CAUTION!!!! The Wellington went out of business when COVID hit. It is NO LONGER OPEN. We booked a room on a travel site and arrived to find the hotel closed permanently. Ended up staying across the street at the Park Central. Watch out for this scam.

Amazing hotel! The location is very good, the staff is great, the rooms are clean, the service is great! Prices are reasonable, parking is an issue there just as any place in Manhattan.

Just the facts: Their website is very polished and things look much nicer than they really are. The carpet everywhere is old and gross…even in the rooms. The bathrooms are renovated and very bright and nice, albeit small. I spoke with them on the phone a few times and they were mostly nice, never over accommodating. The woman who checked us in was unfriendly, boarding on rude and certainly doesn't care about her job or the guests. The woman who checked us out was cool, not even approaching tepid. Matthew the doorman was outstanding in every way. Thoughts: Three stars is being generous, the staff could have made it a four. Matthew belongs at a better hotel. I don't mind funky, clean, and nice. Can't do funky, dirty, and rude. We stayed in another hotel the next night and it was a different universe. I don't like leaving these kinds of reviews, but people have to know.

Well, the place is actually quite decent, prices were OK, the stuff was SUPER friendly and the rooms more than ok. You must be careful with the thermostat cos the room can easily turn to a boiling hot, also be patient with the shower configuration. I would stay there again without a doubt. Location was really amazing. Central Park was like a 5 min walk and also Time Square was another 5 min walk downtown! You can't really beat that, can you?!

I took my teen daughter on her first trip to NYC. She’s been wanting go for some time. Hotel has great nostalgia if you want to go back to the old days of NYC. It’s been around for a long time. Rooms were nicely decorated, Beds were comfy but rooms were understandably small and is the only reason for 4 stars. There is a street cafe attached to the lobby. The food was so good, everything from scratch. We had a tough time wanting to try other restaurants because we always wanted to eat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I crave it by just talking about it. Very close to Times Square and Central Park. I would definitely stay here again. We look forward to visiting the greatest city in the world again.

Originally built in 1905, this hotel has lots of history. The lobby is beautiful and decorated gorgeous for the holidays. Rooms are a bit on the drab side, but a neat spot to see. Sounds like will be Closing for good in the future.

I LOVED this hotel. The location was just perfect. Not only is it walking distance from Central Park and Times Square, it's also just a lovely hotel. From start to finish the hotel staff were brilliant and helpful. Our bed was super comfortable and the hotel room was perfectly sized. The only issue we had at all was the fact that we couldn't figure the shower out, which was our own fault. I was concerned having read the other reviews of the hotel about noise and slow elevators, etc.. but I found check in fast, the elevators were fine and I was so happy with the cleanliness of the room. There is a shuttle bus which runs to all the NYC airports which was so so handy. The price was brilliant considering the location and the service we received. Also it's right next to a Subway Station huge plus!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was way more affordable compared to other hotels in the area. It’s a bit older, but the rooms are bigger than most other newly renovated hotels. the bed was comfortable, the toiletries were high quality. The service was great. The first room we went into had a bathroom issue and they changed our room as soon as we called the front desk. Great service, great price. It’s not the W, nor does it pretend to be. But who spends all their time in their room? I would book here again

We stayed one night as two couples sharing a suite. Great price (~410) for this arrangement for a peak weekend stay. The room included a king and a full, with the foot of each bed facing each other (this was a little unexpected but fine). The suite was spacious, with plenty of room for the four of us to loll about in the sitting area. Everything felt sturdy and fairly updated. Our only issue with the room was noise from what sounded like a radiator--pretty loud clanging through some of the night--we all noticed it and basically slept through it. The hotel is incredibly well located for the standard tourist activities: short walks to Times Square, Central Park, Broadway, etc. It appears to profit from volume; the lobby was often over crowded with guests and luggage. Bell and valet service was slow. Valet parking was convenient though and seemed well worth the price ($35) to us. We would definitely stay here again.

I don't mind have fancy hotels we just wanted somewhere to sleep and not too far to walk. the room was small and outdated and that's ok. The whole hotel smelled like weed, we were intimidated by the staff, the pipes made noise all the night and the mattress was horrible. You can't control the temperature. It was a very good location though and a good price, but really should have been lower for what we got. (and there's construction outside) I wouldn't stay here again. just pay a little bit more. There's no fridge, no microwave, no coffee maker no anything. I can deal with the small room. But smoking weed in the hotel (I expected it being NYC but it was a non-smoking hotel) and the rudeness I cannot.

One night stay. Convenient location, of course. But, with one elevator out of service, and other computer glitches, it took nearly an hour after arriving to get to one of our two rooms, since one wasn't ready at 1 pm. The gym is a few blocks away. The rooms are reasonably comfortable in the nostalgic hotel manner, but small. I wouldn't vouch for the cleanliness of the carpets, and the AC unit was noisy and hard to regulate the room temperature.

Nice hotel currently under renovation. Not all rooms has been renovated. We asked to be moved from one room to another because the bathroom was dark, old, and seemed very dingy to me. Also the power went out twice when the breaker tripped when I was blow drying my hair. We were moved to a nice room, brighter and the bathroom was newly renovated. The front desk was most helpful and gracious about our complaint. Great location, close to subway! Perfect 4 day get away! We will definitely come back to stay again.

Not recently update, a little worn but service and staff very accommodating. Right in midtown, close to RCMH, 30 ROCK, FAO SCHWARTZ, shopping, restaurants.

We booked at the Wellington because we needed a hotel in a great location that offered 3 separate beds in 1 room. The Wellington is pretty much the only hotel in Manhattan that offers a 3 bed/1 room situation with fairly reasonable prices (a 1 bedroom suite that has a King and Queen with a pull-out couch in the living space). Our experience was made better when the receptionist, Edward, gave us a great deal after we asked him about discounted rates through our insurance. The room was very spacious and convenient as it offered a dining table, kitchenette, plenty of desk space, 3 closets, and tv's in both the bedroom and living area. We needed the extra space because we were traveling with a large manual wheelchair, so the room fit our needs perfectly. The downside for us is that the hotel isn't the most accessible and there was a lot of construction going on while we were there. We had to ask staff to lay out a folding ramp every time we wanted to enter/exit the hotel and there was only 1 working elevator that allowed us to get to our room, which was pretty small, as were the hallways. The window unit air conditioners were a bit noisy and leaked, and the room didn't feel the most clean. Reception is also understaffed and housed in a small window space, so we had to wait in line when checking in and out. For what we paid though, it was a decent hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. Like so much. The accommodations are good, the bathroom is very good. The reception is attentive and helpful to customers. The location is fantastic.

We enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are comfy, especially the beds! Handy location and pleasant staff. The air conditioner was old and very noisy.. couldn't hear the TV unless I turned the volume right up. Would have given 5 stars otherwise. Would stay again though.

Don't forget to use Hoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. This web site will compare countless booking websites and normally will have prices a lot cheaper compared to others! You're welcome :)! This place is one of the most well known in the area. I have been coming here for a long time. If you choose this place you definitely won't regret it. Very central hotel with amenities close by. The rooms nothing fancy but the beds are comfy and my room had a view over Central Park!

The Wellington was a good hotel to stay in. The queen size bedroom was pretty small but it’s a good size for two people. Also don’t expect a fridge or microwave if you’re staying in a queen bedroom. My girlfriend and I asked for a suit because our room didn’t have a fridge or microwave. The suits are nice and spacious and had a really nice view. Overall it was a good experience.

Everything in the hotel is perfect, thus we have the most relaxing weekend. All about this resort points towards relaxation and tranquility. The hotel, decor, ambiance, staff, location, service, and all areas completely top-class. We will be going back here with my family! I know that they would love it!

We stayed here in 2010 with a large choir group as it was near to Carnegie Hall where the students performed. it was a great location with a Starbucks across the street. Years later, I read that the Von Trapp Family Singers stayed at the Wellington when they first came to America, with only $4 in their pockets. History!

The staff of this hotel did great accommodation for us. They were very hospitable and pleasant. I liked how the area was properly cleaned. The place had a good atmosphere that you can freely breathe, and it smells good. Highly appreciated!

First time visiting NYC, we stayed here. I was really impressed with the rooms. It was very affordable and it was very close to where we had to be the next morning to board our cruise. I would for sure stay here again and recommend this hotel to travelers. It was also close to popular places.
