The museum spaces are so clean and well kept. Well planned out and managed. Lots of staff available to answer questions. We had a really nice time and the views from the flight deck are amazing. Be sure you ride the aircraft elevator if given the chance. The space shuttle exhibit was amazing. I had no idea it was that big and the way you enter just makes you realize it quickly. Overall a great experience. Parking can be a walk so be ready for that.

Spectacular air and space museum! A piece of American history. All the pieces are in excellent condition and the audio guide is very easy to follow. The Enterprise exhibition is a blast. Ensure to have enough time to visit it. If you are an enthusiastic it will take you at least three hours!

This is such a great museum! It was a surprise for the entire family, we did not know much about the museum, but we decided to go and check it out and it was super fun and interesting. The staff is super professional, they even have veteran from the navy that serves as hosts and they have so many cool stories 💪 We recommend this place 100% 👍 Just look and the pictures… and before I forget, the sunsets are amazing from the top platform 😍

Fantastic museum. Plenty to see and for kids to do. They've done an amazing job of trying to give a glimpse of the history of the ship, those that served, the conflicts and a variety of aircraft. The staff and volunteers were very knowledgeable and helpful. There is a lot of interactive games for kids and enough to keep you there for hours. I spent 5 hours here and saw just about everything on a quiet day. In fairness, I also took a lot of pictures so it would take most people a but less time. The curators have done a great job. Absolutely loved it.

Great place to visit with family and kids. Lots of activities designed for kids. You can spend at least 3 hours or more here easily based on how many activities you want to pay for. They have a submarine which was really fun to see but there is a 45 minute line before you can enter. They have a gift shop and food court.

The intrepid museum would be a fun filled experience for the entire family. Located at pier 86, the intrepid tour offers sightseeing to the USS intrepid (a splendid aircraft carrier of its time), a space shuttle, and the submarine. It is also one of the attractions offered via the city pass. Plan to spend around 5-6 hours exploring the aircraft carrier, the spaceship, and the submarine as there could be queues on busy days.

Such a treasure! Expansive collection of military planes. You also get a glimpse into what the life of over 3,000 crew and pilots was on this ship during various military conflicts. Such a rich and vivid history! You also learn about various tech that was used to command this floating town. There is even the Space Shuttle prototype on board. And you get an opportunity to visit a submarine “parked” next to Intrepid. Must see to understand the history!

The submarine was also really cool to see where/how people spent days underwater. The planes on the top deck were awesome to see as well as the separate tribute to the space shuttle!! The museum is awesome! There are some paid activities. Some personnel are not interested at all in providing information to visitors. I would like them to put some effort into that.

Intrepid is an amazing experience. I loved the submarine as it is very rare you can get to see inside of a submarine. The ship is well maintained and it's good to see the shuttle also. This is a place you must visit if you're in 🗽NYC because the experience is on another level. You can witness history in a raw form. The line for submarine can be long but it's worth the wait.

Impressive aircraft carrier if that's your interest. Plenty of aircraft such as black bird & choppers. There is also the enterprise at the back which is REALLY impressive. If you have time, worth a visit. You can spend a lot of time here. Price isn't too expensive considering you can spend all day here.

  • 5/5 Samuel G. 2 years ago on Google
The aircraft carrier is very impressive, and you get to explore many of it's nooks and crannies. On the flight deck there are a multiple aircraft including the SR-71 blackbird and the Enterprise space shuttle. There is also a Concord, though it wasn't open for a tour. One of the highlights was the submarine USS Growler. You have to climb through some tight spaces, but you get to see almost everything. We spent about two hours on a not very busy day.

This was an excellent experience, and truly one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. This museum has a fascinating history of the US Navy and the ship that is the museum. There are Navy Veterans dotted about who are really interesting to listen to, and the ship is open for you to have a full look around. The only negative would be that the security can be a little aggressive. However, overall, I would recommend this place. I would suggest having a look at the Concorde and the space shuttle in particular.

I would highly recommend visiting the Intrepid museum. This is great for kids all the way up to adults. Going into the submarine was absolutely mind-blowing. Getting to see the spaceship on the upper level was also a great moment. So much history in one area. It can get very hot, so make sure you stay hydrated. I would recommend arriving early and doing the submarine first. The line can grow pretty quickly with a wait time of up to 45 minutes.

An absolute must visit for anyone who is interesting in (naval) aviation. The exhibits are grand and the Intrepid makes for a beautiful and interesting setting. The wide variety of aircraft make this a lovely journey through aviation history. Could not possibly recommend any more for aviation enthusiasts.

This was such an amazing experience!!!! It was our first time in New York and we knew we had to do this!!!! My boys loved it!!!! They had so many things for the kids! We went during kid week and we did the 4D theater and the g force ride and watched the planitarium show. Definitely an experience we won’t forget! So fun! So much to see. Very clean and staff was very friendly.

Amazing experience, great views of the city. Give yourself as much time as you can here. You can really get round the ship and have a good mooch. Only downside was the submarine was closes, but I knew that in advance and understand why. Very impressive considering only a small team work on the upkeep of the planes etc.

Great place to spend 3-4 hours. Loved the submarine tour. Good hamburgers for lunch, with a generous portion of fries. The retired Navy sailors who volunteer as hosts are great. The exhibits are very informative.

We went as a family and it would be easy to fill a day here. We did feel that not all of the ship was as accessible as for example HMS Belfast in London but overall it was an enjoyable experience for all of us. My only disappointment was that Concorde was still not back on display.

I visited this museum during the pandemic. Masks are required and they have hand sanitizer everywhere. They also didn't have many guests which actually made the experience more enjoyable for me. I can't imagine visiting this place when it is crowded because some areas of the ship are cramped. I enjoyed learning about fighter planes and the ship. It's a very unique museum. I recommend visiting, but try to visit during off peak hours. If you're a New Yorker, you should visit while we have fewer tourists in the city. I think you will enjoy it more. Also think its good for all ages.

If you do love a history, you gonna love this place. Main attraction is the, of course, Intrepid and her functions, rooms and equipments of the past etc. The space vessel on the top of the carrier is a small visit of American milestones in exploring the traverse. Very cozy exhibition. Still always stunning to see that beauty. After visiting space centers in Orlando and Houston I feel very close to these. Concorde is a small portal to the horrible incident what happens 2000 to Air France. Just kinda sad I could not visit her interior. As a cabin crew I would be really interested to "feel it." Maybe the museum is running tours? Not sure about this info though. The submarine was an amazing ending of the entire visit. And personally I have to say that was unforgettable experience. (How many times you can be inside of the actual submarine?) And just that echo of the past, imagining actual people spending there months...very educational and feel-able. Thank you for reliving all those experiences with visual/audio props and lots of interesting texts. Gonna pass a word for this one :)

This is one of those places you really need a few hours to see everything. Started with the Growler Sub tour, a few staff members sporadically to answer questions very knowledgeably. Could not imagine living in there for 2 months at a time. Over to the Concorde, bummer it was not open as it was one thing I was looking forward to, but not the end of the world. Onto the Intrepid Carrier, many planes/ choppers on deck in various conditions. Far end large building is home to Enterprise shuttle, which is a sight to see up close and personal. Tons of info inside with displays. Walked through Intrepid bridge, main floor and a bit of lower floor but ran low on time. Will definitely revisit with more time to stay. Exploreum has many interactive exhibits for both children and adults. Tickets: We purchased the New York Pass. They scan it at ticket counter and hand you tickets, no time slots or delays. Vaccine Card/ ID Check very smooth, worker may tease you if you aren't smiling in license photo :) Highly recommended.

What an awesome experience!! If you like History. Boats, Planes, Submarines and Space this is the spot for you. Got in at first opening and did the submarine first as we were told the queue moves quite slowly, what an incredible piece of preserved history. Worth it just to go inside. so many things to see and do, staff were so helpful and great to talk to volunteers. A fantastic way to get away from the huddle of the city.

Such a fantastic experience! Visiting during mine and my friends holiday to New York. Especially a must see if you have interests in military equipment, aircraft, boats and submarines. Level of detail on many exhibits was outstanding, staff also very friendly to talk to and also very knowledgeable. This attraction is located in a quieter area of New York, so a great place to visit to escape the crowds of Times Square, only a 30 minute walk away in fact! No queue to access the attraction, would recommend purchasing a city attraction pass or an advance ticket to guarantee entry, but looks like tickets can be purchased on site too. Fantastic how most of the museum is based on an aircraft carrier which saw active service! Some unique finds here including a space shuttle and also a submarine which you can walk through which was awesome. Its hard to believe how service men lived in such a small space for a couple of months with no\ little daylight! Exhibits were very interactive too with information being plentyful. All aircraft etc looked to be well looked to be a great condition and was great to get up close to all. I saw some of the aircraft carrier was still being restored and quite understandably as a restoration on this scale will take a significant amount of time. I hope to return one day to find more of the aircraft carrier accessible! Definitely spend a day or at least 3-4 hours visiting this place, its certainly worth it! Will be recommending this place to family and friends.

If you are an aviation enthusiast like I am this is where you definitely want to check out. The air and space museum is housed inside the Intrepid. On the top level deck there is a really cool plane called the SR-22 Blackbird. Be sure to read the history about it because you will be blown away when you find out what year it was developed. This is a great museum for our community and I think that it’s appropriate for all ages. We will be back

Loved the Intrepid! We got here early and there was only a few people in line. The staff was knowledgeable and provided great insight about life on a carrier. The Enterprise was also great, enjoyed being able to walk around and see inside the landing gear hanger. We really liked the nuclear submarine and seeing how tight the space was.

I visited here on a whim and I wasn’t disappointed! The size of the exhibits are large and expect a lot of walking. I couldn’t believe how many airplanes they had on the ship. The exhibits were informative and gave an appreciation of life on the boat was like. The submarine was very cool and was in great condition. I enjoyed learning about the Cold War in relation to that submarine and the nuclear missiles it carried. The space shuttle was amazing to see up-close. I became a kid again, staring with wonderment at this incredible feat of engineering. This wasn’t on my original NYC itinerary but I’m so glad I went. It was fun and educational.

Simply WOWWWWWW the history at this museum is beyond belief! The submarine was so freaking cool! This is MUST! A real MUST! And I work in the city and I still think it’s one of the coolest places. The views are also incredible. We stayed there a whole day until it closed because of how mesmerized we were with everything! This is for people of all ages, I promise everyone will enjoy it! There is even an interactive area. Will go back again.

Why did I wait so long to go ? It was a great great experience ! There’s a lot to see and you can easily spend +2 hours there. We also booked a tour of the Concord (we learned a lot and now we know a few very nice anecdotes like who liked to seat and where … ). We also paid an extra to do the simulator experience and it was a lot of fun. There’s the option to visit the submarine. The collection of airplanes is phenomenal, we saw the sunset and it was definitely appreciated … also tour guides are always around if you have questions. The museum closes at 5pm, try to go before 3 pm so you have to see everything. It’s family friendly

Great place to visit if you enjoy these types of museums. Lots to explore, we spent a good few hours here looking around. Highlights were going inside a nuclear submarine docked along the waterside and inside a decommissioned Concorde (although this cost extra). No ample parking

What a amazing experience. Spend 3 hours here. I loved it. Only down side which I hope they can address is the day I was here was very hot and there was no shade over the line for the submarine and people were nearly passing out due to the long wait. also would be great to have a taxi/Uber pick up area out front so we don’t have to cross the street. (Maybe there was and I didn’t see it) Apart from these two minor things 10/10 experience.

This is a very impressive place to visit for kids, teenagers and adults a like. The place is well kept and it's part of many discount programs (check their website). Customer service over the phone is very helpful and the staff at the museum is friendly and informative. The place is nice and clean all around including the bathrooms. The large ship is the best place for the little one to interact and get on the aircrafts. I recommend this place.

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum left me utterly amazed and inspired. From the moment I set foot on the aircraft carrier, I was immersed in a world of history and innovation. The vast array of aircraft on the flight deck, including the legendary Concorde and the space shuttle Enterprise, left me in awe of human achievement. The interactive exhibits inside the hangar deck brought to life the stories of the brave individuals who served aboard this floating museum. From navigating a submarine to experiencing a flight simulator, every corner offered a hands-on adventure. The highlight was definitely walking through the space shuttle pavilion and realizing the magnitude of space exploration. This museum isn't just about artifacts; it's about the spirit of exploration and the determination to push boundaries. An absolute must-visit for history buffs, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about our journey into the skies and beyond.

A great place to explore with a lot of interesting information, aircraft and items to see. Much of the aircraft carrier is accessible so you really get the feel for what life as a serving sailor would have been like. The submarine is also similarly impressive. You'll need at least 3 hours there to get any level of detail. Getting to the museum by public transport involves the metro and a bus, if you want to avoid a lengthy walk, but do your research and it's pretty plain sailing. A great place to visit, especially if you use discount opportunities like Sightseeing Pass etc.

One of the coolest museums to visit in all of NYC. For anyone with an interest in history, or love Aviation & Aerospace, come here. Takes about, 4 hours to do the entire museum if you like taking your time. That's excluding the submarine visit, sadly I skipped out on it because of how long the waiting line was. I love that they have old veterans at the captains Bridge answering anyone's questions about the ship.

Awesome museum! The space shuttle was stunning, the aircraft on the flight deck looked very well maintained, and the ship itself has even more nautical-related exhibits inside. Going through the ship and seeing the crew quarters, the anchor room, etc, was great! We didn't have time on our trip to go into detail with the Concorde and the submarine, but both of them were super cool to see on the way out of the museum :)

This is worth every penny!!! If you're in the area, I highly recommend you visit. Both kids and adults can have an awesome time at this museum. It's educational and fun! We went in the submarine. What a beautiful and unforgettable experience! There was a wait to enter and it was very hot. So, keep a sun hat and refreshments with you if it's a hot day. As for the intrepid, it is huge! Make sure you have enough time to explore it. You need about 3 hours to see everything. Some people might need 4 hours. There are many restrooms. The water station is next to the souvenir shop. I'm not sure if there are other water stations elsewhere. The whole place is clean. The views are beautiful!

Loved my trip. First time in a aircraft carrier. It was really neat. There is a lot of history. Ww2, Korea and Vietnam wars. Important ship to 3 different conflicts. Had more than 3 admirals serve on the ship. You can even turn the rudder.

Interesting piece of American wartime history. The ship itself has various exhibits and a lot of full size aircraft (not sure if models or decommissioned active aircraft). There is also one of the space shuttles, Enterprise, that was a test frame and never went to space. You also get access to a submarine with your ticket. All round enjoyable and educational experience with ex servicemen scattered around to provide info or stories.

Low-cost tickets, a very large museum. The aircraft carrier is impressive. There's a vast display of airplanes on the deck. I also recommend visiting the submarine. To tour the entire museum, it takes about 4 hours. I suggest catching a show at the theater on the ship.

Not really my thing but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It was great being able to see some airplanes up close, and it's one of the only places you can go aboard a submarine or see a real space shuttle. We ate at their cafeteria and their food was surprisingly good - my chicken bacon ranch sandwich had no business being so tasty.

A phenomenal time. You know I've never seen a space shuttle in real life? So much reverance for my sisters and brothers in the armed forces, and the sacrifice veterans have made to secure the freedoms I enjoy today. Excellent seeing the Enterprise Space Shuttle, a test vehicle for the Space Shuttle era.

Love it here. As an aerospace major I love for this exposure to aircraft and military weaponry in the city. Truly a unique experience with one of a kind aircraft, a submarine, and space shuttle. Tons of activities beyond the aircraft like rock climbing within the ship. What needs a desperate improvement is the food. Very basic, and mediocre taste (Was disappointed by the Mac and cheese there personally). Overall, a must go, but bring a sandwich :)

Well designed walk-through. Similar to other military ship tours, of course. If you have never done that then this is a good opportunity. I was more interested in seeing the space shuttle up close and was not disappointed. There is a large exhibit space in the ship which gives a good impression of the sheer size of the ship but I think that is better appreciated from the outside. The airplanes on the deck are also interesting. I did not visit the submarine anchored next to the Intrepid due to lack of time but would recommend you visit it based on my experience viewing other subs in the past. Friendly staff.

(Translated by Google) Great museum on the USS Intrepid carrier. Since 2012, visitors can watch the first American space shuttle, the Enterprise, on board an aircraft carrier. There is also a Polish accent - planes and helicopters are exhibited on the upper deck of the aircraft carrier, including the Polish MiG-21. Since 2004, you can also see the Concorde passenger plane - to get inside you must book a tour in advance. I recommend the City Pass. For every aviation fan - a must-have item on the list.

Active duty Military gets free admission and 50% off with NY state ID. A lot of WWII and NASA history. Well maintained aircraft carriers. Big space shuttle inside the building on ship. It will take good 3-4 hours. Recommend to go there early to take time and cover everything. Food court, gift shop and many restrooms are available at all areas. 3D theater for additional cost. Submarine and concord tour is not available due to COVID. You will need vaccine card and ID. Must place to go while in big apple.

This place is a fantastic museum for navy 🎖️ , air force ✈️, and army 🪖 enthusiasts! The Intrepid is a gigantic vessel docked ⚓ in the Hudson River 🌊 near the Hudson Yards that is the size of the Chrysler Building and converted into a giant multilevel museum! Visit the large place carrier for a close view of many historical planes 🛩️ and a walk through the entire ship 🚢! They also have a flight simulator 🛫 for an extra charge 🎟️ that is really fun! Unbelievable museum and such a great experience. My 5, 10 and 16 year old enjoyed it. The rides were worth the addition. If you want the full experience with the ship there are Narrow spaces, some climbing over, walking down and up the stairs so Would be difficult with a young child but if they stay in the aircraft area they would be alright

Had a great time here! I spent about two hours exploring aimlessly. Lots of aircraft on the top deck, and the various decks have pretty neat info about berthing, mess, etc The Orbiter was awesome — as they all are— but I found the Growler submarine the most interesting thing in the museum. Super cool to see I definitely recommend a trip if you’re in the area. Although my ticket was free, I wouldn’t have minded paying for the experience

A must see place for those interested in American history, specific to Naval and WW2 history. The submarine was very impressive, although small. The museum does a great job in capturing the moment that sailors experienced during war times, the exhibits give you a glimpse of this. Discounts are offered to NYC residents, 1 person can discount the whole group! Make sure you walk it all, not worth missing anything here.

Just returned from an amazing trip to New York City and had the opportunity to visit the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum! 🗽✈️🚢 The museum was an absolute blast! 🤩 The exhibits were incredibly well-curated, showcasing the rich history of sea, air, and space exploration. 🌊🌌 The highlight for me was walking through the actual aircraft carrier, the USS Intrepid. It was mind-blowing to see the impressive collection of vintage aircraft, including legendary planes like the Concorde and the Space Shuttle Enterprise. 🚀🛩️ The interactive displays and simulators were so much fun! 🎮 I felt like a real astronaut as I piloted a space shuttle and landed it safely on a virtual landing strip. 🚀✨ The staff members were knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to answer any questions and provide additional information. 👩‍🚀👨‍🚀 The breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline from the flight deck of the Intrepid was a sight to behold. 🌇😍 It was a perfect spot to snap some memorable photos and take in the beautiful cityscape. Overall, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is a must-visit attraction in New York City! 🗽🏞️ Whether you're a history buff, aviation enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique experience, this museum has it all. It's an immersive journey through time and space that will leave you feeling inspired and in awe. 🌌🌟 I can't wait to go back and explore even more of what this fantastic museum has to offer! 👏🎉

First time on an aircraft carrier. I’ve been to Battleship New Jersey but this is probably next level in my opinion. The area is clean, with plenty of arrows and directions directing visitors to the lower and middle decks to observe the interior and exterior. There were lots of fighter planes and helicopters on the flight deck, refurbished and repainted due to wear and tear of the weather. I loved that it was lively and always remembering that those lives who were lost at sea will never be forgotten.

A place with a lot of history that we must know and an incredible experience for children. The wait to enter the submarine is around 45 minutes since groups of 10 people enter; To get into the space shuttle and the Intrepid has no waiting time. we loved visiting it.

My husband is a retired MSGT from the Air Force and a history buff, so he loved every single inch of our visit. I'm none of those things and I loved every inch of our visit. There is something exciting about touring areas you'll never get to visit unless you're part of the Armed Forces. Even then, you may not have the opportunity. This up close view of the Intrepid will leave in impression on you. The hubs found it impressive to share his knowledge of plane and helicopters. The workshop where they restore these beautiful machines is quite a sight. Then there's the space shuttle and all the space flight history! Again, this is worth the price of admission.

I highly recommend this place. What is more, it is better to buy tickets in advance because you save on long lines. I liked two exhibits very much, that of the fighter planes and of space. There is a film inside the museum about the battle with the kamikazm during World War II which is very moving but not recommended for those who are not very sensitive souls. The third hangar has all kinds of cool and fun activities for kids

This is an amazing venue with awesome nautical and aeronautical displays and breathtaking views of the city and New Jersey that's great for adults and children. I would suggest planning out your parking well in advance. I did not and I had to pay 150.00 for five hours at a parking garage five blocks away. Cameras are welcome.

I must see for those who love the American Spirit. This aircraft carrier is a true monument to what makes this country great. Please make sure you take the guided tour. It is an extra cost but the volunteers make this tour well worth your while. It's hard to grasp the scale of this vessel as you stand on the flight deck and realize you're on a ship, it is vast. Come for the carrier stay for the space shuttle. Did you even got a Russian Soyuz down by the shuttle. It's just a few blocks walk from Broadway. Take the time some morning that you're not seeing a show.

Very interactive! Easy to spend an entire morning/ afternoon here- there is plenty to learn and lots of exhibits/artifacts. Spent a little over 2 hours overall, without reading it all and skipping a few things. There is a cafeteria above the gift shop with plenty of seating if needed. We did not get the guided tour, but there were a few attendants in certain sections that provided information on the history and uses of things you saw around the ship/sub, so I'm sure any tours available are great! Also enjoyed the 3D movie they have telling the story of the ship. The submarine was also really cool to see where/how people spent days underwater. The planes on the top deck were awesome to see as well as the separate tribute to the space shuttle!!

I Am a self identified history dweeb, so do take this with appropriate context, but this museum is INCREDIBLE!! I went with small children and they didn't even complain. There really is something for everyone here, even if you just want to sit inside the ship on a bench and be cool or warm compared to outside. The staff/volunteers are SO friendly and truly want to share this amazing piece of American history with you. Like did you know the only place on the ship that ISN'T given commands port and starboard is the person steering the ship? I sure didn't! Take that Hollywood. From seeing lego creations to actual historic pieces to fully interactive exact replicas of major historic significance, if you love American history, do NOT miss this gem.

The museum is very good. It helped me look back at those tense years. After all, no one wanted to start a world nuclear war. Many meaningful old photos and old airplanes make me feel like I am going back to that time, an amazing museum. It is suitable for visiting in leisure time, and the visiting time is about 60 minutes to 90 minutes.

I was excites to come to this museum ship. It has a lot of items to view and read about. However in my opinion the buildings they placed on deck and the 4d virtual rides at the back of the hangar deck fell like it takes away from the allure of the ship.

First time I'd been as an adult and it was AWESOME. Where else in the world can you explore an aircraft carrier and see the best planes from the last 80 years? They also had a retired intrepid crew member on the bridge and the two we met were both fantastic to talk to. Only disappointment was the submarine was closed, probably for covid

We have been several times on the Intrepid. There’s discounts for Veterans/Military and NY state residents. The flight deck may be cold/windy but with the array of helicopters and jets you might not notice. Small children might have difficulty using the stairs but there are elevators. Many displays are interactive and is even fun for adults. There are space craft, helicopters, and other shuttles you can sit in. There is a VR experience but it costs extra. This is the only museum in the states that allows the public on a military submersible. With knowledgeable staff, who some have served themselves, is a wonderful experience. Every trip is different and is a must for anyone who is (or isn’t) a military buff.

Always amazing experience. The submarine and space shuttle are new editions since I was here last. Its the only nuclear sub you can tour in the US. The history is amazing and there is something for all ages. Highlight was seeing them actively seeing them restoring a plane. Pretty neat experience. Very close to Times Square, only a five minute walk.

Amazing place to visit. We spent about 3 hours there but could have stayed longer for sure. Amazing to see the A12 in real life and just to be around so many incredible planes. Incredible time visiting the Intrepid Museum in New York City! There are exhibits covering a wide range of topics, from aviation to space exploration to military history. I loved learning about all of the different innovations and technological advancements throughout history. The museum staff were also amazing and so knowledgeable. They were always eager to answer any questions I had and really made the experience so much more enjoyable. Submarine Growler, Enterprise space shuttle, display of various aircraft collections and the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid itself, makes it almost a 3-hour walking in the museum. It was so interesting to see this piece of history up close and to learn about the role of various exhibits. However, I wish the museum team could provide people with guides on from where to start exploring and where to end; it is possible that some exhibits might be missed or may not be spent as much as it should been. Appreciate their effort.

This was truly a fun experience. To be able to walk through a submarine and then an aircraft carrier was amazing. At different stations throughout, you were able to speak to and ask questions to retired serviceman. They were very knowledgeable and very engaging to anyone who had the desire to stop and ask any questions. I'm sure I asked some repetitive dumb questions, but I never felt I was annoyingly them. The whole 3 hours went by so quickly. I truly recommend this museum to visit while in NY city. Loved it.

It's a fantastic exhibit covering WW2, Korea and Vietnam wars. Perfect for fans of movies and history to spend multiple hours at the venue. To see the viewing decks and walk in the Submarine, tight space warning. Getting through the hatches can be difficult for anyone of average height.

The joyful of plan goint to Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is one of the most fun, interesting exciting experience. Personally I'm not super into the military, aircraft or submarine but when I actually saw the real one and went down into real submarine, my heart was beating so hard when i was in small rooms and think of when submarine was deep in the water. There are staff in every point of the museum giving a knowledge and history of American military and maritime. The museum is located in Midtown Manhattan, easy to find and has transportation near by. The place is good for kids and take times to see everything so you must get there early:)

Overall a very well managed attraction. Most indoor areas are air conditioned, bathrooms are plentiful, everything's kept clean, easy to move around, restaurant is good. Be ready for the weather, (sunscreen, umbrella, coats, etc.,) aside from the flight deck you'll also be waiting in lines outside for the submarine and shuttle exhibits.

There was a little wait time due to baggage check policy but overall experience is great. Specially for kids, its amazing for them to experience intrepid and submarine crawler. One of the jewels in NYC. Intrepid is one of the best attractions in NYC. It can easily take close to 3 hours to enjoy and understand all the exhibits. From enjoying the 3 decks of the ship, to viewing submarine and concord and space shuttle, it's just mind boggling experience. Each exhibit is meticulously maintained. Definitely a thumbs up to Intrepid Marketplace, restaurant located in third hanger deck inside the ship. Portion size is good enough and definitely worth it to sit in air conditioning. Exhibits are neatly kept and explain the story very well. If in NYC, definitely worth visiting

Aircraft carriers are unbelievably huge and this is a small carrier! The place is amazing, going in the submarine is super cool, it just take so long to wait to get in there with no shade. I bought some extra activities and it was a bit underwhelming and you wait way too long for it. No point in buying the extra activities tickets ahead of time.

The submarine was outstanding! As for the rest of the museum I’d say they did a good job restoring the original cabins and battle posts, but the entertainment part was too shallow. I can understand they are making money right there, but it takes a lot of space and not really worth the price.

Fantastic day exploring this aircraft carrier museum, awesome to see the size of a space shuttle and be so close. Really interesting history of Intrepid with great background information and stories for all of the exhibits as well as former crew on hand! The opportunity to go through a real ( retired) nuclear submarine- unmissable! An array of planes displayed well on the flight deck, nice big quayside picnic areas and plenty of amenities! Loved playing with the interactive exhibits too! So many photos to take and it didn' t feel rushed .. Loved it - great value for money!

This is an awesome experience. Ask the docents or any of the staff any questions. They have all the knowledge. They have the space shuttle Enterprise here on the flight deck. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had, i’m a huge fan of military aviation in history, and this place was incredible, not to mention the space shuttle was there which is cool. It being the very first space shuttle, space shuttle enterprise was just awesome. This whole experience was the best, especially the growler submarine. That was awesome. I highly recommend this place as a must see for sure!!!

  • 5/5 Stephan B. 5 months ago on Google
Your Dad will love it. Not all the planes on deck are real, a little better than 3/4 are real and the rest, like the blackbird, are models. The big deal is the shuttle, the Enterprise, which was an operational prototype that never actually went to space, in case that matters to you. Good access to the hanger deck with a real nice kid friendly section astern. You can get something to eat here in case you go mid day when it's not too busy.

During my recent visit to the Intrepid Museum, I was transported back in time and immersed in the rich history that unfolded within its walls. The museum's captivating displays and exhibits provided a remarkable window into the past, allowing me to gain a deeper appreciation for the bravery and sacrifices of the men and women who fought for their country. The Intrepid Museum, located in New York City, is home to the USS Intrepid, an iconic aircraft carrier that served in World War II, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War. As I walked through the museum, I was awestruck by the sheer size and grandeur of the aircraft carrier. The sprawling flight deck and the impressive array of aircraft on display provided a tangible connection to the past. One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to explore the aircraft on board the USS Intrepid. From fighter jets to helicopters, each aircraft had its own story to tell. The meticulously preserved planes allowed me to gain a glimpse into the experiences of the brave individuals who piloted them. It was truly humbling to stand in the presence of these machines that played a crucial role in defending our freedom. In addition to the aircraft, the Intrepid Museum offered an informative and moving video show that delved into the history of the USS Intrepid and the men and women who served on board. The show brought to life the challenges and triumphs faced by those who fought for their country. It served as a powerful reminder of the courage and resilience displayed by these individuals in the face of adversity. As I explored the museum, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of admiration for the brave men and women who selflessly put their lives on the line to protect their country. The Intrepid Museum provided a platform to honor their legacy and pay tribute to their sacrifices. It served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and sharing the stories of those who have shaped our history. In conclusion, my visit to the Intrepid Museum was a truly enlightening and moving experience. The museum's displays, aircraft, and video show offered a compelling journey through history, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of the bravery and dedication of those who fought for their country. It left me with a renewed sense of gratitude for the sacrifices made by our servicemen and servicewomen. The Intrepid Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to connect with the past and pay homage to those who have served.
