lovely place. These sculptures are amazing and very diverse. So easy to spend an entire day here just roaming around having a lovely picnic and just enjoying all of the art and views.

An amazing experience of seeing installations spread across in a way that each one has its own setting in the huge open space. There are various options available to choose from walking to bike rentals. There is also a tram ride which takes you along the route to see most of the installations. It takes around 1 hour but is a great one on a super hot day. It stops for 5 min at few of the sites. You cannot take dogs along with you but a service dog is available so plan it accordingly. Also, there is a semi covered cafe available which has ready to eat sandwitches and drinks. The museum/ visitor centre has an interesting collection of books and varied gifting options. Highly recommend this place.

It's a large open area with lots of art sculptures that are massive. The best way to get here is to drive. Tickets can be pretty pricey but there is a good amount to do and see. It can be a lot of fun for the whole family. Also check your local public library, they tend to have pass that you can rent out that grants you free admissions. The center has a few local tours daily where they take you around the whole park in a trolly and explain some of the history and works as you pass them. You can walk the whole park but if you are not as able, they have trollies that run in a loop and pick up and drop off at designated stops.

Real gem in Upstate New York. We discovered this accidentally, which is to say there is not much going around advertising it. But once we found it, we decided to visit and see the sculptures. It is amazing. You can also do picnic there of course at the designated places. Great for kids, youngsters and adults of all ages. Good hiking grounds and great natural views with the addition of the beautiful sculptures. But if you get tired, you can take a shuttle. Highly recommend this for a nice relaxing family weekend when nothing else major is planned. Maybe avoid major holidays, the place may be short on parking.

Beautiful grounds and amazing sculptures. It’s a hike so wear comfortable shoes but it’s one of those great venues where you can’t see everything in one trip. I’m excited to go again and rent bikes to bike around the grounds.

Absolutely gorgeous place, but you already knew that. It's taken me decades to finally make it here (no idea why). Do not hesitate like I did! I cannot wait to get back next time and see the spaces evolve. There is so much incredible artwork here, it will take several trips to really appreciate it all. Went on a Monday and didn't have any issues with crowds or anything. Was alone in the woods with these works more often than not. Incredibly peaceful and powerful experience.

A great place to spend the afternoon. You can bring your own picnic. The food options are limited. A huge, beautiful property with places to hike in the woods as well as stay in open areas. Trams run constantly or you can rent bikes. Highly recommended. Awesome sculptures, some breath-taking.

Love this out door art center, if you have a car and am in the area, it’s worth stopping by Corporate discount doesn’t work here anymore so the entrance fee for adult is 23 each, children under 5 is free. I think there is group discount. The center is huge, and there is a tram to take you a round, that tram ends at 3:30 in the winter. Beautiful design and architecture friendly for anyone at any age

Storm King Art Center is much more beautiful than I expected! The landscape is carefully crafted to accentuate the sculpture. It is by no means a piece of barren land strewed with sculptures. We happened to be there on a day with clear blue sky so the photos came out really nice. Besides the beautiful sculptures, we also love the wild flowers meadows and the rock garden display. We ran out of time so we didn’t get the chance to hike around the streams surrounding the landscape, which has uncovered significant archeological artifacts. The only downside is that it is a bit far from NYC and we ran into bad traffic on the way back. There are sufficient parking spaces. The space is huge. Set aside 5 hours to see all parts of it or you can rent a bike.

Such an interesting place, and one of three largest sculptural art centers in the world. The audio tour goes along great so be sure to do that before your adventure. Gorgeous scenery with amazing art. Definitely worth the visit, and don't even realize you're getting in miles of walking too. I did 4 miles!

Great place to visit! I would definitely recommend it for a family visit. Use the Tram to get a view of most of the artwork and then stop at the one you love the most. There were a lot of people, but it's so spread put you don't feel like it's crowded. It's definitely worth the visit. They also have bile rentals of various kinds if you don't want to walk

A must see excursion if you’re visiting upstate New York. It’s a massive sculpture park with extremely well kept lawns and pathways. Perfect date idea or lovely picnic with friends. The groundskeepers are so nice and helpful too.

For $23/person, this was one of the best outdoor experiences for fall. I went twice already it’s So clean, respectful employees, amazing art and a great view. You can come here as long as you want as long as you check in at your appropriate time. Would absolutely come back a third time

What a cool place. 500 acres of relaxing scenery with sculptures randomly placed. It took several hours to walk all the paths. They ran out of maps so make sure you print one before going just in case. Next time I’ll rent a cart and driver and just enjoy the place without so much walking. Lots of rolling hills. A good time regardless!

Beautiful space with a well curated sculpture selection. It’s nice to experience these pieces in an environment that sets them off and at the same time can absorb them. Advisable to download the app and the map in advance and plan your visit a bit. I wouldn’t bother renting a bike, I did and was sorry that I did. The first bike, seat kept falling down or twisting around, on the second one the seat tilted backwards and forwards. Waste of money and possibly dangerous. I think that this is walkable unless you are seriously pressed for time

Storm King Art Center makes for a great day trip that isn't too far if you are visiting from NYC. It is a perfect getaway for couples, friends, or even alone to enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the many sculptures scattered around. The area is massive and clean - be prepared to walk a lot. Alternatively you can rely on the tram service which departs around 6 locations every hour. There are picnic tables around so definitely take advantage of those and bring your own water as the vending machines we found were empty of water. There are also water bottle refill stations scattered around. If you play Pokemon Go there are a few stops and gyms scattered around 😉 Although there were a lot of people during our visit the place is very big so it never felt crowded. Only gripe is the poor refund policy as tickets are non-refundable and the place is open rain or shine.

Beautifully manicured sprawled outdoor museum. So much to see but lack of shade and adequate water station made our day too hot to enjoy. Great place for a family trip or if you are riding solo. Bring water and comfy shoes to enjoy the walk. Better yet, rent a bike, pack a picnic and look for a comfy tree to shade under. We will definitely come back when the weather is more kind.

Perhaps the most sensational collection of sculptures in the country. The art is spectacular but the beautiful upstate landscape really did it for us. Would love to return and rent bicycles or attend an event (like an outdoor movie screening). Wonderful even in the rain. We recommend spending a few hours here. And bring good walking shoes.

Really nice and somewhat unique place to visit. Lots of space to move around, great scenery, interesting and diverse art spread all around. Went in early October 2023 and leaves hadn't changed too much yet, but probably beautiful to visit in almost any season due to trees, hills, mountain views. Entry cost might be a little steep for some people, but it seems worth it.

This place is beautiful. Even if, like myself, you don't attend for the sculptures it is worth the price of admission. Over 500 landscaped acres that are beautifully maintained with a variety of walking trails, a gift shop, museum, and rest rooms located thru out the grounds.

Wow! An awe inspiring outdoor sculpture park. Take the free trolly/train guided tour for a good look at many of the park’s sculptures. Then take the time to wander around. An amazing place for a picnic amongst some of art’s sculpture giants.

Excellent selection of large modern art pieces. Best to plan for a cool day, as there's a lot of walking and being out of doors. Worth it if you love the large artworks.

  • 5/5 Nadia J. 11 months ago on Google
The art installations were beautiful and thought provoking, and the landscape is gorgeous and thoughtfully maintained. We had a lovely time wandering, including the three year old in our party who said he liked the "big art". Pathways were all accessible, save for a few off-the-paved-trail pieces, which still had wide, well maintained dirt paths. Toilet facilities were port a potties, which were clean.

  • 3/5 Carmine B. 11 months ago on Google
Easy to get to from manhattan-one hour flat. Definitely not a cheap day. Entrance for two($46), food at the cafe ($60) and renting the bikes ($60). With that said, takes a lot to maintain such a huge landscape abs artwork. I’m not a modern art kind-of-person, but my wife is. If you are like me, make sure to have someone with you that can explain and interpret the art. Worth a day trip, but I would bring your own picnic basket as the frowns are beautiful..

  • 5/5 john s. 9 months ago on Google
Awesome place that is well worth the admission. Comfortable walking paths that you could easily eat up half a day enjoying the sights. They also have a tram that goes around with an audio tour of the highlights. There are also constantly evolving displays besides the ones that have been here for years. I took some elderly with me and they enjoyed the tram and comfortable walking paths. They also have a few days of free admission if your budget is tight.

Magical place filled with large and larger sculpture. There is a team and a self-guided tour option. Great place for a walk, or a alfresco meal from home or the cafe. The only bathroom facilities that are not porta potties are located near the museum gift shop at the top of the hill

  • 5/5 ESB N. 10 months ago on Google
I went with a member, so our entry was free, not sure what the typical price is but I’m sure it’s on their website. This is a sprawling art park, I believe 500 acres or more with interesting and lovely large scale sculptures spread across the campus. There is a tram service that is included with your admission and I recommend it because you will be exhausted from walking across the entire facility. We were lucky to go on a weekday, so there were not too many people, I understand it gets quite crowded on weekends. There is a mansion at the center that has a handful of artworks inside and a small gift shop. There is a vending machine for water and other drinks at the base of the elevators near the mansion. The grounds keepers, do a lovely job, maintaining the rolling fields and meadows, it is a very peaceful place and if you are able to bring a picnic, you can have a great day there.

One of a kind experience ..The exhibits were placed at long distances apart... So, be ready to walk around a lot. It takes time to see all the exhibits..Make sure to skip your daily morning walk on the day of your visit..You will be able to walk at least 4 miles looking around 😁.. Jokes apart, the place was really cool..I visited the place especially to see 'the suspension ' exhibit..it was as cool as seen in the pictures

Our day at Storm King was nothing short of exceptional. As we strolled through the park, we were greeted by an awe-inspiring array of sculptures. From the colossal, abstract works that seemed to dominate the very landscape to the subtle elegance of the dry stone walls, every piece had a unique charm that captivated our gaze. The park itself, nestled within stunning natural surroundings, added to the magic of the experience. We were fortunate to visit on a sunny, nearly cloudless day, with a brilliant blue sky providing the perfect backdrop. The sight of tall grasses swaying in the gentle breeze, accompanied by the chorus of crickets, created a tranquil atmosphere that made our visit truly memorable. There were numerous highlights during our visit, but a few pieces stood out in particular. The ‘Storm King Wavefield’ seemed like a work of art and nature in perfect harmony, a testament to human creativity and the power of the natural world. The ‘Three-Legged Buddha’ brought a sense of serenity and contemplation, contrasting beautifully with the dynamic sculptures around it. And ‘For Paul’ left a lasting impression, resonating with emotions that words can hardly describe. In conclusion, our visit to Storm King was a remarkable journey through the world of sculpture and nature’s beauty. From the grandeur of the sculptures to the serene park surroundings, it was a perfect day out. Each piece of art left us with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the artistic and natural wonders of the world. Storm King is not just an art park; it’s a transformative experience, and we highly recommend it.

We had an amazing time here, a beautiful fall afternoon office outing. Great place to take anyone really. I love that it is structured in different paths, you can take the paved road around, path to different place and even hike the forest and discover great artwork along the way.

It's an art center, but it's also a beautiful park! Storm King Art Center is a great place to enjoy arts and nature, walking and talking together with family, friends, etc! I am happy to live in close (about an hour) to the center. Especially, I was impressed that every employee I met told me with smile, 'Thank you for coming.' I STRONGLY recommend people to visit Storm King Art Center. I am going to visit here again, hopefully every season.

This place is neat. We enjoyed renting the bikes and riding around the center for two hours enjoying the views and sculptures and frankly the energy of this place. After our ride, we went to the museum and checked out the exhibitions. Bring a picnic and enjoy lunch in any one of the picnic areas or even under one of the many beautiful trees in the center. This place is a little pricey but it was worth it for us. We had a wonderful time.

What a wonderful outdoor museum! This a great trip for a day trip as a school. It is about 45/50 min out of East Harlem, NY. There is a tram that takes you on a driving tour of the museum highlights. You can also rent bikes. The loop is about 3.5mi of walking. Some pieces are interactive. I would highly recommend visiting early-mid Fall and mid Spring.

  • 5/5 Elias G. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to spend a long day! There is a lot of ground to cover if you want to see all of the art work. There are areas to sit and relax which makes this a nice day trip location. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it did not feel busy.

Had a great time. A lot of walking . But there are 3 places that have bathrooms. Total plus for me. Outdoor Cafe has a small menu but the food was really good. Oh, they don't take cash only cards The staff was great, if you get time go see Storm King, the art is beautiful, and the views are great too.

  • 5/5 Rebecca T. 2 years ago on Google
My friends and I have been taking road trips to sculpture parks all year, and Storm King did not disappoint. The grounds were wonderful to walk through on their own, and the art added an extra sense of beauty and enjoyment. I second reviewers saying to wear comfy shoes, it's more like going for a casual hike with some inclines and walks through the woods. Make sure you also bundle up on cooler days; once the sun starts setting it gets chilly fast, but you don't want to leave before you've seen it all!
