Strawberry Fields in Central Park, New York City, is a tranquil and iconic memorial dedicated to the legendary musician John Lennon. It serves as a loving tribute to John Lennon, a member of The Beatles, who was tragically killed near this spot in 1980. The memorial is beautifully landscaped and features a circular mosaic with the word "Imagine" at its center, a reference to Lennon's famous song. The mosaic is often adorned with flowers and tributes from visitors. Located in the park's West Side, Strawberry Fields offers a peaceful escape from the city's hustle and bustle. It's a place where visitors can sit, reflect, and pay their respects to a music legend. Throughout the year, fans from around the world gather here to celebrate John Lennon's life on his birthday (October 9th) and the anniversary of his death (December 8th). It's not uncommon to hear musicians playing Lennon's songs or Beatles classics near the memorial, adding to the serene atmosphere. We had the privilege of seeing Strawberry Fields blanketed in snow in wintertime, which added an extra layer of beauty and serenity to this already special place. It's not just a place; it's a living tribute to an artist whose music continues to inspire and bring people together. It's a five-star destination for fans and anyone seeking a moment of peace and reflection in the heart of Central Park.

Owesome place to get lost in the middle of NYC. Walk along the winding paths Yoko and John used to frequent. Enjoy the singing birds and artist Beatles impersonators. One of kind experience. I took this photo from high above so you can guide yourselves while emerged in the experience down below. Enjoy.

It’s easy to see why John Lennon loved walking in Central Park. While visiting on a rainy day, I found it so peaceful to be in the park and walk around. We saw turtles and red Cardinals and lots of beautiful views and gardens. The place is wonderful. It’s so quiet once you get into the park, you can actually forget you’re in New York City, it’s really quite a unique experience. Make sure you if you visit New York City, get off Times Square for a while and see this beautiful park. It’s well worth the time to go and spend an afternoon.

Yes yes- Beatles, John lennon....blah blah. Good part: an active group of people who seem to take turns playing Beatles tunes (remember to tip!). The bad part- sooooooooo many people. Doht be afraid to say: stop for one minute so we can get a photo without someone in it. Other People will be grateful.

Iconic spot commemorating one of the greatest musicians to ever live: John Lennon. Located in Central Park west, this tile mosaic is called Strawberry Fields. It’s a great place to visit, remember and take pictures. It was just a few meters from here when John Lennon was tragically killed … how could that be?! Imagine all the people, living life in peace. ☮️

This is a good place to sit and think about yourself. A place of memory for a musician, but it seems to me that people come here to grieve about other people - departed relatives and friends. It is better to come here before 10:00 am and after 10:00 pm, as there are a lot of people here during the day. Live music often plays here, creative people gather.

Awesome spot to visit. We came with a tour guide and he explained a lot of details. The only negative was a Beatles cover singer playing music in the "quiet area" expecting tips.

Imagine a world where John Lennon wasn’t taken from us so early, and so tragically. That’s what I do when I come here. Thank you for your music, John.

If you're a Beatles fan, you'll enjoy this place. It's something simple but a beautiful tribute anyway. The place is most of the time surrounded by a lot of people ans music... Beatles' music, of course. Nice atmosphere.

How can you not love this spot. It’s a reminder that we can come together as people. Anytime and I mean anytime I’m anywhere this side of the park I make a beeline straight to this spot. On the day that I came by I saw people being friendly and dogs sharing the love also. Make sure you come by at least once in your life, yeah it’s that important.

Ok. I love central park. GORGEOUS. I love the Beatles. But what is the big deal on this? My wife and I went out of our way to see this... see what??? There's a mosaic on the sidewalk... nice. But the "fields" are just another lawn of the park. Oh, it's fine, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Quiet serene location that is great if you want to meditate, do yoga, or read a book. Sometimes those playing guitars, etc at the nearby John Lemon Memorial can be a distraction though because BOTH are designated quiet zones If my review helped, give it a thumbs up 🤗

Wow! How can I put into words? How special this incredible Memorial for John Lennon is. After years i finally went on a anniversary day we lost John. I was told it was the only year Yoko made a visit. Without going into all the details. After she put down some flowers. I said something to her. Then she threw a kiss for everyone. I have that photo. So its was a very emotional day for me. Plus one of the photos I took of the memorials. That so many placed down in honor of John. Is in the photo archives and the web site at the Smithsonian.

Strawberry Fields is another beautiful piece of Central Park. The mosaic on the ground is dedicated to Beatles legend John Lennon. I was disappointed that there were no actual strawberries growing here. I think they some plant some and see how it goes.

The place where John Lennon was shot by Mark Chapman outside his Manhattan residence in Central Park. It is marked by a large tilled medallion set in concrete with the word IMAGINE. Local guitarists and artists sing and play his songs on benches set around the spot. Another nice Memorial is also nearby and started by his wife Yoko Ono. I couldn't help but feel a little emotional and pleased that I was able to pay my respects for such a great singer/ songwriter that became a legend.

Other than a memorial for John Lennon it wasn’t much of a big deal. The coolest part of visiting was a local playing his music to earn tips. I felt like someone could have built something more interesting to represent how amazing of a person he was.

Visiting Central Park will give you a different perspective of what it is in NYC. Walk around Central Park and will let you know why John Lennon loved walking in the Central Park area and having total contact with nature. Strawberry Fields is a memorial to the British rock musician and peace activist John Lennon (1940–1980). The memorial consists of a five-acre landscape near the West 72nd Street entrance and includes the Imagine mosaic, where many come to pay tribute to Lennon. The memorial’s name is a reference to the 1967 song Lennon wrote and performed with the Beatles, “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

I have been going here for over FIVE DECADES. Yes, as a proud #nativenewyorker, this is one of my favorite spots in #centralpark. Stroll down the winding path pass the IMAGINE memorial and on the left is a small wooden drawbridge. Twenty feet after the structure is an entrance on the right leading to a small gazebo with a stunning view of the lake (including native local wildlife: pictured) and BOATHOUSE (now open for boat rentals). A historical Hangout for Local youth (circa 1970's- like me) who would cut class and play games #irl . "BEST HANGOUT OF NEW YORK AWARD- RECOMMEND IF YOU CAN FIND IT. IF YOU DO, POST A SELFIE ON Instagram @jamesavatar #becausenewyork

It's the memorial for John Lennon (1940-1980). It is in Central Park, located near West 72 ND Street entrance. The Mosaic spells imagine, and the name strawberry fields is based on a song he wrote and performed with the Beatles called Strawberry Fields forever.

Are you familiar with the story of Strawberry Fields? Why is it always covered with flowers? Have you ever heard The Beatles song? The Strawberry Fields memorial is very close-by the Dakota building, where John Lennon lived his last days and where he was shot at December 8th. The memorial is named after the band’s famous song, that sings about a happier and a bit more unrealistic world. The Strawberry Fields are usually covered with flowers and small presents, that were left by fans of the Beatles, John Lennon, and music in general. They still mourn the death of one of the biggest music geniuses that ever walked the earth. Besides its huge sentimental value, The Strawberry Fields memorial is not the most remarkable thing in Central Park, at least at a first look. It is a landscaped section encircled by floral border. The whole thing is paved by a Portuguese pavement. The curious story here is that it was made by Italian master craftsmen and was donated to New York by the Italian city of Naples. There’s a single word written inside of the circle. It is the word “Imagine” after the title of Lennon’s most famous song. We can only imagine what could have been if John was still alive today…

This is always a must visit spot for me! I love it! I wish people would understand that it’s a memorial and be more respectful... many people are there and loud at times, while this is a “quiet place” even posted as such SMH.

This area dedicated to the memory of John Lennon is a perfect place for quiet reflection or just resting and taking in the vibes around you. Located just a quick walk inside Central Park near the Dakota building where Lennon lived and was shot, there are usually buskers nearby singing Beatles and John Lennon music in tribute. I try to be sure I spend at least a few minutes here every time I'm in NYC.

On our guided tour, this was the only part of Central Park that we "visited". Our guide was in a hurry. Luckily my wife is well read on the history of that area. She should have given the tour. It is a touching tribute to John Lennon and so wonderfully positioned near his home. If you go, plan a spring or summer trip to spend more time in the park.

It is open to the public and I liked that the crowd around there was respectful and didn't abuse the John Lenon tribute, it's quite easy (for me) to take a good picture among all the people. The spot is near to the street so you don't need to get lost into the central park, and yeah, if you are lucky there will be musicians playing The Beatles songs to set the mood on

I'm a Beatles maniac....and it was beautiful. John Lennons wife Yoko Ono gifted the imagine plaque in Central park right across the St and building where they lived. It's right next to Central Park and near the hotel where he sadly got shot. The sign says 'Strawberry Fields', and you just have to walk into it. Very nice how they have this year to remember him by and mourn his death. Wasn't too busy when we went, just a few people like us taking photos.
