Superb! Hands down the best hotel in NYC city, in a clean part of upper Manhattan by by Central Park and within close walking distance of major attractions such as Times Square, Empire State Building & Rockefeller Center. Warmly greeted by valet and front desk personnel. Darius at the front desk was simply amazing and made our stay such a wonderful experience. He congratulated us on our 10 year anniversary and thanked us for being globalist members with the Hyatt. We arrived early from a red eye flight and he was able to help check us in early to an upgraded suite and sent up champagne, pretzels, and a nice hand written note as a surprise to celebrate our anniversary! The personal touches and attention to detail was excellent! The help from the bellman/valet was also great on our way out as well- I love how the Thompson values and treats their employee… the bellman worked there for over 41 years and was such a wonderful sweet man! Hotel rooms were newly renovated and very clean with housekeeping everyday. Breakfast in room service was amazing. The food was better than eating at a restaurant with steak and eggs, salmon bagels and French toast! Overall, I highly recommend the Thompson and the personnel were highly professional and exceeded our expectations! Definitely will be returning to the Thompson when visiting!

First time guests, loyal Hyatt members, stayed on the Upper Stories club level for three nights during a girls weekend in NYC. Location was fantastic. Hotel itself is very nice and the staff was all helpful and friendly. Very much enjoyed the club lounge breakfast and beverage options. I had room with double beds and sadly, they were super uncomfortable. Felt like sleeping on plywood, tossed and turned most of the night. It’s a shame but will not stay here again because of the bed.

This was one of if not the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The location is great just a few minutes walk from Central Park. Their is a huge, inexpensive grocery store just around the corner. Our room was impressively large for Manhattan and the decor and furnishings were very nice. Absolutely worth the hyatt points I used to stay here and would do so again in a heartbeat. Staff were also very nice and helpful. Only downside was no coffee maker in the rooms.

This hotel is beautiful. The rooms are well appointed and appear to have mostly new furnishings. Even the elevator was up to date allowing for quick service to and from floors. The front desk staff is superb and recommended some of the most delicious restaurants. The man who parked our car was the absolute best though. He knew a little bit about everything, helped us load and unload our bags, and even opened the car doors for my daughters. He was a true gentleman. We will definitely be coming back!

Stayed here this weekend for the NYC marathon. I'm hoping the issue I ran into was a one-off and not common for the hotel but I wanted to let others be aware because I know from conversations, it happened to a few of my friends as well this weekend. I went into two dirty rooms before the third room was finally clean and ready. It seems there was a computer issue that marked rooms as ready for guests before housekeeping got to them. The manager ended up going upstairs and doing a manual inspection of rooms. Issue aside, all the people I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the shower's water pressure felt amazing. I did find hair on the bathrobe in the room but the towels were clean so I just didn't use the bathrobe. My room's view was that of the building next door but the room did get plenty of natural light. Overall, if I was staying overnight again and wanted to be this area I would consider staying here again, issues aside. If they happen a second time then I might think it was not a computer error. Accidents happen and it was a busy weekend.

I only stayed here for one night, I felt welcome and every staff I encountered was very friendly (staff who work at the upper stories check-in, lounge, and luggage service). I booked a Central Park view room on the high floor, the view was perfect. Even I arrived early, the female staff still brought me to lounge and got my room ready sooner! ( I forgot her name) The hotel is close to major attractions, most of which are within walking distance. I would suggest Thompson Hotel to every traveler, especially Hyatt members ( As a low Hyatt member, I got a 2:00 pm late check no problem.) which gave me more time to pack up and rest. I will stay here again for the next NY trip.

Rooms are clean, small but it’s New York so makes sense. Location is good. The front desk was often helpful. Cleaning staff was kind and helpful. Other than that service was incredibly marginal for the price. I went to get ice on my floor to the “ice “ room, the room was gutted the floor missing tiles, wet and a rag trying to fill in a hole. There was also no ice machine to be seen. When trying to leave the hotel the doorman couldn’t be bothered to hail us a cab he simple said “ask that guy if he’s busy” the cab said he was so we ended up lugging our luggage to the subway and just doing it ourselves. This was after someone in the lobby yelled at me and my partner for eating food there. There was a sign, I guess we missed it, she rudely pointed out. Seems like a weird policy when there’s a to go burger joint in the hotel. A little kindness from her would have been way better received. Bottom line I just didn’t see the $750 a night value.

Came for three nights and had an amazing stay. We got a free upgrade to a suite that was so comfortable and spacious. There was more than enough room to lay out or hang up our belongings. The room was right in front of the elevators but it never felt too loud or bothersome. The service was mostly great as well. As soon as we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted and were able to stow our bags away before check-in. Very minor things, but there was a day when the bath mat wasn't replaced, but they provided four towels so it wasn't a big deal. Also, we called the front desk one night asking if they could bring up a set of silverware but it ended up taking an hour before someone came up. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we went down ourselves to ask, so it ended up being a pointless task for the employee. The location was a huge plus for us, as it's close to multiple subway and bus lines, which made it easy for us to come back and relax after long days of exploring. I can't speak to the amenities like the gym or restaurants (specifically hotel restaurants), as those aren't priorities for us while going on vacation. Regardless, I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to come back.

Great location near central park and close to times square. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was great with a couch and divider between the bed. The shower would have been better with a door so water wouldn't spill on the floor. We are in the restaurant 3 times and the food was really good, but did take a little while to come out.

Pros: location, service, cleanliness, room size, quiet Cons: didn't really find any! I loved this hotel. Stayed in a king bed room and it was massive, clean, and sleek in a functional way. There is even a smart elevator system that guarantees minimal waiting times. But best of all, this hotel was so quiet despite being on a busy street. I slept so well! Parkers is the cool bar and has live jazz in the evening. Service was top notch as well. Overall highly recommended!

We stayed at this hotel during our first visit to new york and I can't say enough good things about it. Perfect location, very close to central park, about 10-15 minute walk to times square and very close to restaurants and shopping. The accommodations were great, the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are really nice. They have live jazz a couple nights a week and the food in the hotel bar is really good. It was quiet for the most part, and a perfect get away at the end of a busy day in New York.

The hotel was pretty busy the week before Christmas. Waiting for an elevator got pretty tedious, but really enjoyed our stay otherwise. The manager, I believe Eric, and Eddie at the front desk were very helpful with my inquiries. The food, service, room and location were great. The gym was being updated, however they offered a day pass to Life Time Fitness directly across the street, but never used it. We had two rooms and were both upgraded to suits as globalist. We would return.

Rooms were a really good size. Great street view. People at the front desk are super friendly. We ordered pillows and they came to our room super fast. Great location! And the burger restaurant in the hotel is really good as well. We will definitely stay here again and again.

I had a horrible experience at Thompson Hotel Central Park. I left my earrings at the Thompson Hotel. Upon realizing it, I immediately contacted the hotel, but they said they couldn't find them. They refused me to return to the room and check. They translate my case to the security department. This incident happened on Nov 12, and the hotel has done nothing to locate my missing earrings. Only told me they can't find them. However, form my understanding, it is very easy to find the person(housekeeping) who entered my room! The hotel didn't help me! very very horrible experience!

As most guests have noted, this hotel is in a great location and central to a lot of attractions in midtown and Central Park. While I have been impressed at other Thompson locations, this hotel does not meet the same standard as the others. To be fair, this is New York City, but for the caliber and price point of this hotel, things like chipped paint in rooms and frayed carpets is disappointing. The bathroom left a lot to be desired, but the beds were comfortable and the size of the room was good for NYC (stayed at a double with a bathtub). Overall, the personnel were warm and accommodating (especially housekeeping staff). Only hiccup I had with staff was not receiving some toiletries I asked to be sent up to my room, but I visited during the holidays and the hotel was busy. On a positive note, I was able to check-in early to my room, which was very appreciated after a hectic flight.

Our 3 night stay at the Thompson was a dream. We're big travelers, though it was our first time in NYC. We pored through several hotel choices - high end, lower end, different locations.. asked ourselves if it mattered since we would be out and about most of the time. Ending each day in the comfort of a spacious, clean, and modern room at the Thompson enhanced our long days out in NY. The location was excellent for first timers - felt safe and just a few blocks from Central Park and Times Square, and many many great restaurants in all directions. There is some noise and the hotel was under renovation at the time (Oct 2023), but overall I think noise management was good - NY is a loud city! The doormen were friendly. We'd definitely stay here again.

We had a really good stay here, with a couple of minor hiccups. For reference, we were here for two nights. We got upgraded to a studio suite room, which was nice. There was a wood panel in the closet that was detached, and fell down inside the closet. Did no damage. Also, the shower seemed to leak some water somehow. Our room was on the street side, so not much of a view. But to the positives, the bed was insanely comfortable, as was the sofa in the room. The room was modern, the elevators fast. Staff was super friendly. They also have live jazz music on certain nights. The hotel is inactive great location, 1-2 blocks away from Teo subway stations, and of course a couple blocks from Central Park. Make sure to walk around the immediate area, as plenty of great restaurants and shopping is nearby.

We stayed at the Thompson Central Park over the 2023 Thanksgiving holiday week. We had an incredible stay and as a Hyatt Globalist, we were upgraded to a bigger room (King Suite) on a high floor. The breakfast at Parker's restaurant each morning was delicious, and the staff was extremely nice and accommodating, as was the staff at the rest of the hotel. The location of this hotel is perfect for walking to Broadway shows, excellent restaurants, MOMA, Central Park, Fifth Ave shopping and Radio City Music Hall, among other NYC attractions. We will definitely be making this our go-to hotel for future NYC stays, and we look forward to staying at the other Thompson hotels in the future.

We had a great stay at the Thompson. The rooms were clean and thoughtfully supplied. The HVAC was very robust but quiet, the bed so super comfy and the shower and bathroom was nice. Location right next to Central Park and close to many subway lines was superb. Would not hesitate to book again

Overall a really great hotel. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The staff are super friendly. One small downside, early morning starts at 4 or 5 so it can get noisy. If you are light sleeper being earplugs. Perfectly situated with 10 min walk to 5th av and all major road, it's also set around a few really nice restaurant which you can walk to.

Wouldn’t recommend the hotel. Stayed three different occasions in this hotel and wanted to share some details: The room I received didn’t have a chair nor a table to allow to sit and read or work. The room was very small without space to place my luggage. Bed is very comfortable and curtains can shut out light well. Breakfast is delicious but takes ages until being served (1+ hour). The location is great but view from the rooms is very bad, looking into other hotel rooms. No upgrades available even though suits were available to book on the same date. Would rather suggest staying in the Edition close by.

The hotel was new and decent. Location was very central and accessible. But what made it a different experience was the service. From the door man to the front desk to the cleaning crew everyone was efficient and respectful and getting the job done. What made the experience superb was how helpful the hotel security and staff were. Big shout out to Virginia at the security. We left the hotel and I forgot my backpack in the lobby with my wallet and ID to get into my flight. I called the hotel and Virginia very quickly located my backpack and made sure the right person gets it to me. Thank you so much for your wonderful care and help! Happy new years

Location and the luggage storage service are amazing so it deserves two stars. However, I couldn’t enjoy the rest of the hotel. The room has the sanitation concern. Garbage on the floor and dead insects at the surface in front of the window. The receptionist promised us someone would come to clean up. And we left the room at the time she told us. However, the room remained unclean when we returned. No one came apparently. I am so disappointed with the property of Hyatt. Update: Thompson provides 5000 points for compensation.

Stayed at the Thompson over Christmas and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was nice and very spacious, though a bit cold, the heating didn’t help much as I believe the isolation is the problem. There is a gym, however, we found out on site that they good rid of the pool. As a Hyatt Globalist I had breakfast at the Parker Restaurant included (1 coffee, 1 juice, 1 dish), which was nice but the service was extremely slow. But overall I definitely recommend the Thompson due to its amazing location and proximity to the main spots in Upper Manhattan.

I stayed at this hotel when I was here for work for 3 nights. It is a great location, as is walking distance to Times Square, Radio City Hall, theatre district and Central Park. When I was checking in, it went very smoothly and quickly. I had Justin at the front desk, where he was so friendly, chatty and amazing. He told me to definitely check out the restaurant Parker's and Burger Joint, especially that one as he said it was so good! He didn't mention that they also have an Indian restaurant as well, although seems harder to find in the hotel. Hotel Room The corridors are very art deco and nicely lit. I booked a room with two beds, where the room was very spacious, modern and clean. I got given Room 1023 and it had a view of another building, not great but didn't bother me. There was lots of drawers space, a big TV, some books, a big sofa near the window and a bathroom with a shower. Nice touches of having an iron, ironing board, robes, slippers, hairdryer, a small security safe, mini fridge (not filled so can add your own stuff) and hangers. There was no suitcase rack, so I had to put it on the small table in the room. There wasn't any wardrobe space to hide my suitcase or put my shoes in there, so had to leave these out. There wasn't any tea or coffee machine, but they had free complimentary bottles of water. They have a gym but you have to go outside and into a door called Dry Bar to get a lift downstairs. It isn't ideal but assume they are renovating to make it easier to get to. It is a nice sized gym with the treadmills, ski, rower, a few standard weight machines and dumb bells. There is a front desk there that is manned for any queries, but there was a supply of free towels and free water bottles. I have done a more in-depth review for Burger Joint. But it I will say it's a great little burger place small buts gets very busy. Not much table space. All in all, I really loved my stay here, despite the hotel going through some renovations (the front had scaffolding). The staff are very friendly, chatty and efficient. The hotel looks great and offers amazingly sized hotel rooms.

I am traveling often to New York and hotels are usually very noisy (bad isolation), not well located, old or just bad. What a surprise. The place is gorgeous, 4-star but feels like a 5-star, the price is affordable compare to any luxury hotel. It is super well located, close to Central Park, Time Square and the fifth. Valet service is good too, very convenient. I recommend!

I love the Thompson line of Hyatt, and the Thompson Central Park New York is one of the reasons why. The hotel was in the first phase of its opening (December 2021), but still provided a great experience. As a Globalist I was upgraded to a suite, which was beautiful and spacious compared to most New York hotel rooms. The staff was nice and provided great local recommendations. A special shout-out to the housekeeping staff who did a wonderful job daily. Also, be sure to stop by Burger Joint on the first floor past the lobby for a fun and delicious meal.

5/5 across the board! Right from the beginning the door men are greeting you and the spacious lobby is full of friendly employees ready to assist you! This hotel has a futuristic vibe with the way you enter their elevators, making it harder for guests who aren't staying to have access. We called for early check in and customer service was great! Very easy access to Central Park and Times Square! We would definitely stay here again as we found lots of delicious food and convenience in the neighborhood!

Brand new, November 2021, hotel seconds from Central Park. Right now it’s great value as it’s still partially u Der construction. The rooms are nice, just as you’d expect from Hyatt.

Great location on West 56th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues. All of the hotel staff I came into contact with were so helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're visiting New York City. The next time I'm heading for New York I'll certainly be staying there! 👍

Great hotel in a great location — metro is close to get around the city. Burgerjoint on the inside is amazing (also an Anthony Bourdain recco). The housekeeping staff are nice, fast, and great at their jobs.

Just ending our second stay within a short time frame. New hotel and they have really worked through the kinks since our first visit. Attention to detail is noted and staff are very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful room in a convenient, mid-town location. Service was impeccable! The door guys were extremely helpful in getting our luggage up to the room, hailing a taxi and helping us get settled in the room.Front desk attendant Alicia went above and beyond by sending a welcome gift to our room since we were celebrating both Christmas and a special birthday. (Thank you!) A favorite place to stay on NYC for sure.

This is by far one of the best hotel. Staff very professional and accommodating. The entire hotel was spectacular. It was very clean, elegant and luxurious. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. If we ever visit the Big apple we will definitely stay at the Thompson Central Park New York. The front team member that check us in, went out of way to make us felt welcome. Housekeeping was very thorough, the suite was very clean and relaxing. Excellent customer service from the front desk team, and all the staff. The Thompson can serve as a place for personal use and business use. 👌

Absolutely beautiful hotel with friendly staff and great location. Walking distance to the Lincoln center and many other fun things. The food was delicious and the rooms were spacious. The staff was beyond accommodating and were happy to help with any little thing we needed. Amanda the director or sales and marketing made planning so effortless and even had a handwritten card waiting for us upon arrival, its the little things! could not recommend this hotel more :)

My family of 4 stayed here 12/27-12/31. After reading reviews of other midtown hotels, I was so nervous to book anything in the city. However, this hotel is absolutely beautiful. Everything in the room appeared to be brand new, immaculate, and very comfortable. The shower and air conditioner/heat worked perfectly. The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially Eddie, who worked so hard to make sure our stay was perfect (he answered all questions, offered restaurant recommendations, accommodated an early check in and late check out, offered directions, and even gave us his subway pass and sent cake up the room for our sons). Housekeeping was also fantastic and freshened up our room and provided towels each day. The Burger Joint in the lobby was an added bonus for lunch on the day we arrived and for late night Oreo milkshakes after a Broadway show. The location was also absolutely fantastic. We went for a walk through Central Park every morning before breakfast to watch the dogs run off leash and were able to walk to many attractions like the American museum of natural history, Rockefeller center, Times Square, etc. The hotel was technically in a “soft opening” while we were there but I honestly cannot think of a single thing they can improve on. Also, the elevators were designed in such a way that we never had to share with anyone else during our 5 day stay. I would absolutely give my highest recommendations to the Thompson Central Park and will absolutely stay there again.
