I had this pizza 🍕 way back in 2010 or 2011. Really before the big social media craze. We walked right into store one Friday evening and there was no wait. You could order multiple sizes. It was the best pizza I’ve eaten. Fast forward to today and I noticed it’s super busy and they only offer one size and they herd you and out. The pizza is still good and served hot. It’s just not what I remember it being. I assume the craze of it being “ original pizza place in NYC”, has caused all the tourists to come calling.

    * First thing to note: they take CASH only. There’s an ATM inside if needed. * Anyways… Best pizza I’ve ever had. My number one has been Juliana’s for a few years, but it’s now Lombardi’s <3 We went on a Sunday night and were seated right away. Service was great, we had the nicest waiter. Table was not tiny or squished with other tables, like many other ny restaurants. Got the rustic pepperoni and added mushrooms. DELICIOUS and perfect. We ordered the meat balls appetizer but they accidentally added them as toppings on the pizza. Worked out because the pizza was plenty of food for us. Bread sticks were also super good. The bread was so fresh and soft and slightly crisp on the outside. Only two dessert options so we got gelato at Figo nearby. Perfect evening. We will be back for sure.

Lombardi's is a great pizza joint! The inside was clean, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered Grandma's meatballs, this Caesar salad, and the margarita pizza. We also ordered the Italian seltzer, blood orange flavor, which was our favorite thing we got! It was homemade Italian soda. The salad had very fresh lettuce and romaine leaves, and the dressing was homemade with a rich flavor. The pizza crust had a nice crunch to it, but I think the pizza was just as good as pizza I've had in my hometown before. I thought it was cool how Pizza hut, Papa john's, domino's, and every American Pizza chain has stemmed from this location, the first pizza restaurant in all America. If you're looking for the best pizza in your life, there might be other places in little italy, but if you're looking for a nice evening and a cool piece of history, definitely check this place out!

If you are interested in trying the original pizza from the first pizzeria in the Unites States, this is the spot. I ordered their original margherita, the pizza was good, but unremarkable (pizza has evolved so much since then, it's hard for this to compete). Towards the center of the pie, the crust was floppy, and the outer crust was cracker-like and crunchy (but not burnt). The sauce was very good, as was the mozzarella. Enjoyable, but nothing to write home about. Service was good, they were attentive and friendly. Beepers are given out while waiting for a table, and I only had to wait about 10 minutes or so on a busy Saturday lunch, so not bad at all. My only complaint is that the restaurant is strictly cash only, with an ATM in the dining area. I feel that that should be verbally expressed to guests that come in, as I felt a bit ripped off that they were able to extract ATM fees out of me, not to mention this is 2022, the most common payment methods are either cards or digital wallets.

OKAY, to clarify: I AM A PICKY-EATER, so my review is going to be for picky eaters. The pizza to begin with looks absolutely stunning. Tons of peperoni, sauce, etc. however.. it’s super messy. You puck it up, and the cheese and toppings slide right off. You have to wait 10 minutes for it all to cool before you can get a bite in without the toppings falling off. In addition to this, we asked for no basil and sill recurved a pizza full of basil (excluding the basil from the sauce) The sauce isn’t sweet, it’s a bitter , vinegar-y taste. So if you’re expecting a sweet sauce, you’re wrong. Lastly, the price was a bit insane. Paid 28$ for the peperoni pizza and 21 for chicken Parmesan. That’s 49$ however we ended up being charged 54$ … you do the math. Then on addition to that, the owner of the ATM chatges a 3$ fee when you use it. THEY ONLY TAKE CASH. They don’t accept debit or credit cards so almost everyone is forced to use the ATM.

Classy old sit down joint. Came here for a drunken pepperoni pizza craving and was not disappointed. The pizza was somewhere in between NY style and rustic Italian style. It was fantastic. Their bar seemed to be fully stocked as well. A little pricey, but would definitely come here again for lunch or dinner.

This was my first-time visiting Lombardi’s, it was a Saturday, and we were walking around looking to grab a quick bite to eat, a lot of other places had a long wait and since this place had no wait, we figured let's give it a try. We ordered the lemon wings and the margarita pizza. The wings were delicious, and the margarita pizza was as well. The only problem we had the pizza was a bit too chewy and hard for me. Overall, I wouldn't say this was the best pizza I've ever tasted but if I'm in the area again looking to get pizza, I wouldn't mind giving this place a second try.

So we took a day trip down to SOHO from CNY and while down there my wife heard about the America's First Pizzeria and being the foodies we are as well as history buffs we had to check it out. I won't lie it was busy when we got there but they were able to seat is immediately. The serves was great especially considering the heavy traffic they were having. So let's talk about the Buddy's Cake Boss Pizza when I say one of the most unique combinations of Prosciutto, Mozzarella, Arugula, Romano cheese with basil on a red pie OMG such a crisp taste. Now my wife was adventurous and order herself a Vanilla Italian soda not know what it was and wow I should have ordered on as well you definitely will enjoy the food for sure

Love the history, food, service, and atmosphere of this restaurant. The food was amazing. We had bread sticks, meatballs, and Margarita red pie x2, it all was amazing. We had a 30-minute wait for a table, which was definitely worth the wait. If you are visiting the city, I would definitely recommend this restaurant as a most try.

Claims to be the oldest pizza place in NYC...so if that is important for you, then go ahead, but expect a wait. Do NOT go thinking you will be getting some of the best pizza in NYC. It is far from that; it is pretty good but so many better choices.

The first American pizza restaurant! Very typical place in NYC. The staff and the service is very good. Not big place so expect some waiting time. But it worth! The tomato salad is delicious same as the pasta. You can only pay cash but no problem as that have an ATM in the restaurant. Do not miss this place. A must in NYC!

This place is CASH ONLY! Hand made sparkling water was amazing that I ended up ordering all flavors. Clam pizza was delicious but it was cold. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be cold. Pasta was non Bueno. Photos are: - Italian spritzer blood orange, grapefruit, and lemon - Our famous clam pie - Tagliatelle basil pesto

Got an eggplant and ricotta red pie (fried eggplant and ricotta cheese on top) along with pepperoni on the side. Skip the flavored tea- it isn't particularly good. Pizza was amazing. Crust was cooked excellently. Barely any charring on one of the edges. Only one bathroom for guests, so be careful. Cash only, but there is an ATM on site. If you are traveling with luggage, you will have to sit outside with the surrounding air outside.

Well worth the experience at the oldest pizzeria in the US. I ordered the meatball pie and was not 100% happy with the meatballs themselves, so I took them off and enjoyed a great pie! I took myself on a short Pizza tour and this was the 2nd of 3 places. The pie was really good and the fresh tasty toppings definitely blended well with the charred coal fired crust. Once I got to just crust though, the charcoal flavor was strong... but overall the whole pie experience was well worth it! Got to respect the trend setters!

I was really hyped for this visit because of the history and I’m not sure whether I’m not a fan of the style of pizza or if it’s bad, but I know I didn’t really like it. The crust was very well cooked and rather than the light char that you get on a Neapolitan pizza it tasted more widespread burnt. I’ve added a photo of the base where you can see all round the edges is black. There was also a lot of sauce vs crust which I wasn’t keen on. Again, possibly personal taste. It wasn’t dreadful and I did eat a decent amount of it, but just not amazing especially considering it’s quite pricey. I think it was just underwhelming. Service wise my waiter was very eager to tell me how great the food was, and not so keen on answering my questions. I asked him if he did a smaller size as 12” to yourself is quite a lot and he just started ranting about how the pizza was nice, I’m still not sure if there’s a child’s portion or anything. If not it would be a good idea, a lot of places now offer a child size which is also better for smaller appetites.

I have been to Lombardi's 4 times. We have to go every time we visit NYC. This time, we were worried that we wouldn't get a seat due to having 2 little ones with us. Not a problem. They've added outside heated seating. Now on to the pizza... I can't say enough about this pizza place. I've never had a better pizza. I personally searched online for a copycat recipe I could use at home. No one is close. Fantastic pizza, good atmosphere. My kids loved it! The only negative I have is that there is usually a long wait, but how can they fix popularity?

Had a chance to visit the first Pizzeria in the U.S. I tried the Margarita pizza w/ a Vanilla Italian soda. The food was amazing and the service was great. My group of friends and I truly enjoyed our meal and the experience! Would definitely recommend and revisit!

Located in Little Italy NYC… The first pizzeria in the United States…. Top rated pizza by various food critics… Fast seating… even on a Friday night… They have plenty of outdoor seating that is covered and it’s a cool vibe… Plus indoor seating. Pizza is on the table in less than 30 minutes!! It’s a CASH only business … But no worries bc they have an ATM located inside. It’s a tourist attraction… A must eat… The pizza does live up to the hype. The staff is amazing too.

Some of the best pizza we’ve ever had. Service was excellent and prices were reasonable. This is CASH only, so be prepared. There is a conveniently located ATM right inside the restaurant which was a big help.

My sister and I came during the last week of December. It was busy but we only waited for 20 min to be seated. The servers were incredibly polite. Pizza crust was well done and crispy. The sauce has a nice herb-y taste, cheese oozing with salty goodness, and the pizza was pipping hot from the oven. The place is a bit small, but there’s outdoor seating available. I can’t wait to go back again!

Great traditional pizza joint. The food was above average and all of the pizza ingredients were fresh. I'm giving the service two stars only because it was lacking in many ways. I would ask for extra napkins and they would not bring it. We asked for sugar for the iced tea and they never brought it. We asked for extra plates for our pizza and they forgot to bring it. They were very busy but they still should have brought out those items for us. We dined outside on the street. The chairs are hard and could be better. There are better pizza places in manhattan.

We did a pizza crawl to find what NY pizza was supposed to taste like. Lombardi's was truly memorable food. The meatballs in gravy sauce are perfection. The service felt like family. The pizza was delicious. Other recomendations (like Prince Street Pizza) did not measure up. My new go-to will be here.

We loved dining at Lombardi’s!! We ordered the specialty pie with meatballs, ricotta, mozzarella, and garlic… delicious. We also had the Caesar salad with a touch of extra dressing. This was simple but uncommonly delicious as well!!! The service was very friendly and the place felt very cozy.

I was impressed being I'm born in Brooklyn and been eating new york pizza all my life. The taste was great I order a half sausage and half meatballs. And one cheese pizza. I have to say it was very flavorful and cheesy. Even the crust was on point it was crispy. So for my first time here I have to give them all stars. The service was good and the environment was great. Will definitely be back to enjoy another sausage pie. Fyi a little pricey but well worth it.

I rarely want pizza and am not one to eat it regularly. But this pizza, I would eat every day. We had the meatball pizza and the meatballs for an appetizer. Best meatball I ever had, very tender, seasoned perfectly.

  • 4/5 Richard C. 2 months ago on Google • 45 reviews New
Famed for being the first pizzeria in the USA. Ordered the meatball, ricotta and garlic pizza. Fresh ingredients, crispy chewy crust, but I was expecting more especially given the price at $30 USD for a 12 inch pizza. Service was attentive and the restaurant was cozy. Cash only

  • 4/5 Danielle F. 2 years ago on Google
The crust was crispy. They were not skimpy on the toppings. I love Italian sausage and it did not disappoint. Thumbs up all around.

Came here for the experience not knowing what to truly expect. The pizza was amazing. It was so good, I miss it already. The best part of the whole experience, was the service. Our waiter went above and beyond. I wish I could give him the credit he deserves but unfortunately I don't remember his name. I will gladly come back on my next visit to New York and will make sure to recommend it to others as well. Until next time Lombardi's.

  • 5/5 Christopher D. 2 years ago on Google
We had been walking for awhile and it was our last night visiting NYC so we had to get some pizza. We googled close places and Lombardi’s popped up. It also said it was the first pizzeria in the US…added bonus for the history factor! The Caesar salad is shareable and was fresh and crisp. We ordered the pizza with ricotta, meatballs, and basics. Excellent pizza!! Loved the crust! Only two small complains - First, server wasn’t great. He rarely came to the table and we had to find him for the check. Second, no refills on tea? $3 for a tiny cup of ice tea that isn’t refillable? Who does that now days? Not a biggie overall, just a comment. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Always great pizza! IMHO, the best pizza in the world! They have options, including a cauliflower crust pizza and a seafood pizza. You can also sit outdoors if you want to experience a full NY lifestyle. Love, love, love. Highly recommended. Caution: only one restroom, so there can be a wait. Still worth it.

  • 2/5 Will 2 years ago on Google
I know this place is supposed to be great and all but the wait time for the food to arrive was horrible. The establishment wasn't even crowded for the amount of wait time. By the time our second pie came out we weren't even hungry anymore but we had invested so much already. Please go out of your way to bring cash on you because they don't accept credit or debit cards as well.

The rustic double pepperoni pizza was good. The crust is crunchy and just the right amount of cheese and tomato sauce but it was a little too salty to my taste. The grandma’s meatballs were delicious and a must try! Very friendly staff and the service is fast.

This pizza place is ranked on of the top in NYC and I understand why. Everything felt so simple and casual and yet the food was amazing. We got the wedge salad and it honestly surpassed our expectations. Their dressing really enhanced the salad. We got 2 margarihta pizzas and added on roasted garlic. The sauce was on point – tasted fresh and was also well flavored. The crust was cooked to the right temperature. Cheese wasn’t excessive, just the right amount to compliment the pizza. Service: People were fast and food came out quickly Price: Considering how good the food is, the prices are very very reasonable. Ambiance: A typical casual pizza spot, there is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Note: Like many pizza places – this is cash only. Instagram: @TheShahLALand

America's first pizzeria. Great options and delicious coal fire pizzas. Small and cozy place so expect a wait, but worth it.

  • 3/5 Wiki 4 months ago on Google
My first time in NY and first time tasting NY-style pizza here. I ordered the clam pie, and I wasn't impressed. The pizza base was very crunchy (and I liked it), but besides that there were only clams. No sauce, very small amount of cheese, and the clams were nothing special. As for me, it's not worth 32$(+tax and tips) at all. Ice tea was just black tea with ice cubes. But for the price (3$) it's okay.

Wonderful pizza. I mean, near perfection. And they’re very fast! The service was wonderful too. Very helpful and kind staff. They have their own soda’s, which aren’t terrible, but if you’re expecting coke, their cola falls very short. This is also a cash-only establishment, so, bear that in mind before going. All-in-all I was so pleased with my experience here. Oh, and it may just have the cleanest bathroom in Manhattan!

  • 4/5 shanpixels 2 years ago on Google
Pizza was good not amazing! some of the reviews claim that this pizza place is the best but it just good! They have no place or space for customers to wait until they can be seated. Customer has to wait outside on the sidewalk and is very uncomfortable with others passing by through this very narrow sidewalk and if the weather is cold it makes it worse for customers waiting outside to be seated. If you want to come here to try it, welcome but it’s not the best:(

Famous restaurant for NY pizza. They only serve one size, which was big enough for the two of us. A bit pricey at $30. Bring cash, bc credit cards are not accepted. Our waiter was very nice to us.

  • 3/5 Andrew D. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty standard pizza but nothing to write home about. Came here on a Sunday before dinner and the wait was about 20min. I know a lot of people rave about this place but it’s just alright. NYC has a lot of great pizza places but I wouldn’t put this up there. Might come back in the future to try out other options.

If there were ever an Italian pizzeria needed for a movie, this would have to be it. Lombardi's is a small, inconspicuous, amazing restaurant. The service and the food does not disappoint. The waitress was prompt and very nice and the food was even better. I ordered the cheese original with pepperoni and it was delicious. Unfortunately, I'm here for only a few days or I'd frequent this place more. If you're in NYC, this is one of the stops after the statute of liberty and the Brooklyn bridge. Oldest pizzeria in the NYC and the US. Delicious.

  • 5/5 Lawana M. 9 months ago on Google
Loved the whole experience here! Pizza was awesome! We ordered the Buddy (Cake Boss) with arugula and prosciutto; which I'd never had either on a pizza but it worked! Crust was light and crispy. Cheesecake was rich and flavorful; everything you expect in a NY cheesecake.

  • 5/5 孫羽含 2 years ago on Google
If you like thin crispy pizza this is the perfect place! I ordered a clam flavour and it was pretty refreshing and not heavy at all, I can eat up a whole one by myself! Also they only accept cash and they have an ATM machine inside so no worries:)
