If you take advantage of a political situation by taking taxpayers' monies to line the coffers of Rockpoint Group (private equity fund who owns the hotel) at the request of corrupt politicians, I cannot in good conscience rate the hotel highly....! Edit: ~20,000,000 USD dollars a month according to hotel employees Likely at least 4 months so that's close to 80 million Hotel was opened 2014, so likely they do not care about our public reviews

We have never had a bad stay in NYC until this hotel. The location was great. Nearby to a lot of attractions however, that is about it for positives. Everything looked dirty, including our room that had hairs in the bathroom from previous guests. The cups to use had the lid on, which made you think they were clean but in fact they were used. It was extremely hot in our room and the thermostat did not work. We didn’t get back to the room until late because we had went to a baseball game. We called for someone to fix it but took so long I had to cancel because my young son had fallen asleep. So we “slept” in a room that read 82 degrees. I could not wait until morning so that we could pack up and check out. The front desk was less that understanding and pleasant and actually asked why I waited to complain at check out. I have spent weeks making calls and leaving messages to get a refund of a resort fee we were promised and today was told we would not be getting anything additional none of the interactions I had with representatives of this hotel were pleasant. I definitely do not recommend.

STOLE OUR MONEY. Avoid. There are plenty of accommodations in the area. We booked a room for early November with a no cancellation policy. One week before our stay, we received an email canceling our stay. "We regret to inform you that the Row nyc won’t be able to accommodate your reservation due to unforeseen issues out of the hotel’s control." They tried to transfer our reservation to the Crown Plaza. We contacted the Crown all the way up to our stay and they could not find us in their system. Row canceled our reservation and failed to properly transfer us to the Crown. One month later, they charged our card and will not refund us per their no cancellation policy. We did not cancel this stay and are out $1149.03. AVOID.

Completely awful experience. Went there and saw Dora the explorer running around with boots. The worst parts were watching the people staying there have food fights by throwing it at each other, because they claim it’s “indigestible”. Also couldn’t go to sleep because alls I heard was fiesta sounds at all hours of the night.

I tried to get a room here; but, was sadly informed that the hotel is being used to house aliens who crossed the border illegally. Very shameful that they would non citizens before they house us citizens who are forced to sleep on the streets.

One of the worst hotels I have ever seen. Trash everywhere , smells like pee and alcohol. I took the stairs and ran into a group for kids drinking out of a liquor bottle. I don't know what kind of business they are running there. But I will never be back. It's practically a 3rd world country.

My entire illegal family is staying there thanks to Biden and the Democrats in New York FOR FREE!!!! I would give more stars for housing them! I also want to thank the TAX PAYERS that are making it free! This is a great country! EVERYTHING SHOULD BE FREE LIKE THIS! FREE FOOD! FREE TICKETS FOR BROADWAY! FREE PHONE! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Bought some Chanel earrings whilst I was in NYC in June 2022, I had put them in the bedside drawer, after being out for the day we came back to the room which the cleaner had been in and the earrings were gone. I reported this to security in the hotel who took my email address and said would get back to me, this didn’t happen and they have ignored further emails from myself. Nice hotel but don’t leave anything in your room you don’t want stealing.

CORRECTION ABOUT ROOM SIZE - SEE BELOW We had a Deluxe City View room with 2 double beds for 2 adults, 2 children (teens). . The size of the room was comfortable for NY sizes. We had room to stow our luggage (we had 2 large pieces). This room was larger than the New Yorker, where we stayed a few years back - at that hotel there was no room for luggage and we were walking over it. It was pretty tight. This room was comfortable. Good TV quality, nice view. Room was quiet. I never heard anyone above us or rarely in the hallway. Staff was very nice and the housekeeping team was very helpful and friendly. The only thing I would comment on is that I noticed that the room was not vacuumed every day. I did leave a nice note requesting that it be done and it was (we often brought pizza home and no matter how hard we tried, we made a few crumbs). Location wise, it's great if you want to be in the thick of things and by the theaters. It wasn't our first choice but our first hotel closed so we had to find an alternative. Still, a good deal and quality for the price.

This hotel will never recover after what they have stooped down to. What a pathetic shame! Not only will their reputation be permanently destroyed, but I'm sure the rooms will be as well after housing the illegal invaders. End Liberalism forever!

They are currently closed to the public. They are using tax payer dollars to house and feed illegals, while there are homeless US citizens on the sidewalk right outside. The hotel investors love it because it’s guaranteed money. But it’s our money that they’re getting to house people who shouldn’t even be here in rooms way nicer than our apartments we struggle to afford as citizens. Took a budget cut from the VA to make this happen. But screw our veterans right? We’d rather house illegals for more blue votes.

Changing to a 1. I’ve been chasing down a receipt for over a week. No one will assist. No one returns emails. The answering service cannot provide any contact method other than to call a number where the operator just routes you back. Avoid this place at all costs. Yes, the price and location are great. The rest, not so much. The elevators have a wait of about 15-30 minutes any time you want to go anywhere. The restaurant/lobby area is closed off often, and there are no outlets to work from. The "business center" is an open area by the front desk. The rooms are tiny, as expected. My room was clean, but my colleague's was filthy. I don't think I have ever stayed in a hotel that I wouldn't return to, but this will be it. I am also trying to chase down a receipt, which has lead to multiple unanswered emails to billing, calls that are transferred and dropped, a front desk that is "too busy" to get to it today and cannot assist, and finally one pleasant person working in reservations that is trying to chase it down for me. If it wasn't for her, this would be a 1.

Hotel itself wasn’t terrible, how ever there is a hidden amenity fee that they do not tell you about until you get to the front desk. Room was tiny, did not have a microwave or fridge. If you don’t want to use the stupid gym you still have to pay for it. No continental breakfast, just a bar with overpriced drinks. Good for sleeping and that’s about it. Can’t recommend.

The location is convenient to Times Square, the theater district, and numerous restaurants and bars. However, the rooms are unusually small, and the rooms, view, hallways, and elevators are dismal. In addition, there was a constant foul odor in the elevator. The elevators take an exceptionally long time to arrive at the floor after being called and will sometimes skip the floor. Worst of all, the hotel added a $250.00 smoking penalty to my rate after I checked out. I don't smoke and certainly didn't smoke in the room.

The location of the Hotel is great, however the hotel isn't that good. First of all the rooms were very small and crowded, you barely had room to move if you were with someone. The bed sheets were absolutely terrible they were very rough and it felt like they had sand on it, utterly uncomfortable to sleep at. I have never had such a bad experience at sleeping Lastly the heating system, how does "The best city in the world" have an hotel with a Heating system from 1886 (Stated by a worker). The heater was way too hot and there was no way of turn it down, the only solution they gave us was to open the window with all the traffic noises.

I stayed at the Row NYC recently and it was relatively cheap, pleasant and the location is perfect! I enjoyed it, but I had reasonable expectations. It is not high end luxury 5-star service like the Four Seasons or Intercontinental so don’t expect that. The rooms are acceptably clean, the staff is nice enough until the day you check out and then their bipolar switch gets thrown. I got a comfortable bed with heating/air conditioning and hot water. I was in NYC to enjoy being outside and about; not enjoy being in the room and it did fulfill that basic need.

This was the perfect spot for my stay in NYC. The location is unbeatable, close to everything with endless late night food options. The price is right, so I don’t have many qualms with the hotel’s quirks. The rooms are “modern” but a little worn out, and the elevators were extremely slow as there were so many guests trying to access the same floors. However, the staff was kind and helpful, and my requests were filled quickly and efficiently, a big plus! If you need a cheap room while you enjoy the sights and sounds of NYC, this is the place for you!

They are closed because they are using tax payer dollars to house illegal immigrants. This and four other 4 and five star hotels in NYC. THERE ARE 30 floors and they're full.

I was excited for my first visit to New York. This property was definitely a NO! For me. For starters the hotel manager was not friendly but actually rude in a sense. Secondly, I paid $325 for 2 days. I didn’t care about the price until I seen the quality of the hotel. The room was not properly and thoroughly cleaned. It is not up to date. Only in the lobby. There was no microwave which was needed since I traveled with a child under 5yrs old. This hotel has potential but needs to do better.

Nice hotel, right around the corner from Times Square. The lobby is very nice and open. The rooms are indeed small, but not bothersome (we had the Superior room). The room is no-frills, but comfy. The bed was nice and there was a bit of storage. The bathroom is very small but it has everything you might need. Our room was clean; we didn’t have the issues some reported, but it could have used a deep cleaning in some spots, it definitely doesn’t look brand new. The elevators were fine, yes we did have to wait a few minutes but nowhere near what some report. The front desk was also fairly quick and easy, and the employees were very friendly. They were able to give us a larger bed so we had more space to sleep. It’s very close to Times Square, but it’s far enough from the crowd that it doesn’t feel too crazy right outside, although it’s still busy. If you’re looking for a hotel near Times Square and Hell’s Kitchen, I would stay here. I personally would not stay near Times Square again, but I really don’t like the touristy crowds and fanfare. Otherwise it was a good, smooth stay and the room was perfect for the long weekend.

Location was the best. I walked out of the hotel and was in Times Square. However, there was only one person working the desk when I arrived, so check-in took an hour. The room served its purpose for the amount of time I needed it, but it was small, very small. The drawers stayed open. I don’t know why, but they would not shut and stood wide open. The bathroom door had to be propped open to stay open. Maybe that’s a NY fire hazard precaution for the door to automatically stay shut. There is really no privacy in the rooms. The doors have a gap at the bottom which brought in the noise from the hallway and allowed me to hear every conversation going in in the rooms when I walked down the hall. Also, I needed ice one night but discovered there was none on my floor. The lighting in the halls needs to be turned up. It was a little dark. If you have bad knees, these beds might not work for you. They are low. On the bright side, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and without bugs. The staff was always very helpful if I needed help with anything. Checkout is beautiful; just drop the key in the box. I had to leave out at 3:00am. All in all, not a bad experience, but some things could be better.

This was the second time I had booked my room with them considering that I had stayed with them in 2017. The location is superb, very close to Time square. Quality and standard of amenities in the room has gone down. I paid 1400$ for 4 nights. The room doesn't even provided basic amenities like a toothbrush. There was trash left over behind the bed. Basic amenities like tea/coffee is also not given in the room, no kettle, no coffee maker, no fridge. The lady who checked me in was very unwelcoming and cold (she didn't have name batch). Rather than checking me in she was more interested with the conversation happening between the other receptionist and a guy over the other counter. She told me I need to pay for 150$ extra as a deposit, I gave her 200$ least bothered she kept the entire amount and when I asked for my balance very casually she replied" I got busy and then I forgot" and didn't give me my balance back because she started taking to other guy over the counter who wasn't even taking to her. Totally unprofessional staff! The staff standing outside the elevator are warm and humble. The lady who checked me out was very good and friendly. Also, don't forget to take you check out receipt just to make sure they don't charge for extra stuff that who might haven't used as they didn't provide me with any receipt so I don't know what all they charged me for!

I truly enjoyed my stay. I loved the view, the bed is comfy. Good location. Cleaning Lady’s on point. However, I would have loved to see at least a microwave or a small freezer in our room. They should also have a bathroom odor filter. If there was one, it wasn’t working.

While it is very convenient to the theatre district that is it’s only plus. I was given a key but not the room number. You cannot call the front desk from your cell because there is no direct number to the front desk and they cannot transfer you. I had to go back down to the front desk which wasn’t easy as I am handicapped. Got the room number but then the key didn’t work! Back down again! Ugh! No one told me there were telephones in the hallway to the front desk. An employee came back up and got me in the room. Most uncomfortable room ever. One hard chair, futon mattresses that were hard as rocks and woke up sore. Window didn’t close properly so there was a cold breeze. Choice of to much heat or to cold. No washcloths in shower, toilet so low had to fall onto it and needed counter to pull up with. All in all uncomfortable and miserable night. The lobby was freezing and I might as well have waited for my husband outside! The front desk staff is snarky and impatient. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in except for the one that usually rented by the hour!

Arrived at The Row with a little trepidation after reading other reviews but was pleasantly surprised, the kind young man on reception upgraded our room after asking what the trip was for & he refunded half our resort fees. Room was very clean & fantastic views, quiet & very comfortable. Linen was changed daily, and the bed was huge. Toiletries supplied & everything was clean & tidied daily. I would definitely stay here again. Great hotel !

Great price for a great location. Junior at the front desk had great hospitality and treated me so well. I’ve stayed in higher price point hotels in the same area and don’t get the same ambiance as this one. I stayed on the 26th floor and the view was immaculate overseeing the water and partial skyline of Manhattan. The floor mat for the shower was missing and that was the only thing missing in the room. The room gave me small apartment vibes but still sufficed with the comfortable bed. A fridge would have been nice as well.

The best feature of this hotel is definitely the amazing location! The view was also awesome. The hotel per se, however, is still a budget Hotel, so do not expect much. Rooms are quite compact. Still, compared to other hotels in the region, it is a fairly good and cheap option.

I choose to stay at The Row mainly for the location. You’re right next to Times Square, and for the price it was rather cheap. Yes-the room was small but for me, my friend, & my 4 year old it was perfect! It’s NYC for that matter. I found the service there decent, we didn’t need much of anything cause we were out wondering the city the entire time but the check in/check out process was smooth.

Pros-Close to Times Square, theatre district, eats, convenience stores, transportation, etc...you can literally walk to the theatres from here. Room was exceptionally clean., I personally loved the elevator system. Not a pro or con: Yes, the hotel is old and the age is visible in certain areas of the room and furniture. But, overall, kept well for it's age. More modern and more room will mean more money in NY. If you just need someplace to sleep and bathe this is comfy enough to get that done. Cons-disregard pics...rooms are extremely small. Even elevator was small. The bathroom is too small to even change clothes in. The beds, although comfy, were low to ground. We upgraded to a room with a "view" but the view was nothing to write home about.

Booked my stay on Airbnb and thought it was a good price and good location. However upon arrival I was told I would have to pay an additional $40 a night, so $80 for my two night stay. I was not made aware beforehand about the additional fee otherwise I would have cancelled my reservation and gone to a more appropriately priced hotel. Very disappointed in my stay at Row NYC. The view was also very poor-facing a brick wall and other rooms. The room itself was small and not cleaned properly. Please book your stay at a different hotel and save yourself the hassle and money.

Great experience! Extremely good location - a few minutes walk away from St Paul's, Times Square, Central Park, etc. Plus, there's a subway entrance a minute walk away from the lobby! Clean rooms, friendly staff, comfortable bathroom. No weird odors, everything in the room worked. Water and ice are available on every floor. The only downsides were the rooms were rather small, the elevators were slow and warm, and the high 'service fee' they charge you at the desk when you check in. We booked three days at $453 from Airbnb and they charged an extra $50 for security deposit and an additional $180 for service fee (20 dollars per guest per day)

I'd give it a 3.5. It was about 177/night after all the fees and everything were added in, which is expensive for the size of the room, but it's New York and has a great location, so I get it. The elevators are obnoxious. You will sometimes wait 15 minutes or more for the elevator to go to your floor, and it will keep assigning people to the same elevator so there is no room to even get on it once it arrives. Also the smell of weed was overwhelming every night. Kept floating in from other rooms. That is a guest issue, not the hotels, but it was obnoxious and I was worried that the smell may be so great in my room that they would assume I was smoking and try to charge extra so I went ahead and reported it to cover my butt. I would stay again if it was cheap again relative to the other hotels. I wasn't planning on spending time in my room anyway so the size of the room wasn't an issue for one person for a few nights. It felt safe and again you can't beat the location.

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The check-in was about 25 minutes. The hotel had a slight smell to it. In order to get on the elevators is a bit complicated at first. The security was tight which I appreciated since we were literally downtown. The hallways are extremely dark for no reason. The rooms are no bigger than a university dorm room. The hotel is one of the less expensive hotels you can stay at in New York. I can honestly say the location was amazing. Everything was literally near us. Time square was little a block or two away. Broadway was the next block over.

Great experience! Extremely a GREAT location - a few minutes walk away from Times Square, Central Park, ect. My room was clean & stacked up with enough clean towels. No issues at check in or check out. Love also how they allow you to check in early for only $30 buck more. That save me and my friend, Also Love how they have security at night. You get what you pay for. Definitely will stay here again!!

Good price and location but young people making too much noise all over the place. Rooms: Old carpet and very dirty. Bed comfortable but worn out. Linen clean and safe but make sure you bring sleepers to avoid getting any fungus from the carpet, just in case. Lobby always busy, not good customer service average. Best thing is the housekeepers, nice ladies always willing to help you and offering to take care of the room, they really were the nice face of the hotel. But next time I rather pay little extra and stay in a 5 star hotel. This hotel should be only 2 max 3 stars. J.

Great location, nice hotel. Would have gave a higher rating except they posted the lowest rates in the area but then charged an extra $236.95 in “facilities fees” (another name for resort fees) so really the rate they posted is just a bait and switch (as it made them more expensive than other hotels that did not charge a resort fee). Also the Gym was closed and it advertised free wifi so what was the facility fee for ? I am always disappointed when hotels participate in this Deceptive and illegal practice.

I do not recommend it, it is a terrible service. We paid over $ 240 per day and the elevators were not working on any day, they made us go up the service elevator with all the employees waiting for the elevator sometimes up to 35 minutes. the rooms are small and dirty, unpleasant experience

I booked online last July for August for five nights and I got a bill of 569$ including all the taxes and when I got there they said you have to pay 615$ for the 5 nights and an extra 50$ for the security deposit, so I didn't get back my deposit even I left the room very clean and organized. I sent them an email claimed my money and they didn't responded. I'll not recommend this terrible hotel.

Location is nice but that was the only positive. Rooms are extremely small with worn furniture. Staff were not at all friendly- very short tempered and would ignore your presence until you said something. There was a “resort” fee of $67 dollars. Not sure where that money goes because the rooms did not even have a mini fridge or microwave. The shower curtains were not long enough and whenever you use the shower the bathroom would be flooded. I called to report this and they brought two extra towels. Great solution… I do not recommend you staying here.

So I was really scared after seeing all of the negative reviews, but honestly, this hotel is not that bad. The rooms are really small with not much room for luggage, but they are clean. They also let us drop off our luggage since we were early for check in, which was really nice. The staff are all so nice, and they were able to help us get to where we needed to go. The location is so amazing. It’s right on Times Square, which is so convenient, but it’s also close to grand central terminal, Central Park, and a bunch of other attractions and food. I will say, the decor on the room floors is really weird, and the walls are paper thin, but it’s a good budget option. Definitely wouldn’t say it’s 4 stars though. If you’re just looking for a place to crash at night after a day exploring NY, I’d recommend this hotel.

I stayed in the Row NYC hotel last month. There are lots of unauthorized charges on my card. I have been back in my country for 2 weeks now, they still trying to deduct my card, what is going on? Hotel deposit was taken 5 times and never refunded. I reached out to the hotel couple of times, they don't even bother acknowledging my emails. Who can I report this matter too.

Excellent value - read up, have reasonable expectations and you’ll be fine. Yes, you have to pay some fees at check in but this was expected by us as we did our research beforehand. We arrived around 5 PM on a Friday and the check-in line was huge; after about an hour we were in our room. Line ups for the elevator were also often long. Otherwise, the room was great value for money, and we have no complaints whatsoever about cleanliness. The location was excellent, just steps from Times Square and very close to the subway. It’s not the most glamorous, but we certainly had no issues as described as others here and enjoyed our stay - for the quite affordable cost and location, it’s hard to beat.

I was a little nervous to stay here after reading the reviews but I’m SO glad I didn’t listen to them! This hotel was great! Perfect location, the beds are cozy, our room was clean and had fantastic views. The front desk was very helpful and let us check in early. Our room was big enough we both could have done push ups and jumping jacks. For those who want to stay in a great location for their visit in NYC, I’d recommend here!

I’ve stayed at the Row a few times. My first time was for my birthday in 2018. I rented a room to be able to enjoy going out for the festivities and come back knowing I’m going to have a comfortable night. I also had the pleasure being here recently two more times. My partner and I have rented a room here to have some time together and we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere it provides. We don’t need a lot to be comfortable. But our last stay recently, we did have quite a warm night. If we turned the AC on it was too cold. 65-70 is the setting. We even had it on fan. But when we turned it off it was too hot. And the pillow for me the last time was a bit uncomfortable for me. I thought it was more pillows the last two times, but the third we only had 2. Made it difficult to be comfortable because it kept sneaking into the crevice of the bed and backboard.

The room was so small I couldn’t breathe. The view was so bad it was a view of brick walls and the window was so small. The ambience of the hotel is very dark. The elevators are dark and small. The hallways are dark. The lines for check in are so long. It’s only one lady that works in the front desk. I left and booked at Courtyard Marriott.

For being a four star hotel, my experience was pretty terrible. The room had dingy curtains and a stained tub. The room was tiny and you could hear everything happening in the adjacent rooms. The cleaning staff was great considering that everything was old and I'm not sure there was anything they could have done better to brighten up the dingy materials. I didn't really interact with other staff, but one of the front desk receptionists was super super rude. The elevator situation is also terrible. They need more than one elevator bank instead of a single bank with multiple elevators. They also don't let food delivery come up and there is no in room service from the hotel. If this had been a two star hotel it would have been fine. Considering the price, location, and stars, I just expected a lot more .

The hotel was in a perfect spot. Walking distance to everything! It was my first time in New York so I expected a small room but this one didn't even have a fridge or microwave. It was so small like a dorm room. It was very clean though. You have to let the shower run a while before the hot water kicks in. I think if you're not too high maintenance, it is a good hotel. I would stay there again.

I stayed there I was expecting to see a cacaroach or two, but I saw no cacaroach anywhere. It's because it's a old building maybe you expect to see a cacaroach every now and then. The bed was a little bit lumpy, the bedsheets didn't smell like R Kelly, but they weren't Alpine Glade either. The rooms is small but we was on the 24th floor, so it looked a little bigger.

Avoid at all costs. It’s infested with bedbugs and me and my family were covered in bites after our long flight from Vancouver with layovers, when we just wanted to rest. They moved us to another room that also had bedbugs and we only received a partial refund in the end. Terrible hotel that only cares about money, does not care about people.
