Great location, but unfortunately that was the only thing going for this place. On arrival to the hotel, we had to queue at the check in desk for 50 minutes. I had booked 2 x Twin rooms, and when we got to the rooms they were both doubles. Back down to reception to wait another 20minutes to be seen by the receptionist. They didn't have any twin rooms left. So, offered us a free upgrade to the king size beds. Not ideal, but we went for it. Back up the lifts, and one of the new rooms had the window missing, simply covered up by cardboard. The other room had the curtains spread out in a mound on the floor. Back down the lifts, to be reallocated another room. 3rd time lucky! Really not what we wanted when been up for over 24 hours already. Great location, but I won't be staying here again.

I’m not sure what to make of the bad reviews I’m seeing below (maybe from earlier in the pandemic?)—I’ve stayed at the Edison multiples times, and my rooms have always been modern, comfortable and exactly as described. It’s not a luxury hotel, but the staff has always been friendly and helpful, my rooms have always been clean, comfortable, and spacious, the location is perfect for exploring the city (close to the theatre district and subways to everywhere). The rooms are a great value too. Once my room was next to some construction across the street, and I asked to be moved to another room with less noise, and they gave me a room on the other side of the building that was an upgrade from the original room, free of charge. I just wrapped up another great stay. Definitely my go-to spot for visiting the city.

The service here is great and the rooms are tidy, if a bit small. Being this close to Time Square this is a worthy trade-off. All the staff were friendly and kind. The grab-and-go breakfast was not the greatest, but it was better than no food at all!

This place is a hidden gem. I really like the historic aspect of the building. The rooms were tiny but I didn't need a big room I'm not concerned about the size it was more so the cleanliness and the service that we received upon checking in and checking out. They gave us free water which is awesome and they gave us free breakfast which was even better. The breakfast was extremely yummy and tasty and portions were amazing. I am definitely coming back to this hotel each and every time I come to New York definitely worth it.

I took my son on a trip to New York and we stayed at the Edison. The location was PERFECT. Steps away from Times Square and right in the heart of the theater district. It was close enough to Central Park that we wound up eating our breakfast there every day. The grab and go breakfast was delicious. We got the pizza package which provided us with pizza from the pizza restaurant on the corner- delicious and worth the extra money. The bed was so comfortable and the room was clean, and updated. It was exactly as advertised. The view was spectacular- I could look out over the theater district as well as Hell’s Kitchen and the Hudson. The staff was helpful and kind and I appreciated the security measures in place. I wish the ice machine on our floor worked… but that is my only suggestion. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat and plan on doing so.

We didn't have many dealings with staff, but when we did, it was great. House keeping were absolutely lovely! Our room was large. We had a wardrobe/cupboard, a huge bed which was super comfy after a long day walking! We had free water and a fridge. The whole room was clean, but I think furniture lets it down as far as visuals go. Very comfortable stay! The location was PERFECT!!!! Hotel Edison is currently under scaffolding, but don't let that put you off, as it's really a great hotel overall. We are from the UK, and all we wish for was a kettle, so we could have a cuppa in the morning. Thank you for our great stay.

Hotel Edison is in a great location right next to Times Square in New York. I stayed here for 3 nights and the service was very great and the staff were super helpful. The rooms definitely need to be redone and overall they’re showing signs of age. The bathroom although small was nice and the beds were comfortable.

Good News too those Adams Family fans waiting for there new movie...the wait is over as this hotel is probably managed by the them. Hygiene One word disgusting....we originally entered the room to the world most awful smell we changed rooms to see that the bathroom was not yet cleaned Safety We changed rooms many times and most rooms...the bathroom door doesn't close properly the safe usually doesn't work and for God knows why the safety fire instructions are removed the only positive thing one could say is that security men checks before you are in the elevator that you are a guest Front desk I know most of you parents readings this have kids who wanted to go to theme park instead of going to the big city. Worry not the front desk line will give you the same experience. Each time you need anything you have to wait at least 10 min and most of the time the answer is like we are prisoners. We asked to check out earlier they said sorry we will charge you but you can change rooms ( we booked free cancellation) we had to spend hours with booking.com just to make sure the night we checked out after one of the worst experience will be refunded. Yes they did to change rooms but if I'm fare most are worse than the one we had it felt like either they are keeping good rooms for special guests or all rooms are extremely bad. Grab and Go Breakfast Food was eatable but usually cold. Any breakfast on the street with 10$ should do a better job Overall room Simply unless the Adams family did the rating this is no way in hell a 4 star hotel. Bellmen I'm not sure if its a Mafia or something else but you don't have to even believe me. Once you enter you will see the majority carrying there own luggage that's because the bellmen will be extremely rude even after you tip him you will find him telling you that its not enough he wants more. But there was one gentleman who was friendly but I definitely don't remember his name sorry The only good thing I could say is the housekeeping was friendly and the security checkpoint before the elevator to make sure everyone has a key. The location is in the middle of times Square yes but definitely not worth it In summary When we finally escaped to check in to a near by hotel I felt like singing along with Ursula form the little mermaid "those poor unfortunate souls" as I saw people checking in. As a person who travels a lot being a gold or platinum member in most chains or website I strongly advice to AVOID AT ALL COST. If I could give a negative rating I would honestly do as I think one star is fare to generous for my experience Specially thanks to booking.com for there help it was really the worst ever hotel experience for me If any of the hotel staff is reading this we toke videos and photos of each disgusting thing in each room we shared it with booking.com and if Google here supported videos in review I would definitely post it

This is usually our "go to" hotel in the Time Square area. Staff has always been perfect, no problems with check in or out, getting transportation to anywhere is easy as well. Close to Subway station and a few steps from Time Square. However if you need Ultra Modern this might not before you. There is a 100% difference between suite rooms and "regular" rooms. We stayed in a "regular" room this time. Age definitely shows however super clean. In those older rooms be prepared for scrapes on the walls, fringed carpet here or there, and dated tile bathrooms. Like I said always super clean. This trip was a quick trip for 4 days for us. Just one of those..."We gotta get away..." trips. We haven't been to NYC since the pandemic. We will be staying in a suite the next time. Most of those room are upgraded and a little larger. Overall I'd stay again.

This is an old hotel as you can see from my rating about the room. That said it was clean, very friendly, service was great. Security on the lift area. Some people didn't like it but I felt reassured. The location was great in amongst everything. Finally the food was great. I would stay again. It would be even better if the put new furniture in the rooms though.

Good location near Times Square and central to many attractions. Breakfast menu was limited although the food was fine. Service was poor, we ordered 4 breakfasts and only 3 arrived, the 4th only came once we had to ask and by that time the others had finished. No apology or acknowledgement given. The rooms were very clean with a good bed and spacious enough. Live music in the bar was excellent...

We have just finished a four night stay in the hotel edison, time square. No major issues at all, and good value for money! Cannot complain being in the centre of Times Square. We stayed in a classic room, and it was a fairly good size with a very comfy bed. The room was clean, and cleaned every day for us. The rooms are dated, with wallpaper peeling in some areas and carpets need a clean but apart from that the room was fine. Bathroom small, but clean & room was noisy but you expect that with the location. We used the breakfast service, and the food was lovely with great choices. The resort fees are high, and damage deposit also high (you do get some of this back), just research before coming. Overall, we have had a pleasant experience staying here.

One of the cleanest rooms I’ve stayed at in years. Absolutely spotless. Worth coming back just for that. The bathroom was newly renovated, the tile shower felt like a treat (with C.o. Bigelow products). The bed was comfortable and the sheets felt high quality. I was expecting dated features but the hotel looks at the same time both well maintained and respectful of the beautiful Art Deco building. Regarding some other reviews I’ve seen, yes there is noise from outside at night sometimes but it’s Times Square, not a mountain resort. If you’re a light sleeper, it may not be for you. The only slight inconvenience was that they asked for a $2, cash only, fee for storing luggage for the day while waiting to check in. I had never been charged in other hotels in New York or elsewhere, but maybe it’s a Times Square thing? Or is it like a mandatory tip? (I would have tipped anyway at pickup- and did tip on top of the charge! But I had just landed from abroad and didn’t have cash right away, as I suppose happens to others)

This was my first trip to NY and Times Square. My wife and I drove from Oklahoma. The Hotel Edison was GREAT! We were greeted by the bell hops who were very kind and polite. They even stored our luggage until we could check in later that afternoon, for only $1 per bag. We didn’t have any cash at the time and they still stored them and were very nice about it. Yes, there was a line to check in at 3:00 but the front desk staff were friendly, professional and efficient when checking us and other guests in for the day. Several of the patrons were rude but the staff maintained their positive demeanor. In order to gain access to the elevators, the hotel had a friendly employee checking for room keys before anyone was allowed to enter that area. As a visitor, I truly appreciate the added security. The price of the room was excellent compared to other hotels near Times Square. What’s more, the room was very clean, bed very comfortable, and bathroom stocked with toiletries. Thank you Hotel Edison for making my first stay and trip to New York City and Times Square memorable. I highly recommend your hotel to anyone visiting the area. You made my trip worry free.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is the great location. It's way overpriced for what you get. We paid $600 per night and our room looked like it definitely saw a few murders. Peeling wallpaper, old ratty furniture, a tiny and very basic bathroom. It was very dingy. To top it off, the heating was as loud as a jet engine, and the pipes were banging and popping all night. We barely slept. Every time we tried to call reception using the room phone, we got a busy signal, so we had to call the outside line from our cell phone to reach the front desk. Any extras that other hotels might give as a courtesy when available (like early check-in or late check-out) cost a ridiculous extra charge. We arrived two hours early, and our room was ready, but it would have cost $89 to check in early, so we just left our bags at the front desk. The whole place feels like a huge rip-off.

Comfortable hotel in a great location. Nice beds and everything was clean and well maintained. Got a great deal on a room for a few nights, and even included a to-go breakfast at the attached restaurant. Will definitely look into this place on future trips to NY. Only knock that prevented me from giving it perfect marks is that the AC unit in our room sounded like it was full of gravel sometimes and there was some other building noise. Nothing a pair of earplugs wont fix, and otherwise a great option in Manhattan.

I would like share what I have experienced in this hotel. First of all, I would like to compliment Antonio from the housekeeping department for his excellent service attitude. I requested for some items which were sent to me promptly by Antonio. He was genuine and was helpful. The hotel is lucky to have staff like him. Hopefully the hotel acknowledged and recognized his effort. 1. This hotel has one of the best location. It is in the middle of Time Square. 2. Room is clean and tidy. However the room is quite small but comfortable. Don't expect a big room as the location is what you are paying for. 3. I do recommend this hotel if you are looking for convenience and walking distance to all the food and shops in Time Square.

Perfect one night stay. I did not experience ANY of the negative things the recent reviews noted. We received complimentary early check in @2p, not super early, but was certainly convenient as we had just driven in. The room was small but fresh, clean, and the bathroom was brand new with beautiful tile. The size of the space is very typical in NYC! had a corner room with 2 windows and great views. Valet was great and had my vehicle ready to go at the time i requested. Location is the big cell. Across the street from the Richard Rogers! Smack in the middle of dozens of Broadway theaters. Carve is a 24 hour restaurant steps away which was clutch for some late night pizza. I would definitely stay here again.

When I arrived for my birthday celebration, they had a bottle of wine ready for us and snacks along with the sweetest card! Loved this hotel and the staff!! We will definitely stay here again when we come back to NYC!!! Great location. The area was not loud at all. The restaurants were all amazing!!! All of the staff were absolutely amazing. Everyone went above and beyond for us.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Edison for 6 nights! From first email to hotel to confirm special occasions to the stay itself we had a fantastic stay. The staff were friendly, the breakfast vouchers were a nice touch and the rooms spotless! We also felt safe with the security at the elevators. I was a bit unsure about staying so close to Times Square but the close proximity of the subway was fantastic. Would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful experience, it looks like an old place but it so well updated, the guest rooms are renovated and very up to date! The location is wonderful, it is located in the heart of Times Square. What we enjoyed the most was the downstairs Bar, it is located in front of the elevators, it has live jazz music every night, and with different artists each night, it was impossible go to bed without stopping by to have a drink listening the great show! Definitely this was a wonderful experience that recommend and would like to repeat!

Super clean, modernized room, up to date. Had everything we needed. Check-in is easy, kiosk or with a phone. Good bathroom, shower etc. We reserved a queen and was upgraded to a king room for some reason. Great view and awesome location right between times square and Broadway. Food everywhere. Free breakfast is small but delicious.

The Hotel Edison is a nice hotel. The location is really great. The staff is really nice and there are plenty of staff members hard at work all over the place. The building is charming and it doesn’t feel old. We had a standard Queen Room. My Hubby and two Teenagers. The room was a nice size and it was clean. I would have loved a microwave and mini fridge in the room as that seems pretty standard in most hotels. I didn’t find out until we were leaving that we could have rented a fridge or microwave ($30 each for the entire 3 days stay). I think the website could use some updating to add in these special a la cart items that you can rent. I like the self check-in kiosk to avoid the lines, but I somehow ended up getting some pending charges on my credit card because I did something wrong when I swiped my card. The staff handled it and gave me a paper print out of the correct charges.Otherwise, it’s really convenient. My biggest complaint was that we only got two breakfast vouchers per day even though I booked my reservation stating that we were a family of four who needed two Queen size beds in the room. I am not sure why only two guests get counted for breakfast in a room with two beds that sleeps 4? Strange. New York is a great city. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Great location, friendly staff, rooms could have been updated a little better. Shower had a partial glass cover that didn’t move so it was always open leaving the floor to get soaked, and a cold breeze to come in because the bathroom door a sliding glass door that’s too heavy to stay shut. We were 3 ladies in the room with 1 queen bed and a sleeper sofa, we hit perfectly fine, room was a good size for a room in Manhattan

My family and I stayed during the Thanksgiving week of 2022. We had no issue with anything. Check in was easy. I felt very secure there since you have to show your key card to enter and to get to the floor of your room. All the staff was nice and polite. Free breakfast was great. I recommend this hotel if you stay in New York City. Time square is right around the corner. Amazing time!

Not a pleasant stay. So overpriced for the service provided and the room, but guess that’s New York. Our room was extremely basic, has an option for heating/fan - neither work and it makes a noise the entire time whether ‘on’ or ‘off’. Would have at least expected the staff and servers to be some what polite though at bare minimum, which was not the case. We had to pay extra 300 dollars at check in and even though we were told we’d get 200 dollars back when checking out, at check out we were told it would be on our account in 14 days!.. Had to pay 12-15 dollars extra each day for breakfast which was technically meant to be included. Wouldn’t mind, but the servers in the restaurant for breakfast were not polite. Walked past us whilst we’d wait for a table at the door and not even acknowledge us then they’d not even say hello and just throw our menus on the table. First girl even gave us the paid menu when we had vouchers which would have meant we would have had to pay an extra 30-50 dollars each. Couldn’t believe how bad the customer service was, and then to think a tip is expected when you don’t even get a hello? Only staff in the hotel that were very friendly were the doormen, concierge and the housekeeping staff who cleaned our rooms, they were lovely and so helpful and did a great job each day. Only perks about this hotel is the location is right in Times Square so very good, plus there’s a small good gym there too. Wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend to anyone, not worth the expense.

Enjoyed our stay in New York. Hotel a stones throw away from most of the action around Times Square. Room was a fairly basic and a little dated but we didn't spend much of our spare time in the room which was spotlessly clean. Staff were polite and efficient. Housekeeping was very good. Missed not having coffee maker in room. Complimentary breakfast options both on and off site we're really tasty. Beds were comfy and large by our UK standards. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you.

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years, and on this visit I was disappointed. The room I booked was not at all like the photos on their website. Although it was the same layout as the photos, my room looked like it had not been updated in 30 years. The A/C did not work the three nights we were there. The "free breakfast" is not free since you have to pay $6.50 to sit down at a table. Why not just charge for the meal rather than say it's free? The location is perfect for Broadway theaters. The staff are New York friendly. Overall I probably will not stay there again.

The room was barely big enough for 2 people. The room was as bare as it gets. A bed, a broken end table, a closet, and the bathroom. Me and my wife literally could not walk across the room together. The room clearly was dated. It was the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. Mind you, I travel for work. For $450 a night? The only good thing is you are in the middle of Times Square.

This hotel posts pictures that are false advertising. The pictures posted have very updated and new bathrooms — but that is definitely wrong. The bathroom is extremely small. The Toilet is the size for a toddler in pre school. It is very very outdated. The ac barely works and windows of course can not be open. There is NO refrigerator. Best thing this hotel has going for them is there is a bellmen out side to greet you and security check to get into the elevators. Rooms are dingy. Dark. Smell funny. If you have allergies do not stay in this hotel.

Great location, The Hotel is very beautiful its just at Times Square, Room was spotless clean. We spent 8 days here and loved it. Was nice having a clean comfy room to go home to every evening after exploring the city. They give breakfast vouchers at check in for the restaurant at the hotel or a cafe/deli beside the hotel. For NewYork City the room was very spacious, the staff was very friendly to us. We had a great sleep every night and really enjoyed our stay, thank you

Be aware there’s a surprise non refundable $459 bill at check in, not quite sure what for. They say it’s for the services, don’t really know what services they’re referring to there. Staff are all rude, the only nice members of staff are the maids who did a great job cleaning the room everyday. Also the man in the shop downstairs, he was nice too. There’s a AC/heater in the room, which broke & would only blow out cold air (whilst we’re in December) the receptionist said he would send someone up to fix it but he never did. $1 per suitcase to put in the luggage room until your flight. However, if you want to get your own suitcase out to put something in it…suprise! This will cost you an extra $1 for each time you need to get out your suitcase! Wouldn’t come again & wouldn’t recommend. Late checkout is also $100+, absolute rip off. Only upside is the location Is good as you’re right in Times Square. You’re paying for the location, in reality this is a 1 start hotel.

Great location! However very noisy. Earplugs saved my sleep!! Outside and inside noises from Times Square concerts, horns honking to clanging heat pipes, drilling and conversions heard through the vents. I assume this is just normal NYC?? We had a signature room. Very small for 4 people and very small bathroom. Loved the conveniences of the hotel restaurants and enjoyed the quick and good grab n go breakfasts. Very close to the theaters! Easy to get on all subway lines and go wherever!

  • 2/5 Suzette T. 6 months ago on Google
It is so NOISY in the rooms. You hear horns honking all night and the construction next door starts at 3am!! This hotel is certainly not a 4 star! It might pull out a 3 based solely on location. Amenities are more along the lines of a 2 star. The shower in the bathroom gets the floor all wet as there was no raised ledge to hold the water and just a flimsy curtain coming to the floor. The room is bare bones (no fridge, peeling paper, missing smoke detector or CO2 with dust covered exposed wires). The beds are hard! We got 2 breakfast vouchers for each of the 7 days even though we paid for 4 people in the room. The breakfast gets old though as it is the exact same thing every day. The staff is not friendly! They act disinterested and like you are putting them out each time you ask a question. They charge to store your bags. Although it’s only $1 a bag you expect more from a supposed 4 star. Would not stay here again and certainly wouldn’t recommend!

Rooms are large and comfortable by NYC standards, although they are a bit worn out and bare. Our room had a fresh bathroom remodel, which was nice. The location is perfect for a theater focused trip. The cost is high, but relatively average by current NYC standards. The service is well staffed and prompt, but is definitely the rudest I have ever experienced. This is the primary reason for the low ranking. I am not going to pay to be scolded by reception for not saying "thank you," or growled at by the concierge because they didn't want to be bothered, or ignored by a bellhop because apparently checked baggage isn't their department, or have security pound on my room door to tell me to be quiet when I was brushing my teeth (the only other persons in the room were sleeping and the TV was off, not sure what noises we were making).

  • 5/5 Tanya D. 5 months ago on Google
The king suite room was very spacious and worked well for our family of four! The staff were very helpful and nice. The breakfast vouchers were fantastic in a city that is so expensive! The location was excellent but the huge downfall being so close to Times Square is that is it loud during the evening. With two little kids the noise would go on till 1am, often waking everyone. It wasn't by far modern but it does the job really well. Our only issue was that the heating didn't seem to work properly in the seperate rooms but didn't affect us overall. The housekeeping did a good job to tidy our room daily. Overall it was fantastic and would highly recommend the hotel!

Last month I stayed at this hotel. Wonderful experience. Staff was always friendly & welcoming. Plenty of restaurants, bars & entertainment on the property. Even more importantly, best location. New York is expensive. More people than space. This Historic Hotel happens to be right on Times Square. Nice & secured. Over all it is worth it.

Great place to stay in NYC. Perfect location to stay when seeing Broadway shows. Steps away from the TKS booth and theaters. You can leave the room, pick a show and be in your seats in minutes. We love the art deco theme. Doormen and the staff are great. We have stayed many times. Every so often we stay at a larger chain and it just doesn't have the same feel. We always go back to the Edison.

Just stayed at the Hotel Edison in the heart of Times Sq for a few days. Easy, quick check in, friendly & helpful staff, big clean comfortable room with frette linens, gym, and great restaurants attached to hotel for easy breakfast/dinner options. Our stay came with a to go breakfast or eat in option. Hotel was super convenient to all the popular tourist areas we wanted to visit. We appreciated the in-house concierge. It was out best NYC hotel stay to date. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient, safe, comfortable NYC stay with attentive staff.

Rooms are mildly sized. I got a king room. If you are planning to cram even two people in, you may have an issue. The staff were great, and I appreciate the coffee maker and complimentary waters. Not all rooms have the coffee maker. My friend, who started in a double queen, did not have one. Their room was also more spacious. The TV took a bit to figure out, but I don't have tv at home. The free breakfast was tasty, yet meager, but I'm a big guy. The location is fantastic. There was black mold in my bathroom stuff dirty on a rag. However, I can't blame the hotel too much because they outsource their laundry and the staff have MANY rooms to clean. In case Hotel Edison sees this and wants to clean better, the room is 833. I think I may consider staying here again, for the location, if nothing else.

The hotel room was really vintage, but the bed is amazingly comfy. Wifi kept disconnecting, i would not recommend the free breakfast from the hotel (Bond45), but the one from Carve was tasty! Some of the staff came over as extremely fake. We had to pay +40$ a night for taxes as a surprise on our arrival. Overall, the hotel have an amazing location for the price which justify the 3/5⭐️

Staff was not the most enthusiastic to greet you. We booked online with an upgrade request, hotel didn't honor this. Our room was small and old looking, very disappointed. Bathroom was extremely small, hard to move around. Requested an upgrade even after we showed we had paid for an upgrade. We're told it's issues with Booking.com We were given a room slightly bigger, charged $75 extra for the upgrade plus charged again for incidentals.. The upgrade was not the greatest from what we saw pictured online, room looked nothing like what was advertised. Housekeeping missed a day to clean our room. We called front desk and immediately they sent someone in to clean. Breakfast is only free if you stop in for pick up and go, dine in is $5 a person with your voucher, and a mediocre menu that offers little. Great location in Times Square, no parking included. We will not stay in this hotel again.

Decent hotel for the price. The only nice employee I came across was from housekeeping. Bed and bathroom were clean. Besides that, remotes, telephone and other areas of room could use cleaning. Housekeeping came every day. Grab and go breakfast was about 2 stars in my opinion. Again, given the price it was not that bad. Location is convenient, right down the block from tkts booth and stairs. Would stay here again.

Have visited NYC numerous times and stayed at this particular Hotel because my friends wedding that we were in town for was being held there. All in all the hotels in New York that I've stayed at have been due to budgetary reasons and I really haven't seen a difference in room quality- the same would go for Hotel Edison. Although I would note that this room was larger then the ones we had stayed at in the past. But I'm not sure if that was because my friend's wedding was being held here and we got upgraded. Free breakfast was included in our hotel stay fee which was a bonus. The first time that we were arriving earlier than check in so I'm not sure what other hotels charge for early check-in but this one was basically the same cost as if I was staying another day so that was a negative. But again that might be normal in NYC. One thing that does stand out was the day of the wedding I had about 30 minutes before we had to be there and I had a wardrobe malfunction so ran to concierge to see if I could get a sewing kit (because I am pretty handy with a needle) to see if I could make any alterations quickly to my wedding outfit. They did not have a sewing kit at Concierge or at the little gift shop which was frustrating but then I asked one of the desk people if they had a pair of scissors would she allowed me to borrow but as I was walking up to the elevator another person from concierge stopped me and said I couldn't take the scissors with me even after stating that I would bring them right back and that I was in a room here at the hotel even giving her the room number. Regardless she argued with both me and the person who gave me the scissors but then I just turned around and jumped on the elevator. I did bring back the scissors right away as I stated and thank the person who originally let me take them. Other than that the wedding was gorgeous and the hotel was centrally located and most of all the people were nice and accommodating. If the situation with a scissors hadn't had happened I would have given a five-star review:-)

First time in NY and lucky me I choose this hotel, with the perfect location. The first night the room wasn't the best one, because of the noise and I have a bad sleeping, but the next day we went to the reception ask if was possible to change, and they were very nice and change it. The rest of the nights was perfect. The bedroom was nice and clean, all days with more coffe pods, tea and bottles of water. The staff was amazing, specially Laura, always friendly and smiling. The hotel was always busy, but is normal, with everything that he can offer. Good restaurants, location, price. And Just a few steps to Times Square, amazing. I can't wait to go back =)

There are only 2 reasons to book The Edison - the location and the bellmen. Beyond that, this hotel would not be our first choice for future travel. The hotel is located in an amazing location steps from Times Square and many subway stations. The front desk staff were apathetic, unfriendly, and did not make us feel welcomed. Our room was not ready at the 3pm check in time, when I expressed that we really needed a room so we could get ready for our dinner and show, the individual on the desk went to talk to the manager. 30 minutes later she offered us an “upgrade” to a 1-bedroom suite (this was after another person offered us a downgrade to a smaller bed). The room itself was old feeling and not in line with what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The bed was moderately comfortable. The room we had did not offer much of a view (which we were fine with). The lobby is over crowded and uninviting. Our check out date the lobby was VERY loud. At this time they also removed the furniture from the lobby so there was no where to sit/rest while waiting for a car. Overall, I would stay here again for the location alone; however, we would definitely seek out other options first.

Hotel location is excellent, right on Times Square. Grab & go breakfast is good, and the attached Rum Bar was a nice place. However, a few issues arise during our stay. Firstly, the room was not cleaned once during our four night stay, despite us hanging the 'please make up my room' badge on the door. We were out of the room by 930/10am each day, so to return to an uncleaned room, with no fresh towels, was disappointing. I had to go and seek out a staff member to secure them. At least the staff member was friendly. Secondly, the $160 dollar 'facility fee' was dropped on us at check in, when it really should be made clear in advance. The $300 block on my credit card, insisted upon at check in, covered this, but the remainder is yet to be reimbursed, and there was no mention of it at check out. Make sure you budget for that if staying. And finally, the general cleanliness of the room must be questioned. Hairs in the bath and sink when we arrived, and stains on walls/sheets. Not particularly nice. A lack of sockets too.

Amazing customer service, nice rooms. We were on our honeymoon so they upgraded us to the better room, it was pretty amazing from them. Breakfast is good, not a lot of choice but it's tasty. The only bad thing it's very loud AC, we needed to turn it off every night

For $833 I was expecting a lot more. We got here’s day later and still had to pay same price well we got her at 4 the next morning! The rooms have no fridge. Bathroom is extremely Small! Our best experience was at the bar with the lovely staff there the last night we were there! They made it all worth it!

The hotel is very clean, love the Thomas Edison history! Only problem is by the time you open your suitcase you have absolutely no room to walk around! Also if you sit on the toilet you can’t close the door to the bathroom it’s so tight! It was clean and quiet, but for the money I would have thought it would have been bigger!

I LOVED our stay at the Hotel Edison. A beautiful historic building, perfect midtown location for links to transport and the rest of the city. Staff were all helpful, friendly and dealt with our queries and needs in the most courteous and efficient way. Really impressed. The room was comfortable and the beds were amazing. The breakfast provided at the nearby Carve Diner was a fantastic included treat. Thanks for helping make this particular trip to NYC a good one.

After arriving from the UK late after our flight way delayed by 2hrs 30min we were greeted by a women on check in who said ID !!!!! , not hello and welcome etc etc , she shoved our door room cards and passports at us and didn't explain anything! Not even you need your room card to operate the elevator.Eventually got to our room which was shabby and dark ,1 desk lamp and 1 bedside lamp which are not much better than candle light is all there is to light up a large room🙄😆 blinds were filthy and the loudest aircon unit's ever !! Getting into the breakfast area is also an experience, stand in line , get behind the door are the order's you get , the only 2 positives I have about the place is the location is good and the housekeeping are amazing , so polite and friendly and they work hard.....might be an idea to put them on the front desk instead 😀

Great location just off time square, not as busy in our street. Great service, housekeeping everyday, fast elevators (6 elevators) didn’t wait longer than 1 min. Security, show room key to access elevator area. Shout out to Laura who met you with a smile on your return to hotel. Rooms had great AC, white noise, comfortable sleep. Average size for NY hotels. Room was fine. Ate breakfast at Friedmans, great food.

Stayed here for 2 nights with a group of 8 in a suite with connecting rooms. Pros: Good service, staff is attentive and friendly. Danny (i believe this was his name) was a gentleman by the elevators that was very helpful and welcoming. The beds are comfortable and clean. We asked for some blankets and they were very soft and warm. It didn’t take too long for the water to get hot in the shower and sink. Room service staff were very friendly. Location is great, you’re right next to times square. They provide you with umbrellas if it’s raining ( just make sure you bring it back, we were told it’s a $50 fee if you didn’t bring it back) which really helped us, they gave us all an umbrella and there was 8 of us. Lobby has a nice sized waiting area with couches which was awesome for when we were waiting to head to the airport after checking out. We had free grab and go breakfast which was pretty good. Cons: Room service took a bit long sometimes, we waited 30+ mins for some robes and blankets. We also waiting an hour for someone to unlock our connecting room door, they didn’t end up coming so we left and on the way out told Danny, who sent someone up immediately while we were gone. Receptionists weren’t very welcoming, maybe it was cause it was early in the morning but still. Our rooms didn’t have microwaves or fridges and was told it’s $30 to have a microwave sent up. Our bathroom in one of the rooms didn’t have a sliding door or shower curtain to fully close the shower off so water kept splashing out onto the floor and on the bottom shelf under the sink where the towels were stored. They charge you to hold your bags at the hotel if you want to leave it there, it doesn’t matter if it’s $1/bag (cash only) they shouldn’t charge you if you’re already staying there. Regarding the umbrella fee, in the room on the umbrella in the closet there’s a tag that says it’s $30 to purchase the umbrella yet the receptionists said it’s $50. Not sure why it’s 2 different prices when it’s the same umbrella? Overall, for the price we paid, it was worth it. The location is great & the beds are comfortable. Which is really all you need for a quick little vacation. I would recommend this place if you’re just looking for a nice place to sleep at.
