My time night in New York. The sights the smells and the culture. I was hyper stimulated by Times Square, the abundance of people, and the sightseeing and grew famished as the day dragged on. Our first night destination for dinner was Carmines. I had been pointed in the right direction by some friends who had visited before. They said the portions were served family style and never disappointed. I can say they were correct. We ordered calamari salad and a few other plates and ended up with too much food to even consider leftovers. These family style meals could feed multiple families with ease. I felt like a made guy sitting and eating in this great atmosphere. Very Tony Soprano. Our servers were delightful and the food came out promptly. The drinks were fantastic. I consider this a must try for anyone visiting the Empire State.

Before you know anything, you should know two things: 1.) you will wait quite a while 2.) the portions are gigantic family style bowls, so you and your people need to be on the same page. That being said, the lasagna was amazing. I don’t even like lasagna and I ate more of this than my usual choice of pasta (penne). If you have the time to wait an hour, I would say it’s worth it for good, affordable food. The dishes are about $35 each, which is insanely cheap to share with family. We had 4 of us and only should’ve ordered 1 lasagna. Bonus points for having delicious bread!

I came here with my friend on a Thursday prior to seeing a show. Carmine's was absolutely packed at 5:15pm. Although we didn't have reservations, we were able to grab seats at the bar. The bartender was extremely attentive and friendly. Also the service was FAST. We only waited 5-10 minutes for the appetizer followed by the main course a few minutes later. Needless to say, everything is family style so the portions are MASSIVE. I repeat: MASSIVE. The food was also DELICIOUS. Pro-tip: Make reservations regardless of time and day. Also, one dish alone can easily feed 3-4.

We have not been back here for 20 yrs . Let us just say it was freaking awesome! We had the rigatoni bolenese ....and garlic and pesto spagethii. The garlic bread was made to perfection....hard on the outside soft on the inside. The chopped Salad was amazing also. The service was good and not a bad price for all of the food we got. We got in right at our reservation time so that was a plus also. Check it out you won't be disappointed.

Make sure you ask for Kayla. Today is my birthday so of course before the broadway show @ 2pm Carmines was my go to. Absolutely PERFECT as usual, still can't figure out why they are not more expensive....anyway get the Raspberry Lemonade and the vegetarian dish...you can add any protein, I added grilled chicken. Everyone is so polite and kind and friendly from you enter the restaurant you choose your seating you are catered to every step of the way . There's outdoor dining too but I choose indoors. A NYC must visit.

Incredible experience! The servers were amazing recommending and guiding our journey, we had the best steak and shared a huge pasta, wine paring was great and the dessert topped everything making it a day to remember, we were celebrating a bday and the staff sang with us, we walked around the place remembering every movie we have seen it in and I definitely think this is one of those places you need to visit at least once in New York! Great food, great people, unforgettable experience.

Came here for lunch with my fellow coworkers and boss. We had a set course, so this review is only based on the set menu and not on any of the other food. Overall, the food were decent. It may be difficult to see from the pictures, but be warn that the portion size are quite large. The meatballs, from the spaghetti and meatball, were very soft. It was good, but something felt off to me about it. The chicken parmesan was also very soft, which I was fine with. The shrimp pasta and calamari were delicious, but watch out for the high oil content. My advice is to also cut back on the bread. The breads were tasty, but they will fill you up before you even start your appetizers or main courses.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it has never disappointed. The meals are family style so don’t expect to eat an entire meal yourself. One meal is probably enough for 4-5 people. The chicken with lemon butter is my favorite meal that I’ve had there. And to drink try the Italian soda. I really like the “Frankie Blue Eyes”.

I would give this place absolutely ZERO stars if I could!! After a long day in the city celebrating my fathers birthday we decided to get some Italian food, we saw the other reviews and figured this would be a great place to have a nice family dinner. We checked online and google says this place closes at midnight, we made a reservation for 10:45 and got there 10 minutes early. It was our first time there and no one warned us that they actually closed at 11 (the google business hours are incorrect). We spent some time contemplating what to order since the plates are meant to be shared, after figuring out our order our waitress Sonya didn’t come back to our table for at least 10 minutes, we continued to wait until she finally came back and had realized we didn’t even get the chance to order our entree meals. We placed our order and 15 minutes later the waitress and the manager come up to our table and inform us that they will not be making our food because they close at 11, the chefs had left and we didn’t get our order in on time. The manager was VERY rude and didn’t even give us the chance to explain that the waitress took a long time to come back to our table. We were completely livid. They didn’t even care. Not to mention the fact that they knew we were celebrating my father (who is also a retired vet) and we were there with my brother who is Down syndrome and has blood sugar issues… not a good look. They basically put us out on the street, there were no other places open and this was how we spent our last night in NYC, roaming the streets looking for SOMETHING to put on our stomachs. Terrible way to end our night and our time in NYC. The two pictures attached were the appetizers we ordered before we were told that the was all we’re going to eat for dinner. They we’re actually very tasty & we were looking forward to eating at the restaurant until they basically kicked us out. Even the table next to us said that they way we were treated was BS.

It was around noon, the restaurant was very busy on top of the Christmas season and a big crowd waiting. My daughter and I wanted to have lunch, and the host accommodated us on the second floor. We didn't have any reservations, so we were super happy to get a table. All the staff was very attentive and polite. We ordered a seafood pasta dish that was incredible! The plates are delicious and big. Two or three people can eat with one order. We definitely recommend this place and do yourself a favor and make a reservation in advance to enjoy your meal here!

We made a reservation for 12:15 on a Wednesday. It was busy but not crowded, there were plenty of servers. Our server was very good and was often around. The portions, as you can see, are huge. For two people this was way too much food but, as far as I know, you can’t do half portions here. We ordered the Caesar salad with anchovies and my husband said it’s the best Caesar salad he’s had, a ringing endorsement! I also thought the Caesar salad was great and well worth the money. We ordered the shrimp with red sauce and Angel hair for our main. The shrimp are jumbo! The sauce is very good, my husband thought it was a bit too watery/oily. We did not come close to finishing this portion, it could easily feed 4 people. I was surprised that for such large portions the food was genuinely really good. Even though this is a touristy spot I think it’s well worth the experience and quality. Will come again!

If you can overlook the touristy vibes, this is a solid place — particularly so given the part of town it is in. Veal scallopini was very good, and combined well with a side of roast potatoes. Cheesecake was great too. Portions are HUGE so recommend one entree per two people at most. Great cocktails too and super friendly service.

Step into the bustling world of this New York gem! The restaurant was buzzing with life, a lively dance of guests in and out, yet the staff embraced us with warmth and speedy service, even with our fashionably late entrance. Now, let's talk about the real star – the food! Brace yourself for an adventure of flavors, as this place crafts culinary wonders that'll make your taste buds do a happy dance. And oh, the drinks? Absolute perfection! For the dynamic duos out there, a friendly heads-up: the portion sizes are epic! Consider ordering for one and revel in a shared feast or gather your squad for a gastronomic journey. The ambiance inside is like a warm, cozy hug, but if you dare to brave the chilly outdoors, fear not – they've got mini warmth wizards (aka lamps) at every table. Trust me, the freeze is worth the flavor explosion! In a nutshell, this spot is not just a restaurant; it's a joyous celebration of food, friends, and fantastic vibes. Your taste buds will thank you, and your heart will leave full. Cheers to making memories in the heart of the Big Apple! 🌟

We stopped in for lunch while walking around Time Square. We got a table right away. The place was packed . From the time we walked in until the time we left everyone we came in contact with was friendly and awesome. We had Johnathan as a waiter, he was perfect. His recommendations were exactly what we needed. The stuffed mushrooms were to die for. The portions were absolutely incredibly huge. The meatballs and sausage were the best I ever had. What a great place. Can't wait to get back to New York.

Listen, this place was absolutely astonishing. My wife and I had spaghetti and penne with the house bread and let me tell you I cannot possible have a better Italian meal anywhere else. The meatballs were like butter to cut, and yet mouth watering when you take a bite. The sauce was amazing. You can tell it was cooked for hours and hours. The garlic clove itself tasted like the sauce because of how long it cooked! Service was amazing and each area was so intimate, it was nice to watch every family have such a good time while dining. The ratings here don’t lie, this is definitely the #1 spot in NYC to visit and take your family and friends.

Carmines is ALWAYS so much fun! We brought our friends and their family visiting from 🇫🇷 France. Not only was the food excellent , as always, but our server Luciano was attentive, kind, personable and made great recommendations. And celebrating the youngest French visitor’s 12th birthday was a real treat! And , this time before leaving, I remembered to purchase the Carmines cookbook. Great way to celebrate friends and gathering in NYC! 🇺🇸🇫🇷🇮🇹🌻

Simply amazing NYC experience. Make your reservations well in advance but do not skip this must-do. Drinks and the bar service are top notch and the food portions are something out of a Hollywood movie. Even if you choose to cozy up to the bar for a few cocktails, you’ll be treated like family and be completely immersed in the heart filled ambiance. Stop reading. Treat yourselves and go.

Great location and atmosphere. Old school Italian restaurant. The food portions are enormous so don't over order. Garlic bread is a meal. Had spaghetti and meatballs and lasagna. 1 dish would have done 4 of us(2 adults 2 teenagers). A plate is approx $30. Great service. We would be back.

Bring your appetite!!! Everything from appetizers to main course dishes is family style sized. Reasonably priced for the amount of food and the location being steps from Times Square and Theaters. We had the Garlic Bread appetizer and the Bolognese Meat Sauce on Spaghetti. Both were great. Service was quick and attentive.

I cannot say enough about our experience here. The food and drinks were amazing. The best apple martini I’ve had. We had the rigatoni with sausage and it was delicious. It is definitely different - family style dining but we loved it. The service is outstanding and not rushed despite them being extremely busy. Highly recommend eating here when you’re in NY!

This place brings back your childhood memories. It's a traditional Italian restaurant, bustling with people watching live sports and enjoying huge portions of dishes that taste a bit like homemade. You share the food with a group of fellows, wow, this is happiness!

The price per menu seems expensive, but the quantity is more than 2 people! The staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was good, and everything on the menu was delicious. It's a lot for two people, so I think it would be better to go with a lot of people. It is a popular place, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance.

The food was good. The garlic bread with cheese was delicious. I definitely recommend the cheese cake. I would go back just for that. Definitely make a reservation, the restaurant was packed. The service at the bar while we waited to be seated was very nice. Our service at the table was not so great. We hardly saw our waiter and multiple times we had to ask passing servers to refill empty drinks. Overall we had a nice evening with family.

Two of us had $90 market priced lobster with angel hair pasta and $45 meat ball pane. The pasta was so dry and cold, and the seafood sauce had lots of soils from the clams or something. It might have been better if you had a group of many people because the size of the dish was too gigantic. We couldn't finish the quarter of what we ordered. The staff was kind and cheerful. However, I didn't like their food at all.

I'm just going to start this off by saying do not order your own dish. This place is most certainly meant to share. With many other people. Largest portions I've ever seen at any restaurant by far. The food was phenomenal, service was incredible, atmosphere was fantastic. Our party of 4 shared 2 entrees and a salad and each and every one of us left with to-go boxes. I would return here in a heartbeat. I wish we had something even similar on the way coast. Also the eggplant parmesan was the best I've ever eaten! Drink were also great.

We've been to New York a few times and this is the best of the best. Our server even tells you that their dishes are in large portions and we should simply share which is what we did. Cheese Ravioli is second to none. The sauce is home maid and really delicious. I ordered a couple Meat Balls on the side and you'll NEVER find anything like these anywhere else. They served us up a bread basket with their home made breads that are out of this world. Prices are really good as well. Treat yourself to a great real meal and go see the folks at Carmine's. You'll be glad you did.

For the experience as a whole it was ok. Take note, the restaurant is alive. If you are not a fan of big busy places, that might not be your scene. The food was disappointing in taste. As we ate in a lot of other Italian restaurants around we unfortunately ended up comparing, and we all came to the conclusion the food was not the best we had, not even close. And that applies for all the dishes we had. We were a table of 7. The service was ok, though sometimes you want something and it takes a while for a waiter or waitress to make visual contact with you. The amount of food is absurd. Even the salad is huge! If I’d ever come back I’d order i dish for 3 people, really. We ordered 1 dish each two people and we didn’t make it to eat it all!… So exaggerated. But I guess that’s what make Carmine’s special. I think if you’re not much of a foodie and not much into intense gastronomic experiences, it’s part of being in NYC to pay them a visit. I suggest to go with a big group and order as little dishes as possible. Another good thing about them is their open and closing hours, it fits everyone: late night dinner, lunch, middle of the day lunch, etc… I’d strongly suggest to book online before. We are not nationals but we were able to book through OpenTable on Google Maps. Without a reservation we would not have found place for us that night.

Was in town from Chicago. I am still thinking about my dinner. It was delicious. The baked clams were the best I've had in awhile. The Cesar Salad was excellent as was the shrimp and pasta. There was 3 of us and we had enough food for 3 more people. The prices were very reasonable especially for New York. Will definitely it there again on my next trip to New York. Ask for Paul he was an awesome waiter.

Carmine's is THE New York Restaurant. They do Everything Right. While we were in New York some people from a NOVAX state tried to intimidate the Carmine's staff to let them enter BUT New Yorkers understand the Pandemic best (dark early days of the Pandemic). Hurrah for Carmine's, a Truly New York Restaurant that we're glad to say is our GOTO favorite in New York City.

Hands down, my favorite restaurant in Times Square. Come with a big appetite, because the serving sizes are huge. One entrée can feed three to four people. Paul was amazing as the server for our large group. He wrote nothing down and memorized our entire order with drinks, which we all noticed and was fascinated by. We had zucchini fries, steak, garlic bread, baked clams & two pasta dishes. The food portions are insanely large and even with our large group we still had a significant amount of leftovers. The dishes were tasty and the environment is very very vibrant and lively. If you want a more quiet Carmine experience go to the upper west side location. As this location embodies the energy of the theater district and nearby Times Sq

This place is a gem! Food is excellent, the service is great, very nice personnels. The place is very crowded, there's a 20-40 mns wait. The good thing is they take your number and you get a text when it's ready. The most important thing to know about this place, it is not a place for 2. The dishes are humongous!!! Family size!!! Seriously you need to be at least 4 people!! Prices are reasonable compared to the quality of food, the amount you get and location. Their drinks are delicious, give their Italian Soda a try. I recommend this place. PS: MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE CONTENTS IN YOUR TAKE OUT BAG. I asked to put the bread with the rest of my food to take out, when i get home it wasn't there!

The waitress was very polite and helpful. It's a great place if you're into the dine with a crowd atmosphere. Went there years ago but this time had a better table a few steps up. I could hear my family members better than I was able to hear my co-workers because of so many people and the music is kind of loud. The food was ok. Didn't really didn't enjoy dining with so many people talking loud over loud music years ago and even less with pandemic still happening. My family enjoyed it.

Went here for dinner from recommendations. It was probably the best pasta (with calimari) I've had this year. The tomatoes were absolutely fantastic and my family couldn't stop eating even though we were so full. The mussels in white sauce were cooked to perfection and had amazing garlic flavor. Would definitely love to come here again.

Ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was pretty good. It tasted like it was previously frozen. The tiramisu was what I was really looking forward to and was thoroughly disappointed. For the first ever this dessert came with chocolate chips in the top…what a terrible choice. This definitely diminishes the integrity of the dish. Not the Carmine’s I have come to know and love. Hopefully it was just a bad night.

I had lunch today at Carmine’s, the Times Square location. It’s a very busy place, and the holiday added to the usual hustle and bustle. It was crowded, but there was no wait time since we had a reservation. The waiter was attentive and kind. The atmosphere was charming and friendly. The food was good and hot. The strawberry lemonade is so good. The chicken parmigiana was good as well as the Italian cheesecake. Of course, you can’t eat it all because it’s family style, and they give you plenty. The menu is diverse and expansive with lots of good options. It’s a great place to eat, especially if you’re a visitor to New York City.

The waitstaff was incredible! The gentleman who took care of us made sure we made appropriate selections of our food. He saved us so much money by being honest!! The cocktails were yummy and we ordered pasta with vodka sauce, which was delicious. There was parmesan cheese in a container on the table. The bread was phenomenal and I ate so much of it I actually felt so full I could hardly move. We were tucked away in a great location by a window. Would absolutely go again when we travel back to NYC!!

Carmine is 100% a place you HAVE to go when visiting NY! It has become my favorite restaurant of all time and I never get tired of eating there even though I’ve been there a bunch of times. We had the penne a la vodka and it was delicious and as appetizer the fried zucchini, it was excellent. Make sure to make reservations ahead. It gets busy.

Doesn't get much more New York than this, which is why the place is perpetually packed. The food is served as Italian household family-sized so PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Two dishes will be more than enough for two people and even three people. The chicken Parm is a great choice here and so is the veal. We had the vodka penne, which was great and flavourful. Lasagna is next on the list for the next visit!

Crowded? Absolutely! But that's what reservations are for! Our server Mark and the food was amazing! The vegan options were plentiful and flavorful. The Giardiniera was a crowd favorite and the portions? When they say family style, they mean it! I have food for days 🤣. Drinks were strong and the overall vibe was welcoming and festive. I would definitely recommend and return.

This cozy mall-sized restaurant in Times Square will not disappoint. Staff is kind and conversational and you will wonder how they can turn out delicious family sized portions so quickly. Our reservation over the Christmas break was for 5:45, we were seated at 6pm. First dish, Caesar salad was addictive, followed by a mile high pike of zucchini fries which was equally delicious. Festive and fun landmark place for families and parties in the heart of Manhattan ❤️❤️❤️

When visiting my investors in NYC, Carmine is a must stop. Being Italian there are very few places I will eat pasta put and Carmines is one of them. The service, food and atmosphere are the best. Love family style it feels like Sunday dinners at my grandmas it's the best.

This was my first time at Carmine's and it wasn't what I expected. Nothing stood out to me from the decor to my Peach Bellini :( which wasn't a Peach Bellini at all. The Spicy Scarpareillo Wings were decent but that Chicken Parm was an upset. It had no taste, the cheese was thick, and we were given linguini when we opted for Penne. Due to the waitresses error the pasta was removed from the bill. The customer service was good 😊 that's where the three stars come from but environment, decor, and taste for my first time I wasn't impressed. I do love the large shareable portions one serving can serve about 4 ppl. I will probably come back if given the opportunity but didn't leave an impression where I left saying I have to come back.

Delicious food at this family style Italian restaurant with huge portions designed for sharing. One salad, one entree with a pasta side and one dessert was just right for our group of four. Our server was extremely helpful with ordering the right amount of food. Looking forward to my next visit

The food here was amazing. We stopped in after seeing Phantom on Broadway and it was such a delight. The food, drinks and service were amazing. It is family style dining and our waitress helped up pick just the right amount of food for all of us. If you are thinking about it, you won't be disappointed!

Came here with a group of 8 and the family style dishes worked perfectly for our group. We had the caeser salad, garlic bread, lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken marsala, and tiramisu. Everything was excellent. I especially enjoyed the garlic bread. The decor was also cool with pictures of famous people who had dined there in past years. Very fun, tasty, and enjoyable dining experience.

Best Italian food Ive ever had. The bread is super soft, the lasagna just melted in your mouth, the salad was fresh. Service was awesome. Portion size are huge! So come hungry and come with friends. The tables are small compared to the dish size so eat fast so they can take the plates away and replace them with the next dish. Lives up to the hype.

Blown away by the quality and speed of service. This was the perfect dinner for our large group. The food was phenomenal, no its not super authentic but flavor, presentation, and price was great. I expected to pay $800+ to take out my team of 10 in NYC and we had more than enough food and drinks for everyone for under half that. I went in skeptical and left very impressed.

Great place to enjoy an Italian family style meal in the heart of Times Square. Each meal on the menu is portioned to be shared among 3-4 people. It’s a great way to try several different items on the menu with your family. The service is quick and the food taste great! Make sure to make reservations as they fill up quick and waiting time can be up to one hour and a half if your lucky. I would highly recommend visiting this location when in NYC. We have also visited Carmine’s during the Christmas time where they decor the location with trees and garland.

The food was absolutely fantastic!!! My fiance and I had the shrimp fettuccine with red sauce and the chicken contadina. Our food came out promptly and everything was freshly prepared and seasoned to perfection with generous portion sizes. We also had an amazing waiter (Andre) who was very hospitable and knowledgeable in terms of the menu. He really made my birthday dinner absolutely remarkable!! Additionally, this restaurant is located just steps away from numerous Broadway theaters. Overall, I had an exceptional dining experience, and I plan to visit again...and again!

A bit overcrowded and waiting time was long, although we had a reservation. Food taste was great and portions are huge (each dish.serves at least 4 very generous portions. We had two different pasta dishes and both were delicious. They keep the Italian homemade characteristic flavors despite.of the amounts of food they cook. I would definitely come back and recommend as a "must visit" when in NYC

This place does not need more good reviews because if you know, you know! Old School, family style service and food. I will reiterate that the portions are HUGE. If you are visiting, I hope your hotel has a fridge and microwave because you will feel so guilty if you don't take your leftovers! Our server packed up our food so well and included silverware. The beautiful bread basket they start you off with is a meal in itself! Four different types were served in ours and you have to try them all! We then shared THE lasagna. Easily four portions and save some of that bread to dip in that marinara. Paired with the Peppoli Chianti our server recommended made it for a very memorable meal (and lunch the following day)!
