I love that the "experience" starts as soon as you get out of the elevator. This was the first time I've experienced an escape room that kept it mysterious like that. I enjoyed the room and even though my husband and I didn't finish it in time, we enjoyed it. The puzzles were clever and the ambiance was an added touch. We chose the haunted hotel and wanted to come back for another room before our trip ended, but the weekend time slots fill up fast. I will definitely be back next time I am in NYC. Best escape room experience I've had.

i thought the haunted hotel was an impressive escape room with intense detail. i liked how it started as soon as you arrive. it was definitely a scare to us when the elevators opened. we went as a group of 10, and they allow up to parties of 10 but honestly there wasn’t enough to do. we did hard mode but i don’t know. 3 of us were kinda just chilling.

Super fun! The experience starts the moment you step out of the elevator. Ryan was a great game host and was super patient with us while we struggled…a bit. Can’t wait to come back!!

This place is awesome! It's one of the most unique escape rooms I've visited. It does an incredible job setting the atmosphere, and the puzzles are interesting and diverse. Also shout out to Ryan who oversaw our game! He sparingly gave us useful hints when we were completely lost, and was super chill at the end in helping us take pictures! Thanks!

My son chose the Haunted Hotel room after searching online for a "scary" 15th birthday escape room experience, so I brought him and three of his friends into Manhattan to BrainXcape. It delivered on a fun way to spend an hour with teens trying to figure out clues and open locks around the room. Fantastically creepy props and decor, excellent clues from our host, and it definitely wasn't easy (we were escape room failures) even though we chose the "easy" level of play. Highly recommend for adults as well as teens (there were some "old school" props they the teenagers didn't understand, so I think they were glad I was there too. Fun night, thank you, BrainXcape!

Me and my family love it here! I love that the experience starts the second you step foot out of the elevator. We’ve done 2/3 rooms here and both times we didn’t make it out but it was okay because it was SO much fun. I love the ambiance and the way the clues don’t give too much away even on the “easier” playing level. Love it here and not to mention Drew was great and made us feel good about losing 😂

The best set I've seen on an escape room - immersive from start to finish and incredibly atmospheric. Clever and logical puzzles with a great flow. Thanks so much to Brion, he was most excellent.

Immersive and spooky from start to (almost) finish! Can’t wait to visit again and complete the Haunted Hotel. Sets, decor, puzzles and props are top notch. Thank you Sawyer for coming to our rescue!

These experiences are full of thrills! Went twice in a period of one month with my friends. The first time we lost terribly so we were determined to finish it the second time around - still lost, but we got through the rooms better - that's on us... We're already talking about a third visit, TBD! Excellent rooms, decor and clues! Love the form of communications that team provides throughout the game and their twisted way of the countdown. Despite the idea of trying to escape these rooms, I almost have the feeling of not wanting to leave because it's that fun!

This was definitely the most immersive escape room I have done - we really felt like a group of prisoners! From start to finish the set design was well thought out. Unfortunately, we got stuck on the subway (which was the scariest event all day) so we only got about 45 minutes in the escape room. Nevertheless, Sawyer did a great job of accommodating us by giving us as much time as possible and had the perfect clues to nudge us on the right path. We'll be back soon to try the Haunted Hotel or one of the new rooms coming soon!!!

BrainXcape has some of the most immersive escape rooms I’ve ever done to date. The puzzles are tied with the props in very unique ways. Sawyer was our game master and he deserves a lot of credit in making the game flow smoothly for us! He had a very professional and friendly personality! From start to finish the entire experience was extraordinarily fun! We’ve done both Rikers and Haunted Hotel and they’re both some of the best rooms in NYC!

Pretty spooky and fun! You definitely need a team to get out. Our guide Sawyer definitely helped us out. It was good to see his friendly face after we finished!

Our office has been wanting to do this for a long time. We finally did it and had a great time. We opted for the easy version and it was still a lovely challenge. It also made us work together which was key. Sawyer was our host and was really good at helping us along when we needed it. I would definitely go again. CKB

SO fun. The experience starts as soon as you get in and is continuously immersive through the end. The staff was friendly and entertaining. We did the haunted hotel room and it was the perfect amount of challenging. There are no jump scares for those wondering :) highly highly recommend

I took my sister here for her birthday! You were immediately immersed into the game as you get off the elevator and the hallway is dark and spooky. I thought the rooms were well decorated. The only thing I wish was that there was like a story like why we are in the hotel etc. it also wasn’t that scary but it was enjoyable and we all loved the TV.

Went with my family. Loved the private experience. Such a thrill ride from the moment the elevator door opens. The sets are truly outstanding in their level of detail. We had a blast and will be back for more!

I had the pleasure of experiencing the escape room two times already (Rikers and Hotel) and it exceeded all of my expectations. The level of detail in the room was impeccable, immersing me into the experience from the moment I walked in. The puzzles were challenging yet solvable with the help of the team. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the whole experience was well-managed. Surely will return there with more friends, coz it's just funny to see how people act in unusual environment from inside. I highly recommend this escape room to anyone looking for a fun, challenging and unforgettable experience!

This was such a great experience! Definitely one of the better escape rooms I've tried. The mood was set upon exiting the elevator into a dark hall with flickering lights, and it just got better from there. I took my team from work (a very smart group), and we successfully escaped the Haunted Hotel with just a minute to spare! Everything was excellently executed and very challenging. Sawyer was a fantastic host and his clues were spot on without giving too much away. I will definitely be back to try the Riker's Island room.

This was my very first time at an escape room, and Sawyer made it so incredibly worth it! Everything felt so detailed and immersive and I can’t wait to go back to do the other room. My adrenaline was PUMPING

Came here with no idea what the experience will consist of. I thought it was going to be a lot scarier, since the entry hall was pitch black, but it was illuminated within the actual rooms. We booked the Haunted Hotel and I'm a scaredy cat, I'm quite happy it wasn't really a huge fright that'll leave me with paranoia for 2 nights. Ryan was our guy for the day, and he was really friendly and helpful at the end with everything. Will be coming back to try the other ones.

Enjoyed the Rikers 1932 experience very much!! The storytelling made you feel like a real character trying to escape. As a party of 5 including a 10 year old we thought the medium difficulty was perfect. From the very beginning of the game, they went all out!!!! We liked the variety in the puzzles. each member was able to contribute according to their strengths!! We will definitely be back to try the other games !!

We have done a number of escape rooms. This one is head-and-shoulders above the rest. We did Riker's Island and can't wait to do the others. Right from the word go, you are immersed in the experience. I don't want to give away too much and ruin any surprises, but you will not be disappointed. Sawyer was a good host and made this a ton of fun. We were able to escape, right under the wire after using only 5 clues. Highly recommended.

Great experience! The ambience begins as soon you enter their waiting area, bringing the spooky vibes immediately. The haunted hotel escape room was well decorated and thought out. A great challenge for our group! Shout out to Lee for making it a super fun time!

This was an amazing experience even entering the waiting area and waiting for our game to begin added to the excitement and ambiance. We chose the escape from Riker’s room. The room itself was so well designed and Brion our game master was a huge help. We arrived much later than our scheduled time but with Brion’s help we’re able to get through most of the puzzles. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to try the other rooms!

This was such a great escape room experience! Very thrilling from the beginning. The music gives the rooms a creepy feel which makes you feel like you’re in a prison cell. Our game host Ryan was great with giving us the perfect amount of clues. I would definitely recommend this escape room to everyone.

Did the haunted hotel room last week for a friend’s birthday in a group of 7 people on medium difficulty. Managed to solve it just in time. Brion was a great host, supplying us with clues just when we needed them. The room is very well done, great design creating a true haunted atmosphere, and a little bit scary, but not too much. Highly recommend!

This was so fun! I really liked the commitment to creating an engaging and immersive experience. We did the haunted hotel and I loved the different stages it took. We were only two people and we did it on medium but were only two clues away from finishing but I’m sure if you did easy or had more people you could solve it. My only complaint would just be to turn on the AC or turn off the heat as it was pretty warm in there.

A great location for our team fun activity. They have multiple rooms to choose from based on the type of experience you prefer. Our room was definitely a challenge, but we were fortunate to solve all the puzzles with just a few minutes to spare. No pictures or recordings are allowed, but they do let you take a group photo at the end. Fun time.

This place was nice and spooky. The clues were only used 3x so got to complete Riker’s Island on hard mode. It was super fun to do with a group of five. Thank you very much, Brion! He was so helpful and kind when needed.

From the start, when we entered the design was very well done and followed the theme of the rooms they were hosting. Our game host was Sawyer and he did a great job facilitating and making sure the experience is emersive and memorable. As our group's first escape room we had some tricky puzzles but it was definitely entertaining and well thought out. Looking forward to the upcoming rooms they have planned and will come back for them.

This was the BEST escape room experience I’ve had! From beginning to end, we felt like we were really in Rikers Island jail. The attention to detail was amazing! I have done several escape rooms and none of them compare to this one! Sawyer is such a great host! We can’t wait to do the haunted hotel on our next trip to NYC!
