Ok so when I was reading the reviews for this hotel it was hard to get a clear idea of what to expect. I saw good comments as well as people complaining about a lot of stuff. This is exactly what to expect from this place, trust me. If this is your first time in NY (on a budget) and are struggling to find the perfect place, this hotel is a great choice. The staff was extremely friendly, the lobby is really comfortable, the elevators were acting a little crazy, the rooms and restroom are fairly small for the price however the bed was really comfortable, and the hallways were extremely quiet! you will not have any disturbances whatsoever! The hotel is located a block away from Times Square which makes it very convenient to get around Manhattan. I confidently recommend this place to anyone who’s going on a weekend! I hope this is helpful to anyone traveling sometime soon.

We have a few nights left but wanted to leave a review about our stay thus far. The front desk attendants were excellent, very kind and attentive. The elevators required our room key to get upstairs which in my opinion was great. The housekeepers were very polite and kind as well. All the staff we have come across deserve 5 stars alone. Literally my only complaint is the tiny tiny bathroom, being a bigger girl it was tricky to maneuver but doable. Location was great and price was okay. Overall id come back if i wanted to be in the center of it all again.

The rooms are tiny, yes, but it's an old hotel. I get that. They will advertise on some discount sites, but will then charge you random fees to bring it back up to whatever the normal rate is once you get there, better to book straight through them as you end up paying less. They obviously spent a penny on the lobby and didn't really translate much of that to the appointments in the rooms themselves. So if you like hanging out in lobbies, it's a jam. The fitness center was... kinda awful. The HVAC was broken so it was always just 80 degrees in there. The ceiling was falling down and stuff was coming off the walls. The toilet didn't work. But the "facilities fee" of $40/night to use it was still in full effect. That was the only "facility" type thing available, no business center, no lounge or anything like that. They have a bar with typically priced drinks for the area and you get a 10% discount if you stay with them. The photos of the area with the shuffleboard and all that... that's not a real thing at the time of writing. It was fine, good location, wouldn't stay there again.

Aside from an excellent location adjacent to Times Square, this place is a dump. Myself, my wife and two daughters checked in here and left after one night to move to a much nicer hotel a few blocks away. Forgoing the possibility of a refund was worth not having to have another night here. A few points about this hotel: 1) Like I mentioned above, perfect location. That is where the positives end. 2) The room was dirty, with stains on the bedding, carpets, and walls. 3) The window has no proper seals, so cold air poured into the room. It is winter, so this is clearly not ideal. 4) The air conditioner was loud, and rattled. As such, no hope of sleeping with it on to warm the room. 5) I do not begrudge people for smoking weed, but the entire hotel stinks of the stuff. 6) No adequate towels. 7) Bathroom looks like a truck stop toilet. Damaged tiling, chipped paint. All in all, I would recommend that you avoid. Unless the above isn’t an issue for you.

Perfect location to stay over night if you are planning to enjoy a broadway show. The staff welcomed us with great professionalism. Very friendly and polite. The room provided what we needed. Nothing fancy although it is a historical legacy built in the 1920's. The room was very clean and had a good smell. I will probably replace the bathroom sink, though. Otherwise, I will consider to stay there again.

Amazing location, essentially in Time Square. Staff at check-in and bag check were great. Management should give them more help to reduce check-in wait times. The bed was very comfortable. We slept well. The carpet in our room was dingy and stained. It needs to be replaced or at a minimum deeply steam cleaned. The bathtub in our room was missing a good bit of enamel and needs to be repaired. The lobby is nice. Bagcheck is nice. Be careful to read the fine print. You'll be charged an extra $40 fee at check-in. I would have been happier if all fees had been included in the advertised rate. You shouldn't have to read the fine print for that.

Lobby is really elegant & chic. Looks like it's been recently remodeled & the stadd was very friendly. We were told right away that there are renovations to begin this coming January & that the vibe will be catered to the under 35 crowd soon. The main floor bar had good drinks & fast service. Nice atmosphere. 2 of the 4 elevators are kind of dingy. The buttons are broken & the floor tiles are cracked. Everything is dimly lit, but I liked it for the ambiance. Rooms are VERY small. We didn't spend time in our room but to sleep, so it served the purpose fine, but I'd imagine if you were planning to lounge around, this isn't the room. Shower water pressure & the shower getting hot were just fine for us on the 10th floor & we didn't deal with bugs, noise or anything else. Very relaxing, nice stay overall. Next time we'd prefer a room with a street view but other than that, wonderful stay.

I will not be staying here again. Front of the hotel and lobby are very nice but the rooms are not quite what they show in the lobby. The room was poorly cleaned from the bathroom to the floor, walls, and night stands. The shower was clogged so it didn’t drain properly. I had a front desk staff disturb me from my sleep at 1 am to “verify” I was checked in, which I clear was (Already was in my room and was sleeping in it). I notified the front desk next morning and didn’t really appear much of a surprise. I then tried leaving my bags with the hotel for a bit while I got a coffee after I checked out (You’re required to pay $2 cash per bag), I proceeded to leave 1 bag, and get my coffee (I did not have cash, so I went to the ATM). I came back to pay and gave the bag staff a $20 bill, he came back with $16, I told him he was wrong since it was supposed to be $2. He proceeded to try and scam me, saying he thought I left 2 bags instead of 1. After I corrected him and showed him the only bag, he gave me the other $2 that was ALREADY in his hand from what he was supposed to give me. I believe he saw the foreign face in me but I have lived here for many years, so just watch out for that!

We are on a short trip on NY and trying to make the most of it. We had a blast until today. We came to switched to this hotel today bc the hotel we were staying at did not have availability for our last two nights here. Ever since we arrived to this hotel today there has been an issue on top of an issue. We arrived and as soon as we get to the room we see the SAFE and AC do not work. We already had a visit plan today but had to put a stop to it, call guest services and wait till the issues were fixed. Eng arrived and told us they could not fix the safe and they did NOT have another one to replace it. So no safe for personal belongings. (How this room was inspected and passed for a guest to use, I am clueless) We ignored that. He supposedly fix the AC & it started cooling the room. We were happy with that. We decided to go out to enjoy our day. We just arrived and again the AC is not working and is super hot. We are so frustrated and upset that it looks like we either have to switch rooms during the overnight since we already paid for a show now and cant do it now or switch hotels again. This hotel is literally waisting our time of vacation.

Listen to the reviewers who say the rooms are small. We expected that going in because of the reviews, but it seems others who rated poorly didn't do their research. However, room size is pretty unimportant when on vacation because all you need the place for is sleep. I found the room charming and actually fairly nice considering the small size. The staff were all very helpful and super nice. Can't beat the location and price of this place. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Just checked in. The good: Location, lobby. The bad: The room. Tiny, old equipment, safe is not working, window is not soundproof, bedsheets are stained as well as the WC porcelain, the mirror is fixed simply with a wire, and the sink looks like it was from a train. As I paid 350$ for one night, this is way below expectations. Addendum: Paid $50 for late check-out (2pm instead of 11am), but of course the key card was not working anymore when we returned to the room at 1:45.

I am not one to leave one star reviews, but I want to warn people here to save them some trouble. We were super disappointed with our stay at the Paramount hotel. We checked in online, and then again at the hotel and we had to leave our bags because the room wasn't ready yet. We had to do a second check in when we picked up our bags, and when we were doing the second check in the woman working at the concierge informed us that there was a mistake in the system and that they didn't reserve us a room. I asked myself how did they realise only after the 3rd check in process that there was problem with our reservation. Luckily they found us a room. The lobby was nice and renovated but that was about it. The rooms must of not have been renovated in years. The bathroom was unsightly. There was so much dirt under the bed. There were coffee stains and dirt in the shower, and so we decided to ask the concierge if something could be done for us. Instead of changing our room, they offered to come up and clean the stains and the dirty shower. there was always a 10 minute or more line to talk to someone at the concierge (normally only one person working at the desk). We didn't seem to be the only one with a problem ... other guests last night had an over booking problem, and one of the elevators was blocked and someone was stuck inside. Our stay wasn't so expensive for NYC there, but its still difficult to pay 145 dollars for a room, for there to be so many problems and for it to be so dirty.

The only thing I liked about this hotel was the location. It was a short walk to Times Square, Broadway, and other landmarks. That’s pretty much it. First of all, the lobby is under construction, which was not announced anywhere before/during booking. It was a complete eyesore and made the lobby an inadequate spot for hanging out. Moreover, I was not placed in the proper room I had booked. I had paid for and reserved a “Superior Room”. There was nothing superior about the room I was assigned. It was tiny, the bed was a full, and looked nothing like the pictures online. Very disappointing.

The hotel was great but it was limited. There was no microwave, no fridge, and it was so small. The view was of a construction site. The remote of the TV is very sensitive every time I touched it I would have to set it up all over again. The beds were clean and we had everything we needed. It was a good stay.

Only giving 2 stars because the staff is friendly, helpful, and very responsive. I was able to extend my stay from one to two nights on the fly when my hotel did not work out for Friday night. However, things went downhill from there. I got in at 3AM due to transportation delays and the check-in process was a bit slow. It was also not explained to me how to use the elevator scanning key so I was confused about that. When I got to my tiny, dingy room that honestly reminds me more of a hostel, I couldn’t find my towels and I had to call the front desk. They were hidden on a shelf behind the mirror but I would have never seen them (they claimed the hotel is going for a minimalistic style). I also took a shower the next day and discovered I had no wash clothes. Speaking of the shower. My bathtub wouldn’t drain. Back to that first night. When I got to the room it was 66 degrees (cold early January night) and the thermostat was set to cool. I turned on the heat and the heater sounded terrible rattling like crazy. The heater would not run long and would not get above 70 no matter how high I turned it and the room was cold. I eventually had to call the front desk again (at this point it was like 4:30AM) and they were very responsive and quick but they apparently have some sort of setting that only allows the heaters to run for a very short time. Even after the fix the heater wouldn’t stay on very long. I don’t know how this hotel is rated 4-stars. It’s definitely not. Location is great but know what you’re getting into. There are better hotels around that are probably just a little more expensive when you add in the taxes and fees. My total was $312 and some change for 2 nights. You definitely get what you pay for.

We stayed for 6 nights at the 19th floor. This hotel is perfectly located. Less than a minute walking to times square and very close to public transportation. Staff was nice once we got there. We had a small issue with the sink on the first night, but I reported it and the problem was solved on the same day! The room was good, small of course, but you get what you paid for. Cleaned everyday, with changed towels. Cons: - no breakfast available - i paid a fee of 100$ upon arrival, which was not clear when I booked the hotel. until today i don't know exactly what was that, but i think they call it "facility fee" - the noise you could hear from the window

The location is perfect, it couldn't be better and closer. Excellent, clean, everyone was very friendly. The rooms are a little smaller, but we expected that in the center of New York. It also depends on what kind of room you book, so they have larger and more spacious rooms, we actually just slept and showered in the room, and spent all our time touring the city. Times Square is a few steps from the hotel, and it was still quiet in the hotel and we could sleep well. I can only recommend this hotel, we had no complaints. I like that you can also leave your luggage with them, if you arrive early, or have to leave the room early, for a really great price. I look forward to coming again.

Friendly staff!!! We were several hours early and they allowed us to check in at no extra cost. Door men greeted our Uber to open the entrance door for us. Had great digesting for best coffee and breakfast.. and greeted with great smiles upon entering and exiting time are a bit small but perfect for our needs. Elevators are very quick. We will definitely be returning.

Perfect location! All processes were efficient (valet, check in/out, luggage storage). Was worried due to small room reviews, but all was good. The room was small but not enough to complain about. 2 adults and 1 child fit comfortably in a double bed room with 2 suitcases & multiple backpacks. All parts of hotel experienced were clean. Staff was friendly (one greeter was a little off for my liking, made me slightly uncomfortable but was not unfriendly). I would stay again.

4 days after 9/11, we traveled to help with the search and rescue of victims during the aftermath. This hotel went out of their way to accommodate myself and 3 colleagues from a southern California fire department. They opened their doors to us while we spent countless hours digging other pile. The staff and service was up and beyond anything we could ever ask for. We were able to stay here for a week and were treated with the utmost care.

I had An amazing experience at the Paramount during Fashion Week! I was there to show my line and My accommodations were messed up by the agency I was working with and the staff worked tirelessly to find me a room and resolve my issue eventhough it wasn't their mistake. They were so helpful, pleasant, and truly gave 5 star customer service! I would go back simply to deal with them and feel secure in my stay. Special mention to Sheena and the other staff at front desk! Thank you 😊

My boyfriend and I went there a couple of years ago I had actually been there the year before. You guys rock! Every single member of your staff was polite kind and knowledgeable. The place, the lobby, the rooms, the place for breakfast were above our expectations. Thank you for making our visits so enjoyable.

First time in NYC celebrating my birthday and anniversary. They not only allowed us to check in early but also upgraded our room for the special occasion. Very friendly staff. Great ambiance. Clean room and fresh towels every day. Room has a steamer and hairdryer. Bed was comfortable. Location was everything. Walk out and make a left and you are in the heart of time square. Awesome pizza joint next door. Really couldn’t beat the price for holiday season and was more than pleased with our stay here. Thanks!

Great location close to Times Square. The staff was over the top friendly! We were able to check in early and we ended up getting a room upgrade. Or room had 2 double beds. The room was small but not tiny. No refrigerator or microwave, but plenty of room . There was a single sink in the bathroom. The housekeeping staff did a great job cleaning our room. There is also a small safe in the room. We did not eat or drink at the bar in the Motel. This is a older motel ,but it was clean and I felt safe staying here. I would stay here again

Checking out this morning after a one night stay. Great location. However, if we were staying another night, we would have to change rooms. For starters, the phone is dead (not that any one uses a landline, but we needed to call the desk about the other issues.) The air was stuck on Hot. The "Queen" bed is a full Surfaces are peeling off (see photos) "Closet" is microscopic We set the AC system to "Cool" and returned to a blazing hot room. The system was stuck on high heat. It was unresponsive to the controls. The sink faucets also had issues turning on and off. Since the phone didn't work I had to go downstairs to the desk. They promised to send up an engineering staff person in 15 minutes. After 30 minutes I called down on my cell phone, and spoke to the desk manager who knew nothing about it. This time the maintenance person did show up. They managed to switch the system to cool. However, when we returned later, the fan had gone. Something was running but there was no air blowing out and water was condensing on the cold surfaces but the room wasn't cooling. The location is great, but there are better values available.

I stayed at the hotel his past weekend Thursday Dec 14- Sun Dec 17. Upon my arrival I checked in. I went to hang my clothes in the closet to "greeted" by a pair of used women's underwear just sitting there in plain sight. It made me question the cleanliness of the room, considering the fact that such an item was just left there in a "clean" room . I went downstairs to go to my dinner reservation, informed the front desk. I asked if they can send someone upstairs to clean up and remove the unwanted object. The next day I go back in the room, the bed was fixed, but I was left with another surprise on top of my "clean" bed. Two dirty rugs (blue and pink) which I would assume were used from housecleaning to clean around?? I went back to the front desk to inform them, and all I got was "oh it should not have happened". Yes I know, especially when I am paying $400 a night!!! Lets not forget the sink being clogged and over spilling every time I would brush me teeth. And the shower divider being completely removed and moldy. The worse hotel experience of my life from a room cleaning perspective! Such a disappointment.

Standard room was VERY SMALL. Never stayed in a smaller room. Bathroom sink had no cold water. HVAC system hard to operate, the room was 78°f upon arrival and took hours to cool down. Otherwise it was clean and neat and the elevators worked well.Location is good, if you like times square area.

We stayed here for 3 nights and it is great as a location to visit the City even with the major building works right next door which start at 4am - it actually quite interesting to watch a building site from 9 floors up! The extra charge of $15 a night is strange as they are mainly charging it for hot and cold drinking water but don't provide any room facilities and there isn't much else there, the bar (the 10% discount you are given at the bar is part of your $15 a day charge) was tiny and not worth the visit and then to leave your bags locked up after checkout is an extra $3 charge when any other hotel in the world I've stayed in never charges - NYC may be different? Even with the issues above (plus the room ceiling leaking which they fixed) I recommend it as a good base to visit the city but check that the extra $15 doesn't push it over the room rate for other, better facility hotels.

Location is great for Times Square but is unfortunately next to Scientology building. Ask front desk for more pillows, they kinda skimp on the beds and are a little flat. Face soap bar is the only soap for bathroom sink. Overall nice service and nice desk/call help. Thankfully high up enough from the street so not noisy, but zero view from the window. Can only see brick.

Good hotel for the price. About a 2 minute walk from Times Square. Check in and service was good. There was an issue with the water in the hotel, there was water dripping from the lobby ceiling and my shower did not have hot water. There was also damage to towel racks, light fixtures and the shower itself in the room. Decent experiance other than the areas in need of maintenance.

  • 4/5 Ethan P. 5 months ago on Google
Good location and the room was fine. Only real complaint was the bathroom and it was rough. My sink didn't drain and the shower was on its last legs. Need to redo those, but otherwise it was a good stay.

Fantastic place – the security was courteous and even surprised me by calling my friend's room. It's uncommon for hotels to be so welcoming or make calls without knowing the guest's name, but the Paramount Hotel did just that. They've earned high marks in my book.although the room my friend was in was small but affordable for New York city.

  • 5/5 Gayle T. 5 months ago on Google
Would like to compliment Paramount Hotel on a very pleasant stay. We were only there for one night, but were impressed with this facility. First of all, the location (at least for theater goers) cannot be beat. Front desk staff/concierge were absolutely lovely. The rooms are a bit small & sparse, but are neat, comfortable, & very clean. Our room looked as tho it had recently been repainted. Of course, any hotel in Manhattan (especially the Times Square/theater district) is expensive, but Paramount was a bit more reasonable than most. We will stay at this hotel again, & would recommend it to others.

I’ve rated this hotel with two stars due to several concerns. Firstly, the noise isolation is inadequate; even on higher floors, external sounds are easily heard. Additionally, the 11 AM check-out time is less accommodating compared to other Times Square hotels. While most hotels in the area provide complimentary baggage storage, this hotel charges $2 per bag. Although I understand this information may have been communicated via email, as a regular customer, I’ve noticed significant changes in policies since the hotel’s reopening after the pandemic. The staff remains wonderful and helpful, but it appears that management prioritizes profit over customer satisfaction. Despite being informed about floor renovations, there were no discernible improvements from my last visit before the pandemic. The price here is also considerably higher compared to other hotels in the area. Considering these factors, making a reservation here again will not be a good idea or a positive experience when compared with many other hotels in the area.

After reading some of the reviews prior to our stay, we were a little unsure what to expect however on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The lobby is nice with plenty of comfortable seating (we had a fair bit of sitting around to do on our last day due to our late flight home), the staff were friendly, the gym was small but had enough for a decent ish work out and although the rooms were small (to be expected, it is New York) the bed was comfortable and the room was clean with fresh bedding and towels every day. To conclude, if you are looking for a hotel with a great location and a comfortable clean room for a few nights to use a base, then this hotel is ideal. If you have incredibly high expectations, want a large luxurious room to sit around in with all of the facilities (again, good luck finding that in New York) then this may not be the place for you.

Nice lobby. The staff is very friendly. The location is great!! Our room was on the 18th floor, not much of a view, just the building next door. The room is definitely on the smaller side but great for us, just for one night. Would recommend getting a bigger room next time. But if you’re only spending a night or two, then it’s perfect!!

Review of the Paramount: I read they recently reopened and they should've did traveller's a favor and stay closed. I would NOT recommend this hotel. Dark entrance, unfriendly staff (including management), usually only 1 person at check in (at check in, we waited over 1.5 hours and there was not 1 time that there was not a line up at the desk when we passed by), rooms were small and dirty with loud air conditioners. No face cloths in rooms (had to request), nothing in rooms other than clock and hairdryer. Ice machine only on 1 floor. The small room and grosse showers - it was either too hot or freezing. Paint peeling and not kept up. Very dated rooms. The staff were absolutely the rudest and most ignorant unhelpful staff/people I dealt with in New York (possibly in my life!!!). The last day, maids entered our room 2x before checkout time which makes me question if they even knew which guests were due to check out and not just need room refreshing to do a proper clean. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere - anywhere else than here!!!!

When people say that rooms are small, they mean SMALL. There is no extra chair or desk or anything unless you reserve an expensive room. However, I found that despite how small the rooms were, they were clean and staff was nice. Also in a very good location if you want to see shows or go to time square.

This very simple hotel has incredible prices and fantastic location - especially if you're here for theatre/Broadway. Great walking distance to so much. Rooms have basics and are nice and clean - all I need to lay my head at night!

I have stayed here multiple times. Everything is on point. Excellent location, excellent prices, excellent rooms! Lobby and bar area are a plus. The customer service never disappoints. I don't think there is a better hotel to stay in unless you want to pay $$$$$. I have paid a lot for other hotels that didn't have the location and rooms that this hotel provides for a good price. You can not go wrong with the Paramount Hotel!

Great location where I was able to walk to a majority of the place I wished to visit and close to Time Square if that's where you want to go. The room is small but for the price its perfect for a solo traveller who wants some privacy. It was also surprisingly quiet! I could hear people in the corridor easily but outside noise wasn't a problem. They do have a food area but the options are a little limited that if you want a proper meal it is likely worth going out for a walk.

Great location, but overall this is not a 4 star hotel. Prices are cheap but you're getting what you pay for. When we arrived to our room, we pulled back the bedsheets and they had not been changed. Fully stained still from whoever was in it the night before. Asked for a new room and got a no, we will send up housekeeping. Room heater was ancient and super loud. Windows were dirty. Bathroom was tiny and shower was hot but it made this crazy loud squealing sound while showering. There was construction outside of the window so no sleep was to be had. Early morning hammering and work going on with the noise of the night life means no sleep for the guests. No ear plugs were offered by hotel staff. Beds and pillows were very comfortable.

Very comfortable, clean room. Small, but why are you in NYC? To take a nap?? Maid service excellent, brought us extra towels and kept everything sparkling. Plenty of hot water for shower, paper supplies renewed each day. QUIET! Asked for back of hotel, heard hardly anything. Tip- bring an extension cord, there is only one outlet on one side of the bed to charge your electronics. Desk staff very friendly and helpful as well. Richard Rogers Theater (HAMILTON, people!) directly across the street! Will definitely stay here again! Tip #2- pizza place 2 doors down cheap & delicious. Tip #3- pedicabs are a fun way to get around & they park in front of the Paramount.

Great location and service. Unfortunately not the best accommodations, the heater was not working at all while I was there and upon requesting assistance the heater was turned on full blast, resulting in poor nights’ sleep. Check-in was slow and the bathroom was worn. Overall, great to be in close proximity to several attractions.

I’m only writing this review to encourage guest to BEWARE of concierge opening up your luggage/bags. I would not recommended leaving your luggage in the hands of this establishment. When I checked my luggage on the last day, it was very noticeable that someone had opened my luggage!! Very unacceptable! Don’t leave anything of value in your luggage. Also, the hotel needs to be updated. Location is good for those that desire to stay in Times Square.
