Very rude staff, that cannot be bothered to help. For a hotel of this standard I’d expect a lot better. Despite asking for a non smoking room our floor stank of smoke. Our room felt like a glorified store room it was so small we didn’t even have a bedside table. The bathroom was very dated. Staff didn’t even know the restaurant opening times. The location is fantastic right next to grand central and a short walk to major attractions. The entrances and lounge is grand and impressive. Would only stay again due to the superb location. They should charge a lot less if they give bad service and give ridiculously small rooms

We loved our stay here in 2018. Very sad to hear it's permanently closed now due to the pandemic. Very classical type of hotel. Staff were brilliant and made us feel very welcome. Little handy shop we visited many times. Such a shame that a business that was active for nearly 100 years has been forced to close due to covid. Has been some time, but we've only just realised as now not available when looking at holiday deals. Made our stay very unforgettable. Thank you to all the team. We send best wishes.

Nice hotel. Manager gave me a complimentary bottle of bourbon. Air conditioner wasn’t working but they sent a repair man to walk me through it and fixed it. The radio mysteriously kept turning on and playing the same dang song. Had a good night sleep though. I stayed in room 1408.

The lobby and staff were great. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious one of the best I've had at a hotel. It isn't complimentary but it is worth it! I think that the rooms need to be updated. Our room was extremely outdated. I love historic hotels but some updates could be made while maintaining the old fashion vibe.

This hotel’s staff are friendly, warm, kind, and attentive to your every need. The hotel itself was lovely, charming, and the rooms are spacious and reasonably priced. The bed was so comfortable. I am a terrible sleeper, and I slept soundly. The location was close to lots of sightseeing attractions, entertainment, and venues. I highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed here a few years ago when we went to NY. The picture on the computer definitely did not match the real picture! Way over priced and our bathroom at home was bigger than the whole room. And our view was a building rooftop with a bucket and an empty pizza box! The only good part...the buffet breakfast. The food was excellent and the head waiter was so friendly and accomodating!

This is my second time staying at your hotel, and I was very please both times. Your staff was welcoming and efficiently booked me both times. I will continue to choose your hotel because you made me very happy and contented. I will give the perfect stars to all of you! Thank you very much for sharing your talent with us! Good job!

Was asked for an extra $100 for cleaning fees was given $42 back after checkout. Seems like a scam for more money. There was no drinking water available even after request. Inside the hotel was nice and the bed was comfy. Overall I feel very strongly about being upfront about cost when buying things

Overall, a great hotel in a great location with incredibly friendly and attentive staff. We had seen poor reviews for this hotel commenting on the state of the rooms but the one we had on the 6th floor was fine. We stayed early December and the lobby was beautifully decorated and festive. The twin double room wasn’t the largest but it was sufficient for two adults and two kids. Yes, the room was looking a bit tired but it was clean and serviceable. I would definitely book to stay here again and would recommend it for a NYC stay.

Old but we enjoyed it. We had very good breakfast each morning with a very vast variety of foods. The room was clean and tidy. The maid didn't touch anything she wasn't supposed to. There os a bar in the lounge and it's nice, but I wouldn't count on the food there. Reception ladies are very nice and welcoming.

The hotel is located in an ideal spot. You really can't go wrong if you are going to do any sight seeing. The staff is very efficient and courteous. We asked for a refrigerator in our room and even though one wasn't in the room on arrival, one was brought up very quickly after we brought it to their attention. The room is a pretty standard hotel room. Bathroom is relatively small, beds are clean and comfortable. Only complaint about the room, there is no dresser or anything to unpack your clothes into. Really the only thing I can truthfully complain about is the elevator broke while we were there and we had to walk up 10 flights to our room. Not a big deal for me but could certainly be if you can't make it up the stairs. Overall we have really enjoyed our stay.

worst experience of my life. I was staying in this hotel in 2013 (during the infamous sharknado) and a shark LITERALLY (sorry for yelling) came right through my window. The hotel staff didn't even provide me with a chainsaw or anything! I've never been so disappointed with my stay in a hotel. #ballstothewall

Had a wonderful stay, I was there for 6 days. The room was clean and simple. The housekeeping did a wonderful job, very attentive, some of the best service I've ever had. The hotel itself is an amazing location, and the old architecture and classic design are timeless and well kept. The breakfast was a bit over priced, but the eggs benedict was pretty good. One of my new favourite hotels. I will go back.

The hotel lobby is nice and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are quite small and smell a bit musty but that is to be expected due to the age of the hotel. The water pressure in the sink is low but is decent on the shower. There is a nice TV in the room with good cable, which is a plus. Overall, we're enjoying our stay at this hotel.

This place is gorgeous and stunning. I took a tour of the hotel with my class and we got to see the rooms they offered and the back. Even though we were not official guests. Everyone treated us as of we were staying there. Everyone who works in the kitchen is super nice as is those in the front. Everything is kept very clean and tidy. Only thing about the rooms is that they are gorgeous and make you feel like you are in luxury but the bathrooms do not convey that message. Walking Into the bathroom and you may feel you stepped back. They don't go with the overall aesthetic of the rest of the hotel. The different ballrooms are beautiful and wonderful. Beautiful chandeliers and drapery. Felt like i was rich beyond measure.

Location great, rooms OK however in much need of modernisation. Bathrooms are dated and in much need of a freshen up. Lifts are a nightmare as only 6 lifts accommodating 18 floors, which one was out of order for 2 days, making a busy/full hotel difficult at peak times to use the lifts. House Keepers kept rooms very clean and tidy, which was great. Fresh towels every day if needed.

Stayed here 5 years ago. Had a family trip and came to this hotel exhausted. The view outside the window was delightful. Outside the window was a building lit by blue light and tall. Sad to hear that this hotel is gone. Gave us great memories...

Very prime location. Lobby and other public spaces are very nice looking. Food was great, however room was small. Heard it’s closed during pandemic.

Good Historic Hotel in Mid-town. Great lobby, adequate bar, nice location. The rooms are nothing special but the common areas are really nice. There are plenty of eateries close by so you don't have to eat at the hotel.

Perfect location . Very Nice staff. We had the exact room at the level we required. The view was perfect . To be recommanded !

Honestly not worth it. Booked directly through Amex for certain perks that were not provided. Got a room with a broken door, was then switched to a worse room next to the elevator that looks directly to the AC units. $500/ night is a joke

I love this hotel. I loved to room, that it took an hour to get hot water - not so much. The lobby was beautiful and the staff was better than I expected for NYC. It is super close to everything you want to do downtown. I hope Tony is still there because he was amazing. It’s been a while since we stayed (6/2019) but when we come back we will stay again.
