I love their cocktails! You can’t go wrong. Tip1:Go there as early as possible, seats are limited. Tip2: Sometimes they open a bit later than the google map hour, be patient. Tip 3: Make sure you are at the right door, there’s another bar beside it and easy to get mixed.

This 'speakeasy' is tucked away in a very historical street in Chinatown. If you don't know much about the history of the street/area, then I'd recommend watching some documentary or specials on it before because it will add to the experience. Even though the cocktail bar doesn't necessarily have anything to do with that history, having a drink at a speakeasy-themed place in that area is cool. I've been wanting to try this place for some time, perhaps years in fact. Finally decided to make it happen. Honestly I was a bit weary of how much it might cost. It's expensive - but the cocktails and atmosphere were worth it. The cocktails are generously sized and high quality. Some suggestions: - expect to spend about $20 per drink (including tip) - if you want a chance at sitting try arriving early, even if you have to wait in line for a few minutes. We got here before open and sat easily. However by the time we had finished our drinks the place was packed and people were circling for our table

Speakeasy vibe in mid of Chinatown. No reservation needed and I went in without waiting. The venue is spacious with many seating options, but I ended up standing at the bar. Diverse menu, bartenders are friendly and super fast. I'm not a cocktail person, and I felt that the drinks were just for the show.

We really wanted to check out a place with fancy cocktails. We came here after having some food and each had two. I wish I could have had more but you know.. alcohol. Their old fashioned is pretty stiff! I try it everywhere because I love them. There are definitely places that make it sweeter.. that's great. The ambience is pretty low light and chill. There is limited seating.

We found this bar online, in an attempt to find a cool speak easy that crafted really good cocktails. I quite literally never thought I would find a place like Apotheke. We spent an entire evening here, ordered almost every cocktail on their menu, purchased the book and still talk about how amazing this place was go this day. Please give it a try.

Can we call the place a speakeasy? Probably yes since it took me some tome to locate the place. The folk guarding the entrance was cool and let me in. Great place, cosy & warm atmosphere where to have some very good drinks. Finally I got an excellent Margarita and the Flor de Luna is something really to taste. Bar tenders were nice, quick and efficient. Try this place. It is great!

Nice bar, cocktails were a bit light but the live band was amazing

Cool vibes but the drinks are $$$ and it can get very loud inside. Fun location in Chinatown and a unique bar that’s worth a visit. Bartenders and staff were really great! The sitting Buddha is a great drink if you’re not looking for anything too strong.

Super cool and chic. Place is very non descript. Inside it's quite small. Not much seating. More about mingling. Bartenders were so friendly and accommodating. I ordered an old fashioned and it was way too strong for me. The bartender saw the displeasure in my face when I took a first sip and offered to make me a new drink. Such a sweetheart. I had the fruity Buddha drink which was great. They don't skimp on the alcohol..drinks are pricey but it's a cool vibe to check one! It was my first time at a speakeasy.

Cool apothecary-themed bar with rock n’ roll vibe and excellent cocktails. Thoughtful, inventive recipes built by attentive staff dedicated to the craft of mixing a bloody good drink. None of the haughtiness that can sometimes affect such places. Add in a diverse crowd, thoughtful design details and live music and it definitely makes this one worth seeking out. Look for the sign with the beaker above the door.

Such an amazing place. Loved the apothecary/pharmacy theme throughout. Really nice cocktails. Our server was super nice. Even gave us some recommendations for late night eats to get some food when we left.

No reservation, just walk ins for this place. Wednesday night has a live jazz band and a burlesque show. There is no extra cover or anything and no sign for it. Place is dark and not very loud so you can still have a conversation with your friends. A few chairs and sofa along the wall as well.

Went with friends after a long day of shopping and seeing a musical- and was re-energized by the vibe. The menu is artfully curated and the bartenders wear pharmacy “uniforms”. Drinks were typical NYC price but unique and worth the experience. Bathrooms were less than impressive and didn’t match the vibe of the bar.

This place is an acquired taste. If you enjoy a lively loud busy somewhat-crammed atmosphere with good quality, although a bit on the sweet side cocktails, then this is the speakeasy for you! On the plus side, at 10pm on a Friday night this place had no line. Overall, the cocktails are yummy, I wish that the music was a bit quieter so that I could have explained to the bartender what I like instead of just ordering off the menu. I’m sure the bartender would have made a good recommendation. The Daisy drink that I ordered was too sweet for me. However the Paid Vacation for delicious!

Great experience trying out this chemistry themed speakeasy in chinatown. The drinks are good. There was live music which was great. Tip - If you want seating come early.

Excellent Speakeasy! It was a little tricky to find, but once we got in, the menu was amazing. Great selection of cocktails and unique combinations. The vibe and atmosphere of the bar was great. I stood at the bar and enjoyed our time there trying 4 different drinks. Each drink was great and different in their own way. Would highly recommend visiting this bar and trying a variety of different drinks as the menu is quite diverse.

I was very impressed with the drinks and the seriousness and coordination of the Staff and Bartender, good and original cocktails, music and Live Dance. nice hidden bar in chinatown. recommended. Also love the vintage decorations.

A mixologist's dream, this place is crafting well made cocktails with flair that hold up in taste. The Dead Poet was my favorite. The decor is dark, textiled, and moody. I found that the music they were playing was very generic club-like and didn't really suit the atmosphere. Was also too loud for what felt like more of a conversation atmosphere. Some reviews mention a dress code, but this didn't seem to be enforced at all at the door. Drinks are $20-25, which is a bit steep so it's a nice spot to start a night out or finish with a nightcap.

Fabulous cocktail bar in Chinatown. We were able to walk right in on a Saturday night ~9pm, though that may be because there was a big winter storm earlier that day. Expect to have to stand for a bit before a table opens up. Lots of unique cocktails on the menu. I liked the Matador, with Tequila, Red Bell Pepper, Cantaloupe and Habanero Tincture.

A friend who lives here wanted to go for ages and was excited to try it with me. He was not disappointed. So I reckon if it lives up to his local standards, that’s even more impressive to me. My take? It felt like a cozy speakeasy that got packed real quick. The drinks were great and the staff were super friendly while juggling a billion orders. The crowd was a perfect blend of people who were laid-back to folks who dressed to impress. The “come as you are” atmosphere was as refreshing as the drinks.

Great speakeasy in China Town to relax and have a drink with friends. There is very little seating, so you will likely be standing in a circle in a corner with your friends. Drinks are unique and tasty.

Great drinks!! Exotic like ive never tried. Also very nice ambience, its hard to spot from the outside because it has no name, but once you’re in, you’re sure its the place. Nicely decorated, and dim lights. We went on a tuesday and there was a band that played at 10:30. It was really awesome, the only thing, very loud. Might be because theres no windows so not much airflow, but at least the band played nicely. Not a cheap experience but worth it anyway.

Apotheke was one of the best and most interesting cocktail lounges I have ever been to. The drinks were extremely top notch and not too expensive, the service was delightful and helpful, and the vibe was amazing. The waitress guided us to make unique choices and each one hit the spot perfectly. It’s tucked back on Dowery in Chinatown and you wouldn’t know it was there if you didn’t know about it. The whole experience was amazing. Will be back for sure.

Great ambiance and concept, especially in this area. Drinks are good but the cocktails aren't as delicious as they are creative. The entrance could be improved so the entire bar doesn't freeze when the door opens and more seating would be appreciated.

One of the coolest cocktail bars I’ve been to in a while. Unique flavor profiles! Get there within 30 min of opening if you want a seat—that’s what we did and had a great experience! If not, you’ll be standing all night.

The signature cocktails served at these establishments are often made with fresh ingredients and unique flavor combinations that cannot be found elsewhere. Whether you're looking for something sweet or savory, there's sure to be something for everyone's taste buds! Additionally bartenders are usually well-versed in mixology so they will know exactly how to make any drink you might requested.

Nice vibe, enjoyed the music, the cocktails were very unique and delicious. However, my friends and I found that the system for ordering and actually getting drinks from the bartenders was haphazard at best if you weren’t sitting and being served by a waitress. It took a few more minutes than probably necessary to get them at the bar, but it eventually worked out.

A really funky speakeasy, would definitely recommend a visit. We were there on a Sunday and there was a really unusual live music session, wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but we enjoyed it! Had a couple of cocktails, a bit on the pricey side, but to be expected in a cool bar in NYC

Amazing place! The drinks are very fancy, very creative, and out of the ordinary also a little more expensive than any other bar/Speakeasy. The bartenders are incredible they ask you about allergies and recommend drinks. Seating is very limited, so it's better to make a reservation.

Speakeasy vibe and cool atmosphere. Bartenders wear white lab coats and create prescription-themed cocktails. Hush, hush place. Don’t knock on the door, stand in small group near entrance but don’t make it too obvious to others that are passing by. Amazing cocktails!

  • 5/5 Rich C. 2 years ago on Google
Such a fun place with absolutely delicious cocktails. The bartenders were so nice and talented and the music was very fun. The only thing is that the bouncer was very rude. Still recommend for some great specialty cocktails!

Visited this place by the recommendation of our NYC guide and were absolutely happy with that Friday nights experience! Id said that Apotheke is nicely hidden gem:) The sign Chemist is the only clue that can help you to find the door to this speakeasy bar. Can’t say anything bad about their stuff. Being dressed in our day casual outfits we were asked only about vaccination and IDs. And after that… only fun! This place is small and cosy, fully packed on Friday night. Not much place to sit but if you really want/need to you will definitely find it bc people constantly move towards bar and back. The interior, light and of course cocktails create amazing atmosphere! Drinks are expensive enough but they worth that money. The mixology is sooo inventive. My taste buds were extremely excited)) My recommendation is Tainted love and my man’s choice was Pink panther. Definitely want to return there in my next trip to NYC💘

A hidden gem! One of the coolest bars we’ve been to, a speak easy vibe with great drinks! Only that it’s way too small and may an outside patio would help

One of my favorite cocktail places in NYC. While the menu has shrunk recently, they still offer a good variety of options. Limited seating but the standing room is usually not too packed.

Nice place and good Music , The waiter was very attentive as soon as we got a table she brought out complimentary shots As for the drinks not my favorite, I found both of the drinks I had to better and spicy can be the drinks I chose but I ask around the table and they said the same thing. As for the place very nice vintage look and surprisingly very spacious. Got a table fairly quickly even without RSVP so that’s cool. Well check it out again.
